Cafe X-press is an easy deli for a quick bite to eat. I stopped by Cafe X-press to grab a small breakfast, which was a bacon, egg, cheese sandwich and a cup of regular coffee. Overall, I thought my sandwich was fine. The deli has a nice variety of various breakfast and lunch sandwiches, so everyone should find something that they should like. The total for my meal was about $11 with tip, so I guess the prices were not too bad. Although the cafe is kind of small, it has a few tables so customers can consume their food on-site, but I think most folks grab their food and go. I thought the gentleman that took my order was pretty nice. He seemed pretty approachable because he knew quite a few customers by their first names. While I would not go out of my way to get a bite from Cafe X-press, I think it's a decent spot for folks who work and/or live within a few blocks of the deli. read more

Maybe I ordered the wrong thing. This sandwich that I purchased, was the absolute WORST Pastrami & Corned Beef I have EVER eaten. It's called "The Manhattan." It's a combo. No only was the meat sparse, but extremely unappealing. I'm from NYC. Maybe my expectations were too high. All I know, is that I will NEVER, step foot into this place again. I'd gone past the sign on the sidewalk many times over the past year and finally decided to walk over because I had a taste for a club sandwich for lunch. It's a little hidden and in the cut but there's plenty of signage so you can't miss it. They have outdoor seating as well as tables inside should you choose to dine in. Their menu items include burgers, cold & hot sandwiches, subs, wraps, soups, salads and smoothies. I enjoyed my super club sandwich and the quality of the ingredients and taste was not lacking. They also serve breakfast...I'll have to try something from the breakfast menu during my next visit. read more

Awesome deli for a quick, authentic morning breakfast. They're kind of tucked away in a corner and have a $5 credit card minimum but other than that, the prices are reasonable and the food is good quality. I've only tried their egg and cheese breakfast sandwich, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. They customize it to your preference and have many options for ingredients and choice of bread. read more

Walked into this cafe for a quick breakfast while waiting for my Walgreens photos to develop. It looks like a cafe that had a lot of regulars. There were construction workers hanging out at a table. There are a few tables inside and a couple outside. I had to the sausage egg and cheese breakfast sandwich on an English muffin - it was very good! My husband had a bagel with cream cheese, which was also solid. The guy had the counter was nice and efficient. Food came out quickly and price was pretty cheap. Don't sleep on this cafe. Great food. I've had breakfast sandwiches, lunch platter specials, and hot sandwiches. All are amazing, and very reasonably priced. The service is always fast, even when this little place gets packed for lunch. Only complaint is that the online ordering system they use is quirky. Hidden in an alley off of Georgia Avenue, this little deli is the perfect go-to for the working peeps of Silver Spring. Amazing breakfasts...I know all little deli's are known for great breakfasts but seriously, this one is the best. Get the bagel with salmon. I work in the Metropolitan Building where this deli is located and the owner is so friendly every time I go in whether I'm buying a breakfast sandwich or just some candy. I've tried the sausage breakfast sandwich, cold cuts and chicken tenders. Everything is made to order and always tastes good! The snack/drink prices are a little high but that's what you pay for convenience. When they aren't busy, they even bring your food upstairs for you. There's a Walgreens across the street but I'd rather support a small, family owned business! read more

What a great find a few months ago . I would not of been able to find this place if it wasn't for a quick Yelp search. They have a little sign with an arrow pointing to their location which is down a little ally way otherwise you would totally miss this place. I feel like Superwoman today! Why? Because I got my coconut water fix at Cafe X-Press. Did you know that one cup of coconut water contains more electrolytes than most sports drinks and more potassium than one banana? This explains my dunking abilities, X-ray vision and my ability to chew bubble gum and walk at the same time. Plus, the grilled salmon salad I got here was super fresh. The vegetables were so crispy, colorful and delicious. It was a very simple salad and definitely very light on the salmon, but accompanied with the creamy ginger dressing it was the perfect lunch on a gorgeous summer day. This cafe is technically on Georgia Avenue, but it's much more convenient to access on foot - it's actually in a little corner cove right off Georgia Avenue to it's virtually impossible to spot from the street. They offer plenty of breakfast and lunch options, hot and cold. The cafe is extremely small, so there is a bit of a claustrophobic feel to it. Grab your food to go, unless you want to sit at the one or two small tables on the sidewalk. read more

I was hungry after walking around Silver Spring downtown with my fiance, and we were looking around places to eat. It snowed a lot so many places were closed :( It's actually kind of hidden so couldn't see the place very well on Georgia Avenue, but I found "new management" sign that was near a parking lot. As soon as I saw "open" sign on I was so happy lol. We went in and decided to order something to fill my belly. I was so starving and ordered some soup and sandwiches. They were very delicious! Not sure if it was because I was very hungry, but I still consider myself a picky eater. My sandwich was really fresh and my soup was warm and creamyy. Even my fiance (who is a European) said deli meat here is delicious and fresh. Even though I don't live near Silver Spring, I want to stop by this cafe again when I visit my friends and family members here. :) Edit: First I posted on Cafe X-press yelp page and I realized that there is Cafe Xpress Number 5 which has the same address as Cafe X-press's...?? o.O They're registered as different businesses for some reason (and the same location).. This cafe is near my job. I've ordered breakfast sandwiches 3 times and each were wrong. 1st, had cheese and turkey bacon (ordered regular bacon and no cheese), 2nd ordered sandwich with jelly - no jelly. 3rd ordered on white toast with jelly - given wheat toast and jelly on the side that was old. Have "complained" each time and sandwiches were fixed HOWEVER, I had to purchase the new sandwiches. Not once was there an offer to give me a complimentary sandwich even after I told them I didn't eat the wrong sandwiches because THEY WERE WRONG! The owner always acts like he's upset when you come in unless of course you're a regular. The son is nice but it doesn't fix that I've paid in the excess of $4 for sandwiches that were wrong. I love this place! It is in walking distance from apartments, the subway, the court house and office buildings. They make great breakfast sammiches! Their coffee perks me right up! It has a hidden entrance, but you can park on the corner of cameron and georgia (where the bank is) and walk through the building. I will take Tara's advice and get my electrolytes on with that coconut water! read more

The bacon was incredibly greasy, as if they fried bacon just for the fat to fry my bacon in. The home fries and the buttered toast were the only edible part of "the Rancher" combo I bought. This place needs to understand what ventilation means. You can smell the kitchen all the way to the corner but the problem is that the entire Place smells like the kitchen and you will too if you go in. When I went I ordered and quickly stepped outside, I already smell like fried stuff in those two seconds. If you're heading home that's not a problem, but if you're going to work you going to smell like that all day. The portions they give for things like the breakfast platters are absolutely massive, and I cannot stress how delicious the *freshly cooked* meals are! I adore this place. I passed it several times a bit of hider as it lays on the side of the building. I finally went in, had their Cajun chicken with peppers onions on a toasted sub roll. It was so good. The chicken was juicy not sure if it's a patty or the cook it fresh(as in raw but frozen) it was so good doesn't matter. Made my man come back with me to try it. It was just delicious. I'm a once I like it I never go back type of eater. So most likely I won't try any other options unless their out of what I get. Otherwise I will so go back. read more
