Minerva is a very good option for Indian cuisine in Gaithersburg, MD. The business claims to feature menu options from 6 different regions of India curated and prepared by chefs from those regions. Their diversity is evident by their restaurant menu. I appreciate the good customer service and comfortable seating here. They have standard chair and large booth seating available indoors. I like the booth seating because it accommodates large parties. There is no outdoor seating here. I'd categorize the food as authentic, however they certainly can afford to increase the spice level. They haven't completely modified their spice level and flavor to accommodate the region, but it is obvious they have considered their demographic. Overall, a very good Indian restaurant experience and I will visit again when in the area.

Minerva has the best Indian Lunch Buffet in the Rockville/Gaithersburg area. The food is always delicious and high quality and the buffet is a great way to try out a variety of items. My favorite dishes are the Channa Masala, Aloo Gobi, and Butter Chicken. Visit Minerva if you want a high quality Indian meal.

Chicken Tikka Masala & Garlic Naan

I ordered the veg spring roll, chicken tikka masala and garlic naan. The spring rolls had really good flavor but were very crispy (not a bad thing just a note). The chicken was SUPER tender and the flavor of the curry was amazing. The garlic naan was very yummy as well! The staff was very friendly as well when i went to pick up my order.

This place here is a Diamond in the rough!!! At first the service was a little slow and lacking but it could of been the language barrier. Once I got settled in everything was cool. There is a lot of seating, 2 TV's and a buffet bar. The buffet looked good but I ordered the Lamb Vindaloo extra spicy and it was flavorful. I'd do it again!

Plain Dosa

I ought 2 orders of plain Dosa and 1 order of shrimp biryani. The dosa was cold and the curry comes with dosa taste is really bad and smells also terrible in said curry vegetables also cold. " The manager said " kitchen will serve it heated by microwave. I have been to this restaurant many times this is the first time I've experienced this type of food. The quality of the food was very dissatisfying.

I have to say this is one of my favorite Indian restaurants. The manager is very sweet as I ordered a Groupon and did not realize you could not use it for the Buffet and it was a one time use only . they help make it right so I could use it for the non buffet food. my fiancé does not like spicy foods, so he ordered his lunch from the menu. It was tandoori chicken kababs. Great presentation as they came out sizzling and look beautifully prepared. They were a little spicy . The manager told us to just tell them next time to ask for not spicy so now we know. There's so much to select from on the Buffet; the warm carrots for dessert are my favorite . The butter chicken is amazing, the fish masala and more were wonderful. it's a taste bud experience and explosion . Finally the naan-bread is made hot. So good. The restaurant was quiet as we arrive late in the lunch time . I would recommend this place for eat in or to go. I've been coming here for almost 30 years and will continue to patronize.

Back: palak Chana saag Masala. Front: vegetable Hakka noodles

A comprehensive menu with traditional North Indian favorites as well as South Indian style items (dosas, uttapam, vadu) and Indo-Chinese offerings. We used to go to the lunch buffet pre-pandemic and were always pleased with the variety of choices offered. This time just dined in for dinner and ordered their vegetable Hakka noodles and palak chana masala. The former was similar to Chinese style lo mein, but much spicier. The palak (spinach) dish was a rich and well-seasoned curry. The chickpeas gave it an extra texture. Loved both dishes and would like to try other options not commonly seen in other Indian restaurants.

My spread - palak paneer, paneer dish, samosa, rava masala dosa, malai kofta

Delicious dosas and spicy curry dishes! My friends and I ordered a delightful feast! The food was fresh and not oily. Rava Onion Masala Dosa (5/5) - Hands-down the highlight of the night! It was spongy with a crispy porous texture - perfect. The Masala definitely had a spicy kick! The dosa surprisingly kept well for 30 min+. Typically, dosa is best eaten right away and doesn't kept well for than a few min and starts to get really soggy. The dosa was well-made and tasted like it was just off the griddle! Idly (2/5) - Dense and didn't have the pillowy texture that I was hoping for. 3 idly come in an order. When we reheated the idly, they were rock solid. The sambar was very spicy. Skip it and save some room for the dosa! Samosa (5/5) - Medium, crispy shell with spicy potato and pea filling. Exactly what you expect a samosa to be. The sweet brown and tangy green chutneys were great for dipping. Palak Paneer and creamy Malai Kofta (4/5) - Flavorful, but super spicy. While the creamy Malai Kofta gravy was tasty, the kofta croquettes didn't taste that fresh. Our request for Mild was ignored. We received a bucket-loads of rice which helped to dilute the spiciness. A garlic naan was missing from our order and would have been perfect for mopping up all the curry! Fun to try and would definitely come back for the Rava Onion Masala Dosa! Definitely request MILD.

To hard to cut with garden shears.

Sometimes, there is just so much to say that one is left agog -- and so it is for me with this place! I've been several times and to say I've never been disappointed with anything here at all would be an extreme understatement. I just don't quite know how to best sum it all up, so I have hesitated and put off writing this review. It is a place I know I can go to with much anticipation and have my high expectations upheld. The name is very fitting! Some places may say they are royal, and you could be left feeling ... less than that. This is not that kind of place. You will be made to feel like royalty here! The delicious dishes and their presentation is ... just wow! Nothing here is ordinary. Everything here is spectacular! I've tried so many things, I cannot remember them all -- but I do know that I love the Dal Makhani! It's one of my all-time faves, being so rich and creamy, mmm .... The Mango Lassi comes beautifully presented and literally dripping in dark orange goodness against the lighter milky-mango look of yoghurted-up blended mango ripeness! (Don't worry, the drips are all inside the glass!) The starter crunchy rice crips are very fun and tasty, as well. It's overall just really exquisite, what can I say? Very highly recommended -- a total, all-around Yay! :-D

The ambiance is wonderful, and the staff were incredibly friendly, welcoming, and attentive throughout our meal. The food was outstanding, with a menu that offers plenty of variety, including several dishes I haven't encountered at other Indian restaurants. The mango lassi was easily the best I've ever had. The Kothu Parotta was another standout and absolutely worth ordering. It's always exciting to find a restaurant that goes beyond the standard menu offerings, and this place definitely delivers. Overall, a fantastic dining experience with excellent food, great service, and a warm atmosphere. I'll definitely be back to try more of the menu.

We got the vegetarian thali, the idli vada, and the lunch special Madras 65 chicken biryani. I really enjoyed the thali. I wish I knew what each of the different dishes were, but it was a great combination of different vegetables, spices, and flavors. I loved that it came with bread (which was AMAZING! Was it roti? I don't know!) and dessert. The idli and vada were both great and the sambar and chutneys were a wonderful accompaniment. I particularly liked the sambar - it was great with the idli. The biryani was great too, but way too hot for me. My friend liked it though. The chicken was juicy and tasty and the rice was deeply flavorful.

The restaurant has nice decor and a promising selection of menu items, but the execution of the traditional dishes fell short of my expectations. The Highlights: Timmur Chicken Wings: Absolutely amazing. The flavor profile was excellent and easily the best part of the meal. The Disappointments: Thukpa: I have very fond memories of this dish, but this version was highly disappointing. They altered standard ingredients and added fish oil, which is definitely not characteristic of traditional Nepali Thukpa. Momo: While the dumplings themselves were okay, they were let down by the sauce. What makes a Nepali momo superior is the specific, vibrant momo sauce (achar), but the sauce served here looked and tasted like a generic, store-bought version. Overall Verdict:While the menu features an appealing variety, the execution misses the mark on authentic Nepali cuisine. It has great potential, but they need to stick to their authentic basics.
