This place is amazing. Their food is delicious and their service is excellent. My family and I love this gem. We came across this place originally for breakfast. Tonight we tried their dinner menu and we had 4 different sandwiches. We had the meatball sub, chicken parmesan, caparese and the southern chicken sandwich. All of it was delicious. We also took home a chocolate and strawberry milkshake which was to die for. When we are here we are always well taken care of. This place is truly special and amazing. Their seating is comfortable and welcoming too. read more

My husband and I went to this breakfast spot today while we're in town for a soccer tournament. I ordered a bacon, egg (fried hard), and cheese sandwich on a brioche bun. Unfortunately, when I received my food and took a bite, a hot, completely runny egg came oozing out of the sandwich and all over me, completely ruining my shirt and pants. I was understandably upset. What made the situation even worse was that multiple waitresses watched it happen and continued working without offering me a napkin, towel, or anything to help clean myself up. I was literally standing there with egg yolk running down my shirt and pants because my order was prepared incorrectly. Eventually, my husband and I had to flag someone down--we weren't even sure if he was a server or the manager. He came over and said he would comp the meal. I explained that we were there for a soccer tournament and that I would now have to go out and purchase an entirely new outfit for the rest of the day because of their mistake. We then sat there for 20 minutes, watching employees walk past us repeatedly without checking on us. I finally went to the register and expressed how upset I was. The gentleman there said he would charge us for my husband's and son's meals and comp mine. Of course, my meal was being comped--it was sent back because it was prepared incorrectly in the first place. We then waited another 20 minutes without a bill. Again, employees continued walking past us and completely ignored us. This restaurant is tiny--practically the size of a closet--so I honestly don't understand how we could be overlooked for that long. At that point, I told my husband, "Let's just get up and leave. I guarantee THAT will get someone's attention." Sure enough, the second we walked out the door, the big guy came running after us, yelling at my husband and me. I explained how long we had been sitting there, how rude and dismissive the service was, and how much of our time had been wasted. Apparently, walking out the door was the only way to finally get someone's attention. Mistakes happen. Eggs can be cooked incorrectly. What matters is how you treat your customers when something goes wrong. In this case, the customer service was absolutely unacceptable from start to finish. We are in town for a soccer tournament and had better things to do than spend nearly an hour sitting around being ignored after having our clothing ruined by an improperly prepared meal. Spare yourself the trip. The customer service here was HORRIBLE. BTW my outfit cost more than a comped meal!!!! And a hour of wasted time waiting for our bill!!! THIS PLACE IS HORRIBLE ZERO STARS if that were an option. read more

This local bistro has the best food in town! It's quick, easy and a very extensive menu! As a vegetarian, it's always nice to have options - their eggplant parm and caprese subs are filling and delish! Owners are great, wish there was more parking but truly a gem! The interior decor is super cute and always clean! Great place for a quick bite or sit down if you want! read more

The staff were very welcoming and friendly from the time I entered until I left. You could easily tell the regulars, the gentleman greeted them by name and even talked about other family members that came in for a meal. The food was delicious!! Once seated, you're offered a hot beverage, water, and a muffin to nibble on while you peruse the menu, the muffin for the day was pumpkin cheesecake and it was quite tasty I ordered the vanilla French toast with scrambled eggs and breakfast, paired with some cranberry juice. I can't wait to go back to try some of the Latin cuisine! They're open daily 7-3, serving breakfast from open to close along with other menu items. read more

Tried this place for the first time today when I was up in the Olney area. Not the biggest menu, but all the standard breakfast staples. I got the big scratch breakfast, which included three eggs, meat, home fries, and a pancake. It was just the right amount of food, and everything was cooked perfectly. Very friendly staff, warm and inviting to everyone that came to the door. Will definitely go back next time. I'm up in the area. read more

My husband and I had a lovely breakfast at Scratch Kitchen. The warm and inviting environment made for a very comfortable start to our dining experience. It was nice to hear a bit of Frank Sinatra's "Fly Me To The Moon" and "La Llorona" playing in the background, blending two cultures in one place. The service was great. The staff treated each guest with kindness, respect, and professionalism. The food was worth the trip. I ordered the Big Scratch Platter with Turkey Bacon and a Blueberry Lemon Ricotta Pancake. My husband chose the Chicken Fajita Omelet. Everything was flavorful and well-cooked. I'm so glad we stopped by during our trip. We'll definitely remember this place to visit again on our next trip to Maryland. read more

Breakfast at the scratch, kitchen is truly a wonderful experience. The pancakes are fluffy. The waffles are delightful and everything that goes along with it is beautifully prepared and very fresh as the name implies it is made from scratch. The restaurant itself is sat in a non-descriptive industrial area in Olney and a little bit difficult to find. But once inside you're treated with fresh ingredients, light and fluffy pancakes and waffles and the fresh stuff ingredients. The staff goes out of their way to make sure all your needs are met. read more

Chill and Relax restaurant for Breakfast, Lunch and Brunch in Olney, MD. Their dining room is not huge but is enough space for chit-chat of 2-4 groups of people. Cute and lovely decoration. Menu has variety selection, but too bad that they don't serve handcraft coffee. The food was nice as the standard, but for me a cozy vibe is make it different. Also the staffs are friendly and helpful. Anyway, the restaurant location seem a little confused, hidden inside narrow corner, free parking spaces are available in front of the restaurant but quite limit. read more

If I could give this one star I would. I don't know how this place has lasted as long as it has. The place is small. Service, if we can call it that was abysmal and the food we all went out to enjoy was subpar. Their's a negative attitude that permeates the space. No staff seem happy and that they are put out to help you or to satisfy you. Save yourself time, money and aggravation and go somewhere, anywhere else! read more

I had been so excited to get the chance to finally try this place. It's a quaint cafe so I suggest making a reservation if you decide to check them out. I loved the flavor of the mango iced tea. My potatoes were perfectly crispy. When it comes to the breakfast sandwich it was quite bland and dry, I wish there had been some type of aioli or sauce on it. It came out with a side of ketchup, so I had asked if I could swap it out for barbecue sauce since I don't like ketchup and our server Liz just said "we don't have it". The host/owner was very polite and personable, I feel we would've had a better experience if he was the only staff member who served us. My friend had a crab cake sandwich and she said it was dry. When it was time to pay I had asked Liz if we could do an even split and she says "no, I already printed the separate checks", I understand that it may have been an inconvenience to her, but I just wish she said it in a more polite manner. Overall, it was a very mediocre experience, I don't think I'll be back anytime soon. read more

Very cozy, well decorated, quaint little spot. Appears to be family owned/operated and the staff were very friendly and attentive. The atmosphere was very welcoming. We sat down and were served complimentary pumpkin cream cheese muffins (very decadent and delicious). The turkey club was massive and served with perfectly seasoned French fries. Greek spinach omelette was just ok but served with home fries that were a hit with the whole table. Overall would dine again for the friendly staff and cozy atmosphere, but would try another dish other than the Greek omelette. Would love to try their sweet selections or breakfast sandwiches on the next trip. read more

I've been to Scratch a few times now and it's a nice little spot to stop in for a coffee/tea or a bite. The space is tiny so it's not good for larger parties and probably not for energetic little kids. Parking is tight. I like that this is a woman-owned restaurant and that they give back so much to the community. read more

This is such a cute place! I went fairly early in the AM so I went straight to the counter to check in. The decor was very cozy and rustic. The owner was friendly and we chatted a bit while I waited for my order. I got the 2 pupusas and they were delicious, especially with the sauce. I also got a breakfast sandwich which was very reasonably priced. It was also tasty, even a couple hours later. I'll be back soon! read more

Great customer service. Friendly staff. Bright and airy environmenWould love to see the extended menu.

Sandwich was decent but it could have been better. The price feels right at $7 but there could have been 3 eggs instead of 2? Or maybe an extra sausage for .50 more? Or maybe getting on a croissant instead of brioche will be what it needed? Willing to give it another shot and hope for the best. Service was alright but abrupt as I was placing a Togo order, seemed as though he was in a rush. Place was busy and not a single open table so business is good. I can see why scratch kitchen is popular and I'm going try it out some more. read more

This was our first visit to scratch kitchen. The staff were extremely friendly and welcomed us warmly. We were given complimentary fresh muffins before we ordered. My eggs, home fries and bacon were perfect. The food came out hot and fresh. My husband ordered the maple bacon pancakes and while they smelled great and had a nice flavor, they were very dry. My breakfast came with a buttermilk pancake that was also flavorful but dry. Other than that, it's a lovely place and we plan on returning there. The couple next to us had the crabcake sandwich and an omelette and they said they were both great. Just don't think we'll order pancakes next time. Everything else was just great! Came here on a weekday after an exhausting time in the hospital nearby. I was looking forward to some comforting, delicious food and was not disappointed! The food was amazing both in portion and taste. The vibe was very chill playing Motown and classic hits from the 60/70s but not to loud. You could hold a nice conversation and still hear the music and enjoy the fresh flavors. We ordered 1- Nutella French toast and added bananas; very delicious and decadent. 2- The Mainer lobster & eggs had generous amount of lobster both in and on it. 3- Nova lox & 2 eggs (scrambled). Everything is made fresh and delicious; the portions are generous but not overwhelming. The service is friendly and the servers speak both Spanish and English fluently-- they're very welcoming to all who come through. This place is very tech friendly with the Clover/ tap pay- credit/ debit option. The spot is very small with 8 tables inside and 5-6 tables outside and a small counter facing the window. read more

This place is so cute, original, and down-home, I'm sad to write a less-than-stellar review. I ordered the veggie breakfast burrito with cheddar, but, to my horror, it came to the table ribboned with what tasted like American cheese. Yuck! It really needed some protein, like beans, and the salsa should have been better than just generic stuff you get from the supermarket. My compatriot ordered the Nutella French toast and described the berries as tasting like "food," as if they'd been in an open container in the fridge next to something savory. If you're going to call your restaurant "Scratch," it has to be better than something you would get at Denny's, especially for those prices. Despite the friendly greetings and overall neighborhood vibe of the place, I'm not likely to return. read more

I discovered this little cafe when searching for a breakfast place. It's a small cafe tucked into a tiny shopping center in Olney, off of Georgia Avenue. I was delighted to find fabulous food, friendly service and a lovely ambiance. I got the French toast and bacon with coffee and a Diet Coke. The French Toast (notice it's all in capitals now) was deelish and exactly what I was craving and hoping for - slightly crispy on the edges and custardy on the inside. I got a whopping 4 slices! It was topped off with fruit - strawberries and blueberries. Apparently it comes dusted with confectioners sugar but I opted out of that. Truly it was fabulous! My added side dish of bacon was very crisp and I received four slices of that too. The coffee was excellent also. It's a small cafe and has a cosy and warm ambiance. I would recommend this place for lunch or breakfast. read more
