    Hummus & Vegetable Wrap
    Serena X.

I ordered for a crew of 8 working nearby, including myself, and was unbelievably impressed by this place. I only tried the hummus wrap and awaze tips panini - both were spicy, flavorful, and absolutely delicious. I seriously think this is one of the top 5 restaurants I've been to in the DMV area. The owner is so kind, as she even helped me carry the to-go bags to my car. If I lived closer, I would come here all the time. Please support this local business, it is so worth it!

One of the best dining experiences I've ever had. Meeting Mrs. Beth was like meeting a long lost relative. Nothing but love. She is the nicest owner I've ever had the pleasure of meeting. I've never had Ethiopian food so I was a bit anxious with selecting what to eat! Mrs Beth recommended I try the kifto panini and awaze tibs and let me tell you.. after my first bite of each of my sandwiches. I just stood up and gave her a hug. They were both out of this world delicious. I simply couldn't believe what I was missing from my life. Mrs. Beth seemed overjoyed by my reactions and she insisted I try some treats on the house and so I did and everything was just marvelous. I'll sit through 270 traffic any day to come here! This place is a must try!

two people sitting at a table outside - Two people are seated at a black metal outdoor table in front of Lemon Slice Cafe, engaged in conversation. The cafe's signage, including a lemon logo and the name, is visible on the brick building. The scene includes additional empty chairs and a menu board on a stand. The setting appears to be a sidewalk patio area with a brick-paved surface, and the cafe interior can be seen through large windows.

Lemon Slice Cafe in downtown Silver Spring is a gem! Piping hot, delicious soup, a vibrant and accommodating staff, and scrumptious sandwiches make it a must-visit spot.

I decided to try this place after reading all the great reviews. Plus it's in the neighborhood and I felt like taking a little walk. I wanted to try the vegan breakfast wrap that people are raving about and It DID NOT disappoint!! The wrap was sooo good. So much flavor. It has scrambled tofu, mushrooms, tomato, onion and avocado. Even if you are not vegan, you will enjoy it. I also had a side of potatoes that came with a delicious aioli dip. I also dipped the wrap in the sauce too because it was just too good lol. The potatoes had a nice amount of spice, I don't know what seasoning was used but it was perfect. I am already looking forward to having this wrap again. So good!!

The cafe interior features a tiled floor, a wooden counter, and refrigerated beverage units. Seating includes black chairs with green cushions, and the ceiling has a patterned design with track lighting. The background includes menu boards and display cases.

THE BEST PLACE IVE BEEN TO IN A WHILE! First of all as soon as you enter the cafe Mrs. Beth greets you with the sweetest smile ever. she asked if it was the first time and gave us a menu in hand to look at and recommended a few times on the menu. She came over and checked on us a few times and made sure we had everything we needed! The chicken pesto panini was delicious that pesto sauce had so much flavor! I tried some of the kitfo panini and WOW I can't even describe the flavor except explodes in your mouth and wishing this pace was closer to me! I traveled all the way from frederick for this and I promise you it's worth the drive. The Awaze Tibs was out of this world i should've ordered more than one. We dined in so they serve each panini with a side salad with a zesty dressing. This would be the go to place if i had one nearby. She was so generous enough to let us try some of the famous lemon slice cake. She truly was a gentle soul like a friend who truly feels like family. Wish for nothing but success to her and the business. Mrs.Beth thank you for the experience!!!

    Breakfast Sandwich with bacon
    Nicole J.

It's a small cafe in downtown Silver Spring with outdoor seating and a few small tables inside. I met a friend for breakfast on a Sunday morning and between the two of us we had the breakfast wrap with bacon, home fries, and two breakfast sandwiches. My greedy friend enjoyed both of his sandwiches while I wasn't too happy with my wrap or the home fries. The bacon in my wrap was flimsy and the lemon slice sauce it comes with was overwhelming and without flavor. The home fries appeared flavorful and the server warned us that they were spicy but I tasted no such thing. Despite my not being happy with my breakfast choices I will absolutely be returning! The staff was so nice and helpful and the prices aren't excessively high like other places in the area.

Such a sweet little cafe. We arrived just after they opened on a Sunday and it was quiet with relaxing, ambient music playing. We ordered a sausage breakfast sandwich on a croissant and a veggie breakfast sandwich, both of which were so good. A veggie breakfast sandwich with spinach and mushrooms can easily go south but this was the best I've had in a long time. Whatever the marinade or sauce is is so perfect. We also ordered two coffees and those were great. I was bummed they didn't have an espresso machine but they offer to add cream and sugar to your coffee for you and that hit the spot for my usual vanilla latte. Plenty of indoor or outdoor seating, WiFi, and vegan options, this hidden gem has a bit of everything. The person working was incredibly kind and quick with our orders even though they were the only one working and other patrons were steadily streaming in. They brought our food and coffees to us at our table and since we had our suitcases with us, they opened the door for us and wished us happy travels as we were leaving. We loved this place!

Lemon cake slice. Dry and small
    Gina R.

Def def not 5 star. The lemon cake slice was super small and the cake was dry taste store bought, store bought tastes better, home fries taste unseasoned and they didn't send the spicy Mayo I selected online with it, the Turkey sausage tastes microwaved. I Try to be fair but this place has 5 stars on here and it's just not true. Everything cost $28 and honestly the taste is equivalent to a hospital or school cafeteria food. I actually was going to order lunch to have everything delivered at the same time, I'm so glad I didn't because it would have been a waste of money.

a yellow umbrella outside - The image shows the exterior of Lemon Slice Cafe, with a brick wall and a sign displaying the cafe's name and logo featuring lemons. A yellow umbrella provides shade over an outdoor seating area, and a black speaker is positioned near the wall. Some plants are visible in the foreground, partially obscuring the view.

Wonderful food, music, atmosphere and friendship. We had a perfect day for outdoor dining and Lemon Slice was the perfect place to enjoy it.

Baklava, saffron, old bay, cantaloupe, and more! They had classics as well like chocolate and mint. A single scoop was $6 and was a good size. I got the baklava and WOW. I'm a huge baklava fan and this was incredible. I don't know how they mixed real, delicious chunks of baklava in the honey ice cream without it getting soggy or mushy, but they did and it was amazing! A friend got their dark chocolate and it might be the best chocolate ice cream I've ever had- I'm look at you Ben and Jerry! Some other nice touches- the spoons change color with different temperatures! So fun to watch your spoon change when it sits in the ice cream. If you're coming in from East-West Highway (pro tip: don't if you're driving, the parking there is restricted and they tow) you have to walk down stairs between the 1830 building and Denizens to find it. They allow one party in the building at a time. My boys and I went in and the young man immediately asked if we were just using the restroom or also getting ice cream-- I doubt they have public restrooms but I was on a trot after 3 hours out-- and when he realized we were getting ice cream, he didn't allow anyone in until we came out of the bathroom, ordered and left. Very safe. Their ice cream is clean, delicious, and their flavors are unique. I tried honey lavender and It was SOOO good until the very end ( I ate a bit of lavender and didn't taste anything else til I was done). The boys' strawberry ice cream was delicious and NOT pink- we avoid red dyes so this was exactly what we were looking for. The sugar cones are just the right size for the small children and they don't overstuff the cones a la Brusters and Ben and Jerry's. These are just right in size and price for kids. They didn't have a "kids cone" option per se (but I didn't ask) we just did a single scoop. That's one thing I'd like- a cake cone (smaller) with a kid sized scoop. As ir was, I got a scoop and a half helping the 3 year old finish. The 6 year old inhaled it in 2 minutes so it's just about right! Overall it's close to home, easy to get to once you know it's there and had great service plus AWESOME ice cream. I cannot wait to try the ginger, coconut, and wild blueberry! Lo

I recently picked up a small Lemon cake and a Strawberry cake from Morning My Day in Silver Spring…read more I was expecting a decent dessert; I wasn't expecting to be reminded that most other bakeries have been lying to us for years. The first bite was a bit of a shock to the system. It's one of those rare "Ratatouille moments" where a flavor profile manages to bridge the gap between Maryland and the legendary sponge cakes of Phoenix Bakery in LA. It's a bit of a trick, really--making something taste like a childhood memory without being cloying about it. The Breakdown: * The Sponge: It's exceptionally light. Biting into it is less like eating a dense dessert and more like biting into a sweetened, high-end pillow. It's airy, delicate, and possesses the kind of structural integrity that only a professional (or a wizard) could manage. * The Icing: A triumph of restraint. Instead of the usual sugary plaster one finds elsewhere, this is a light, white cream. It's sweet enough to let you know it's there, but it doesn't try to dominate the conversation. It's icing with a bit of dignity. * The Verdict: This is how cake ought to be. It's exquisite, technically brilliant, and far too easy to eat in a single sitting. If you appreciate a dessert that relies on craft rather than a massive dose of corn syrup, do yourself a favor and stop by. It's a legit bit of baking excellence right here in Silver Spring

My egg and cheese croissant sandwich, which I ordered with havarti cheese and avocado was delicious. It was served warm. Everything was soft and tender. My sandwich was not overly salty, as well, which I appreciated. I was also surprised that my sandwich was served with fries. The fries were tasty, but too thin for my liking. My chai tea latte was also yummy, not too frothy, and not sweet, as I ordered no sweetener. - Menu. There appears to be something for everyone- coffee, non-caffeinated drinks, sweet baked good, savory baked goods, non-dairy options, and full meals. - Service. The time I waited for my order to be ready was fairly brief. Probably less than 10 minutes. My drink and food were ready separately and did not come together. They call out your name for your order, so make sure you are paying attention. - Price. For spending less than $20 on a meal, I would say it's pretty good value for money. My egg and cheese croissant sandwich was also substantive and not skimpy, which was good. - Layout. The inside has a pretty good space. There are counters with high stool seating, and a fair amount of tables and chair for regular seating, as well. - Location. Convenient, especially to other restaurants and shops. there is also parking in the area. However, be prepared to spend time and money on parking, depending on the day and time you come. What's Not - Service. It appears to be mostly self-service. After you enter their front entrance, there are two kiosks for self-service ordering. On the one hand, it's helpful if you know what you're ordering. On the other hand, if you have questions, their kiosks are not conducive for that. They have baked goods section, which appears to also be self-serve. However, I was uncertain how that actually worked, because I did not see an in-person cashier. - Layout. Depending on the size of your group, and day and time you come, seating can be difficult to come by. Most of their seating appears to be cramped, as well (i.e., many of their sit down tables and chairs are very close together). - Acoustics. They play music inside at a volume that is not very conducive for conversation. - Parking. There is parking in the area, but it can be difficult to find, depending on the day and time you come. On the day my friend and I were here, there was a lot of snow piled up, so finding street parking was very difficult. There are parking lots in the area, most of which are paid parking, so be mindful of the time you spend. There appears to be free parking in the area, but those are not easy to come by depending on the day and time. Final Answer Willing to come back, but probably not a first choice.
