My April and crab pasta had 3 small boiled shrimp in it and the creole pasta was the same, nothing in it barely. The side salads were good, I'm a huge fan of their Ceasar dressing. We normally love this place so hopefully this is a temp situation but they are currently understaffed (8/1/25). Our food was taking ages while other tables around us who had sat down after us were eating...I asked a runner about our food, and it came out instantly. But clearly the food had been sitting and waiting a long time. My chicken Parm was not only overcooked (unrelated to sitting out), but was cold and looked dry, and the pasta was crusty. I was assured that my daughter's pasta was fresh, although that was very questionable as well. The manager offered to remake my dish, however I am certain that they just heated up the same dish , added fresh cheese, and gave it back to me - it had been cut and was exactly as overcooked. The pasta had more sauce on it than needed. The manager told us that he would comp our entire meal, but when I brought it up to the waiter, he said that they would take a percentage off. We watched as the manager bussed tables and dealt with to go food that was clearly not going smoothly. The waiter admitted they were understaffed. There was some something that looked like wet rained-on cake on the ground next to us and stuff all over the seat, as if the place had not been properly prepped and cleaned for dinner. I really enjoyed the pizza. We had a Margherita with signature sauce (instead of classic). I also split a grilled Caesar salad, which was very good. My daughter got spaghetti and meatballs. She didn't care for the meatballs, but the sauce was tasty. My youngest ordered kids chicken tenders with fries; they were what you might expect. The fries are skinny, which provides a nice texture, but they needed more salt. The restaurant inside is pretty generic. When my ex used to live in Germantown this was our go to pizza spot. We would always get the grilled Caesar salad and the ring of fire pizza. Both are absolutely delicious! I've had a lot of great pizza in my life, but the ones I've had from here rank right up there with some of the better ones. Any pizza that is made in a coal fire oven has a way better taste in my opinion. The service I've experienced here over the years has always been good. I love sitting outside in their little courtyard at night with the lights strung above you and the umbrellas up. Cool atmosphere. If you're looking for a place in the area for a good pizza and beverages this would be my recommendation. read more

Love the pizza here! I think the sauce may be a tad bit sweet? But I love it. The pizza is tasty, and they're thin so you don't leave feeling heavy afterwards. My go-tos are the 3 meat, margherita and ring of fire pizzas. Two 12" pizzas filled me and 2 others up. I think they're better when dining in than ordering carry out because it's freshly out of the oven when brought to your table. I've been here a handful of times for happy hour. Highly recommend it! 1/2 priced pizza and drinks. The bar side also seems less hectic than the dining area because there aren't loud kids yelling or obnoxious teens. I'd recommend dining in because not only is the pizza fresh, but the other foods are better prepared. I ordered calamari for pick up the other night and the texture was rubbery almost. It was a busy night when we went. I got a pepperoni Pizza and canoli and my friend ordered a pizza. Staff appeared busy and tables full. It's a live atmosphere filled with a mix of grown-ups and teens on any given night. The pizza was decent, took 20 minutes so we killed some time while we waited. I been visiting this place once in a while for gluten free pizza and couple of things on the menu but after my experience last night around 8:30pm, I will not be returning. The lack of awareness, I experienced last night was unacceptable. When I first walked in, everything seems unorganized and unprofessional. I wanted my order to go so the ambiance didn't bothered me as much. From observation, everyone on staff was there to chat, look at their phone and greet their friends not customers. I ordered fries and was given a completely burnt bucket of fries. I am not talking about couple of burnt fries in the order. The entire fries was burnt to the point that it wasn't eatable. The fact the kitchen has the audacity to package this order with no hesitation was disgusting. The bartender literally was talking in profanity the entire time I was there waiting for my order. And the hosting staff was hostile and pretty much there to have side conversations about their dating life with their co-workers. No one is attending to customers in an efficient matter. This was not the way to run a restaurant or any business of that matter. For a neighborhood restaurant, please do better and train your staff to run your business as a business, not employees hangout spot. read more

Let's split this review in two. Food and Service. Our meal was delicious. Our daughter absolute devoured her meal and for her, that's really saying something. As I'm not a big pizza fan, I was excited to see so many interesting menu options and deviations from the norm. Our server was also fantastic. Clearly busy, but took care of us, made recommendations, and was helpful without being pushy. Based on this alone, it would have been 5 stars. However, our overall dining experience was impacted by the gaggle of teenagers working the host/takeout stand. At the best of times, they were running around in a panic screaming about "Jim's" pizza. At the worst of times, they were loudly flirting, cursing, calling someone a "b**ch", and playing on their phones. I get it, it's a pizza shop and they are teenagers. No one expects them to be model citizens, but come on. Our kid doesn't need to be taught that word by the pizza teens, nor should they all be crowded around their phones at every opportunity. I generally go to the location in Ellicott City but came here today with three colleagues to celebrate two occasions. This location appears to be considerably more spacious than the other location which is nice. They also have outdoor seating which is nice. To start off we placed our drink orders. My two colleagues wanted something warm like hot tea since it was chilly today but they do not offer it here, so she was kind of disappointed. I was a bit surprised too. When I go to the E.C. location I always split a pizza with my hubby. Today I decided to go for something different. I was originally going to order the Creole pasta but when I asked the waitress sounded like it might be too spicy so I went with her recommendation and got the Garlic Shrimp pasta. My pasta also came with the choice of a House or Caesar salad. I chose the caesar. The caesar was decent. It could have used more dressing and cheese. Also I would have wanted croutons to go with it. When I took my first bite of the pasta I felt it needed something extra so I added crushed red pepper, ground black pepper, and grated parmesan cheese. That made it a bit more flavorful. More than halfway through I realized if I had mixed up my plate in the beginning that would have helped. I enjoyed my pasta but thought it was a bit greasy. I may try next time the Colby or Seafood pasta, or just stick to their specialty and get my usual pizza. Regarding service, considering that it wasn't super busy I thought our server was a bit slow coming around when we needed our check. One of the most underrated places in Montgomery county. Our waiter suggested the Creole Pasta and it was perfect. Had mine with shrimp and chicken. The Cesar salads also blew me away. I'v had a lot of Caesar salads but from the first bite, me and my gf were surprised by how good it was. Prices are also amazing. Worth every penny. Will be coming back a lot. read more

My first visit (and potentially only visit) to Coal Fire Pizza didn't start out great. Maybe I should have took that as a sign since the food would be just okay when we finally got served. Upon entering Coal Fire Pizza we were greeted and escorted to our table immediately. However, it took almost 10 minutes to be acknowledged by our server even though the table next to us got served almost immediately after sitting down. I'm assuming it would have taken even longer if we didn't ask to speak to a manager. The manager was apologetic and even brought us a complimentary order of fries out, which I wasn't expecting. Once our server (and her trainee) arrived, she was also apologetic. Decided on the sweet & spicy bbq wings, sweet & pepper calamari wings, and 16" pepperoni pizza. The wings were just okay with the sauce not evenly mixed among the wings. Some wings were spicy and some were sweet. I didn't find any wings to be both sweet & spicy. The calamari was also just okay. I like how they were lightly battered; however, I wish they weren't swimming in the sweet sauce. If you didn't eat this dish right way, your crispy calamari is now soggy. The pizza was yet again just okay. The classic sauce wasn't bad, but I thought the dough itself was too thin. I did appreciate the char on the pizza, though. Despite the slow start, our server was pretty attentive throughout the rest of our meal. With other pizza restaurants in the area, not so sure this would make it on my list of places to visit again. read more

She was one of those waitresses that knew exactly how many touches to make, didn't bother anyone, she had my drink refill set down on the table while my first drink was 1/4th full. I mean- this waitress has a bright future. Fanstastic, so good- I'd request to be sat in her section the next time I go. Food B+ Pasta Bolognese- We got a Pasta Bolognese to start out with. It was a little different than I expected. It has a sort of rosè sauce on it. I think that they took their marinara, mixed it with a little butter and cream and tossed the pasta in it. Could have used a little depth- I think it was a bit one-note. But it was generally good. Maybe.. it didn't have enough salt... could have used a little parmesan. Ricotta Infusion Pizza- This accounts for most of the grade. The 900 degree oven did good work on this pizza crust. It had a new chew with a little bit of char. Loved the ricotta, maybe wish there was a little basil on top, however the pizza itself was absolutely delicious. I wouldn't hestiate to order it again. Prosciutto Cipolla Pizza: "Our delicious Signature sauce topped with thinly sliced aged Prosciutto complimented by our oven roasted onions." This is where I think the food was a complete miss. The sauce tasted weird, like a sweet weird unbalanced sauce that was reminiscent of catalina dressing. The toppings were too heavy so the pizza was a bit soggy. The whole thing just did not work at all for me. Marinara Sauce: I got a little side of marinara sauce to see if I liked dipping the white pizza in it. It tasted REAL weird. Like... this also was a big miss for me. Salad: We did get a salad with the pasta dish and it was no frills - not really that imaginative. I know what you're saying. What does he want this salad to be a ride at Disney world?! I'm just saying, if I had a kitchen, everything that came out of it would be special. Maybe add some homemade croutons..? Or some shaved parm? Or a dried fruit... somethin!? I'm pretty sure it was iceberg lettuce, olives, tomato, and onion. If I went again I'd definitely stick with the white pizzas or the Ricotta Infusion and they make alot of their pastas in house, so I'd stick with that as well! read more

Been here couple times, since I live in the neighborhood. It's a good place for people craving pizza in the Kentlands. Upscale setting compare to the other pizza place in Kentlands, Potomac Pizza. I tried there different sauces for their pizza, and in my opinion, are just too sweet. Of all the sauces, I choose the spicy one and pick my own toppings and happy. Their chicken wings reminds me of moms wings growing up, but also wish they can offer regular buffalo wings too. For great deal, you can order their smaller size pizza at happy hour and late night happy hour at their small bar, which is hopping on weekends. On the plus side, they are the only bar in G'burg or Rockville, that make orange crushes! It's a popular drink at the beaches, Annapolis, and Arlington, I don't know why it isn't popular in MoCo. read more

This used to be our favorite pizza spot. However, the past 2 times we've ordered we have had nothing but problems. Rude employees who don't acknowledge you and orders that aren't ready for 20-25 minutes PAST the estimated order ready time. When you order curbside, you shouldn't have to go in to check on your order and you especially shouldn't have to wait 15 minutes for a server to acknowledge you, then receive your pizza to be ice cold. The first time I figured it was a bad night, the second is becoming a pattern. Next time we'll take our business elsewhere. read more

I ordered a classic with pepperoni on my first visit - take out. The crust is thin, charred as advertised and delicious. The sauce was good, not overwhelming with plenty of cheese. Pepperoni was crispy and spicey. The 12" pie was $13.20. This was a good pizza and next time I'll eat in. They have seating on one side, a bar with seating on the other and it was fairly busy at 7.30pm on a weekday evening. Nice service! read more

Definitely lives up to the name; their coal-burning fire is there for all to see, and it does render a pleasantly charred pizza. Their pizza is small and thin crust, but you do get a choice of sauce, which is nice. The spicy sauce varies enormously in heat level, while I find the other choices bland. They have excellent double-fried fries. Not a ton of other food choices, but you're here for the pizza. No particular love for special dietary concerns on their menu; you can eat vegetarian but vegan, gluten-free, or various other diets could pose a challenge. Why the three stars? One, you're not getting a lot of pizza for the money; thin crust and light sauce and cheese. Two, they've struggled to get our orders right on a more than one occasion. Never unfriendly service, but often times slow. Also, this place started out classy but has become a haven for families with little kids, and Kentlands has a lot of really spoiled bratty kids who are not pleasant to eat around.
