Wish I can spend more time here! Came here initially wanting to sample some flavors before I chose my flight, but panicked and had a friend choose flavors on my behalf. I didn't have that much exposure to the staff working there, but they recalled having a positive experience with the staffer and got to try as many flavors as possible. Furthermore, I could recall there was alone a bench outdoors and there's limited standing room indoors. With such an extensive menu, it was tough to decide what flavors my friend and I wanted. Everyday Sundae has become a regular stop for my family--we're here so often that we know Mr. Charles by name! The flavors are always rich and delicious, and I love that they let you sample before committing (dangerous when everything tastes good). My personal favorite is the Cappuccino, while my middle son is all about the Vanilla. The Cookie Monster flavor is out of this world, and the Cotton candy somehow tastes just like the real thing. I just went there for the first time, and personally did not have the most favorable customer service. The lady serving me was really nice. My friend and I wasn't sure what flavor we wanted and asked to try a few. She had two samples I had three. A man behind the counter proceeded to continually "joke" and make comments on how the servers did not know how to say no to a customer and he didn't want us to finish all the ice cream. With continued comments like save some for others and proceeded to put up signs limiting 3 samples per family. The whole interaction was very uncomfortable and unpleasant. This week I popped into "Everyday Sundae." Open since 2021, the website says "At Everyday Sundae, you'll enjoy premium ice cream, stellar customer service, and a vibrant, community-centric atmosphere." And every word is true. The owner, Charles, greeted me with a welcoming smile and a kind and fun exchange. The "Love Wall" and photos are a warm touch. The shop is small and cute with a little bit of seating. And with over 20 flavors, the ice cream I delighted in (Key Lime Pie & Bourbon Truffle) was creamy and flavorful. Considering the number of times I have been here in the past couple of years I am shocked I hadn't made a review yet. If you blink you might miss this small, yet quaint ice cream shop. I will say, that if you're looking for great ice cream this certainly the place. The last time I was here I was greeted warmly by staff while oldies were playing in the background. They have plenty of flavors and have something for everyone. There are many gems along Kennedy Street N.W. and some are the best are in Brightwood Park. There's a Saturday bakery, a cidery and Everyday Sundae, a neighborhood ice cream shop with a kind owner that scoops with smiles. After visiting on a Friday afternoon, here's my experience: 1) Ice cream: 24 rotating flavors are on display every day except Mondays starting at 3 p.m. Sourcing from a creamery in Pennsylvania (don't ask the name- it's a well-kept secret), the owner lets you try as many flavors as you want. I ordered a kids size for $3.50 and it comes with two scoops of any flavor. The cookie dough and cappuccino crunch made a good combo. The ice cream is creamy, unique and full of flavor. 2) Prices: For quality ice cream, the prices aren't bad. $3.50 for a kid size with two scoops. $5.25 for a single with three scoops. A double comes with six scoops and is $5.95. They also make milk shakes. 3) Space: It's a small space, but they make good use of it. There are local products on sale in the corner and a bench up front. Displaying how loved this spot is, there's a "Love Wall" of notes from the community. 4) Service: Charles, the owner, is very friendly. He talks to every customer with respect and scoops with a genuine smile. After losing his job during the pandemic, Everyday Sundae is his pandemic pivot and you can tell it's his passion. I wish I had taken pictures of my cone before I ate it but I was so excited by the flavors I chose! My friend and I visited Everyday Sundae about two weeks ago? At the time, they had Butter Pecan and the Cinnamon Swirl flavor and I chose those for my cone! Oh my god yall.... If you haven't been here yet, you're SLEEPIN! I didn't know this small hidden gem is Black-owned and local to the DC area. The owner was the one working and he was so kind and had a smile on his face even though he had half the store filled with people 5 minutes before close. I cannot wait to come back! It's also beautifully decorated with outdoor seating and stoles by the window front to sit by. It's a clean cut look with the menu of cone/scoop orders right by the start of the line. Tip: the flavors are written on top of the case, not on the windows so if you're a bit on the shorter side, get those toes ready! read more

I haven't been entirely satisfied with the ice cream shops of DC since my original favorite closed (Max's Best really was the best). Some places are underwhelming, but even though we do have some good ones, they tend not to be local and a lot of better places tend to be outside the city. So I was very intrigued when I saw this place open up on what must be one of the few streets in the entire District that I was completely unfamiliar with. They've got a wide variety of flavors, and while they tout the richness their "buttercream base", a few vegan options as well. Moreover, a chart on the wall documents in detail exactly what allergens and such are found in each flavor. It was a cold and not particularly ice cream-y day when I was there, but I figured I'm not in town much and I'd better take my shot. I split a flight, which I could never have finished on my own (and even with help we didn't quite, though that shouldn't be taken so much as a reflection on the quality of the cream as opposed to the satisfying meal we'd already eaten). The wide variety of flavors I sampled were rich and engaging. A classic peppermint bark offered just the right mix of sweet and cool, while the bourbon caramel exceeded what I expected of it in nuance. On and on they went, and I savored as much as I could stuff down. Having done so at the one bench that is inside at the front of the store, I was surprised to realize I hadn't actually paid them for this ice cream. I was subsequently told when I went up that they were in no hurry to push us as we weren't leaving yet, a downright neighborly approach. We did of course pay for our ice cream before we left, and I left thinking perhaps finally there is a unique and satisfying place to get ice cream in DC. read more
