Four stars, not many reviews , but still decided to try it out. Calzone and sweet heat wings. Both were trash. The calzone dough taste like a loaf of white bread. No exaggeration when I say 2 pepperonis , 1 sausage and 1 green pepper inside. Was more like a cheese calzone. Nonetheless the meats had no taste to them whatsoever. As for the wings . Super salty. Tough. Only positive about this experience was the food being hot. Oh almost forgot about the marinara... trash. I mean unless you like your sauce tasting like it's straight out of a can/jar.

Detroit pizza near the Pike? I'm there. And so it was that I wound up at Pizza Monkey, staring at a garage door, wondering if my GPS had made a mistake. But a garage door seems apt for a Detroit Pizza, no? I ordered the vegetarian and it presented well - bright cheese with scattered veggies and two racing stripes of sauce. Only downside was that it seemed a little undercooked. No matter, the flavors were there. Detroit pizza hasn't taken hold of the DMV just yet, but when it does, I think Pizza Monkey will be able to compete.

I am obsessed with Pizza Monkey and their delicious Detroit-style pizza! Their calzones are stuffed and their bright, slightly sweet, mouth-watering sauce has to be my favorite part of every bite (so you know it's good!). Their toppings are fresh and generous. Service at this location has always been prompt and kind, especially when the owner and his family are working the window (his teenaged son makes the sauce and works there after school, from what it seems like, I think that's so sweet). This is mainly a carry out location, room inside the pick up area is pretty tight, but there are a few outdoor tables to eat at right outside in the parking lot. I believe the business is open Thursdays- Sundays currently. They operate out of Corned Beef King's kitchen (another amazing local business to support). There has always been plenty of parking (free, all outdoor) at the location.

I Really luv Chicago style pizza that's my number #1. New york use to be number #2 but now that I have tried Detroit style I'm a big fan. The pizza was ridiculously good with fresh high quality ingredients you can taste. Owner was cool as well. Also the shop is in another place called cornbeef but if you are in the area definitely check them out.

A little slice of Detroit...reminds me of my time there with Buddies-styled square pizza baked to perfection-crisp on the sides, but still hearty in the middle, along with Vernors pop. Hope they do super well!

This appears to be a shared test kitchen. The pizza was underwhelming. I will not be returning.

Having traveled and dined across the globe, I did not expect homemade pasta, fresh espresso, and Neapolitan style pizza to be in Rockville MD. If you live within an hour drive, just take the trip and have lunch or dinner here. Try the espresso martini! I shared a cheese pizza with my daughter, my mother had the chicken piccata, my cousin the gnocchi, my father the chicken parm, my cousin had a caprese salad and the further seats I couldn't see. We all shared a few orders of the calamari. EVERYONE raved about how delicious their food was. I agree. Probably the best piccata I've tasted. The pizza was excellent. The tiramisu great. The pistachio gelato was perfect. I sure wish they were closer to Florida!! So good.

The biggest hit for me was the suppli appetizer. These are absolutely delicious and vegetarian friendly! Similar to arancini but somehow even more delicious. These are a must-order. I had the pasta alla vongole and a bite of my husband's chicken parmigiana. Our friend had mushroom ravioli that she loved, but I didn't try as I don't care for mushrooms. I've been on a clams and garlic kick lately for some reason and the vongole comes with these and bonus bacon. I would have preferred the bacon a tad crispier, but that is personal preference. I'd give this dish 4* - I would get it again but after trying some others. From the one bite the chicken parmigiana was a 5*. Their marinara is very good and the linguine in both our dishes tastes freshly made. We all split the chocolate temptation dessert and I ate more of it than I expected to, it is chocolate mousse adjacent cake with ganache frosting, very light, perfectly sweet. Often I find chocolate desserts too much after a big meal but this one wasn't heavy at all. 5* My friend ordered sangria which she thought was more like a wine cooler; too sweet for her French oenophile sensibilities and a bit lighter than a sangria usually is, but I am a pleb who loves sweet drinks and I would order it. If you are a sangria purist you might not care for it. Hubs enjoyed his old fashioned but said it needed a dash more bitters to be perfect. I was driving so enjoyed a non-dirty Shirley. Prices to me are reasonable for quality and portion size; our tab ended up high because of the appetizer, drinks and dessert but if you just had pizza or pasta with soda it would be pretty affordable. I will be back to get more suppli and try other dishes!

There is a small gravel parking lot (it shares a wall with China East) and seems very conveniently placed between neighborhoods. There isn't any place to sit indoors so this definitely a delivery/carryout place. It has been 3 years since my last order and a few things have changed about the menu. The garlic sauce is now an add-on, they have expanded their menu to include wings and vegan options, and now there's an option for a half and half specialty pizza (medium size and larger). Upon picking up the pizza, the gentleman asked if I would like cilantro on the pizza since it is the normal garnish. I ordered a medium half butter chicken and half chicken tikka. The crust has a slight sweetness to it, or maybe it was the sauce with the butter chicken. The chicken was tender and flavorful, the sauce was just the right amount to add flavor without making it a soggy pizza. The green pepper and red onions were diced small which made it easier to eat while also keeping the nice crunch texture. The chicken tikka half had a marinara sauce for the base and the chicken was a bit dry for my preference ( I prefer saucier things). Overall it's a decent pizza and I would like to try some of their other menu items.

Tried two pizzas: Butter Chicken Pizza - rich and creamy flavor. Chicken Tikka Masala Pizza - more tomato-forward, closer to a "regular pizza" taste. Tip: ask for the garlic sauce, it's amazing for dipping the crust. Also eat it right away while it's piping hot!!! So much yummier. Overall, the service was friendly and quick. The staff helped us with recommendations and let us opt for a half-and-half option, yay. There are only a couple of picnic tables outside, so it's mostly takeout, but they also sell Indian snacks and drinks at the front, which is a fun bonus. If I had one wish, it would be for even bolder flavors: more spice, more cilantro, more punch. Still, great spot!
