Stopped in to the Bog Buns in McLean today. This is my 3rd visit in a month. I think the food is great and their Classic bundle is a great value. But the new manager, Joe, gave great customer service. A first for this location. I was greeted as soon as I walked in. He took the time to make sure I was happy with the food. At a time where customer service has all but disappeared, Joe understands the value of a simple "Hi" and a smile. Big Buns-Mclean, is the newest addition to this great franchise. Located in a shopping center with plenty of free parking, Big Buns store is clean but with a much tighter space. Because of the store size, it seems like this location can get quite busy and fill up fast, but Big Buns keeps it moving! I placed my order to go, and it was ready within 10 mins...and I was even able to enjoy my cookie butter milkshake while I waited for my food. FYI..their milkshakes are phenomenal, and I must admit that their fried chicken sandwiches are among my faves in the area. I had their fries before, and they're nothing special (disclaimer: i received that particular order by 3rd party delivery, and the fries were cold), but I do like their fried Brussel sprouts, which comes with bacon jam and sriracha sauce. The customer service was also very friendly on my visit and my experience with Big Buns has been overall professional and service-oriented. One time, I called to express my concern about my milkshake (on 3 separate occasions) not being received with my food delivery. The Service representative was apologetic for my experience, and offered me a $25 gift card. They also explained that its expected for customers/delivery persons to retrieve their beverages from the small refrigerator. So just a heads up, if you place a to-go order (online) make sure you (or your delivery person) picks up all beverages from the refrigerator that's located next to the soda/fountain drink machine, prior to leaving. Well I did think the burgers were good, but maybe not reaching exceptional level. The flavorful toppings were nice and did add texture and flavor but again not exceptional in my opinion. The place was new and exceptionally clean, the service was attentive and friendly for sure. This is a great addition to a rather boring McLean dining scene to be honest. Though they will be battling Z burger for survival now. Truffle fries were average- but not like Randy's Steakhouse in Tyson's ( ok different level). Nice variety on menu though and I love the TV and draft beer to make it more fun to hang out. Give it a try it's worth it. Burgers are $15 ish! So it's definitely focused on unique styles quality burgers. I think it's pretty darn good but pricey for sure. read more

The "premium" burger I received after ordering online through my Thompson's Rewards account had one huge problem. The sandwich I ordered was supposed to have tomatoes. The sandwich I received had one small slice of an unripe "butt" end of a tomato that was mostly "core." It covered less than half of the sandwich. No other attempt was made to cover the whole sandwich. The tomato was totally MIA. I was disappointed, because the sandwich was expensive, and it would have been great if it had had ripe tomato on it. The service was wonderful. Top notch! Stopped by today for a bite to eat while waiting for friends. The store was pretty busy at 6:30pm on a Wednesday night, Store is a typical modern fast food place. Order: 2 Angus Peppercorn crusted burgers medium + garlic Parmesan fries + 1 fountain drink . Total: $47.88 + $5 tip (they clean up so I felt bad not leaving a tip) The burger was moist and cooked properly. The initial bite was ok. Got a big taste of "bland beef" in first bite. As the second and third bites followed, taste was much better. There was many areas of salt and areas of bland which leads me to think they don't season or mix well. It is definitely juicy and it went everywhere. If you don't eat your burger fast enough, bun will get soggy. Seems like they didn't let the burger rest for a minute before placing on bun. Parmesan garlic fries has fresh garlic and if you like garlic, you'll love these fries. Overall, we would return here for sure. It was rated 8/10 for the meal however that is a pretty expensive tab for the meal . It's close to not be worth the amount. The burger $13.99 plus $1 for pickles . Parmesan fries $8.99. Some including myself may find this a little too pricey for fast food. Although we didn't enjoy any, most of the patrons were enjoying draft beer and alcoholic milkshakes. Brought in water bottles for kids and was immediately told we had to go put them back in our car. I can't recall the last time I've been told to do that. While ordering, the instructions on the kiosk were confusing. When we asked to clarify, at first we were ignored and then were given unclear instructions in a rude manner. Waited about 20 minutes for our food. Was noticeably slow - there were no other customers ahead of us and only a couple mobile orders during that time. Later asked if they had any hot sauce and one of the workers said they did and went to get some for me - the manager then came out and said it would be a dollar extra charge. Really? We go to the Shirlington location often and it is one of my family's favorite go-to places. Although the food is similar (the taste at Shirlington is better), the overall service experience could not be more different. I will not be coming back to this location again. I feel like it is pretty difficult to provide poor service at a fast casual "chain", but somehow this location has done it. I don't know if this is a franchise location, but if this is a company-owned location, they need to reevaluate management and their service approach and standards across locations. If Shirlington is an A, this location gets a C. read more

They have a full menu of burgers, chicken sandwiches, burger bowls, different types of fries and shakes. They even have Boozy shakes where you can add rum or Irish Cream. In addition, they have a small cocktail menu. I ordered a Fried chicken sandwich & fries. The chicken was pretty thin, but it was really good and flavorful. I built my own sandwich as they have lots of toppings to choose from. They also offer avocado, bacon, fried egg and onion straws as premium toppings. The guy who took my order was very friendly and helpful. I had a lot of questions since it was my first visit, but he was really patient. I'll definitely go back and try a burger. read more

My first trip to Big Buns - McLean...but not remotely possible my last! The VALUE of the combo meal is exceptional. The opportunity to order a handmade, scratch made burger (or so it tasted) to my liking (medium) was a treat forgotten long ago by the pre-packaged overpriced frozen offerings at other so-called burger joints (MiFI; Five Guys; Habit), none of which compare, not at all. Though I wish I could get a fountain dietCoke with my meal, I get it that the CocaCola company does not make it easy for the smaller operators to buy sufficient product to be able to provide "free" refills. The strawberry watermelon juice concoction was refreshing and did the trick for me. And, BTW, who offers gruyere cheese on a burger! Another Big Buns treat. Can't wait to go back. read more
