Huge breakfast Omlette

The food at Kaldi Social house is on point for anything you can think about for breakfast whether it's a light pastry or a huge omelette they have got you covered. You will order via a QPR at your table. The food comes out fresh and hot and delivered in a very cheerful manner. Whether you are there for a quick grab and go or bringing the laptop for an extended stay - very nice surroundings

A very great place to work or study! There is a long bar table with outlets. Their menu has a little something for everyone. Very cozy for work.

I stopped by Kaldis for a work from home day while I was in the area running errands. Parking can be a bit tricky since it is in downtown Silver Spring, but there is a garage within walking distance which made it manageable. The ambiance was really inviting, and I learned that on weekends it even turns into a rooftop nightlife spot. Service was quick and accurate, which I appreciated while getting work done. The food was tasty and well prepared, and it did exactly what I needed it to do. I would definitely come back if I am in the area.

Kaldi's is definitely one of my favorite coffeeshops. It's pretty spacious, but there have been many times I wasn't able to find a seat, especially on weekends. I've never been disappointed by the food and drinks. They give you a pretty decent amount of food, so I'll say it's worth the price. I used to come here for happy hour and their upstairs lounge back in the day, but I'm not sure that still goes on. I remember the drinks being a pretty reasonable price as well.

Went to Kaldi's for brunch and was truly satisfied with everything. My iced coffee was delicious and the breakfast sandwich was simple but tasty. Potatoes were seasoned to perfection. Good place for remote work as well.

I can here on a whim and man it was so great! I got the shashuka and wow, it was so good! I got their apple butter latte and it was really well done however I think I just didn't like the flavor of it personally but it doesn't mean that it wasn't Not well done! I will just choose a different flavor next time! The place was super crowded and it was a hip survive, which I really loved! They have a ton of seating at this location! It is honestly probably one of the biggest coffee shops I've been to in this area! The service was good. For how crowded they were. They made the stuff super fast.!!

I love Kaldi's! Such a great atmosphere for small meetings, studying/work, or even a date. I have been periodically going for years, but finally decided I should review because I forgot how delicious the breakfast sandwich is! I'm a pescatarian so I got it without any meat, but it was so good even without. I think it's the crisp of the cheese. I also got the strawberry fields smoothie- love the fresh strawberry topping and the slight thickness from the almond butter. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars was due to the wait being a little long (but reasonable) and for the upcharge if I had gotten plant-based meat...but again, the sandwich was delicious as is!

Açaí Bowl and caramel macchiato.

In town from San Francisco and decided to walk to Kaldi's to grab a late breakfast. Wanted something healthyish so got an Açaí bowl which was huge and delicious. I like the way the toppings were separated out. Also had an amazing caramel macchiato as well. Great service too!

We came here with our friend and our baby. It is such a great place to meet up with friends and enjoy coffee/ tea and some good food. The atmosphere is amazing. We came here for brunch and I ordered chicken and waffle, a croissant, a zucchini bread. Everything is quite delicious. My husband got an açaí bowl and he loves it very much. I would definitely come back again to try more bakery goods. There is a phone ordering service which is so convenient. I cannot wait til our next meet up with friends here :)

Dirty chai and a la carte breakfast

I decided to have a breakfast affair while visiting, and instead of going to Parkway Deli I elected to have a meal at Kaldi's. The space is very hipster but in the best ways possible. Ordering is through a QR on the table. Service was pleasant. The staff was efficient. My over easy egg was more of an over hard than easy, but the food was delicious overall. The dirty chai was divine. Glad I stopped in. Parkway will always be bae, but if I need variety this place is where I'll go.

Ultimate Breakfast Sandwich

I saw this place while walking and wanted to try it. Self-seating was easy, as was the placement of the QR code. Went with two children (15, 11) and they enjoyed the food and the ability to relax and have great conversations at our table. Service was quick from the time we placed the order. Highly recommend. Can't wait to go back.

Ask the Community - Kaldi's Social House

Are you open for indoor sitting?

As of 2023/2024 at least, yes!

Is there outdoor seating?

I was there this morning. Only two large mesh metal tables, but lots of chairs. If you're not COVID phobic, then be prepared to share. There were four separate groups sharing the space this morning. Nobody minding.

Can you please update your Yelp to reflect the fact that this location is closed?

Not closed but no indoor dining until mid June. Right now it's just beverages and pastries to go..

When does happy hour end?

Happy Hour ends at 7 pm on weekdays (rooftop only).

Do they have tv's to watch the NBA finals?

Yes!

Are walk-ins allowed for brunch?

Yes

What time does hookah start and is it only on the rooftop?

Hi. It's only offered on the rooftop-- upstairs portion of the place. It starts most evenings at 5pm - until; not sure about weekends. By the way, the rooftop is open year round -- also during the winter and is heated.

What's the WiFi password?

"Askthemanager2019"

Are you open now?

Yes

What time the does the club scene start? Is there a fee to get in? If so how much?

There's usually an event most nights of the week. Wednesdays are salsa nights and Thursdays are afro beats. Happy hour is from 4 to 8 and the place starts getting crowded around 9 or so. On weekends there's a $10 cover I believe.

What time does the Roof open?

2pm

Does the lower patio have waiter service? Also, WiFi on patio? And dogs allowed?

Sorta. You'll have to place the order at the register and they'll bring it out to you. Wi-Fi may reach the patio and dogs are allowed on the lower patio.

What time does happy hour start?

4 pm

The Breakfast Club, no not the 80s movie classic, no not the nationally syndicated morning show…read morethat sold out and went corporate and Netflix, but the Black diaspora sanctuary spot in the heart of Silver Spring off of Fenton Street is where I took my mom to for a brunch on an early Friday afternoon before Mother's Day weekend. It was awesome to see the diversity of the diaspora from the African continent (East and West Africa) the Caribbean/Latin America, and America all in one safe space enjoying themselves without the performative and obnoxiousness from others I would give them that. The Billy Holliday mural and the interior design has a nice sleek, New American vibe. My problem is the service, the cost, and the food although solid, I cooked a brunch the following day myself not to brag (scrambled eggs and cheese, friend potatoes with diced green peppers and onions) that was masterful in comparison to the gingerbread style big ole French toast and fancy "scrambled eggs and cheese" this spot has. The service charge was ridiculous as my mom's bill was 70 plus bucks for just the seafood shrimp and grits which was nice, a very sweet pre-diabetic lemonade, and bread pudding that was like bougie Georgetown prices with the dominant culture. I paid 40 dollars (Hairstylist from Baby Boy!) for French toast, scrambled eggs with cheese and lemonade. The food is nice and all but nothing to die for. We came for the vibe, culture, and atmosphere also, but we do prefer the chains of Dennys and I-hop if I am not doing the cooking which is most of the time. The server would dirty mack and take a while flirting with women at the bar and playing around with staff, and I had to give a clinical gaze with my glasses and hand signal for him to return. We did ask up front about service charge and gratuity included from the beginning but they have a very Southern slow pace here that I agree with others and I am a very patient man and notice that. It can take a while to get your checks, get change, just other tasks that you would think would be handled more efficiently. The place attracts the social media crowd, with professional pictures, the glitz, the glamor the Hollywood red carpet of the DMV, but the structural integrity of the pricing, service, and experience needs to step its game up in the worst way. We certainly see this place being a bit turned up and precarious in later hours. The closest parking that is reliable enough is the Safeway garage so it is not the most convenient, where as at least Matchbox has the Wayne and Colesville garages to park at and then enter. It was nice to support the Black owned establishment but it is a 1 and done spot. Majic 102.3 put in the hype a couple of years ago, but I found the truth, no thanks, it is a performative culture that still has that ole Georgia Ave. street culture.

All were excellent, Star was the burrata, so creamy and had pesto with it. My entree was a prosciutto sandwich with fig spread. The sandwich was on ciabatta bread. It held the sweet fig spread, savory prosciutto and soft Brie . Very filling and yummy, and came with crisp fries. Everyone loved their food. Some had dessert and coffee afterwards which was also top notch.

My cousin and bestie were in town and wanted a true DC brunch/day party vibe, so we gave it a shot and overall, it was a good time. When we arrived, we ordered mimosa pitchers and were directed straight to the buffet. The food spread was huge: waffles, pancakes, French toast, made-to-order omelets, chicken sausage, pork sausage, bacon, fried chicken, jerk chicken, shrimp, grits, collard greens, mac & cheese, breakfast potatoes, salmon, fresh fruit, and more than I can even remember. The variety was definitely a highlight. I wish they had real food utensils instead of plastic. The mimosas, however, were very juice-heavy and pretty weak . We ended up switching to bottle service so we could enjoy real champagne, which was much better. The absolute best part of the experience was our server, Noah kind, attentive, friendly, and fine AF . She made sure our drinks stayed flowing and kept us informed about our table time so there were no surprises. Top-tier service. The space itself is large with two levels. We initially thought we'd be seated downstairs, but due to a private event, we were directed upstairs. You pre-pay for the food at the door before being seated, while drinks are paid for at the table. Hookah is also available for an additional cost. Overall, I'd definitely go back especially on a Sunday when I don't have work the next day. It's a fun spot for the 30-something crowd looking for good food, music, and a lively day party atmosphere.

In March 2018, my girlfriend at the time wanted to go here as there was a group of people going for St. Patrick's Day. We went here along with her young pre-teen daughter. They almost weren't going to let us in, but my g/f assured we just needed to eat, and they said since it was before 9 PM, it'd be ok. I enjoyed my Shepherd's Pie, a solid option here. After eating, there was dancing on the dance floor and a couple of people I knew. Then, my g/f went out to the dance floor. I'm sitting at the table with my g/f's pre-teen daughter who fell asleep. It was awkward for me especially since someone asked me if she was ok, and I said she's just tired. We left sometime in the midnight hour. But the fact of the matter was that my g/f shouldn't have put her daughter in that situation.
