I ordered for the first time here through DoorDash and made a couple adjustments. I noticed two added charges on my bill. One for extra chicken which was legitimate and the other to hold the tomatoes on the fried rice. Really? An added charge to take an ingredient out? Super cheap. From the owners of Thai Express in Gaithersburg, this is a needed fast casual Thai restaurant in the heart of Bethesda. I was happy to see that 15 minutes transpired before the food was brought. Clearly, fresh ingredients were cooked to order. And it showed in the freshness of the dishes. We had the Shrimp Pad Thai. The noodles were light, with a nice mix of bean sprouts, crunched peanuts, eggs, and scallions. The flavor was correct for this dish. The Shrimp were six moderately sized pieces. They were properly cooked, but I would have liked them better if they were grilled first. Our other dish was the Chicken Green Curry. Two chili peppers on the menu loomed large, but we went for it. I would put the heat at maybe six out of 10. Although very noticeable, it did not obscure the coconut curry taste. The chicken was moist and tender, bathing in that nice curry broth. Orders were taken at the counter, and brought to the table. 9 tables, and a small counter with seating, were easily filled on this busy Saturday night. This place HANDS DOWN has the best Thai food in the downtown Bethesda area. The portions are great and they charge less than other sub-par Thai places in the area. Their flavors are infused with the freshest ingredients - none of that artificially bottled or powdered stuff. They also always get the orders correct - even with special instructions - which is important during COVID. I've ordered their pad thai. It is absolutely delicious. The noodles are still chewy (i.e. asian al dente) and the flavors are authentic. MUST ask for the chili powder if you like the extra kick! Their drunken noodle is also equally delicious. It has the perfect amount of spice and you can really taste the Thai basil flavor mixed with the fresh garlic in their seasoning. The pineapple fried rice is also an excellent choice. I got take-out and the order was ready 20 minutes later with napkins and utensils ready in the bag. I got the chicken green curry with added vegetables and it was very good. I got "medium" spicy which was a bit spicier than I expected. Would probably go lighter next time. But flavor was great. Lots of kitchen staff touching their mouthes and noses in the back. The worst part is that a cook emerged from the kitchen walking toward the front of the restaurant BRUSHING THEIR TEETH!
