I remember when this place first opened a few years ago, and I always told myself that I was going to drop by. That time finally happened when I had some time to pass before the event started. When I walked in, I was the only one inside and they were two tables with four seats each and a bench. When I looked at the menu I realized that they had the typical Pizza take out options, but also a bunch of South Asian options. I saw momos. I LOVE momos!!! And, even though it's not on the menu, there is a sign in their window that says you can get a slice of either cheese or pepperoni. PERFECT. So I got a slice of cheese and an order of chicken momos. They said it would take 10 to 15 minutes, but it actually took a little longer... Maybe 20? I stepped out and took a walk around the building. Everything was ready, and I grabbed it, along with a bottle of water, and dove right in. The pizza was piping hot, so I went to momos first. 10 come in an order with a sauce in the middle... My sample size is fairly low, but to me these momos were fantastic. Absolutely fantastic, flavorful and all, especially with the sauce. The pizza... for $5, quite average man. I didn't see any Red pepper or other usual Pizza fixings around. Usually one doesn't have to ask and they might have had them, but I didn't inquire. I really didn't love the pizza, honestly. But if the momos are an indication of the other South Asian options they have, I need to work my way through that side of the menu. And I shall! read more

Old Bay Fries - Piping hot and crispy with just the right amount of Old Bay. Too much and it becomes too salty for me. Service: Upon entering, no one was at the counter which I thought was odd. Fortunately I saw a bell at the counter and rang it. A gentleman came out and greeted me. I asked his recommendation as I was wavering between the wings and cheesesteak. He informed me they are known for their wings. I was told that it would take 20 minutes to cook. When it was ready, I picked it up at the counter. So, my kid likes pizza, as kids do, and we wanted to try a different place. We went with LA Pizza, but I don't think we'll try it again. The olive pizza was fine. It had ample olives, which is key. However, we also ordered a veggie stromboli. That was mediocre. It's enough to feed two people, but neither of us were happy that we ate it. Next we ordered the garlic knots. Well, let's just say I melted butter and added garlic, mixed them and baked them for a minute after we tried one. We did takeout, so I can't comment on service. read more

Tonight I ordered the vegetable Stromboli, large olive pizza and garlic knots. I want to say there was something of the three that was great but they were all mid. The olive pizza had a decent amount of olives on it but sauce was basic, the cheese was alright and the crust didn't contribute anything. The Stromboli was a bit better but it was finely diced vegetable toppings stuffed inside a pocket. The flavor was alright but the toppings fell out with every bite. The garlic knots weren't garlicy nor knotty. They were pieces of toasted bread. There wasn't any visble garlic, the pieces were dry without any oil or butter, lastly, no shape. Maybe the butter bath at the end was forgotten? Maybe the parmesan was forgotten? But these weren't good and I wouldn't recommend them to anybody. I wanted to like a local place instead of the chains in the area but la pizza can do better. I can't recommend the pizza, Stromboli or toasted pieces of bread. read more

Heard so many good things about the wings here from a local group, so we got wings (crispy Southern style & lemon pepper), mozzarella sticks, potato skins, and the 21 shrimp basket platter. Wings were huge, plump, and juicy. The crispy Southern style wings were pretty good. As for the lemon pepper, it pretty much tasted like the crispy Southern style wings. I wish it had more lemon peppers sauce on them. Seemed like these wings were barely tossed in any sauce. Mozzarella sticks were a good size and very cheesy. Potato skins were good, but would have been nice to know that adding bacon was extra $ (which I would have gladly paid for). The 21 shrimp basket platter was okay. You get 21 pieces of tiny shrimp and the fries were pretty standard. Don't think I'd other this dinner platter next time around. Service was friendly and ordering over the phone was easy. La Pizza opened recently and is in old the California Bistro spot. Had a chance to stop by and order pizza and some apps. I prefer good ol' plain cheese pizza! And the smallest size (10-12") at La Pizza was only $8.99. Great dough flavor. Nice blend of cheeses. Sauce was good. Not too tangy or overly sweet. Cooked through without being chewy/burnt. One small pizza was enough for 3 days for me though. :) Got the jalapeno poppers and lemon pepper wings. Wasn't expecting the poppers to be breaded. They were ok. Cheesy but I think I'll pass on these next time. The wings were great. Fried well. Just the right amount of sauce so they were flavorful without being greasy. Will have to check out the other flavors for the wings! There are a few tables to sit indoors. There's a lot of light coming in through the windows. Large counter to order. Owner was friendly. It is great having this pizza shop in our neighborhood! The pizza choices are great and the other items on the menu are a first class addition you don't normally see. The steak and cheese sandwich is among the best I have had, for example. The owner is super friendly. It is clear he is putting his heart and soul into the business and it is apparent that he is trying to make everything perfect. On several occasions I have coordinated large business function orders of 20+ pizzas - and it is a pleasure to do that here. I spoke with the owner a day or two ahead, telling him what pizzas I wanted and when. He followed up with me the day prior. The pizzas are ready exactly on time. Once I needed them very close to 11:00am, when the store opens. He came in early to get everything started, fired up his TWO super ovens running in parallel, and had 20 hot pizzas ready for me at 11:08! I can just know that he will never let me down and that takes a lot of stress off me. Being from New York and being Italian we really appreciate a good pizza! Well La Pizza is our family's new favorite! Excellent and freshly made crust, good tasting sauce and fresh cut pepperoni and to top it off they have anchovies as a topping! That's a sign of a good pizza place is having anchovies, it amazes me how many pizza places do not have them! We also had the wings which were tasty and a nice size, some places I think use Cornish hen's chicken wings. The new owners have done a fabulous job on cleaning up the joint, the floors and tile walls were shinning and the whole place looks fresh and clean! If you love a good pizza you'll find it here! Best pizza place I have found in Maryland and lucky for me it's 5 min up the road in Derwood/Redland. Pizza is very good, yum on the cheesecake, poutine fries (a little salty so tell them you want low salt...gravy and cheese= a treat), mozzarella sticks, wings are good normal no sauce are crispy and come in a variety of flavors (garlic honey is my fav) really fair pricing and good deals via Manager specials. read more

As a New Yorker maybe my expectations are too high for pizza in Maryland. To be fair, I won't compare this to a NY pie. The pie on its own was ok. Nothing exciting. Nothing to write home about. Not much different than national chain delivery pizza. I really don't get the people who give it 5 stars. It's not as good as CS NY Pizza on the Pike or Ragu up 97. The Caesar Salad was the only other thing I got. Hard to screw up lettuce, cheese and croutons. The dressing that accompanied was Pre-packaged Ken's (parmesan/peppercorn) so it wasn't even Caesar. Overall a big giant MEH. Hope it works out for the owners as they seemed nice but that location hasn't really seemed to work out for anyone else. read more
