Medium half butter chicken pizza & half chicken tikka pizza
Julie K.

Fire Indian fusion pizza spot! Love the concept, and the meat was super juicy and flavorful. I demolished a whole medium pizza with no leftovers--definitely will be back. Tried two pizzas: Butter Chicken Pizza - rich and creamy flavor. Chicken Tikka Masala Pizza - more tomato-forward, closer to a "regular pizza" taste. Tip: ask for the garlic sauce, it's amazing for dipping the crust. Also eat it right away while it's piping hot!!! So much yummier. Overall, the service was friendly and quick. The staff helped us with recommendations and let us opt for a half-and-half option, yay. There are only a couple of picnic tables outside, so it's mostly takeout, but they also sell Indian snacks and drinks at the front, which is a fun bonus. If I had one wish, it would be for even bolder flavors: more spice, more cilantro, more punch. Still, great spot!

An unassuming, late night takeout restaurant with bold flavors of India. Apna Pizza is literally a fusion of Indian and American food done right. As someone who represents that cultural mix, I can say for certain that this gets my stamp of approval. Some folks, like my parents, may be purists, so they may want to eat at an Indian restaurant, but for those looking for a bridge not too far and especially the youth, this is it. It's like an elevated late night stall on the streets of India. Tandoori chicken wings, Masala fries, robust flavors of Paneer Pizza, it's a perfect combination for anyone with a global palette. I'd give it one more star if they expanded the menu, providing Chaat and other snacky foods.

MEDIUM CHICKEN TIKKA PIZZA

Love this Indian pizza spot and so glad they are open again! One of my fave things is that you can do half and half pizza- highly recommend the chicken tikka and achari chicken! They load it up with toppings and the spice level is perfect. They have gotten more efficient recently with quicker turnaround time. It's a cute little take out spot. Highly recommend!

Absolutely love their pizzas. It's perfect for those looking for vegetarian options! I always get takeout and sometimes throw in the occasional garlic knots order. You can't go wrong with anything on their menu.

After trying Apna's last month, I returned to try the butter chicken pizza. I was surprisingly disappointed. It was dry and the chicken was a bit too spicy for my taste. It appeared to have a dry rub coating of spices on it and it wasn't what I was expecting. Thinking about it now, I think maybe the restaurant gave me Achari chicken instead... I thought the pizza would be a bit saucier given that butter chicken has the iconic buttery tomato curry as a crucial component of the dish. I didn't like this take on the pizza myself, but I am interested in returning. Service was okay, the person taking my order was able to answer questions I had about the menu. There is a decent amount of parking right outside the restaurant (free). Indoors, the restaurant has space for carry-out only. There were two wooden picnic type tables outside, but they were both broken. I am unsure if they belonged to Apna or to the Chinese restaurant next door.

Found this place on Ubereats and it did not disappoint! Here's what we got: Butter chicken pizza: 9/10 Chicken tikka pizza: 9/10 Paneer tikka pizza: 9.5/10 Loaded chicken tandoori fries: 8.5/10 Masala wings (fried): 9/10 Thai chili wings (fried): 9.5/10 Everything was cooked perfectly and super flavorful. We can't wait to try all of their other pizz Note: for some reason, their wings don't appear when ordering on Ubereats. But since I saw that they offer it after seeing it on their Yelp page, I called and was able to place an order (pay over the phone) and they added it to my order. So happy about it bc those wings were perfectly fried and delicious!

This a take out restaurant except for two picnic tables out front. We had two pizzas, wings, and Indian chips. Our pizzas were a large lamb kabobs and the medium spicy chicken. Both of them were thin crust and prepared well done. They were loaded with flavor and toppings! I ate my entire pizza!!!! I would happily order this again. The wings were tiny and not quite up to par with how good the pizza was. I'd would not get these again. I was also slightly disappointed that their garlic dipping sauce comes premade. They should really switch to a homemade fresh garlic sauce The pizza is soooooo good! I wish they had a location where I'm from. They also offered a Yelp check in discount. Highly recommended for the pizza!!!

(Updated rating) Ordered a medium 14" bbq chicken pizza ($18.99) and a small 12" butter chicken pizza ($15.49) for takeout. The service was good, they made sure that everything was taken care of. The boq chicken pizza was very good. The toppings came together nicely and it has definitely became a favorite item of mine from them (8.7/10). The butter chicken was decent but looked amazing with all the toppings. The butter chicken came with a spicy flavor that wasn't really for me but i can see someone that loves Indian food loving that (7/10). Overall, apna pizza was a pretty good experience and I would definitely recommend it and be back for more of that bbq chicken pizza.

The location of this pizza place actually threw me off a bit cause it's right in a neighborhood. There is not indoor seating, but the service was good. The fries were loaded, but could've used more sauce. The pizza was great! Great flavor, great presentation and a good size. I definitely want to try their other pizzas.

TANDOORI WINGS
Jordan N.

Unfortunately despite how delicious this pizza looked and smelled, we took one bite and couldn't finish. The pizza itself was so drenched with ingredients I imagine that's what contributed to the dough being raw in the middle. As soon as we picked up the first slice to try, all of the toppings slid right off and the pizza itself was pretty wet...sucks because we were so hype for butter chicken pizza. However the Tandoori wings were a great make up, well seasoned and cooked! The green sauce they came with was also delicious! Maybe we'll try it again in person, I find delivery experiences usually differ pretty vastly.

Hawaiian pizza (upper) and butter chicken pizza (lower). Both gluten free
Shivana D.

This review is only for the gluten-free crust pizza. Kudos to Apna for having a gluten-free option to begin with! I believe it's only available for the medium sized pizzas though. I got the Hawaiian pizza and the butter chicken pizza. The toppings were generous on both and I thought that the flavors were good. I think the butter chicken pizza needed some more sauce, and the crispy edges of the gluten-free crust was a bit hard to chew. But overall, it's a good spot to fulfill a pizza craving.

Medium meat lovers
Abegail A.

Although many Yelpers seemed to have enjoyed the India-style pizza offered at Apna, I surprisingly enjoyed the traditional meat lovers pizza more. Don't get me wrong, the chicken tikka pizza was good, I just though the meat lovers was better. The chicken tikka pizza came topped with a generous amount of tender chicken tikka, roasted red peppers, onions, and peppers. There was some flavor (can't quite figure out what it was) that was a little overwhelming. The meat lovers was topped with all the meats - pepperoni, sausage, beef, and bacon. So good! Enjoy the dough on both pizzas, which was crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside. Two mediums were more than enough for a family of four. Order was ready at the time specified and staff was pleasant. Parking is a little bit old and scarce.

Shai Paneer
Nameeta M.

We randomly found this pizza as we are new to the area, and we really enjoyed our food. We got the large Shai Paneer and the Chicken Tikka Masala pizzas which was more than enough for 3 of us. We didn't like the Shai Paneer as much because it felt like there was almost too much seasoning without it being flavorful if that makes sense, but we really liked the chicken tikka. The pizza itself was also really good, the crust is hand tossed and we enjoyed eating it with the garlic sauce they gave. There are western pizzas as well and several other Indian-based flavors so there's a variety to pick from. The location around the pizza place could be more well lit as it was kind of near neighborhoods/schools, and the parking lot had massive pot holes with some cars blocking certain entrances but not sure if that's the fault of the restaurant. We're looking forward to coming here again!

The place has a warm, comfortable feel--nice décor, good lighting, and enough space that it never feels cramped. I've been for both the lunch buffet and regular dinner, and the food has been consistently good. Their butter chicken is reliably creamy and well-seasoned, the garlic naan comes out soft and fresh, and the lunch buffet has a solid rotation of dishes that actually hold up under the heat lamps. Nothing is trying to reinvent the wheel, but everything tastes the way you hope it will. Service has always been friendly and attentive in my experience. They're good about checking in without hovering, and they've been helpful when I've asked questions about spice levels or recommendations. It's not the most adventurous Indian restaurant in the DMV, but for a local spot that's convenient, consistent, and doesn't disappoint, Royal Tandoor does the job well. It's the kind of place I end up recommending to friends and family when they ask for a reliable option close by.

Sometimes, there is just so much to say that one is left agog -- and so it is for me with this place! I've been several times and to say I've never been disappointed with anything here at all would be an extreme understatement. I just don't quite know how to best sum it all up, so I have hesitated and put off writing this review. It is a place I know I can go to with much anticipation and have my high expectations upheld. The name is very fitting! Some places may say they are royal, and you could be left feeling ... less than that. This is not that kind of place. You will be made to feel like royalty here! The delicious dishes and their presentation is ... just wow! Nothing here is ordinary. Everything here is spectacular! I've tried so many things, I cannot remember them all -- but I do know that I love the Dal Makhani! It's one of my all-time faves, being so rich and creamy, mmm .... The Mango Lassi comes beautifully presented and literally dripping in dark orange goodness against the lighter milky-mango look of yoghurted-up blended mango ripeness! (Don't worry, the drips are all inside the glass!) The starter crunchy rice crips are very fun and tasty, as well. It's overall just really exquisite, what can I say? Very highly recommended -- a total, all-around Yay! :-D

This is your opportunity to load up on Indian grub that tastes fantastic! And if the Buffet Bowl isn't enough for you, I recommend the Dosa, a HUGE roll of thin, lentil-based dough with a loaf of spiced potatoes inside. SpiceLife is a neat little find in Gaithersburg and one of the best Indian restaurants I've been to in a long time. I'm definitely going back to try some of the other items on the menu.

We ordered plenty of appetizers. All delicious. For apps we ordered the Salmon Tikka, and the Fish Fry. The Fish fry was my favorite. They used tilapia fish which was very well seasoned. The salmon Tikka was delicious as well as it had great flavor and cooked to perfection. For our entrees I ordered lamb curry spicy and garlic naan. I absolutely love their naan. The lamb curry was good and flavorful but was not at the level of spice that I desired unfortunately. I asked for really spicy and I received mild spice. For dessert we ordered the rice pudding, gulab jamnun, and the carrot pudding. The rice pudding was my favorite. It was very light and refreshing with just the right amount of sweetness. The carrot pudding and the gulab were good but not really my thing. The ambiance was great. Spice Life is a dine in and take out restaurant. Many people dine in during the evening hours so their weren't a lot of people during lunch time when we visited. However, it was still a good time. They had good music playing and some games playing on the tv. Of course I will visit again soon! Cheers!

My friend ordered the Paneer Lababdar, and it was easily one of the best versions I've had anywhere in this area--rich, flavorful, and perfectly balanced. I'm already planning to come back with my daughters to try their famous Family Dosa, which is so enormous that it's served across four large plates! *I've only ever gotten carry-out from here, so I cannot speak to a dine-in experience*…read more Ordering online has always been easy and the food has been ready when estimated. It's a little pricey in my book, but I suppose not overly so compared to many restaurants in the area. My go-to is the Paneer Makhani. Other favorites in the family are the Vegetable Samosa, Chicken Tikka Masala, Chicken Makhani, and Malai Kofta Curry. We also usually order some Garlic Naan as well. The only real catch in my personal experience is the parking situation. It is not located adjacent to any of the surface parking lots in Kentlands, so you will be walking a little bit from somewhere. I don't enjoy walking or driving in Kentlands because people seem to lose their minds driving in there for some reason, so you have to be on the look-out all the time. There is technically street parking right next to the restaurant, but it's hyper competitive, I wish there was a spot or two saved for curbside/pick-ups. I went to pick-up dinner a little after 7 yesterday (a Thursday night) and circled so many times, that it ended up being faster to park over by the Michaels and make the cold walk over. At one point a car was parked diagonally the wrong way in one of the spots, as in they swooped in to take it from the wrong side of the road. So you can imagine how much those spots are left purely up to chance. TLDR/ tasty food; good for carry-out if you are prepared to walk a little or can bring someone to hop out and grab the food.

The butter chicken is pretty good and so is the garlic naan, which is sized well. Service is quick…read more Prices are fair enough.

This is a downside, but they are very good one of my favorite things of them is that they have the perfect amount of spice to get me out of my comfort zone, but not be torture me.(I have an above average spice tolerance.) Cheesling wings. I normally love these things, but I normally get them in boneless. I asked for them boneless to the person taking orders. I got home and realized I hadn't gotten boneless (also bone in wings cost a dollar more. Yes, I was charged for bone-in wings. I looked at the receipt.) Cheesling fries. These were ok, but I don't think the cheese powder added much (it was very sweet. Almost gross but bearable) to them next time. I'll probably just get the regular fries. I will continue to eat from here. But I will be contacting the store tomorrow about my wings not being boneless.
