It's been quite some time since I've been to Amina Thai and was in the mood so...here we are. We decided on Pad Thai (chicken), Drunken noodles (Shrimp), and samosas...wow. Delicious. You can adjust the heat (we chose medium) and the portions are generous. Keep in mind that Thai food can be extremely spicy, so choose wisely :D I can't get over how exceptional everything tasted. I remember it being good but not like this. The chicken tasted CLEAN (this requires a full-blown conversation to explain) and had the perfect bite. If you're ordering takeout then make sure to mix the noodles before eating. The samosas were PERFECT. Is it pricier than other places? Yes. Does the taste match the price? Also yes. Keep in mind that sometimes it's because of the ingredient quality and where it comes from. Some are simply more expensive than others. My attitude towards Thai food is a bit of a love/hate situation, but Amina just might put me back on the love wagon. Some places have this overwhelming fishy taste in everything, which I truly hate. Its great! I love the food!!! We ordered for my family and they gave us free thai tea. The atmosphere is great. Me and my family used to always go so it gave me nostalgia! I ordered takeout from Amina Thai for a dinner with friends and every bite was amazing- we got the drunken noodles with beef, a green curry with tofu, and Tom Kha and each was delicious & made fresh. They called ahead with a question on the order to make sure they got everything right, which I appreciated. When I went in to pick the food up the staff was super nice, and the restaurant itself had a nice, relaxing vibe. I'll be eating there next time for the whole experience! read more

Amina Thai in Silver Spring, MD has been a good experience on the few occasions I have dined. Their style and production of Thai cuisine seems to be consistent with that of others of similar caliber in the area and DMV as a whole. Their staple dishes such as Drunken Noodles, Thai Fried Rice, Kaprow Fried Rice, Pad Broccoli and such are pretty much consistent with the way in which others of similar caliber produce it in the DMV. The food here is always fresh and delicious. I am satisfied with the quantity of food you get for the price you pay. I recommend exercising caution when experimenting with their menu items that specifically indicate SPICY because in my experience spicy here means loaded which chili pepper and almost to the point where you might miss the overall flavor of the dish due to the heat being so much in the foreground. Storefront street parking is terrible so you'll need to take advantage of nearby parking garages if you are not walking. Overall a good experience. I'll continue to patronize this place. I don't understand the 4 star reviews for this place. Ordered their yellow curry, which was bland and had no veg, which is strange for Thai food. I dug for them, and literally found one potato smh. My partner ordered the overpriced seafood fried rice that had two pieces of shrimp, and a mix of unseasoned canned crab meat. It's clear there's no pride in their food preparation here. Do yourself a favor and pick another place to dine. read more

Finally gave Amina Thai a try for carry out. We got Pad Thai w/ tofu & vegetables, Jungle Curry with beef ( both at 2-star 'medium' spicy), and mango salad. I had a 30 minute drive home and we ate as soon as I arrived. We loved all the dishes. Salad: Ingredients were fresh and not overly-dressed. Salad was red onion, iceberg lettuce, mango, tomatoes, cashews and shredded carrots, dressed in a hot chili dressing. I think this is the first time a salad determined my beverage for the meal (milk). I don't consider the heat to be a negative; I've become a bit of a light-weight when it comes to food heat as my kids will claim and a bit of milk was all it took to enjoy my portion. Pad Thai: ordered ours with Tofu and Vegetables. Tofu was fried up perfectly, veg had just the right amount of crunch. Ordered it 'medium' spicy, we could have handled hotter, now I know for future orders. Jungle Curry: this one intrigued me so it has to be part of the order. Lemongrass, lime leaf and galangal were well-balanced (at least to my tastes, I love lemongrass) and provided a delightfully aromatic flavor profile. This will go on my favorites list while I'm working on a construction project a few doors down. COVID take-out: I do not think they have reopened to indoor diners yet. They have a doorbell outside which I dutifully rang when I arrived. Few minutes early. They quickly answered, took my name and had me verify my name before leaving with my food. Social distancing observed, masks required, masks and gloves worn by staff. Sometimes I find that dishes don't have a great differentiation in restaurants focusing on specific global cuisines. 3.5 Stars. I ordered beef pad Thai and spring rolls from here through GrubHub. The food arrived hot and slightly ahead of schedule. The spring rolls were good. Nice and crispy! The pad thai, however, was quite sweet. The beef in it was also tough and a bit overcooked. It tasted okay, but I could only manage to eat a few bites of it because it was just so sweet. I had a question about my order and when I called the restaurant, the staff person was very nice and she quickly and kindly addressed my concern, so points for that as well! read more

I'm a huge fan of Thai cuisine. Drunken noodles (extra spicy) is my staple. Earlier today was my first time here. I've honestly never even noticed the place before and I'm sure it's been around awhile. I ordered take-out...only option right now other than delivery due to Covid-19. You can't even go inside. You have to scan the menu, place an order online, pre-pay and they'll text you when it's ready. There's a doorbell and they bring the order to a table outside. If others are waiting, you must maintain at least 6 feet apart distance and be wearing a mask. Kudos for these precautions!! After placing my order, I received a notification letting me know it would be ready in 20 minutes. I went to grab a drink at Silver Strings a few doors down while I waited. Now onto the food... not the best Thai I've had and definitely not the worst, but with soooo many options in the area, this place won't be on the list of places I'd ever be in a hurry to try again. The noodles seemed overcooked and the chicken lacked flavor. My friend and I were in silver spring for Nao's concert at the Fillmore and decided to get something to eat before the concert. We saw Amina Thai and went in. We noticed there was only one other group of people sitting. We asked if we could have a table for 2 and then she pointed over to a table so we sat. She didn't introduce herself but gave us menus and asked what we would like to drink. I said water for now. So my friend and I are looking over the menu trying to decide what to eat, we noticed it's a little pricier than we expected but we assumed since this is an "authentic" Thai restaurant it should be worth it. The server came back with 2 cups and a pitcher of water and then left. I noticed that the water had like little bubbles forming at the top (sorry I wish I had a picture), which made me think she gave us tap water. Lukewarm tap water at that. She never came back to see what we wanted. Then I was like hmmm let me look up some Yelp reviews and I saw a mix of 4 star and 1 star reviews. I also saw pictures of the food that didn't look like authentic Thai food. We sat for at least 10-15 more minutes looking over then menu and she never came back. We decide to leave and then we saw her and told her that we had to leave but thank you. She kinda shrugged us off. So we went next door to Koite Grill instead. I wouldn't recommend Amina Thai unfortunately. I'm not sure if the server was having a bad day or just didn't want us there. read more

Amina Thai is one of the several wonderful Thai restaurants in Silver Spring. It is halal so they serve no pork or alcohol. This was a favorite of our best friend of blessed memory and they were nice to let him pay for his meal by check when his card was not working. We last ordered from there last month on Uber seats and ordered a Drunken Noodles with Beef, a Spicy Noodles Soup with Chicken, and a Yum Ma-Muang (Mango Salad). The portions were generous so we had leftovers. We look forward to both eating in and ordering from them for delivery or takeout again in the future. read more

We saw the reviews and were surprised to see a small I decorated restaurant. What they lack in decor they make up completely in food. We got the spicy kapow and the drunken noodle. Both had so much flavor and spice. I asked for spicy chili fish sauce but didn't need to add any at all. The portions are smaller than I'm used to in Virginia but it was still sufficient. I've been dining and ordering take out from this establishment for a while now (years). This place never disappoints, I've taken my parents, friends, boyfriend to this place whenever I'm feeling the need to have good authentic Thai food. You can never go wrong with whatever you order. Since it's covid season, they don't accept dine in but they've been tirelessly working around the clock for take out orders. They have another establishment in Rockville (OG restaurant) and their food quality never changes. I'd 10000% recommend this restaurant to anyone. Tried their food for the first time. Got Pad Thai and Pumpkin Curry. They were both a bit too spicy but the portion was very generous. I think this is definitely a traditional authentic flavor so definitely good if you're looking for that! What I really did appreciate was the customer service! I went to pick up on a rainy Friday night during the COVID crisis. They were quick to complete the order and when I called to ask if they could bring out the order for me up front, they had a table with sanitizer, gloves and napkins for people. I have no idea what the restaurant looks like, what the customer service is like, or even what the ambiance is, but I know that this was, hands down, some of the best Thai food I've had in a decade or more. We ordered 4 different dishes and the spring roll appetizer because there were 5 of us and barring the 2 year old, we all wanted to try it. Then, we ordered the Pad Phik Khing, the Pad Priao Wan, the spicy tofu (fried), and drunken noodles (mild). We ordered everything except the drunken noodles spicy. And, even though this was our first time ordering, it was spicy. I cannot tell you how many times we've done a family style dinner only to have a repeat of the same sauces with different ingredients, I love chili basil sauce the same as the next person, but I have to admit, there was SOMETHING distinctive about each of these dishes and we absolutely LOVED the food. We found ourselves wanting to eat more than we should to avoid the inevitability of someone eating the last bit of leftovers. I have to say this is the best Thai in the area and we have OUR new spot. Wonderful service and food. Not alot of space, but everything was awesome, and our party left satisfied and happy we came here. My favorite Thai place on the East Coast. Period. Im not the biggest fan of the location (busy street in the middle of the city), however its a small price to pay for a perfect meal. Amina Thai was a not a bad spot in Silver Spring for dinner. Walked in to a very spacious and clean restaurant. Service was friendly and quick to take our order. The roti kanai was decent. Although the bread was a little too greasy for my taste, it was crispy and paired well with their yellow curry. I also ordered the panang curry rice dish which was flavorful and tasty. Overall, the food was good but the portion sizes were on the smaller size. For the price, they could increase the serving size a bit. Fortunately, my boyfriend and I arrived on a semi-full stomach so the food portions sufficed, but otherwise, it would've been too little. read more

These drunken noodles were the bomb! If you're looking for really good Thai food in downtown Silver Spring, look no further. I was really pleased with the prices and the flavor of my meal was excellent. I like spice but not an overwhelming amount and I went with the 1.5X spice for my noodles, and I chose perfectly. My wife ordered the pineapple fried rice, with mild seasoning, and enjoyed hers. Though I think she regretted doing mild because there was no heat at all. Others with us ordered curry and they seemed to like their meal. I will definitely be returning. Nice spot! read more

We ordered three dishes: pad sew ew, drunken noodles, and Penang curry. Service was okay; it wasn't overly friendly and a little slow. The food was good but wasn't the best Thai food I ever had. The pad sew ew was the best. The Penang curry wasn't that good and quite oily and watered down. Each dish was 12.99. A pickup order today because I needed to get work done from the hotel room. I placed my order online and it was ready and waiting for me on time when I arrived to pick it up. It's a tidy restaurant and looks like a great date spot! Chicken satay was cooked properly and served on skewers with peanut sauce, as is customary. Tasty! Drunken Noodles was a good portion and medium had a nice bite to it. Plenty of chicken and veggies, not all noodles at all. Still quite warm when I got it back to the hotel. In this case, the ambiance brought down the overall rating. Paint was chipped off the wall in various spots, and there were several marks on the wall. Pictures were crooked, and the place needed an overhaul regarding the design. The green paint on the wall just looked beat up. Some appreciate the hole in the wall establishments. If you appreciate hole in the wall restaurants, have you really experienced luxury in your life? Yes, the chicken pad thai I ordered was good and a rather large portion size. I tried some of my friend's thai ice tea which was rather sweet, but enjoyable. Service was fine, as our food and refills on drinks were brought over in a timely fashion. Silver Spring has a lot of Thai restaurants. Although the food was good, I'll need to check out the other Thai places to really do a fair comparison. The prices have increased and when I asked they mentioned it was because the food was coming from Thailand. I'm not quite sure that's true but ok. What an outstanding little find in Silver Spring.  Absolutely delicious Thai, great service, excellent location, and all around lovely environment. Earp and Family have an outstanding restaurant here in the heart of Silver Spring at 8624 Colesville Road. The Tom Yum (Chicken or Tofu with mushrooms and tomatoes in hot and sour spicy lemon grass broth) is really, really good! The Pad Thai (Shrimp, stir-fried with thin rice noodles egg, red bean curd, scallions, bean sprouts served with crushed peanuts and fresh bean sprouts) is just superb! The Thai Fried Rice (Chicken, Thai style fried rice with egg peas, carrots and onions served with tomatoes and cucumber) is delicious! Everything was rounded out with a pot of hot brewed Jasmine tea, and capped off with the house specialty Mango Sticky Rice (Wow!) Service:  Exceptional!  Everyone from Earp & Wife to the rest of the entire staff were very attentive to everyone's needs, checked in regularly, and delivered every part of our order just as requested.  What an outstanding group! Ordered take out chicken Pad Thai and kra prow beef. The beef was old a bit oily and not much flavor good spice. The pad Thai noodles were totally over cooked and really not edible, ended up In the trash. I wouldn't recommend to anyone in the future or visit again. read more

Fantastic Thai food! We got vegetable steamed dumplings, spring rolls, vegetable and tofu pad Thai, chicken pad Thai, and the spicy kaprow with chicken. Everyone was so happy with the food and the pad Thai came with so much we had leftovers! We couldn't resist trying the mango sticky rice and banana fritters for dessert and both were phenomenal.
