Representing 2019 in alphabet series, N is for Nut House Pizza. I went here a couple of times with my girlfriend of that time in 2019-2020. I used to live in Wheaton walking distance to the Nut House. Wheaton is a diverse area with a good number of people in various races & religions. Wheaton had a noteworthy Jewish population and especially very close to the east in Kemp Mill. Nut House is 100% Kosher. They have pizza & sushi, which was an interesting combination. I never tried their sushi, but they were more known for the pizza. You could get pizza by the slice or whole pizza. And being 100% Kosher, the meats are fake meat. Pepperoni & sausage are pork, which is always not Kosher, but beef & cheese mixed isn't Kosher either. So if you order a traditional meat item like getting a pepperoni pizza, it's an imitation pepperoni. I don't recommend the imitation meat. When I went there, I tended to get mushroom. It was good pizza but not great. Prices were a bit high for 2019 pricing, but they were conveniently located and getting pizza by the slice was sometimes a selling point. Staff is nice. Ordered a pizza, was told it'd be 10 minutes. Walked in 12 minutes after I called and was handed a room temperature dried out pie. Yuck.

I really wanted to support them. In fact, I came here years ago and was truly impressed by their pizza and how delicious it was. So that led to ordering one the other night and paying almost $30 for a subpar pie with the bare minimum when it came to toppings. If you're going to charge $2 for green olives, then you should probably put more than the equivalent of 2 olives sliced up on the pizza. At least 5 sliced up. It was an XL pie. Not sure what happened, but it would be great if they could go back to whatever they were doing before. :( read more

First timer. Delivery. It was raining, & really cold out, so delivery driver took so long that pizza was cold. Maybe he made other deliveries too. But he wouldn't leave the pizza outside on the stoop or chair because of the rain, so called me to come to the door to get it. Kudos to him for being so conscientious! Pizza was pretty good with a flat crust & I got two cheeses on it. I may order again if I can't get brick oven pizza which is my preference. read more

Nut House Pizza is one of my go to places on Saturday nights. This little mom and pop shop is very small and quaint, but the pizza is fantastic! I personally like it lightly cooked. But the best part is how quickly they are able to get out an order. Even in a rush it's usually no more than a 15-20 minute wait. I strongly recommend getting the fries as well! The owner makes a special seasoning that makes them one of a kind, savory and a little sweet. I would definitely recommend Nut House. read more

This is a great kosher pizza place that my family loves. It always tastes great and deserves more attention. They even sell t-shirts.

We ordered from here because we were staying with my BIL and SIL who keep kosher and needed to abide by their community standards. Pizza was delicious! I think I actually liked it better than Pizza Bolis (where we usually order pizza from if we're not getting Ledos). Over the phone the guy thought we said fries when we said salad, but when my husband got there to pick up our order and told him that we didn't order that, he corrected it right away - no big deal. I recommend Nut House Pizza, especially for Vegans/Vegetarians. The owner is honest, with much integrity and available to answer any questions or honor any specific request. This restaurant follows a strict Kosher & Parve dietary protocol which makes it challenging to serve tasty food. With this said, their food is very good. We really liked their original Pizza sauce and did not feel it was too sweet (Ledo's is sweeter which we like). We also really liked their hand cut fries (not frozen and hard to find today). Ok.. I know, when you think of pizza, the word kosher does not immediately come to mind but hear me out. I am actually a Wheaton native, having lived here for more than 20 years of my adult life. I first tried Nuthouse back when I was in high school some 20 years ago and let's just say I didn't really like what I was given. I had this conception of pizza that borders the narcissistic and that if it wasn't a Maryland style, Detroit style, New York slice or Chicago deep dish, I didn't want it. Needless to say, this was none of those. Fast forward 20 years and I decided to give this place another try and man oh man was I blown away. The slices I got were cheese and veggie and they both hit the mark. Now I know a lot of people don't like sweet marinara sauce which is understandable, and this one is a little bit on the sweeter side, so if that's something you don't enjoy, you probably should just stay away from this pizza entirely, however if you can manage it, this pizza is as good as any place out there. The dough is amazing with a nice slight crisp, the sauce blends in well and the cheese is exact. Don't ever let anyone tell you that kosher mozzarella taste like tofu ever again. The slices held up well and the veggie slice even more so, was packed with tomatoes, onions, mushrooms, and some other vegetable which is currently not coming to mind. The place also does a sushi bar but yours truly has a shellfish allergy and no want of an epipen. To my anaphylactic's out there, my sympathy. Also a huge shout out to Berto behind the line who makes it all happen. He's very warm and friendly and willing to accommodate even your strangest of customizations so long as it's kosher. Get it? Is this thing on? In any event, I can understand your hesitance when it comes to kosher pizza and the bad rap that comes with it, but give this place a try and just like myself, I think you'll be pleasantly surprised. I'm grateful Yelp didn't exist in 2000 or I wouldn't be here ranting and raving about just how good this pizza actually is. Mazel Tov! read more

This place has been around forever & has been known to employ wonderful intellectually disabled people for decades. Been coming here since I was a kid. Great little community pizza place with friendly service and super casual atmosphere. horrible customer service I went in on a Saturday night and ordered two pies and some fries and as I went to pay the guy in front of me only paid nine dollars of his 75$ order and Ira made me pay for the rest and I gave him a piece of my mind. do not recommend. he did not give us our money back. horrible customer service I ain't going back to that price of crap. read more

The Nut House Pizza lacks quality control. I have ordered from them numerous times and cannot get consistent quality food. Today I order a Felafel wrap, the Felafel were over cooked and too crispy, plus, the items in the wrap were few and no hummus was added as shown would be included. The 1/2 veggie Pizza was Pizza that had been sitting with vegetables thrown on top and reheated. The crust was to chewy. The vegetables fell off as they were not blended with the cheese. I keep kosher and there are few places to order from. I would hope that with a captive market the food would be a better quality and taste. I have had food delivered several times, they just cannot get it right. read more

I always thought that even bad pizza was still good. Not anymore. I ordered an extra large plain pizza three days ago. The pizza was the worst I had ever tasted. The sauce was bitter, the cheese excessively salty and the crust was limp and tasteless. Really shameful that an establishment would allow such a product out the door. read more

I got sick after eating a meatball sub from this place. The guy making the sandwich was on his cell and the meatballs were pulled from a 5-gallon bucket. This sounds horrible as I'm writing the review and believe me, it was. There are other reviews that mention the lack of hygiene of the person prepping food and I have to agree that from what I experienced, it's not the safest place to pickup a slice or sub. read more

Wow this pizza is good! I was surprised by the flavor since on the outside it doesn't look like much more than a tiny store front. I was hungry and walked past it and thought "why not" so I gave it a try and I'm sure glad I did. I will definitely be returning more often. read more

Ordered a medium pepperoni and what I got was... interesting...I'm pretty sure this was just four separate slices that were sitting under the heat lamp. Never ordered pizza and gotten these kind of pepperonis. The taste is mediocre. I scraped off the "pepperonis". The guy was nice enough at least. read more

We heard this place was good from a local. Literally the WORST pizza we've ever had: it's a little hole in the wall pizza parlor without ventilation so you're literally breathing smoke from the french fry oil the minute you walk in. The crusts are pre-made, they forgot to put sauce and toppings on the pizza, and it was too tough to chew without hurting your jaw after 1 slice. When we told them they forgot the toppings, they took it back, put like 5 pieces of cut up colorless tomato without reheating and then charged us $3 for "toppings." The minute we finished eating, I felt a wave of nausea come over me for the rest of the day. Our other friends told us they've had a similar experience there and that it's very common to feel sick afterward. Paid $30 for this experience. Would have rather done an Ayahuasca trip. Sooo yeah! As every Saturday night and our house we have a tradition to pay a visit didn't pick up our favorite pie from Nut house. Although I could do without the long line it's still pays off to wait because their pizza is very good the customer service is very friendly and the pizza is always delicious and comes out very fast. I do not like the set up of the store inside and never want to sit there because it's outdated but no matter the food is great and me and my family enjoy it at home with great pleasure definitely recommend read more

I wanted to try a new place for pizza in Wheaton, having had Ledo's a lot. I ordered a pepperoni, sausage and onion, and a medium cheese. Both were very disappointing. There was no evidence of pepperoni at all. The sausage looked like diced hot dog. The crust was tasteless. I couldn't really taste the sauce and the cheese was nondescript. Between the two pizzas, we ate three pieces (each person ate one, or part of one, piece). We tossed the rest and ordered from somewhere else. Disappointing. Never going back. read more

This is the best KOSHER pizza in the silver spring-rockville area! The people are very nice and warm, the waiting time for the pizza to be ready is about 10-15 minutes and they have the well done version (its my favorite :) Overall three is not many kosher pizzas in the area so that makes nut house the best option read more

I went there it was closed until he came in to start his job.. he did not wash his hands when he came in i saw him go to the kitchen to get pizza cooking whoa he didn't wash his hands from outside to kichen. He picked something he drop on the floor and not wash hands as he continued to make the pizza. There is ketchup and other jars of opened stuff sitting on the table all night he not put them in fridge. OMG that messy ketchup sitting in room temperature all night. I hate to give small businesses poor reviews, but I didn't like the pizza we recently had from there at all. It reminded me why we hadn't ordered from them in a while. After a busy day we decided to just pick up a pizza. Our favorite place wasn't open for some reason, so we decided to order from Nut House Pizza. Maybe it's a matter of taste, but I found the sauce way too sweet. The pizza was also a little greasier than hoped for. The husband thought the pizza was so-so, but the tween ate the leftovers for breakfast, so I guess she thought it was okay. I'm afraid sweet tomato sauce is a deal breaker for me, so we won't be ordering from there again. read more

I knew this place was kosher, but the Nut House PIzza website says it is open until 9 p.m. even on Fridays. Between that and the fact that Ben's Kosher Deli in New York is open on Friday nights, I decided it was worth the drive from Rockville this past Friday. I was wrong. I hoped I'd at least be able to get a pie to go before sundown, but when I arrived, the place was closed and appeared to have been closed for several hours. My issue is not that the place closes early for Shabbat; Max's - my go-to in Wheaton - is only open from 11 to 2 on Fridays and does not open at all on Saturday night, but the Max's website shares the accurate schedule. Nut House must get enough business that alienating potential customers is not a concern. I'll probably give it another chance and actually try the pizza, but Nut House already has a strike against them. read more

Awful. The crust is pre-cooked. The pizza was done in less than 5 minutes, therefore the cheese wasn't even melted and the veggies were soggy. Did I mention the "pepperoni" was microwaved? Kosher Pizza is the mainstay at this simple parlor restaurant which has a tunnel oven and mostly takeout pizza which is in spite of my rating quite good. Other items include freshly slivered French fries, knishes and various vegetarian versions of sandwiches, some named after members of the local community. It is small with a few tables and chairs and overall décor shows considerable wear and really needs to be addressed and improved. In particular fresh bottles of spices would be a huge help to improve the eat-in or takeout experience (which can be rather unpleasant) and my rating.
