I haven't been entirely satisfied with the ice cream shops of DC since my original favorite closed (Max's Best really was the best). Some places are underwhelming, but even though we do have some good ones, they tend not to be local and a lot of better places tend to be outside the city. So I was very intrigued when I saw this place open up on what must be one of the few streets in the entire District that I was completely unfamiliar with. They've got a wide variety of flavors, and while they tout the richness their "buttercream base", a few vegan options as well. Moreover, a chart on the wall documents in detail exactly what allergens and such are found in each flavor. It was a cold and not particularly ice cream-y day when I was there, but I figured I'm not in town much and I'd better take my shot. I split a flight, which I could never have finished on my own (and even with help we didn't quite, though that shouldn't be taken so much as a reflection on the quality of the cream as opposed to the satisfying meal we'd already eaten). The wide variety of flavors I sampled were rich and engaging. A classic peppermint bark offered just the right mix of sweet and cool, while the bourbon caramel exceeded what I expected of it in nuance. On and on they went, and I savored as much as I could stuff down. Having done so at the one bench that is inside at the front of the store, I was surprised to realize I hadn't actually paid them for this ice cream. I was subsequently told when I went up that they were in no hurry to push us as we weren't leaving yet, a downright neighborly approach. We did of course pay for our ice cream before we left, and I left thinking perhaps finally there is a unique and satisfying place to get ice cream in DC. read more

I wish I had taken pictures of my cone before I ate it but I was so excited by the flavors I chose! My friend and I visited Everyday Sundae about two weeks ago? At the time, they had Butter Pecan and the Cinnamon Swirl flavor and I chose those for my cone! Oh my god yall.... If you haven't been here yet, you're SLEEPIN! I didn't know this small hidden gem is Black-owned and local to the DC area. The owner was the one working and he was so kind and had a smile on his face even though he had half the store filled with people 5 minutes before close. I cannot wait to come back! It's also beautifully decorated with outdoor seating and stoles by the window front to sit by. It's a clean cut look with the menu of cone/scoop orders right by the start of the line. Tip: the flavors are written on top of the case, not on the windows so if you're a bit on the shorter side, get those toes ready! read more

Such an adorable little ice cream shop. There's a small amount of seating inside and out front, and a bunch of flavors to pick from. They have three types of cones and they make their waffle cones in house! And the service is unbelievably helpful and friendly. My only wish would be even more vegan/dairy free options--though their sorbets are really quite good. I recommend getting a swirl of the lemon and raspberry. So many flavors and all so good! I asked for something chocolatey, and the guy behind the counter wisely steered me to the cappuccino ice cream. It has a lovely coffee flavor with some sort of absolutely delicious chocolate fudge. It was exactly what I wanted. I also tried the birthday cake, which was also good but less different than the cappuccino. The waffle cone was great too - they clearly make them in-house since you can see the waffle presses behind the counter! They have some outdoor seating if you want to hang out and eat your ice cream, although it's probably only 10-ish seats. As my first time there, Charles, the owner, welcomed us personally to his establishment. He offered suggestions, friendliness, and patience. There were an ABUNDANCE of appealing flavors. After a few samples, I settled on a scoop of espresso crunch and a scoop of caramel brownie. Both were full of flavor and texture! I'll likely try a different pairing next time, just to gather the whole spectrum of flavor this wonderful store can offer. Just stopped in for the grand opening of this ice cream shop! Very impressed! The shop is bright, clean, and well organized. All of the staff, from the owners to the ice cream scooper to the young man running the cash register, are super friendly and inviting. There's a fantastic mix of ice cream flavors to choose from -- and there are even dairy-free sorbet options too! There is a big sign at the counter that lists every flavor and shows how it ranks against common allergens so you can easily tell what items have dairy, gluten, nuts, etc. -- which I think is a very smart and helpful thing to do! Prices are along the lines of what you'd expect for a specialty ice cream shop -- similar to a Ben & Jerry's or Coldstone Creamery. You can get your ice cream in a cup or regular cone, or upgrade to a handmade waffle cone for just $1 more. According to an article I read, the ice cream they sell comes from Hershey, PA -- which if you've ever had it there you know is aaaaaaamazing! The shop is a very welcome addition to the neighborhood. They even have a little sitting area in the vestibule which -- while empty of tables during the pandemic, no doubt -- will one day make a nice little area to relax in while enjoying a refreshing treat. They had a ton of unique ice cream flavors, and the owner was incredibly warm, welcoming, and full of jokes. Not only is the frozen treat at peak creaminess and flavor, but the individual flavors are creative and tastefully chosen. Chocolate hazelnut? Oatmeal cookie?
