Garlic Naan

I used to pass by this restaurant many times whenever I would come to Rockville; so while we had family visiting in town, we decided to check it out. I would say that the real stars of our visit would be the non-veg dishes ie the Chicken Nilgiri and Rockfish. The Gol Gappe (Pani Puri) was pretty good too. We have mixed feelings about the Papri Chaat which we felt was missing that extra tang that came from the spices and parts of it were a little soggy due to the amount of yogurt. Some members of my family are vegetarian, so we opted to get the Paneer. Unfortunately, we did not enjoy it very much. The gravy was certainly more tomatoey and sweet. We were pleased with the service. The staff was polite and welcoming. The ambience made you feel like you were at home with its bright colors, assortment of Indian decorations and the vast collection of spices along the kitchen walls. I can tell this establishment has been around for many years as many locals continue to order from it. I would like to give it another try if we decide to come again.

The chicken tikka makhani, saag paneer and chicken biryani are amazing!! I cannot wait to come back to try more dishes. The food came out quickly and the service was attentive.

The food was great! And the service was excellent! Will definitely be going back. Especially for their samosas!

Samosas with Chutneys that were served on the side, but I put the chutneys on this place. These were delicious.

The food was delicious, the timing of the food was good. The service was awesome. I wish the portions were bigger enough to take home, but this is Rockville and inflation going on. The vibes were well, mediocre. I just used to ordering biryani and getting like a box full. Maybe it's just depends on the location. Maybe I will try carry out once and check out the portions then. The Chicken Biryani. The portion for a Biryani is usually bigger. Those crunchy onions were a hit or miss. Raisins and nuts were unnecessary. Chicken, I prefer authentic and bone-in. Very small portion with small chicken pieces. The flavor was delicious so I commend them for that. I would've preffered the Indian salad.

This place is definitely in person, but due to the pandemic, my roommate isn't comfortable eating out just yet. They have labels for allergies (my roommate eats only gluten-free dishes), but a lot of their labels were missing from the UberEats menu. After verifying with the restaurant, we ordered 3 dishes to split. Really 2/3 were okay. The saag paneer was bland and lacked the cheese, and I wouldn't get it again. I've had flavorful saag paneer at other places and was disappointed. The chicken tikka makhani was similar to tikka masala and was pretty good. The fish curry was descent as well. Overall, I think this place is better in person. It was kind of mediocre this time.

Amazing food + amazing service ! Chicken / Lamb Biriyani was so flavorful along with the Chicken Tikka Makhani.

The chicken was juicy and delicious in the velvety smooth creamy curry. I also loved the zesty salad and the luxuriously creamy and flavorful daal. My husband had the Yellow Crab Curry ($22.99). It contained a very generous portion of lumped crab and the curry was smooth and creamy as well. The curry came with rice and we had the option of ordering additional naan, if needed. The restaurant was very quiet for lunch and service was very attentive by the waiter and the Maître d' The restaurant itself is beautiful and has a nice amount of seating, especially for large events. The waiter advised me the restaurant served about 300 people for their Mother's Day brunch! I thought that was amazing. I also thought I couldn't imagine how difficult it would have been to go to the bathroom during such an event. The women's room had two stalls (and the accessible stall had a diaper changing table), but only one sink! Luckily that was not a concern during our lunch visit. Heads up, the wait staff will ask if you'd like a paper bag to carry out any leftovers, and they are $0.10/bag due to the bag tax.

For entrees one got the chicken vindaloo. He loves heat, but this dish overwhelmed him. Along with his sputtering, his checks had a nice rosy red glow. Our crab curry was a nice change. I don't see crab on alot of Indian restaurant menus. It was blue crab, albeit from Louisiana. Tasted fine though. Our other dishes were butter chicken, and chicken tikka marsala. Both were fine, but most Indian restaurants have that down. We got good service, enjoyed the ambience, and recommend you give it a try.

First time dining in and had a great experience! We usually order to go (malai kofta, palak paneer,…read moredal makhani, and ofc their samosas!!), but noticed the menu was different for dine in and wanted to try it. The food was incredible- homey, well spiced, and perfectly fried. They do such a great job at balancing flavors and making fried food crispy and not greasy. The owner/worker was so kind to us as always! Here's what we got: 1) Chole bhature- incredible chickpeas and crispy fluffy bhature. This was def the best thing we got! 2) Samosa chaat- you can't come here without getting their samosas. They are the best, large and well seasoned. This came with the chole (my fave!)and was very filling 3) Vada pav- super tasty fried potato ball with green chutney in a bun 4) Gobi paratha- finely minced and delicate cauliflower in a paratha! It was so impressive how much cauliflower was in here without the paratha ripping. 5) Masala chai- made fresh to order! He told us how other places pre make chai and fridge it, but he makes it fresh to order. It was so good and not as spiced as you would think. Loved the warmth and delicate flavor Come with the expectation to wait a little more than a usual restaurant, but it will be worth it because everything tastes homemade and masterful. Don't be intimidated! They have an English menu and the owner understands English pretty well. Def check it out and show them some love with dine in or takeout! This type of authentic hole in the wall is hard to find and very treasured by the community- in the hour we dined in, we saw almost 10 different parties calling in catering orders, dining in, or picking up takeout orders. You can tell how respected and well loved this place is; it's a gem of MoCo for sure!

The décor is beautiful, lots of gold accents and very clean. I honestly didn't expect the inside to be so elegant. Even the silverware is gold, and the plates have gold trim. It feels upscale but still warm and welcoming. We tried the lunch buffet and it was absolutely delicious. The food wasn't overly spiced, salty, or sweet, everything tasted balanced and made with care, like something your grandma would cook. I went around 1:45 PM expecting the buffet to look picked over or dry (like many places that late in service), but everything was fresh and fully stocked. Great variety, very flavorful, and the meats were well marinated. The staff was friendly and attentive, my water glass was never empty. Lunch buffet is $24.99 per person and absolutely worth it. They close at 2:30 PM and reopen for dinner at 4:30 PM. There's ample free parking and even a party room for larger gatherings. So happy to have found this place. I'll definitely be back!
