So, I've written two reviews previously on Yelp about Frankly Pizza and both times, my rating was four stars. They're getting five stars now, Frankly Pizza seriously upped their game. The food has always been excellent but the service was...meh. But, after the last several visits, wow. I'm seriously impressed with the wait staff, now. They're friendly, sharp and totally keep the ball rolling no matter how busy the place might be. Great job! read more

(4) ~ very good overall food & service. Note: Online ordering is efficient too. DRINKS: ** Water(tap) = (4.25) Very good, must be filtered;) ** Natural Homemade Ginger Soda(50% ice) = (4.25) Very Good! ** Sprecher Puma Kola = (4) very good FOOD: ** Hot Mess Pizza (added red sauce) = (4.25) Very good, especially the house smoked bacon & caramelized onions. Note: They used to offer "quail" eggs, but I don't see them listed on the take-out menu? And the bacon tastes better than the sausage;) ** Margherita Pizza w. House-made Sausage = (4.25) Very good ** Meatball Pie = (4) very good, although they should break up the meatballs into smaller crumbles to cover more of the pie. * Mushroom Pizza = (3.75) Good crust * Broccoli Cheddar Pizza (added bacon) = (3.75) Good, But too Salty... DESSERTS: ** Lime Cream Cake = (4.5) Very Good! Definitely the Best Dessert I've had here so far...Love the Light & Creamy Texture. It's similar to a Key Lime Pie, with more of a whipped texture. The Coconut Graham Crust compliments it well too. Hope they keep this one year round:)lol ** White Chocolate Caramel Apple Cheesecake = (4.25) Very good ** Peanut Butter & Jelly Cake (Seasonal) = (4.25) Very good & Decadent:) ** Cherry Cheesecake = (4.25) Very good, and Easily their Best dessert so far. Praline Sauce & Whipped Cream = (4) very good. Tasted like a Pumpkin Pie & Pecan Pie had a baby:)lol This is filling enough to be shareable too;) ** Raspberry Bars = (4) very good * Anniversary Cake = (3.75) Good * White Chocolate Peppermint Cheesecake = (3.5) good, but too sweet... * The Big Chunk Cookie = (3.5) good * Triple Chocolate Flourless Brownie w. Salted Caramel Sauce & Homemade Whipped Cream = (3.25) pretty good, but the brownie was our least favorite part...the caramel sauce and whipped cream were very good though... read more

Ambience was casual. Service was very good. The pizza was just ok. I think the pizza is overrated. They were stingy on the toppings. The crust was nice but flavors was just ok. The positive is that from start to finish for baking is about 3 minutes. Limited parking. Not sure if I will return. read more

This is my favorite pizza restaurant in the MoCo area by far! The servers are all very attentive and friendly, the prices are reasonable, and we haven't had a pizza we didn't like across the menu. We also love the atmosphere of the small, tucked-away restaurant near the local shops in Kensington just beyond the busy traffic of Connecticut Ave. We started off with a Mediterranean salad off their specials, that had plenty of chickpeas, olive oil, and tomatoes to get our appetites kicked off. Most recently we enjoyed the spinach pizza, which had sprinkled gruyere and romano cheese, lemon juice, and caramelized onions. Even though there was a whole layer of spinach, you couldn't taste any bitterness from the leafs due to the acidity and sweetness of all the other ingredients. We also had the sausage and peppers pizza, which was made with marinated Italian peppers that were on the sweeter side in contrast to your average green peppers. They were both delicious! Can't wait for our next pizza date night at Frankly! read more

I have always loved this cozy spot. Went here yesterday with my mom and it was everything I wanted again. My service was great with them bringing everything we asked for in a very quick manner. The pizza is amazing as it comes out wood-fired. It is a 12 in but cut into four slices so all of the slices are easily foldable to eat. They also have their homemade sodas which I don't drink soda anymore but i remember as a kid these being the bomb. Happy to see this place is still as good as I remember. Will be heading back soon. read more

Pulled up at little after 430p to order taue-out. The door for take out is in the left side. I ordered mushroom white pizza and a margherita. It only took 10 minutes!!! Love how easy it is to walk up and order at Frankly's. I've also ordered online before and it's super fast! read more

Enjoyed pizza with my relatives and Frankly Pizza was around the corner from where my aunt lives. It's a nice small place with atmosphere. Ordered the Special, the Fresh Mozzarella Margherita. My aunt would have ordered the same with mushrooms, but for some reason (which I really don't understand) they don't allow that Special to have toppings, so she selected the regular Margherita with Mushrooms. Everyone received an individual pie. It looked and was so delicious, I took a bite before I took a pic! The wood-burning brick oven certainly provided a nice finish to the crust. Only comment, our parking spot out front didn't allow easy access for her to pass through to the car with her walker. Anyway, would definitely recommend Frankly Pizza. read more

This spot is a family favorite- the staff are all super friendly and their pizzas are the best in Kensington IMO. Wow! Double Wow! Triple Wow! Best gluten free pizza I have ever eaten. It was legit. You have to reserve your gluten free pizza dough ahead of time and make a separate dining delete reservation. Totally worth it! the homemade soda was great and our salad was simple and delicious. Not a big menu but they are making what they have perfect! Service was stellar! The place was packed and hopping. PIZZA HAPPINESS! Frankly continues to turn out great food, solid service and happy consumers a decade after opening in Ktown. The service at Frankly Pizza is phenomenal 5/5! The servers were super attentive and helpful. The food is good. I would give it four out of five stars. We ordered apps, pizzas, and dessert. The key lime cake was a bit too sweet. Some of the pizzas I think were over salted. read more

Kensington has a lot of great hidden spots. Frankly's was a good experience. The waitress was really friendly and the staff was extremely nice. The pizza crust was soft and good. Similar to a 2 Amy's for those that have had it in the city. They do have pizza choices already built for you. The best advice I can give is to do the create your own. My wife and I made alterations to suggested pizzas like adding arugula to the mushroom pizza or me adding jalapeños to the sausage and peppers. I wish I just got a pepperoni and sausage. Save it for the next time! read more

Me and my wife are from Baltimore city, but we've been to Frankly a handful of times because my wife is gluten sensitive and they have probably the best gluten free pizza around. You need to call 24 hours in advance for the gf pizza. The staff is super friendly and the space is cozy and warm. The host greeted me warmly and when he asked me the name on the reservation, he knew right away we requested a gf pizza. I got the meatball pizza (non gf) and asked our waitress if they could make our pizzas with less char. Unfortunately, there was more char on my pizza than I like, and on our way out I saw a table whose pizza didn't have any char. Regardless, the flavors were very good and I enjoyed it. I just avoided the crust, which I usually eat. My wife enjoyed her pizza as well. We will be back because it's always a great experience. read more

First thing getting pizza here in Kensington. Located near the antique row, it's a really nice and cozy spot. We sat inside but there is seating outside. Our server was nice, and got us seated quickly. We ordered the fresh mozzarella margharita and mushroom pizza. You can the wood fire oven and smell the amazing pizza! The pizza tastes really good! The crust is crispy and seasoned really well. We also got their homemade ginger soda which paired really well with the meal. In addition to this we also got their seasonal carrot cake which was soooo good. read more

Really cute place, amazing and attentive service. I'd recommend making a reservation, as they have interesting hours, and it gets pretty busy as soon as they open. The inside is pretty small, but there's a nice outdoor seating area as well. Only a few parking spots right in front, but lots of parking in the area within walking distance. Went with a friend, and we got the rosemary focaccia, the Margherita pizza on the specials menu, and the mushroom white pizza. Delicious!!! The focaccia was nice and flavorful, and came straight from the brick oven. It was quite oily, (and comes with a delicious side of olive oil for dipping) so if that's not your jam, I'd skip it. The pizzas were so flavorful and once again, came straight from the brick oven. Nice crispy crust, and incredible flavor. The mushroom pie was my favorite of the two-- I highly recommend. Our waiter was super attentive, and clearly very well informed on all the menu items. Finally, for the quality you're getting, the prices weren't too bad at all in my opinion. I'd definitely recommend! read more

Um... is this what pizza heaven looks like? This is one of the few (if not the only) restaurant wherr the wait time is worth it. My family and I came in on a busy night and the wait was approximately 30 mins. The place was packed and we weres starving so we had to make an executive decision on whether to wait or go somewhere else. We made the right choice!!! read more

I like this place and come here a lot but there are some caveats: - There's only pickup, no delivery. That's not a bad thing. - Don't order right before opening. I've noticed sometimes their pizzas are not as good at this time. - If you order too near to closing, you might not get anything. - The indoor section of the restaurant is tiny so you'll probably end up sitting outside if you don't have a reservation. Overall the results have been consistent, service has been very good, and it can be slow to get you a pizza, but they are mostly on target when they give you an estimate. Fortunately there are some other shops in the area you can visit while you wait. read more

First time trying this place today...small area and steady crowd made for congested process flow...but solid peperoni pizza, tasty dough, would have likef bottm bit crispy, bit toppings wete very good. Representing F for 2022 is F is for Frankly Pizza. I went here one time in September 2022 on a date. I was familiar with Frankly since June 2016 when I went to a Fox 5 Zip Trip in Kensington and got a sample of the pizza and thought it was good. This was a 3rd date out of 4 total from December 2021 to May 2023. She was always very busy with her 2 jobs, etc., but let's be honest very busy = Friend zone. I think she got slightly annoyed with my questions to server about menu. I believe I got the Arugula salad as a starter & mushroom pizza. Pizzas are individual size. Prices are comparable to other similar pizzas. These are brick oven style. Let's be Frank, as they are all about the Pizza, with an exclamation point, which I frankly think exclamation is dumb for a business except I like for Yahoo!, but that is one exception, the pizza is decent but overrated. Server was pretty good. Also, it's pretty dark in here, which was a negative for me. I just didn't get the appeal of Frankly! read more

Frankly Pizza - Mushroom pizza. Not bad, had better - Pizza Near Me - Kensington, Maryland

Well, I have found my favorite pizza place in the DMV. My friend who is a genius at finding hole in the wall places that serve amazing food brought me here, and the food and ambience were so perfect that I was back very soon with my family. The pizzas are crafted in the Neapolitan style, and almost everything (including the doughs, breads, sauces, and even the sausages) were all made in the house. The cheese and olive oil are high-quality and imported from Europe. And of course the pies are cooked to perfection in the brick oven. The rosemary focaccia we had was perfectly baked and the paired olive oil had a spicy, beautiful flavor. We had to save the extra olive oil to drizzle on our pizzas. We had a red pie and a white pie, and both had fresh ingredients and were seasoned perfectly. And of course came out freshly baked and hot. Service was friendly. You could tell the servers really love the menu. Everything was very reasonably priced. The restaurant was small and packed, with a nice outdoor area (with heating lamps available) and an indoor dining room. Definitely make a reservation online ahead of time. Limited parking in front of the pizza place or in front of the neighboring stores. Just a perfect neighborhood place that serves amazing pizza. Don't miss it. read more

Frankly, a lot of hype behind it though. The restaurant is cozy. Decent wait time but the pizza wasn't what I expected. Maybe, they were "off" that day. I'll give it a try again, but due to the high prices, maybe not. read more

Pizzas are cooked in an oak-fired brick oven and they're delicious. I got the spinach pizza and it was great and cooked well. Pizzas are personal size so one was enough for me. Reservations are recommended even on weekdays due to space, but they do allow walk-ins. They have indoor and outdoor seating. There are only four parking spots in front of the restaurant, with street parking in the surrounding area. They also offer gluten free pizza (advanced notice required). Our server was kind, welcoming and checked on us often. read more

Incredible, great pizza great people. Got in relatively quick. They even have dairy free cheese which is a plus.

Do I recommend this place? Yes, yes, and 1000 times yes! I knew the minute I saw Anthony Bourdain's picture hanging up on their wall that they meant business. I was able to try the margarita pizza and the pepperoni pizza and they were both extremely delicious. And reminded me of fresh New York Pizza. The margarita pizza was one of their specials that actually had the mozzarella chunks melted and I don't think I can ever go back to it any other type of margarita pizza. This place is an absolute must try. Service was exceptional. The ambience was very warm and inviting. They had a beautiful outdoor seating which was nice because the weather was beautiful when I went and I really enjoyed the location. The neighborhood is located in is really nice and after I had the pizza I was able to just walk around. If you plan your day in advance and have some extra time, I definitely recommend walking around and taking a look at the beautiful homes in the neighborhood. read more

We drove right by Frankly Pizza twice without seeing it. But once we walked inside on a Sunday evening, we were shocked by the crowd. A 45 minute wait - reservations would have been a good idea. The restaurant is packed with locals, not too fancy, lots of families, couples, and older folks. Frankly Pizzas are good, with chewy crusts blackened by the oven. Everything is made from scratch. We split the burrata, a perfectly dressed arugula salad, and a sausage and pepper pizza. The burrata was covered with a thin layer of tomato sauce - very pretty, but I would have preferred something with a little acid. Our pizza could have used another minute in the oven, and we found ourselves looking enviously at the pizzas on the next table, all blistered and crusty. We also thought the sauce on our pizza was a bit too sweet. But we are New Yorkers and very picky about our pizza! Frankly Pizzas are great. Limited wines by the glass were fairly priced. In all, a fun, casual neighborhood joint in Kensington. read more

I work near Wheaton and always have heard about this place from people I work with. This is probably one of the best pizza places in the DMV area. My only complaint is the size of the pizzas is small for the price ...but the quality is so good and the flavors are on point. We got the margarita, mushroom, and meatball pizza. I enjoyed each flavor, but my favorite was the mushroom pizza, which is a white pie. The texture of the crust was chewy and soft with some charred/bubbly spots. I crave this pizza from time to time... Its probably time to go back soon. read more

This is a cool, quaint location. The service was great. The place was clean. I love wood fired pizza and it did not disappoint. I got the white garlic pizza. My kid got the pepperoni and seemed to like it. I was a little disappointed they did not have name brand diet soda but they have their own soda. No diet though. I'll bring the rest of the family back. Brought my daughter back. She really enjoyed it. I also got a different pizza (spinach). It was also excellent. Funny...I had the same server and sat at the same table :) read more

I'm sure you've heard this one before. But quite frankly... this pizza is delicious. I know, I know... I'm late to the party. But I literally have a chart in my kitchen that has a pic of pizza from a bunch of local DMV spots. and Frankly is in there, but I had not made it there until today. There are two separate entrances depending on what you want. The left side is carryout orders, and the right side is dine-in. If I had time, I definitely would've dined in, as the space looks nice, but I ordered to go. When you walk in on the carryout side, there are no places to sit, but a long counter where pizza orders are lined up, along with the register and menus, are to your right. And you can see the oven in the back! The two friendly staff welcomed me, knowing it was my first time after asking. And we chatted a bit and I ordered the pepperoni. It was done in about 10 minutes (I think... I stepped out for a bit and it was ready when I got back), I put it in an insulated bag and took it home. I love everything about the pizza. The crust was nice and had charred spots, and the sauce and cheese were good... but that pepperoni gave everything a nice kick. Whew! And while it was like a 12" pie, they only cut it in 4 slices, so they were wide and foldable. Very tasty! I would like to try their arugula salad, white pies, and their desserts in the future. I'll be back! read more

Excellent experience from the start. We went with our son and his fiancé to this charming little restaurant last night in the wind and sub-zero wind chill. Luke was our server and was outstanding. Their site does state a 1 1/2-hour time limit for table reservations, and I think we were ok on that front. It is nice to be able to sit and chat if you haven't seen someone in a while; however, due to its size it's smart to set the time expectation so that others can also enjoy the atmosphere, food, and service! I don't think you can go wrong on anything you order. They've smartly kept the menu limited but they knock everything out of the park. We all shared the available appetizers - Burrata, Focaccia, and Winter Brussels Sprouts Salad. We sampled the pizzas we all ordered, and shared 2 desserts: the Triple Chocolate Flourless Brownie and a Lemon Tart. Everything from service to apps to dessert was absolutely squisito! If we would offer any suggestions, we'd add an after-dinner espresso - or my preference - an Affogato. THAT would be perfection. It's a bit pricey but WELL worth the trip and money. We will definitely be returning! read more

I have only done carry out here but their pizza is always a hit! I think at this point I've had nearly everything on the menu and haven't had one yet that I didn't like! I wish they were a little more liberal with their toppings- I feel like often i get a slice that has half a piece of something on it but that's it. If I'm paying $18 for a personal sized pizza, there better be a piece of that house made bacon on every slice. Their toppings really are delicious, just sparce. Love their crust and I imagine it's even better if you get it AT the restaurant. Frankly is a great addition to Kensington and I like how they keep their menu small- they have something they're good at and just focus on that! read more

I love pizza. Frankly's makes the best pizza in the DMV consistently. Their staff is terrific too.

Our friends took us to a neighborhood restaurant in Kensington, Maryland. It's located on a quiet street away from busy intersections near Knowles and Connecticut Avenue. Indoor and outdoor seating is available and a separate take-out entrance. Hours vary and it closes pretty early. Coffee and tea are not on the menu. The atmosphere was casual, the service was on the spot. The prices were reasonable and the food was excellent. 5*Burrata Appetizer With a tomato vinaigrette and basil gremolata: light and fresh, very good 4*Arugula Salad with Romano, lemon vinaigrette: plain and simple; fresh and light. 5*SPINACH pizza with fresh garlic, mozzarella, caramelized onions, spinach, salt, Gruyere, Romano, lemon: mixed flavors. I think it's great to add caramelized onions, the mild sweet taste added dimensions to the flavor. 5*MUSHROOM pizza with Mozzarella, crimini mushrooms, shallots, parsley, Gruyere, Romano, porcini salt: great white pizza, not so heavy but tasty. 5*MEATBALL pizza with tomato sauce, mozzarella, house meatballs, and Romano: house meatballs were great, mixed with onions and spices, tender and mild spicy taste. 5*Key Lime Cream Cake With a coconut custard and coconut & graham cracker crust: very good 4.8*Triple Chocolate Flourless Brownie With salted caramel and whipped cream: excellent read more

Phenomenal pizza. The thin crust is imparted with flavor from the wood burned in their oven and differentiates their pizzas from others in MoCo and DC. This is a great place to have pizza. I would suggest making a reservation. The restaurant fills up quickly. The choices are simple: pizza. We tried a variety of them. I liked the Margherita. You can order extra sauces but they don't have a way to heat them. I don't get it. You can watch the pizza being made. The oven is in the middle of inside dining. Our server was busy and slightly distracted. The restaurant only has one bathroom. There are only a few parking spaces in front of the restaurant. Growing up in Olney, I remember looking forward to getting Frankly Pizza at the farmer's market each weekend. Last night, my husband and I visited the restaurant for the first time in 10 years and we were so happy to feel like not much had changed. The pizza and dough were delicious as ever and the staff were incredibly kind. I forget our server's name, but he was excellent, and recommended the spinach pizza with chili oil which was SO good. I went to Frankly.... Pizza on a Saturday evening with my son, husband and a group of friends. I was really excited to try this pizza fresh since I had ordered takeout from here multiple times during COVID since I used to live close by. Unfortunately it was super packed and the wait time was over an hour... and with a one year old kid there was no way we would have made it. We ordered the pizza as takeout and we were going to just eat outside at the nearby park's picnic tables. After we paid, the staff let us know that they actually just had a cancellation and they would be able to accommodate our party immediately. The staff were kind enough to switch our takeout order to dine in and seat us immediately. We ordered multiple pizzas to share as a table. - Entree Arugula Salad - Very fresh and perfect to share as a light appetizer - Porky Marge - The house made bacon was delicious and luckily they do not skimp! - Sausage & Peppers - The sausage was very flavorful, but I was not a huge fan of the roasted bell peppers... they ended up being really soggy and didn't add to the pizza - Margherita - This was my favorite pizza of the bunch! The ingredients were so fresh, well proportioned and cooked to perfection. This was my go to for takeout and it tastes even better fresh! - Mushroom - This is a good vegetarian option, the mushrooms really soaked up all of the delicious flavors - Pepperoni - This was my second favorite pizza, it is completely loaded with pepperoni slices... another must try item after the Margherita :) I cannot emphasize enough how amazing the staff is here. They were so accommodating for us... even with the placement of every plate they were mindful that it was not within my son's reach so he wouldn't hurt himself. I would recommend this spot to any craving delicious pizza who enjoys great service, I plan to be back very soon :) read more
