This is the most amazing Thai food I have had in Silver Spring. It's a little bit pricier than some of the other spots, but you truly get what you pay for. I love their southern style pad thai. It is anything but basic. It's always moist and flavorful. All of the vegetables are crispy and not soggy, or overcooked with no signs of having sat out for a long time. My experience with this restaurant has been through delivery. However, that makes me give them even more credit because the food always comes fresh, hot, not dry or poorly packaged. I'm ready to give it five stars based on that experience, so I'm sure dining in is even better. read more

Business lunch was so good. Tried one of the specials that was based off of a viral movie and it was so delicious. Our server recommended the best items. It was super quiet in the restaurant this day which was perfect for our meeting. The new restaurant decor make for a sweet Instagram moment 10/10 read more

The kitchen here does impress me every time. The flavors are distinct and true. They ask about spice level and don't try to burn your mouth off with spice (and I like hot spicy food) but sometimes it's nice if someone asks and I'm feeling differently that day. The young servers go out of their way to be attentive; checking on you refreshing your water it's a pleasant experience instead of having to chase absent staff or think am I going to have to get the water myself before I dehydrate into powder sitting in the booth. read more

I love this place! The food is amazing. My favorite dish is the Street Noodles. Prices are reasonable, service is friendly, and it's great if you're with friends or dining alone. read more

The food was delish! I had Lamb Mamussam (might have spelled that wrong), but it was so good and right amount of spice. Thai tea was exceptional as well! Only four stars because I was not able to get a side of chicken by itself. Was told I would have to order a whole new meal by itself. But, I will be coming back. read more

We had eaten at Thai at Silver Spring years ago and had not been back since. Friends wanted to meet there and after getting our food we realized why the long gap in visits. Rich and I tend to eat light so we ordered appetizers, the fried calamari and healthy spring rolls. Two of our friends had vegetable entrees and the other two had beef. Rich also ordered a Mai Tai and I had a Singapore Sling. The drinks were delicious, totally enjoyed my Mai Tai. But the calamari was so chewy it was almost inedible. Rich will eat anything so he choked it down. The spring rolls were good, but we ordered them with chicken and I didn't see any evidence of chicken in them. They were crunchy, seemed to be mainly a nice wedge of cucumber in a wrap. They were decent but not what I expected, but that's my fault. While our choices were a little disappointing our friends really seemed to be enjoying their meals. One even said to the organizer "Great choice to come here!" One bright spot for us was the service was outstanding. The restaurant was almost empty while were were there so we had the full attention of the staff and they did not disappoint. If our friends wanted to meet there again we would happily agree to it, but we would definitely rethink our meal choices, but not our beverages! read more

As THE Billy Thai [TM] I eat at many hundreds of area Thais. My favorite dish is Pad Prik Khing, any meat choice is fine. I usually go with chicken first, then beef and then pork. This restaurant gets it right each and every time as it's large portions of delectable sauteed meats and fresh crisp yellow and red bell peppers. I'm slightly handicapped and I don't even mind the steep stair climb up to the second level. Well worth it!!! Been here several times. read more

Thai at Silver Spring is a decent Thai restaurant in downtown Silver Spring. The menu is extensive, and they have a lot of traditional Thai dishes, as well as a mix of not so traditional dishes for those with less sophisticated palates. I ordered the traditional Thai dish of "basil chicken" or "ka pow." They have two version on the menu, one is the traditional Thai way of diced meat, and the other version is sliced Anyway, the basil chicken wasn't bad, the portion was generous, maybe too generous, but the flavor was too sweet - and trust me on this, I lived in Thailand and know how this dish should taste. My partner's dish was not a traditional Thai dish, also a huge portion, so at least you are getting a lot for your money. The papaya salad wasn't bad, not the best, but I could eat it again. They also have an extensive alcohol menu, but PLOT TWIST, they do not currently have an alcohol license so not sure why they even handout the drink menu. In summary, not a bad place if you really have an itch for Thai food, but the Thai restaurants in Virginia are much better and more authentic. 3/5 read more

Service was quick and friendly. The food was cooked fresh to order and of food quality. The only issue was the branzino was over-fried and the vegetables and fish had no seasoning. However, the sauce provided more than enough flavoring for both. I would try this place again, there were a couple of other items on the menu that grabbed my attention. read more

This is the worst Thai place I have ever eaten. First of all, on every table there is a disclaimer saying that they will not exchange or replace any foods that you don't like. My dish cost me $26.95 and my lamb and potatoes were not cooked. It was hard. The curry sauce was very salty. Eat at your own risk!!! read more

Pretty stand up Thai spot in Silver Spring. We stopped by here because . . . well we didn't have a real reason except for being hungry in the area. The food was pretty good and reasonably priced. Also, our server made sure that we did not have to wait very long for another round of beverages. Looking forward to visiting again when I have another Thai craving. read more

Large, Mostly empty, charmless room. Drinks menu presented then told no drinks available. Food at best conventional.

Everything was absolutely delicious and served at the perfect temperature. I haven't encountered any issues at all. While it may be on the pricier side, it's well worth every penny, and the portions are generous. It was so good I di get pictures. read more

While on a lunch break, my coworker and I decided to check this spot out. It wasn't really crowded so we were able to get our food quick, fast and in a hurry. Not as good as other Thai places in the area. The noodles I had were fairly bland compared to other places in the area like kao thai. Arrived at noon on a Friday, seating was immediate due to a lack on diners. The restaurant is decorated for the holidays without losing its Asian flavor. I soon had a Siam Mule and was reviewing the menu. I was anxious to compare the curry to what's in my hometown. The descriptions seemed unexciting so I selected Street Noodles based on the listed ingredients. They came quickly and were very good, right on the edge of being too spicy, my favorite level. The quantity was more than I could eat. A good value for the money. The noodles with a cocktail was $36, the drink almost as much as the noodles read more

One of my favorite Thai places in the area! The food is aways delicious and comes out quickly. I got the pineapple fried rice and the flavor was rich and it came it the cutest little pineapple bowl. It was also so filling with a few different kinds of meat. I ended up taking about half of it home. I also got some custard sticky rice dessert. It was also pretty yummy. While the service can be a bit slow, the food is always worth it. They also do pickup and delivery which is much faster and works during busier days. I definitely recommend when you're in the mood for Thai! read more

I enjoy food from numerous Asian restaurants and none are better for quality and consistency of preparation than Thai at Silver Spring. We ordered seven dishes there recently (12/20/25) and all were prepared very well, with an excellent variety of ingredients and generous amounts of tofu, duck, and beef in their preparation. It is a gem in Silver Spring; please please patronize this restaurant, we deserve quality restaurants like this in Silver Spring. read more

Great food. Kind staff. A family favorite for years! We recommend the duck roll, honey breaded shrimp and pad Jae.

Been to a many Thai restaurants in the DMV. I haven't been fond of many because it's usually Asian fusion instead of being specific to the food in the restaurant names. This restaurant is no diffident if not less. The good quality was low and although the time was near to the closing of the restaurant I did still expect some freshness and better quality. The hostess was amazing and friendly but this couldn't offset the disappointment I had of the food. I got the Pad Khing Sod and the staple the mango sticky rice. The mango sticky rice was the best item of the whole meal. My friend had the jacketed shrimp and the crispy pork basil. I tasted his and like the jacketed shrimp I enjoyed. I wouldn't recommend this spot in the silver spring area if you are looking for Thai food or even Asian fusion. Personally I would place it at one of the lowest of the Thai restaurants I have visited. But if you are looking for a late night Thai spot, this location is more than likely the only option. read more

Our waiter was super friendly and the food was perfect. We had mussels as an appetizer which came with a sweet and spicy sauce. I had the pad see ew which was super filling and flavorful. My boyfriend had the lamb in two seasons but omitted the coconut lamb since he isn't a fan of coconut milk. He said he enjoyed it. Lastly, for dessert we had the lychee cheesecake. While it tasted good, it just seemed to be a small slice of plain cheesecake with one piece of lychee fruit on top. Had I known this, I would have skipped ordering it. Nothing special here. They served us with paper and plastic products. Perhaps this is due to COVID restrictions. I've not seen this done at a restaurant before. read more

Love this place!!! Fast, friendly and delicious. Great location with plenty of shopping nearby.

I believe there are better Thai places in downtown silver spring than this. QUARANTINE Review: I ordered the wings, drunken noodles, curry duck and curry puffs. Overall the food was average the service is what sucked The drunken noodles were dry I ordered spicy and they def added extra spice in there I think tht was the best part. The duck was soft and delicious paired with white rice. The wings were ehh! They were too crispy and just seemed like they threw some sauce on top. Wasn't what I expected honestly had to throw them away from eating two cuz they just weren't good. Service: so I ordered on their app which was pretty easy. You can add tip via the app when you order. I didn't,I forgot because I was distracted and just hit submit. I didn't really think too much about it as I used to be a server and if someone didn't tip me for a take out order I was okay with that. Anyways, food comes to be dropped off and this man has the nerve to say to my boyfriend umm tip wasn't included and sticks out his hand as in signaling where's my money. My boyfriend says umm we don't have cash the guy says no tip receipt and continues to ask for tip. We ended up having to search for some singles cuz the guy wasn't leaving and he waited outside for the 10 minutes we were looking Tip is optional and we are not obligated to tip drivers. I think this was rude and just bad customer service. Def not ordering again or going to this place when quarantine is over. read more

I enjoyed the food here. I had the drunken noodles with chicken. I chose level 3 spice and it was spicy! If you are not someone who likes spicy food I recommend level 1. Although the noodles were spicy, it was still flavorful. My date had the pineapple fried rice. It came in a wooden pineapple bowl and we were expecting an actual half pineapple. The pineapples didn't taste fresh. He also asked for level 3 spice and it was too much to bear. The place was nice and quiet. Even with a baby shower happening in the private room, it was still quiet enough to have a conversation. I also had the Thai iced tea which was good. The waitress was nice but not very attentive. I think it was because of the baby shower. She might have otherwise paid more attention to the table. I would definitely go back and try their food at a lower spice level. read more

We enjoy the food here and it is consistently good and fast! We came here today with unexpected our od town visitors. I know I can come here and get seated, good food that is delivered quickly and tastes great! The pad Thai is really good and the lamb in two seasons was especially good. One side is spicy and one is more mild. We also ordered calamari and it was some of the largest calamari I've ever seen. It looked like onion rings instead of calamari. Delicious! read more

Food: The steamed dumplings were fairly small for $5 but were pretty tasty with the sauce. The crabmeat fried rice was moist, but did have not much flavor. It was semi bland to me and it could have used more sauce in it. The portion size of the fried was decent. Service: The food came out pretty quickly. Our server came around to see if we needed anything regularly and refilled my water without being asked. Although when we were there between 5:15-6:30, it was not busy at all for peak time. Ambience: For an Asian restaurant, I was pleasantly surprised as the decor was more on the upscale side. The hat shaped light fixtures added an interesting flair. Most Asian restaurants I go to are more casual. My boss did say though that she would be less inclined to come back because the table felt sticky. read more

This restaurant is located in downtown Silver Spring and we dined at 5:30PM on Sunday before a concert at the Fillmore. I made a reservation by phone beforehand, but there were empty tables available. The service was great and the food came quickly! We loved the Seafood Hot Pot and Fried Rice. However the Lemongrass Chicken was not good. The chicken was tough and the dish had no flavor. Additionally the portion sizes were smaller than other Thai restaurants I've visited. However, overall we had a good experience. read more

Let's start with a general truism: a-okay is a-okay. If you go to Thai at Silver Spring, you are not going to get bad food. If you go to Thai at Silver Spring, you are not going to get great food. The food here is very consistent. Consistently mediocre. It's not expensive and the service is fine. It is the epitome of three stars. I've been here several times and each time the food was fine. Today (when I realized I hadn't written a review for this location yet), I had the Thai Curry Noodle Soup (alleged to be "Egg noodles with marinated chicken, carrot, potato, onion, and spicy massaman curry"). It was fine. The noodles were under-cooked but just a little (they MIGHT have been twice cooked which can also make them seem "al dente"). The "marinated chicken" was definitely boiled and by probably an extra fifteen minutes too long. It tasted like it came straight out of a chicken noodle soup. It was labeled as being spicy but if by "spicy" they mean salty, then it was spicy (but it wasn't spicy...at all). Generally the soup was a-okay and you could sense that it was supposed to be Thai flavored. Again, the service was fine. The people were pleasant. The decor is okay. The music (lots of Maroon-5) was a little odd...but not off putting. Here's the bottom line: if your goal is to eat a meal that isn't bad, then you can go here. If your goal is to eat a meal that is excellent, then don't go here. [I'm still trying to figure out why the Thai food in NoVa is consistently better than in Maryland!] read more

Thai At Silver Spring - Thai Curry Noodle Soup: a-okay. - Thai Near Me - Silver Spring, Maryland

Unfortunately, this restaurant has joined the large community of restaurants in which the quality and quantity of food has diminished since the start of the pandemic. I used to frequent this restaurant a lot before the pandemic. However, in the past year alone, I have noticed consistently smaller food portion sizes and a reduction in the quality of food offered. Most recently, I ordered the Drunken noodles (beef) and was given a small sized plastic container of food (granted, I was dining in and not out of the restaurant). The drunken noodles were somewhat bland and absent of a few key ingredients that make most drunken noodles delicious. The only redemptive quality about my meal was the Thai iced tea, which continues to be traditional and authentic. The quality of customer service is inconsistent at best, and largely unpredictable. There is really only 1 waitress on staff now who makes eye contact and is attentive to customers. The others seem to roll their eyes, disengage, and don't check in on you until it's time to collect the check. It's unfortunate that a lot of their original staff members have left, because the quality of customer care has certainly left with them. Overall, I would not recommend eating at this restaurant, as there are many other Thai restaurants in the area, and this one simply doesn't stand out anymore. read more

This may not be the best Thai place in DTSS because their entrees are all pretty basic. However, when you select extra spicy they actually had some heat unlike many other places (white people shouldn't try it). Their apps are some of my favorites such as: Healthy rolls- tasty and fresh. I can't find anything similar to them anywhere else and that is a shame. Nua num tok- spicy and savory beef in one heck of a sauce. A must have! Chicken satay- pretty solid here. I am also a fan of their mango sticky rice and Thai iced tea. read more

Had a large party at this restaurant. The food was good and the service was decent though not as attentive. That could have been due to the size of our party though. This spot has always been a favorite of mine ever since I was a teenager. Besides the wait staff being super friendly, the food is BOMBTASTIC. I know that's hardly a real adjective, but I wasn't sure what would express the strong flavors so well. The Drunken noodle with chicken is always my go to (I usually get it medium spicy), but the times I felt more adventurous, both the Crispy Duck and Panang curry were delicious! The balance of crispy and tender on the duck was perfect, and the panang curry wasn't too sweet or watered-down like some places; it was just right with a little extra kick So if you're ever looking for a good Thai spot in the silver spring area, here's a gem right in the center . read more

I got the chicken String Bean in Chili Paste with a side of Fried Rice! It was really good! Highly recommend!

I feel like this is a good place to take someone who is a real newbie with Thai food. If you are a connoisseur, maybe this isn't the spot for you. (For instance, I, being a snob about Thai food, felt very sniffy because these guys did not give me a spoon. How am I supposed to eat without a spoon?!! That's not how Thais roll!) But okay, let's look at the good stuff: First of all, they have inside seating. In this astounding year, I'm actually really happy to find this! They're very very serious about maintaining hygeine and minimizing contact -- they don't even give you the menu; you have to scan the QR code and see it on your phone. They use all paper and plastic for service. My dining companion, The Queen of the Damned, had not been out in a very long time. We both enjoyed this meal a lot. Service was pretty good. There were four standouts from the things we tried. The Curry Puffs were crisp and savory. The special of the day, Crispy Pork with Basil, was everything you could want. The true winner, Larb Kai, really knocked my socks off. Despite the slightly lower rating I had to give this place, I would definitely go downtown just to eat this Larb again. And the old stalwart, Sticky Rice with Mango -- well, it never fails to please. They had a generous selection of vegetarian items on the menu. There's an elevator to the upper deck where this place is, so I think it's pretty accessible. Park in the Wayne Ave garage. read more
