Popped in here as we were looking at condos today. They just opened, so was quiet. Although, the happy hour crowd started to roll in while here. It has an old school feel to it. Service was great! Attentive and super nice, even when he got busy. Calamari and pizza were great. Beers ice cold! Pretty good deals for Happy Hour. Come try!

This place is much bigger than it appears from the outside, although it never seems busy. . It's location tucked inside a Friendship Heights apartment building holds a bar area up front and several spacious dining rooms. They advertise live music several nights a week. The menu consists of the usual Italian / Italian American fare, to include chicken, fish, beef, pizza, sandwiches, etc. I had the veal parm, which was decent. It came with a nice sized salad and bread as well. Service was prompt and courteous.

Would recommend the stuffed mushrooms with crab meat, yum

It is a very quaint place with rustic style and enjoyable things to see. The live music was fun and the atmosphere was electric. However, the service was not up to par, though we found out there were 3 people working. It was confusing why larger parties were served before us and after they ordered. We ended up leaving with our food, which was very good, however it took over an hour to get our food. I stepped out to take a phone call for about 15 minutes, and the food still didn't come. Overall an ok time, but the service was not very good.

Located on the ground floor of the Willoughby of Chevy Chase condominiums, Alfio's La Trattoria offers traditional Italian fare in large portions at reasonable prices. The restaurant has been around since the 1960s. The space has a number of rooms suitable for small drop-in parties and larger formal gatherings, and live music is offered (for a charge in a separate space) on Saturdays. There is also a small bar space with both a bar counter and high top tables. A staff member greeted us upon our arrival and opened the door for us. I believe the staff person doubles as the valet. While there was no host stand clearly present in the entrance area, a staff member did greet us and offered us our choice of tables in the front dining area. The service was quick, and the food was good. The house salad was simple but tasty, and the chicken dish I ordered (pictured) was savory and moist. I look forward to trying other dishes here in the future.

I ordered the Bolognese and Lasagna via Door Dash. This food is horrible so bad I wouldn't feed this to my dog. The food didn't taste fresh, unseasoned and poor quality. You can tell their was zero love in the preparation of this garbage. If I could give zero stars I would. Just terrible!!!!!!

Whats left of a strawberry shortcake lol

2 stars Went here to see jazz performance with my friend and it was meh. They also had open mic and some ppl had no business being on the mic. Service was mediocre to say the least. If i have to flag a wait person down for a menu, to order and to ask for a damn napkin, i wont be a happy camper. Desserts: strawberry shortcake was mehhh it tasted like it came from whole foods which is across the street from this restaurant. Would i come back probably not. They can keep their fancy mirror and sink lol

A host greeted us and guided us to a table. I want to caution this is a very dimly lit restaurant (we were there around 7PM on a Sunday night) and there is a slight incline in the floor leading into one of the other rooms but there is a rug placed down in that area that somewhat helped show it was there. Service was great and attentive. Menu clearly outlined the food and drink options. Pricing seemed fair for area and quality of food. Our server asked if we were interested in additional details such as adding cheese or asking for refills. We had fresh bread and dressing delivered to us upon sitting down. Silverware was neatly wrapped and looked clean. I ordered the sausage and peppers - it was delicious. I had leftovers and the server kindly placed them in a to-go container in a bag that was hooked to the table conveniently out of the way. My fiancé reheated the leftovers upon my return home and he enjoyed the leftovers! I thought it was also a cute touch that the server check presenter had the name of the restaurant as well!

They also have a small grocery section with imported Italian goods (canned clams, tomatoes, olive oils, cookies, etc) and frozen premade goodies like sauces, lasagnas, Italian sausage, pizza dough, and even ice cream. We ordered a hot porchetta sub, cold cut sub, and homemade pappardelle with pesto cream sauce. The owner helped us choose a "soft" sub roll for the porchetta and a "hard" Italian baguette for the cold cut sub. The food was all very tasty and felt like we traveled to a simpler time where ingredients shine for themselves. The porchetta was tender and flavorful, and together with the soft roll, kind of reminded me of a Taiwanese gua bao or Cantonese charsiu bao. It was incredible and smelled so delicious! The cold cut sub was simple and well balanced, and good with the harder baguette. Lastly, the handmade pappardelle was delightfully chewy and reminded me of Chinese hand pulled noodles. Didn't expect to have such parallels with Chinese food- and I enjoyed reflecting on how different cultures can come to have similar tastes and values. Next time we'll have to try their desserts and more of their menu! Can't wait to come back. Go check out this gem in Rockville, and experience a taste of Italy!

It is a cute restaurant located off of Boiling Brooke Parkway in Rockville, Maryland. The inside is decorated with warm woods and shelves and freezers filled with Italian frozen entrees, desserts, and sauces. As you walk up to the counter, you are warmly welcomed. I ordered the Italian cold cut sub and the meatball sub. They have a huge assortment of chips. I am really regretting not picking up a package of my favorite chips. Next time... Service was great. The gentleman who waited on me couldn't have been nicer. It took about 5 minutes for my food to be ready and I was out the door. I want to echo other reviewers, when I say there are no tables or chairs for eating. This is strictly order your food and take it with you. My meatball sub was delicious. It was packed with large portions of meatballs, that were roasted in a tasty marinara sauce. The roll was fresh and soft. I highly recommend this sub. The Italian sub was good, but it was crying out for a little lettuce and tomato. I know that they offer the sub with a green sauce, but I found the taste of the sauce oily and too parsley heavy. I was really glad I had it put on the side. Other than that, the Italian meats were tasty and the sub roll fresh and tender. Prices were reasonable, it was about $20 for both subs. I will definitely return to get some homemade pasta and that tiramisu that was tempting me in the fridge. Gratzi,Vignola Gourmet.

I remember getting the chicken fettuccine Alfredo but I couldn't remember too much of what I thought of the spot while my fam thought it was pretty good. It's been a minute so I've finally decided to come back to review this spot. I ordered online through DoorDash for pick up and once I got there the door was locked for some reason but luckily after I called them they unlocked the door. The inside looked a bit different from the first time I was there (last time looked more spacious) but it still looked decent. For my order I got the pappardelle bolognese $22, fettuccine Alfredo $20, and classic chicken parmigiano $21. - the pappardelle bolognese was my favorite of the 3. It had a creamy tomato flavor sauce that was paired nicely with beef to make a very good tasting dish. - The fettuccine Alfredo was okay but it's not something that I would get again. - The classic chicken parmigiano was solid but nothing crazy. I did like the chicken portion but the spaghetti pasta had to be the smallest I've ever had. - the Complimentary fresh bread and oil came with the meal and it was okay. All in all, this is a solid spot for pasta and my main recommendation would be the pappardelle bolognese which was done very well.

The latter could have been forgiven, except the food crashed the experience. My first time there, and likely my only time. We felt lucky to be seated. Our waitress made us look forward to what was in store. I had a local brew, Raven Rock black lager from 7 Locks Brewing. Excellent. I'll be having more of those. It was served very cold in a chilled glass. Clearly they know how to serve beer. Our table went for two of the specials: spinach ravioli in a white wine sauce, and Bronzino in a Piccata sauce. In addition we picked a classic favorite, eggplant parmigiana - and then the waiting began. Like I said that would not have been a dealbreaker if the food had been outstanding. After 45 minutes, I asked one of the waitresses if she could check on our food. To her credit she did. She returned in short order and told us that there was a table in front of us, informed us that all the meals were made from scratch, and said they would definitely be worth waiting for. If only. The Bronzino filet was doused in the piccata, which completely overshadowed the taste of the fish. What I could taste of the fish was not that great. The dinner came with spaghetti, which was delicious, and vegetables, which were also very tasty however, they were soaked in butter. The ravioli got passed around our table and ended up mostly uneaten. It was drenched in butter and salt. Not subtle at all. I peeled open one of the raviolis to try the spinach and it was quite good. Too bad it was hard to taste midst all of that butter and salt. The eggplant Parmesan came covered in cheese, and I mean a lot of cheese. I like cheese, but I also like eggplant and it was hard to find in the midst of all that cheese. I noticed that only about a quarter of it was eaten by my friend who ordered it. Sorry to say the food did not live up to expectations, and that's the bottom line.
