Here's a blast from the past I've grown up in this area and used to go to Continental when I was a kid well I circled back this weekend did it again and it hasn't changed a bit the square pizzas are awesome. They're tasty affordable and I was amazed how many freaking people walk into that place right off the street so they're killing it. The pizza is awesome and the ambience as well pretty mundane. From 1984 through 1994, I lived in Kensington MD and I ate at Continental Pizza at least once every week. I loved the pizza and the other food as well. It helped that it was Greek-owned and run. The Greek food on the menu was always a tasty reminder of my ancestry. Fast forward to today - I have not been to Continental Pizza in over 30 years! But I think of it fondly sometimes and I talk about it with some friends who also ate there back in the day. Well, yesterday I was in the area and I decided to go back to my little slice of heaven. I am so happy to report that it has not changed much!!! The food is still filling and delicious. We had sausage pizza and it was GREAT!!! Like the old days, it is shaped like a rectangle (for some reason, I love that)! The sausage was excellent! My spouse and I gobbled it up! This place is a classic! The servings are generous and come to you hot and ready to gobble down! The only frills in this place??? Good simple food, prepared beautifully! The service was so nice too. Everyone at the counter was really friendly. The customer service is another throwback to the old days. They were there to make sure we got what we wanted and to make our experience a good one. Is Continental Pizza fancy? Oh no and thank God! It is the kind of place to go when you want something to fill you up and you do NOT want to wonder if it will be tasty (because it will be)!!!! This is what we like to call a "casual joint" and it delivers every time! Continental Pizza deserves to still be open, still be busy and still be around. They know their lane and they fulfill it very very well!!! I came here one day since I pass this restaurant for some time. I tried their large tomato and cheese pizza with pepperoni. It came around $15 which was fair for a large pizza. Upon receiving the pizza, I noticed that it's not your typical round pizza. Instead, it's more rectangular. Similar style pizza to Ledos pizza. It was fairly small pizza if you are comparing to a typical large pizza. Also, the cheese was decent and pepperoni were cooked well. However, I felt the pizza was okay. Nothing too special. Well they say you can never go back home. I used to go here in the 70's, 80's and 90's. The cheesesteak was always the best! Today I barely saw the steak and it tasted more like a garden salad sandwhich. Barely a slice of cheese too. Very disappointing. read more

Always a great choice. I've moved away from the area several years ago and this upon returning for a week this was one of the first places I wanted to be sure I went back to try. So not disappointed! Still cash only, still just subs and pizza, still banging. And it seemed like many of the same staff was there. Love that loyalty. I went with a Large Steak & Cheese with everything and was able to share half with my wife, it's that big. We sometimes just get double meat when we're real hungry. Can't forget the fries! This place is a cute hole in the wall! They are a cash-only shop, but you can use your credit card if you order online. I ordered online and picked it up from the store. When I walked in, I was greeted with a smile from the lady behind the register. I ordered a chicken cheesesteak and seasoned fries. I have no idea what the fries are seasoned with, but they were so tasty! They pulled them right out of the fryer, so they were hot and fresh. My sub was good--not the best cheesesteak I've ever had. My brother and I stumbled upon Continental Pizza years ago and today, I finally introduced it to my wife while we were in the area. This place may not look like much from the outside, but don't let that fool you. Although I have yet to try their pizza, they make the best steak and cheese subs in town, possibly even in Maryland! I ordered a 16-inch sub to go and my wife and I ate it in the car. After halfway into our sub, we knew we had to get another one. The sub was not too greasy and the amount of steak and cheese was just right. The additional toppings of lettuce, tomatoes, grilled onions, mushrooms, and hot peppers really took the sub to the next level. I highly recommend making the drive to try these subs for yourself. Just keep in mind that they only accept cash, so be sure to stop by an ATM beforehand and pick up a few twenties (just in case you're sharing your first 16 inches with your wife and need to make a second order). After years of having Continental Pizza bookmarked, finally gave it a try. The pepperoni and Continental special pizzas lived up to the hype. The sauce was a tad sweet, toppings were generous, and the rectangular pizza was cooked well done. Between the two pieces, I enjoyed the Continental special (came topped with pepperoni, sausage, mushrooms, and onions) more. Based on other reviews, i thought the pizza would be oily; however, it surprisingly wasn't. Two larges (10x14) was more than enough for 2 adults and 2 small children, with leftovers for lunch (or breakfast) the next day. Prices were surprisingly cheap for good pizza. My order was ready when I arrived. The pizza was hot and smelled delicious. Parking wasn't bad, with a lot behind the restaurant. I could see how parking could get crazy during peak hours though as the lot isn't big. It's cash only. If you're like me and don't usually carry cash, you could stop by the 7-11 around the corner beforehand. read more

It's hard not to mess up fries but they sucked also and were literally covered in salt and what looked like some MSG laden spice. People there are friendly but I wasn't there to make friends. I must have driven past this place, thousands of times, over the last few decades. Always considered trying the food but always worried about getting Chef-Boy-are-dee crap pizza from the dumpy looking place. So, yesterday, when i was stuck in Covid-Life rush hour traffic, I looked over from the Safeway parking lot, fully expecting the place to be gone. What happened was, I didn't recognize the street signage facelift that replaced the old aging 60's style signage that was there for oh so long. Initially, my plan was to go to Jerry's at Four Corners, Silver Spring (only to find out that it's a GameStop now). But, thanks to all the 4-star average by 200+ Yelpers, I built the confidence to go ahead and go for it. However, I was still leery, due to all the recent 1 and 2 star reviews. I have a rule: When in Rome, Eat like the Romans. In this case, the place is called Continental PIZZA--clue, try the PIZZA first. I walked in, looking for, nix, INSPECTING for any red flags, before dropping my precious money. While the place may be a little outdated in décor, it's totally understandable. When you're busy making food for 5+ decades, since 1967, when do you have time to close the shop and remodel? And, if people are coming for the food, why spend money on aesthetics that only snobs would care? I looked over the menu -- and even though, i had a taste for a sub in mind (or tummy), they have listed "Continental Pizza" and thought "When in Rome...". The Continental is mushrooms, sausage, pepperoni and onions and large for $11.10 in 2021--my thoughts were, must not be a very large "large". I was told by the clerk that it would be 15 minutes, so I stepped outside so that other customers could come in (Covid-Life). When I picked up my pizza, I couldn't wait. I ate most of it outside in the cold. What I will tell you is, for $11.10, that pizza was a great bang for the buck. The ingredients tasted of high quality and the crust was not (or did not appear to be) the delivery service, Sysco or whoever makes dough, generic. I would not consider the crust to be thin nor thick. It was slightly crispy and a little crunchy yet a bit chewy with a heavier consistency which reminded me of fresh baked sourdough. The flavor was pleasant and subtle, not bland and not overwhelming--which allowed me to focus on the cheese, toppings, and sauce. Honestly, I did not make mental notes on the sauce but what I will tell you is everything came together like a symphony for me that all I could think of is pizza bliss. So, I ate this pizza hot, then i ate it cooled off, and finally, refrigerated cold. All high marks from me. I would give this place 4.5 stars if we had halfs but rounded up this time - due to value on performance -- a strong pizza at a bargain price. The large square pie would feed 2 adults in my estimation. i asked myself, is this the best pizza that I would travel out of the way for, probably no. How many places can I name in the area that I think the pizza is better....In Maryland, maybe 5-6. So Continental is on my Top 10 Maryland Pizza, just not at the top of this list. I used to work in the area near Continental, and it was a very frequent lunch spot. The pizza and the subs were always spot on. Over the years, if I was in the area, and had the cash, Continental was a must-have for lunch. It has been a couple of years since I was last there, but I went there with co-workers for lunch yesterday. Included in our order were two large, steak and cheese subs. I was very excited. The excitement didn't last long. Upon looking at the subs, after picking them up, we were both very disappointed. There were maybe two partial slices of very thin steak on each of our subs. That's considerably less than what their sandwiches used to contain. What I had could only be described as a "steak flavored, mayo, lettuce, and tomato" sub. The disappointment was multiplied by the $16 price tag for each of those subs. I'm sorry, Continental, but I can't do that again. The bread wasnt toasted. My mayo was a mess. Cheese wasnt evenly distributed. Causing me to eat very little and throwing it away. Only way Id return if my friend is driving and paying. Like a virgin, hey! My pastor and I have been plotting nearly four years to visit this place. He grew up in Kensington and The Continental is one of the haunts of his youth. I decided to pull an executive action by visiting on a busy Wednesday afternoon. I messaged my friend. It's interesting to witness covetousness from a man of God. Very, very jealous. I messaged him of my visit, my very first, and he insisted I try the cheesesteak. I did. In fact, I ordered the large. It was the usual: minute steaks on a bed on onions on the grille. I added lettuce, tomato and mayo. The sandwich was easily two meals. No heaps of meat but a very satisfying meal. A Diet Coke assuaged my guilt. Service very friendly and honest as in "Ready in 10 minutes." My friend, who is Greek, loves this place family owned by Greeks since 1967! OPA! . I'll be back with friend and sons in tow. I have patronized this restaurant several times. The food is good; prices proportionate to amount of food served; and food is ready quickly. However, there are two ways to order food for pick-up. First, you can order online via their website; however, it rarely works. You can call the order in but they you have to pay cash at pick-up; whereas you can pay via credit card online if it works. I feel that in today's day and age, every business should accept credit cards and not be afraid to receive a 1099. Payment methods should be consistent regardless of ordering method. read more

Over hyped. I love a lot of cheese on my pizza, but it was very bland and very sloppy. I had to load up on Parmesan, red pepper and oregano. I was surprised at how busy they were. Yes, I'm giving this Ledo-style pizza joint five stars; it is as good as all the hype you'll read in the numerous reviews posted here. First of all, this place is an institution in this corner of Montgomery County. It's been 15 years since I was here last and it is as good now as it was back then. At 6:15 on a Friday night the line was out the door to get food! Most people were doing carryout, and the smart ones called ahead. This place is tiny! The bakery next door closed and it would be great if they expanded, but many shops next door have come and gone and Continental never saw the need to expand. I guess they know better than me, because whatever they are doing is working for them. We snagged a table easily, since turnover is quick with people ordering pizza or subs. The pizza is one of the best if you like it greasy and cheesy. We didn't get the square; instead we got a small round (which is 8 pc) extra cheese and mushroom pizza, and boy, was it cheesy! I ordered a steak and cheese. The amount of steak in these subs is a joke. I use to come here when i was younger and this is not how i recall these subs. The pizza is really good from here . I hope that did not change. Will not be coming back for the Subs, not worth it and was super disappointed. This place has history in community please make sure not to get comfortable with your name because you will loose customers that way. In addition when i called to let them know the response was well it looks like this when you don't get mushrooms added. I am not sure how that correlated to the amount of meat in the sub. This place has a great reputation and many people feel the food is incredible. I've visited twice and had similar reactions both times. I was expecting the steak and cheese subs to have a bold flavor. A few sources say this is the place to get a great steak and cheese. I love this place so much. I have always enjoy my family memeber binging pizza from there but but today i had to make the trip myself. This is a small restaurent but it's extremely busy, while i was waiting for my order there was many people who came in to pick up their orders.
