We understand that Santucci's changed owners and it's not what it used to be, but since we have nothing to compare, we both liked our subs. Nothing beats an NE/NY/NJ sub shop, but this isn't too far off. The sub roll had a good texture and was well-filled. Subs were big. My eggplant parm sub was tasty and my partner enjoyed his order. I'd return when the craving hits.

We had the eggplant parm and the old bay fries. the eggplant parm was new for me and a little unseasoned but im sure delicious for your average vegetarian. the old fries were delicious but i wouldn't have minded a bit more old bay. love this place, another hometown staple.

A friend was "raving" about this place for years so I decided to stop by while driving thru Maryland tonight... I called to ask what should I get, he said the cheesesteak... I did Basically on a scale of 1-10 I give it a "4" there was hardly any meat on the sandwich and the steak that was on there wasn't the best of grades of meat The onions were "store bought" but still better than the sandwich The employees were very friendly and the place was clean, I probably will not be going back

Two stars is being generous.... I was back in Wheaton for the 1st time in awhile so stopped in to one of my fav places. I had no idea it was sold, but new ownership doesn't have a clue. They clearly put some money into fixing the inside, but clearly didn't follow directions on how to make quality subs. Philly chicken cheese steak was my absolutely go to, however the one I got today had so little chicken, it was not seasoned at all, wrong type of lettuce, lettuce wasn't even shredded it was chopped, lettuce and tomatoes weren't fresh (had dark yellow sections), ketchup had a funky taste... I threw out 1/2 the sub. Hope new owners can turn it around.

Santucci's is a local favorite for all your needs. And possibly the best steak and cheese in the city. Get it all the way with extra hot peppers. Parking in the back. Thank me later!

They keep putting mayo on a sandwich that I requested no mayo or oil. I hate mayo! I won't be using this place anymore.

I stupidly didn't read my own previous review. Disclaimer first: I have been to Italy several times, and am a big fan of Lidia and Mary Ann on PBS. Garlic toast was dry and tough, Texas toast rather than pan francese. The dipping sauce was decent, evoo and cheese with some seasoning. Salad was nice and fresh, with a variety of veggies. Chicken parm was the worst I've ever had, dry, tough, no crunch to the outside, no slice of prosciutto. I have had better frozen. After dousing it with table cheese and the remaining bread dip, I was able to choke it down. It was served on top of spaghetti. In real Italian cucina, pasts is a separate course. Cooked through, not al dente, Very simple tomato sauce. Very cordial service, and I did leave full enough to avoid temptation at Lidl. But that food wasn't even good italian-american much less real italian. Meh. Chin flick.

What an amazing lunch!…read more I'll start by saying I have been to Olazzo before, but today's lunch was special. I was introducing my girlfriend and my mom to each other. The host was so friendly and helped get us seated in a booth, and very shortly after seating we were greeted by our server Josh. Josh was very polite, and I felt good vibes before the food ever hit the table. He recommended their special, a trout on pasta dish. The entree had a very generous portion of fish, and our server made sure to drop off everything we needed to accompany our food, extra cheese, water refills, he was attentive and took great care of us. Next time I dine at Olazzo, I'm going to be looking for Josh!

Hostess, gentleman who seated us, and our server were wonderful. The food wasn't the best ever but it was good. We decided to give it a shot despite low customer ratings. We are Black Americans. When we walked in I picked up on a negative vibe but dismissed it. When you walk into a small establishment and it get's quiet or you get the looks turn and no one speaks turn around and leave. There were a few people at the bar chatting up staff (regulars). As we walked by the bar headed to the table I glanced over to the what clearly was the person in charge. I smiled no response. We eat, I head to the ladies restroom. I passed the same gentleman who, again looked directly at me, I smiled and he turned his head. I passed by him on the way back to the table. I specifically looked him the face and smiled. He looked at me and again turned his head blatantly. We are aware of prejudice so I didn't let him get under my skin. I smile and speak to anyone and am happy to do so whether it is reciprocated. It takes negative energy to be mean spirited. Willing to take our money but refuse to acknowledge us as paying customers. We spent quite a bit for two people. I will not recommend this place if it was the last Italian restaurant. To the owners- I could not tell if you were the person I encountered today or a manager. Either way- Just Wow.

Lately, though, it just doesn't feel quite the same. The pizza can still be good at times, but it's not as consistently impressive as it once was. We didn't have time for the places I sometimes like to eat at in the Row (sit down places that would have taken longer than 30 minutes), and we didn't want to eat at any of the chain places nearby either. Just when we were getting into one of those situations where every option gets shot down until you get desperate and end up somewhere you don't even like, we saw Vace's awning. It looked old school and like they might sell pizza by the slice inside, so we wandered in. Since visiting I've done a little research and now I know that Vace Italian Deli started in DC in 1976 and that it's still family-owned almost 50 years later. They offer 60+ items made in house (fresh deli sandwiches, homemade pasta, and freshly baked pizza) and have small store where you can get plenty of great Italian food items (their olive oils looked amazing and did their anchovies and other jarred items)! We got a couple of slices of pizza each (one cheese and one pepperoni for him, one spinach and one onion for me), which were really great. A great walking lunch, and exactly what we had time for. (I say a walking lunch, because Vace is to go only, there's no where to sit.) I really enjoyed our experience here, and I'm glad we wandered until we found it. A fun surprise in Bethesda.
