What do you do on a cool rainy Sunday morning? You go for brunch at First Watch and boy, was it crowded. We were actually celebrating a friend's birthday. Once we were seated, our waiter was excellent. He had a great personality and was very accommodating. The restaurant has both high top tables, booths, and tables for four. I really like how they advertise their seasonal specials on the chalkboard on the wall. We both got the strawberry Tres leches French toast. The French toast was good and all of the seasonal fruit was delicious. I will definitely come back. Just remember to get on their waitlist, before you come. read more

Visited this location for Sunday Brunch and was surprised at the short wait time to be seated, seeing as how it was a Sunday morning!! The hostess was very inviting and welcoming, she did an amazing job with being aware of the seating and which tables were checking out. It was well managed and organized, quite impressive honestly! Once we were seated, our server offered us drinks and took our order. Again, didn't take too long to get our orders in nor receive our drinks and food. The food portions were very nice and worth the price!! I ordered the seasonal pumpkin pancakes and my Aunt ordered the lemon ricotta pancakes. These pancakes literally could feed a family! They were humongous!! And quite flavorful, I might add. The lemon curd was perfectly balanced and could be offered as a dessert on its own! The pumpkin pancake was nice and fluffy, could've used a little more pumpkin flavor but the color was great. The eggs were seasoned perfectly, nice and fluffy, and the chicken maple sausage was quite tasty. The purple haze is my forever favorite drink, the butterfly pea flower tea and a hint of lavender are such a delight for the tastebuds! We also had the pumpkin donuts to go. Again, the pumpkin flavor was a little faint but the crème anglaise dipping sauce made up for that!! We enjoyed our meals, there was plenty leftover to take home and share read more

We were in the area running errands and hunger started calling. There was no debate, we were coming here and it was very well worth it. It's pretty cozy in there, has indoor and outdoor seating. They don't take reservations so it's important to get on the waitlist. We were right on time bc by the time we walked out, the wait was an hour if not more. We both had the morning meditation. It was very refreshing, I love a ginger turmeric blend. Then we snagged items off the summer special menu. The chipotle steak and queso hash, banana brittle French toast, and million $ bacon. Absolutely loved the flavor combination in the French toast--the almond butter crème anglaise and caramelized bananas were the perfect bite of sweet topped with sea salt. I was greedy and added pieces of bacon to each bite. The hash was very good too! The queso was a little more runny than I would've liked but the flavor was there and it was delicious every dip. The service provided was solid, even with a busy packed house. We would definitely return! read more

First Watch was a brief walk from the hotel at which I was staying for several days. I came here for breakfast the first morning of my stay, and I enjoyed it so much I never felt the need to go anywhere else for breakfast. Between their regular menu and their seasonal specials menu, there was enough variety that I could have something different every morning, with choices ranging from traditional to very interesting. We never had a bad meal there. Service was a bit inconsistent from time to time. At least once, our meals took longer than expected to arrive, and I believe the restaurant was not adequately staffed for a busier than expected morning. The most "interesting" inconsistency was with hot tea, which we ordered every morning. Some servers brought us a plate with a large selection of teas, some servers asked us our preference and brought us just those. One server actually poured the hot water for us (which I was advised is actually a no-no when it comes to serving tea). None of these inconsistencies bothered me too much. I kept comparing (on Yelp, of course) other breakfast options, but for me, nothing else came close being as good by convenience, quality, or price. read more

I just wrote a review on spilled iced coffee, and when I think of infamous spilled drink, I think of the downtown Rockville First Watch. I visited this location 3 times, 2 while I lived in Wheaton and one not long after moving away from Montgomery County. Feb. 2019 I used my birthday deal, pretty uneventful good food. Oct. 2020 there was another deal, again uneventful. My 3rd visit was the noteworthy one in March 2021. I recruited a friend to help use my birthday deal expiring fairly soon (as it's a BOGO deal), who lives in Montgomery County and doesn't like driving far. So, I schlepped from my home in western Anne Arundel County over to Rockville as God forbid he would schlep to Watch First in Laurel in PG County (my closest location), Columbia, or anywhere close to me. Food was good per normal. Server was nice and efficient. However, as a polite word in baseball, she made an error. She spilled the cranberry juice all over my friend. I was spared from her error sitting on the opposite side of the booth. At first, she said we can take the cranberry juice off the bill. We said that was weak. Manager came over and was nice saying how about we comp this meal for you. We said that's a lot better. However, I added that my birthday deal will be useless. The manager said he would just take off my meal too, and I could use the birthday deal again. I don't think I ended up using the birthday deal ultimately that year as it was close to expiration. Overall, while the cranberry juice was spilled was not good, the manager was nice & handled this well. First Watch Rockville is overall positive in my experience. read more

Recently tried first watch for the first time and have been back at least 4 times since then. I love to try items from their seasonal menu and have also enjoyed the classics as well I always get a fresh juice with my meal and have never left unsatisfied. My favorites so far are the waffle and the biscuits with turkey sausage gravy. It is a popular location so you may have to wait a while to be seated. We came in a Sunday afternoon and waited 45 minutes for a table. Luckily there are a lot of other establishments in the area to check out while you wait. Come hungry, but come prepared to not be seated immediately if stopping by on a weekend read more

Had a delicious breakfast at our local first watch restaurant. Service was quick and efficient and the portions were plentiful. The ambiance is a bit neighborhood restaurant and a bit diner style. We ordered the market hash (added turkey sausage) and the seasonal bacon, egg and cheese sandwich to share. Both dishes had sizeable portions and we walked out in a food coma. I liked the hash but it was a lot of potatoes and I might be inclined to try to make it a scramble (no potatoes) next time. The sandwich was tasty as well - with a lot of bacon and cheese! We will definitely be back! read more

Made another visit the other day on the weekend. On the weekend, I recommend you go on their website or app and put yourself on the waitlist. We've used it a few times and seems to make the process smoother than showing up and putting your name on a list. This way, you can put yourself on the list as you are driving or walking over. The food this visit was good - the place is consistent. For upcoming fall, my partner got the pumpkin pancake with eggs and chicken sausage. Everything was delicious. I got a special - Honey Chipotle Chicken Hash, which was chipotle glazed chicken, bacon, red bell peppers, onions, Cheddar and Monterey Jack in a potato hash, topped with two eggs any style, Cotija cheese, pickled red onions, avocado, lime crema and scallions. Delish. read more

Small outdoor space but it's a great option if you want to be outside. We opted for indoor which was comfortable. Table of 3 and we were ready for a brunch type meal. Our server was friendly and greeted us before taking our orders. My teen was unsure if the wholewheat pancakes would be nice and they were delicious. I had a traditional breakfast and my husband enjoyed the avo toast. The portions were big and hit the spot. The grapefruit juice was also yum. Payment can be made via your phone or at the front desk before you leave. I liked it! And will be back. read more

Slow on a weekday morning i think they were a little surprised I wasn't a Doordash driver. Service was great and it was a little cold inside it was warmer than outside. I got coffee and a really great potato bowl with bacon and eggs. honestly y'all it's First Watch it's pretty much the same everywhere. I wanted a diner, but this is what was nearby. Ive never been to this location before but I've been to First Watch several times in their Virginia location so I was expecting good time when I stopped by for a brunch with a friend. Her meal (avocado toast) was fine, the tres leche French toast didn't taste like tres leche but that was fine. What wasn't okay was my salad that came with my smoked salmon frittata. About a quarter of the salad had gone bad and soggy and was basically gross. When I first got the dish it looked fine (first pic) and then I started eating it and tasted off. This shouldn't have been served. The food overall is okay; but I'll stick their other locations. No issue with the service, our waiter was super nice and attentive. read more

Went for brunch today and enjoyed the picked 2 option. The menu is a decent size with standard American breakfast/lunch options. I chose their chopped avocado salad (10/10) and some type of turkey bacon sandwich on sour dough (7/10). Service is quick and really good. The waitress I had was very nice. It was pretty slow since I went around 2 pm on a weekday but aesthetics were farm to table/causal. read more

Waiters were attentive, the bacon was not crispy enough and was mostly fat- that's my only critique. I basically ended up with like 4 edible SLIVERS of bacon, everything else was undercooked fat. Very disappointing. People who ordered other dishes in my party were very pleased, but I was super upset with the bacon. It was unedible honestly. read more

The service was amazing. We got our food out quickly.. well seasoned enjoyed it. My only complaint is some of the potatoes felt a bit hard like they weren't fully cooked apart from that. It was beyond excellent.. It is definitely a extremely busy place so expect a wait . Nothing huge of a wait though which is a good thing.. It can get a bit loud as it's a very busy place. read more

The floors were so greasy and filthy that it was like walking on ice. I was not wearing non-slip restaurant shoes, but if you walk on a floor that is cleaned occasionally with soap it does not matter. There were gooey bits of old food that stuck to my shoe. They took us to a booth in the corner where an ancient brown wad of paper napkins was propping up the table, and there was more debris on the floor. You could feel the difference in traction from the front where the cleaning was slightly more thorough. There was also water on the floors and no wet floor signs. The booth was sticky and I was so disgusted that I left. The server and host were very friendly but the cleaning here is some of the worst I've ever seen. I had to be extremely careful walking in and out just to avoid slipping. I was wearing brand new running shoes. read more

On par with many other First Watch locations. The restaurant is a bit smaller so they do get busy but they have a large window which ope s up to the street which helps open up the space and also have some outdoor seating. The food was all amazing, I got the bacon omelet and it was cooked perfectly, not too greasy either. Our food came out pretty quick but they did forget to put our order for the million dollar bacon in so that didn't come out until we were almost done eating unfortunately. read more

Great spot! My husband and I had an errand to run in Rockville and found this place on Yelp. Wish we had a spot like this where we lived. They have a community table where anyone can sit as long as seats are available so we sat immediately. Our server quickly stopped by and took our drink order (they give you your own personal pot of coffee!). They have regular and a seasonal menu - so many options. We ordered the biscuits and gravy and their special honey bacon Brussels hash which were both great. We got a good amount but not overly so - left feeling full but not grossly so. We were in and out in 30-35 mins - nice ! The restaurant is situated on a quiet street away with other spots. read more

Excellent Rockville Brunch or Breakfast Spot!' For a while now, friends have raved about the good food at First Watch. I've been meaning to give them a try for myself, so one fateful weekend day we went to give them a shot. In my opinion, some breakfast spots in Rockville have down hill. It was definitely time to try somewhere new. Parking was a breeze, there was off the street parking in a garage. So this adventure started off great. We arrived at the restaurant and even though it was busy, we were seated immediately and given menus. The server brought us cold water and took our drinks order. First Watch has a homespun feel with a large selection of breakfast and lunch options. They ONLY serve breakfast and lunch, as their hours are 7 AM to 2:30 PM. Service was friendly, helpful and quick, something lacking in other Rockville breakfast places. I enjoyed my strawberry French Toast and my side of sausage. It was delicious and a true delight. Meals cost about $6 to $14, a plate. For me service and the food are equally important so it was a great experience. I wholeheartedly recommend this breakfast spot. read more

I do appreciate that first watch always has healthy alternatives. That being said, I still went with the eggs Benedict lol. First Watch is a very popular Sunday Brunch spot in downtown Rockville! My friends and I visited First Watch for a Sunday Brunch. They do not take reservations, so when we got there around 10:45 a.m., we had a 45-minute to 1-hour wait for 5 people. When our table was ready, we got a text to visit the front host stand, and we were quickly seated right after. Our server was super friendly and attentive. I ordered the Tri-Fecta and got a Chocolate Chip Pancake, Scrambled Eggs, and Chicken Sausage. I then also ordered a side of Seasoned Potatoes. The food came out fairly quickly after ordering. The pancake was delicious! The chocolate chips were melted throughout; I didn't even need syrup! The potatoes were a bit disappointing. They lacked a bit of flavor and I expected them to be a bit crispier. I couldn't eat the potatoes as they were so I added my scrambled eggs and sausage to the potatoes then topped it with Cholula Hot Sauce that was on the table. Overall, the food and ambiance of First Watch were good, and I could see us coming back. I would definitely skip the potatoes next time. read more

We were a party of six and were seated in a booth right away. The booth is a little tight for six. The service from our server was quick, attentive, friendly, and polite. We ordered brunch/lunch and our food arrived reasonably fast. I ordered the lemon ricotta pancakes, and they tasted incredible even though I could not taste any ricotta, which has a very distinct flavor. I was full eating only about half and boxed up the rest as leftovers! I also ordered the purple haze nonalcoholic beverage, which was superb! Sweet, flavorful, fresh, and incredible. The others in our party also enjoyed their meals (BLT, veggie sandwich, breakfast wrap, muffin, chicken melt, and salad). The options are vast but it seems like you can't go wrong choosing anything here. Enjoy your meal! read more

This place was busy but it was more than understandable why. The food was delish, portions were great and most importantly affordable, and the service was excellent. When we got there, there was a wait, but it went by quickly. We were then seated and immediately assisted. I got the tres leches french toast which was an absolute win. My plate was cleaned, quickly. I also had the veg omelete, which was just average to me. I was hoping for more seasoning on the omlette and for the greens to be cooked and inside the omlette. But the toast was great. This was my first time visiting first watch so I didn't know what to expect. I arrived on a Monday around 11. There was a line when I arrived. The line consist of people who were paying and those waiting to be seated which I thought was odd. I'm use to restaurants having 2 separate lines. I was seated right away. The waitress came over within 5 minutes and offered coffee or juice. Then advised she would give me a few minutes to look over the menu. I decided on the lemon ricotta pancakes, bacon and potatoes. I ordered everything a la carte but she informed I could get the trifecta and substitute the eggs for potatoes. It was a great suggestion. The presentation of the food was mediocre and the temperature was just warm. The taste however was delicious. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Wait time estimates could use significant improvement. After signing up on their online waitlist and being told the wait time would be 5 mins , the wait turned into 30 minutes. After being seated, the waitress was frequently away from the table, only returning once despite being one table down, apparently flirting and chatting with her significant other while he ate. Once we received our food, there was hair in one of the plates from a staff member in the kitchen. YMMV but I cannot recommend. read more

Big First Watch fan - have been here a number of times & the place is always packed. My go-to is the Classic Eggs Benedict - a fresher version of everyone else's 'classic' Eggs Benedict ...mainly with the addition of the greens. Ham & bread are excellent! Service has always been great - which is commendable as it's always extremely busy. Text paging system seems to work well - estimated time on this visit was accurate. We also had the Million Dollar Bacon (of course) - a must! Server was attentive - soda & coffee refills came quickly. Loud but lively atmosphere... Highly recommended! read more

Finally First Watch has a vegan item on their menu! I want to have a parade for them I am so happy! This First Watch has one community table that you can see immediately when you walk in. If you come by yourself you can make some friends at this table, or enjoy a private table solo. I got a table with my friend, and was impressed for a breakfast spot how quiet it was. It was really easy to converse and catch up with my friend. First Watch has fantastic options for vegetarians, however, it has always seemed to abandon vegans. Finally they added an açaí berry bowl to the menu which is vegan without any modifications. While I waited for my meal I got to enjoy a pot of decaf coffee all for myself. I love that First Watch let's you pour your own coffee so you never have to wait for a refill. Additionally, they brought over some oat milk to add nondairy cream to my cup. The açaí bowl was beautiful as it was decorated with granola and berries. I also loved the side of toast with almond butter. Almond butter is naturally sweet and they included some salt crystals do give it a little salty deliciousness. The açaí was very frozen and took awhile to melt into a smoothie consistency in the bowl. I wish they had warmed the açaí a little more before assembling the berries and granola on top to ensure it got to me in a form that did not require an ice pick to enjoy. Once the açaí was melted, I enjoyed the flavors and this meal was certainly filling. I hope that First Watch continues to offer vegan menu options. It would be great for them to have a vegan egg or tofu scramble on the menu next. Till then I will gladly order this meal again, and hopefully it will be less frozen next time. read more

Food was great. My daughter had the kids chocolate chip pancake, it was huge and i had to eat some of it. I got the chickichanga which was like a breakfast burrito with egg, onions, peppers, chicken chorizo and avocado. Im not sure what the sauce was on top but it was great. The tortilla was crisp and the filling has a nice amount of spice from the chorizo. It came with a lightly dressed side salad and fruit cup. A small breakfast diner offering more modern, healthier meals. When I checked online, I didn't see the reservation option, so I just went to the place on Sunday morning, but I was told that the wait would be 45 min. The staff also let us know that there was a community table, so we decided to sit there as we didn't want to wait. I later learned that you can get in line online and wait, so if you are a big group or need an individual table, I highly recommend checking in online first. The menu was versatile, from savory items like omelets and sandwiches to sweet items like pancakes. I would say drink options were pretty limited, as there were no smoothies or milkshakes. My drink, Mango Passion Palmer has a strong mango flavor so I barely tasted green tea or ginger. The blueberry multigrain pancake was solid. The crispy edges and fluffy on the inside. It went well with whipped butter. A decent amount of blueberries were in it so I didn't use the jam, which was more generic and sugary. Biscuits & Turkey Sausage Gravy with Eggs was also pretty good considering the price. Freshly baked biscuits were a perfect match with creamy but not greasy gravy. Seasoning of the potato was good, but it was soggy rather than crispy. The service was minimal but professional. If you like a quiet place to relax and enjoy conversation over brunch, this might not be a place for you. read more
