I am always looking for the next happy hour. I think I found it. Started with a meatball bite. Wedge salad with blue cheese dressing and lots of chopped up goodies. Then pita and humus dip. The humus was thin but nicely flavored. Shrimp salad over lettuce. And chicken wings with multiple options for flavoring. We went with Thai mango sauce that brought heat and sweet. No misses. I must say I wasn't disappointed in the food, always good. I was disappointed in the condition of the restaurant. The bathrooms were in horrible shape. The access to the bathrooms looked like I was walking through a storage room. The tables looked worn out. The bench seating had chips and basically look worn out as well. The place need a complete cleaning and updating. Sadly I will likely not go there again, not because the food was bad, but because the facilities is in need of a total make over. read more

I really wanted to love this place but was so disappointed. I got the veggie burger which was disgusting. Grey, gritty lava-like goo that tasted like cigarette ashes. I'm thinking this place, although it pretends to be local, fresh, blah blah, just orders pre-cooked frozen meals from one of the big manufacturers and then heats them. I can't imagine anyone actually making this slop. Ridiculously priced at $20. My lunch mates order cheeseburgers and while they ate them (I could not even eat my "meal" ) they were totally underwhelmed. And these were $20 burgers. What a joke. The "server" never came back, never asked how the food was (guess he doesn't want to know) never asked why I was basically throwing out all my food. THIS PLACE IS SUCH A RIP-OFF JOINT. Friend & I lunched here on a rainy day & Enjoyed it very much. She had a cup of tomato and a Caesar salad, both of which she enjoyed down to the last sip and bite. I had the bbq chicken salad. Mine came with a surprise: onion strings! Both salads were generous, although mine would have benefited from more chicken. Cobb Salad had the dregs left on the chicken- so hard- they were inedible. the place needs an update- tables are worn, no ambiance at all . place looks and feels dirty. read more

I was just there for a quick drink On my way home. I dropped my Zync nicotine and the lid came off, meaning they had all touched the floor which I am not going to put in my mouth and quickly threw them away. A very nice employee saw this happen and immediately asked me if I would like a cigarette. I didn't partake but that was such a genuinely nice thing to offer. Charming bistro with great food. The steak frites was incredible - perfectly cooked steak, delicious reduction, and blanched spinach. We also ordered blackened shrimp, which by our mistake was heavily seasoned. Still, the owner was kind enough to cook us new, unseasoned shrimp. Wine list was great - I enjoyed the carmenere. Staff were kind enough to bring our kids art supplies while we ate. I would love to dive into the menu a bit more next time we are in the area. read more

Beware of food poisoning. The individual that dined with me and I both got food poisoning from ordering fish tacos on New Year's Eve. We didn't dine together before that. None of my family members dined with us and they did not get food poisoning, so I know I got food poisoning from dining at Wild Tomato. I thought the fish tacos tasted a bit off. I thought it was because perhaps they didn't put as much seasoning on it as they had in the past, but perhaps the fish was undercooked or contaminated instead. It was the worst case of food poisoning I've ever had in my entire life. I vomited repeatedly throughout the night and for nearly 24 hours. It was so bad that I thought I would die from all the vomiting and couldn't drive to urgent care due to the non-stop vomiting. The individual that dined with me was still sick after a couple of days. After that horrible dining experience, I won't ever dine at Wild Tomato again. read more

As I entered Wild Tomato I had a gut feeling this was the place. With its bright and kind hostess, and its hardworking waiters, Wild Tomato could not be more perfect! I started with the teriyaki chicken wings, and let me tell you. It did NOT disappoint. I then moved on to the prosciutto pizza. Delicious. With a balsamic glaze this pizza had the perfect amount of sweet and salty. Before I left, the owner, Stephanie,who may I say is very kind and very caring, came and gave us our check! I love when restaurants add a little personal touch such as that, it makes the restaurant feel ten times more welcoming! Highly suggest! read more

Good ambiance, friendly staff, had apps and a few drinks. Drinks were good. Had the hummus and pita. Few veg/vegan options.

This is a nice little place to eat, I definitely want to come back sometime. The place is a little small and so it felt just a little cramped to me, but there's seating outside for when the weather is appropriate which can help with that. The service was also nice, staff seemed friendly in a way that I felt was a little different than the standard politeness you get/expect from your servers. Nothing too crazy, but it felt a little nicer to me at least. Food was good too, there's nothing I feel that was exceptionally "mind-blowing" or anything like that. Nachos were good, but average. The pizza was also tasty but I've definitely had ones with more complexity and flavor. And the clam linguini was just a proper seafood pasta, just simple and let the ingredients speak for themselves. This was just good solid food at a pretty reasonable price given what you'll get. Honestly though sometimes that's all you need. This isn't the place for anything lavish, this is a place for you to just relax and have a nice tasty meal. And at the end of the day that's all you can really ask of from a decent restaurant, this won't top your list but it should definitely be on it. read more

Sadly, while this could be a decent place, they are completely and totally disrespectful towards guests. Their website, social media, and restaurant hours show 10pm, our group shows up at 9pm and gets turned away cause they say their closed. Strangely enough, there was 3 tables of people inside and 4 people at the bar. Then 3 tables of people outside. Rude, disrespectful. Disappointing, and disgusting. Never again will any Wild Tomato Restaurant get a dollar from us. read more

We must have visited this place on an off day judging by the other reviews. I ordered the clams linguini. What arrived looked nothing like the photographs for this restaurant. The linguini was completely dried out and obviously had undergone "microwave" magic. The clams were not cleaned properly. The sauce was tasteless and overpowered by the stale taste of the pasta. The server did not check back on the food and never asked how anything was. For me, this is evidence that no one in the front and back of the house really cares how the food tastes. My impression is that this is a restaurant "resting on its laurels." If I had not been out with a friend, I would have sent the dish back. read more

Today, my wife and middle son and I had their burgers for a late lunch. All were ordered medium rare: all were red in the inside and crispy outside. I called the inside the epitome of a medium rare burger. I ordered mine with grilled mushrooms and carmelized onions as opposed to the standard lettuce and tomato. The patties were loosely packed, juicy, just delicious. The Hamburg come with a quite large amount of seasoned French fries. I finished my fries, but my wife and son did not. My wife and are in our 80's and get to eat here 2-3 times per month. BTW, coming via Glen Echo, MD you get to drive over a one lane bridge. Neat. read more

Came here after hiking with my boyfriend and this was the perfect post hike meal! Atmosphere is very ma and pa restaurant which is a nice touch for a simple, homey dining experience. We got the mussels in Provençal sauce as our app and the clam linguini as our meal to share. I loved loved loved the mussels especially in that tomato based sauce. It wasn't too tangy or very pungent in tomato. It also tased as if it was reduced with maybe white wine? I wasn't expecting the mussels to be huge but they were decently sized and you could tell it isn't frozen. So yes to reiterate, I loved the mussels and the garlic crostini was toooo delicious!! Dip the bread in the sauce and you're gonna wanna order more. Moving on to the entree, the clam linguini was good but compared to the mussels, was slightly lacking in flavor. The clams didn't taste different or amazing and the sauce was eh, alright. However, it was a nice light meal and I'm glad we shared because portions are huge here. Only complain is maybe simmer down on the oil? The dishes tasted very oily. Otherwise, I would come back again and try something else! read more

It's been a few months since I last reviewed Wild Tomato and we recently decided to give it another try to see if it had corrected their "blaring music" as opposed to "background music". This time was another problem. Although the food was as good and well prepared as remembered, we encountered a different problem. We chose outside seating so we could talk, but were served by an upset and discouraged waitress. She was brand new and on her first day had made some errors. Understandable. But she also had been chewed out by the same rude manager who had been confrontational to us the previous time. Instead of using a mistake as a chance for training (after all, serving is not easy), this manager had reduced her to tears. I feel sorry for any worker who's not trained and supported by an understanding supervisor. How is rudeness and insults a good management style? Need a new and better manager! read more

My wife and I eat here often. We think the food and great and the waitstaff are very friendly. I typically order the burger, fish tacos, or a pizza - all are excellent. My wife gets the veggie burger, salad, or pizza and she enjoys them. If we have a very hungry crowd of friends with us, we may order the nachos. The portion sizes are very generous. The inside can be very loud when crowded so we eat outside when the weather is nice. read more

Discovered this cute place when in search of a midpoint between Great Falls VA and Potomac to meet up with former students. Enjoyed it so much I ate there twice in one week. Dining outside is best for my comfort and there are a few tables available. Busy during the lunch hour so flexibility allows a better opportunity to secure a table in other words early around 11 or later around 1. Chose appetizer of the chopped salad as I wanted a light meal on a hot day. It was fresh and portioned perfectly for me. My dining partner had a Caprese chicken sandwich equally delicious. The variety of the menu options, very attentive servers and overall quality makes this a great place to dine Next time around I chose a bun less impossible burger and side salad. Nice selection on the menu, decent preparation and consistency but it's not a 5-star establishment (but could be?) especially given it's proximity to the wealth of restaurants generally in the D.C./MD/VA area ... but Wild Tomato *is* super convenient and a great local higher-end spot for a tasty meal. read more

I found this place on Yelp as I was searching for restaurants nearby the billy goat hiking trail. We checked out the menu online and were immediately sold on the selection. Upon our arrival, we ordered the lemonade and the clam strips. I don't know what they put in the red sauce to accompany the clam strips, but my taste buds were whistling. It was good! Next, we all had separate lunch entrees. I had the shrimp and grits and they had the fish tacos and the mushroom pizza. Everyone was very satisfied with their meal. I love the Salvador Dali like artwork. I've been thinking about that mushroom pizza so I will go back for that next. ;) read more

In a nutshell, this is pretty good for a neighborhood place. The atmosphere is casual, Good energy, with neighborhood people coming to dinner. It was our first time there. The menu has a good selection. My friend started with a Margarita with salt. He said it was pretty good. I ordered seared blackened tuna salad. It was okay, but absolutely not the best I've ever had. My friend ordered the fish tacos. To be honest, the fish tacos at the fish taco restaurant at a few doors next are better, but these fish tacos are pretty good. The service was excellent. The table was a little crowded. It was hard to have a good conversation because it was a little loud. To summarize, we enjoyed our meal here. Good service, good food, and nice atmosphere. read more

Don't come here for pizza. I have had their pizza over the last five years and the product I have received has just become too inconsistent. Recently, I got a pizza that was so poorly made that half of it was an inedible cheese bubble -- it wasn't merely "not good" but it actually was a mess.
