Once seated, you're offered a hot beverage, water, and a muffin to nibble on while you peruse the menu, the muffin for the day was pumpkin cheesecake and it was quite tasty I ordered the vanilla French toast with scrambled eggs and breakfast, paired with some cranberry juice. This was our first visit to scratch kitchen. The staff were extremely friendly and welcomed us warmly. We were given complimentary fresh muffins before we ordered. My eggs, home fries and bacon were perfect. The food came out hot and fresh. My husband ordered the maple bacon pancakes and while they smelled great and had a nice flavor, they were very dry. My breakfast came with a buttermilk pancake that was also flavorful but dry. Other than that, it's a lovely place and we plan on returning there. The couple next to us had the crabcake sandwich and an omelette and they said they were both great. Just don't think we'll order pancakes next time. Everything else was just great! It was nice to hear a bit of Frank Sinatra's "Fly Me To The Moon" and "La Llorona" playing in the background, blending two cultures in one place. The service was great. I discovered this little cafe when searching for a breakfast place. It's a small cafe tucked into a tiny shopping center in Olney, off of Georgia Avenue. I was delighted to find fabulous food, friendly service and a lovely ambiance. I got the French toast and bacon with coffee and a Diet Coke. The French Toast (notice it's all in capitals now) was deelish and exactly what I was craving and hoping for - slightly crispy on the edges and custardy on the inside. I got a whopping 4 slices! It was topped off with fruit - strawberries and blueberries. Apparently it comes dusted with confectioners sugar but I opted out of that. Truly it was fabulous! My added side dish of bacon was very crisp and I received four slices of that too. The coffee was excellent also. It's a small cafe and has a cosy and warm ambiance. Five out of five. When I called and told them three of us were coming they indeed reserved our table for three and it was ready when we arrived, which I really appreciated. Quality of food and service was superb. It's a cute mom and pop shop, clean inside, very nice homey ambiance. The pancakes generally were so fluffy, though I wish they would have added more berry sauce on the lemon & ricotta stacks. Home fries were delicious! Steak was flavorful. Stopped by early in A Sunday on the way back from BWI airport. Place is tucked in corner of small shopping center. Small and welcoming inside and were acknowledged immediately. Farm to table breakfast. Wife had a bacon and egg on brioche that looked delicious and I ordered the eggs and steak tips. This cute little hole in the wall breakfast place is tucked away in olney. My boyfriend and i went to the farmers market on a Sunday and came across this place. The service was great; it seems like it's family owned. The food came out quickly and fresh. Also if you like freshly pressed Oj that offer that which is a nice touch. It is a little crammed inside so if you want to sit inside get there early. They also offer outside seating as well. Actually a 2.5 star review rounded up. So the prior reviews made this place look outstanding so I suffered the wrath of a child and switched our destination from CFA to here. We ordered the Whotella, brunch burger, crab cake and children's wrap. Every dish felt oddly not configured from scratch. The brunch burger may not have been a from scratch patty with a quickly thrown together salad and a lot of onion on top. The Whotella changed animals and became a mouse, which then had to be explained. The kids wrap was big enough for an adult. The crab cake was seared and close to completely singed to a 1/8 inch size with no flavor but salt emanating. The bacon was perfect and although I couldn't tell if they were hand cut or frozen, the hash was also crispy and yummy. The serving staff was amazing and the place feels like a cute beach town restaurant , but I don't think in good conscience I'd recommend it. I may try it again. read more
