Someone recommended this sub shop, I didn't actually go in , I pulled up while someone went inside. I got the Italian sub with lettuce, mayo , tomato and onions. I also wanted vinegar and oil. The person forgot to add the vinegar and oil when placing the order and it made a difference on my sandwich. The bread and meat was fresh it was decent I just couldn't get the hype probably because it didn't have the vinegar and oil s d it was too much mayonnaise on my sandwich. I do want to go back and order the sandwich myself.....to be continued.......

Tried Mangialardo for the first time on 3/31/26 as a recommendation from a friend ...ordered the G man on a soft roll (Ham, salami, mortadella, pepperoni, fontina cheese, provolone cheese, oregano) - it was absolutely delicious- just the right amount of seasoning, meat proportion & toppings. Service was quick and friendly....Sub was good for two meals . I will definitely return

Not a good experience at Mangialardo. While I do like a cold cut with with bread that absorbs the oil and vinegar, this one leaned on the soggy side and I do not know why because I didn't get much oil and vinegar taste. I was disappointed in the fact I ordered and paid for extra meat which I did not receive. I also received the some of the core of the lettuce which was hard and old. Overall, an experience which left me wanting more. I might give them another try if in the area.

It took me 39 years to try this place. You really have to pay attention to their hours. What i love is when you walk in you can smell the fresh rolls. They have soft rolls and hard. I opted for soft turkey sub. Nothing spicy, just plain. I absolutely loved how simple it was. I think i was most excited about how soft the bread was. It's a very basic sandwich but that's exactly what I was looking for. The sub was about 13 bucks and to me it was worth every penny. I personally would love this with jalapeño chips inside.

Mangialardo has some of the best subs in DC. This is a staple. I haven't been here since the pandemic. My go to sub is the turkey and cheese on a soft roll. And baby it's fire. The price for the subs is great and you get a lot for your money. The service is always top tier. You can go right in order and be out before you get ticketed for being double parked . I ran in yesterday because I had went to work late and wanted a sub sooo bad. Was afraid I wasn't going to be able to make it but I did. It's always been clean here. The art work and the badges of fire departments, police stations and more is nice too. Check them out if you haven't.

Gman G Man Sub no meat no peppers no onions clearly not what I ordered

Fast service! I ordered a Gman sub on soft roll which supposed to be the meatiest sub on the menu! I was not expecting old lettuce 3 pieces of deli meat 1 tomato on each half and no hot peppers or sweet peppers like I specifically ordered. $17 lunch never again back to subway I go

I had this place bookmarked for years and finally got a chance to try it today. Man, was I underwhelmed! I ordered "the big g" and it was just not good. The meat looked like it was purchased from the refrigerated cold cuts section from Safeway a la Oscar Meyers pre-sliced meats. The soft roll was awful as was the choice to include fontina cheese. Also, instead of shredded lettuce, there was just a huge piece of iceberg. This sandwich literally tasted like one I could make at home-- the je ne sais quoi that makes a good Italian sub as delicious as it is was absolutely missing. Let down!

This review is based on a delivery from DoorDash. If it's this good delivered I can't imagine how it is fresh in store. This sandwich was exactly what I wanted, and is truly an authentic Italian deli sub. The ingredients were fresh and the bread was 10/10. I search for bread like this in grocery stores and bakeries and it is never as satisfying. I didn't have a chance to interact with the staff since I ordered through a third party, but I would definitely order from here again. I can't wait to visit in person soon too!

Is there a park nearby with picnic tables or some other place where we could eat the subs? With Litteri's subs we take them to the Arboretum, but that's a haul from Mangialardo's. Thanks

Lincoln Park doesn't have picnic tables but does have benches and lots of grass to spread out a blanket

The beet salad was amazing although a little light on beets. The buffalo mozzarella on top was delicious and we spread it over the salad like a poached egg which had a nice contrast to the bitterness of the fresh arugula base. The pizza was our favorite dish. The crust was amazing and the fresh basil really put it over the top. The gnocchi pasta was great in itself), I would have liked something to cut the cheesy/pistachio sauce/flavor a bit. Maybe a touch of tomato sauce. The tiramisu was certainly made fresh in-house (as confirmed by the server) but we actually thought the pistachio gelato (also made in the house) was the better of the two desserts. The cheese tortellini grows on you; subtle woodsy flavors emerge in the sauce due to a light touch of mushrooms and artichokes. For desserts, their limoncello cake is fab. The coffee is average, and I wish it was more than that to complement the desserts. Service is friendly, lingering is encouraged. It's a relaxing environment, can unwind easily here. Unfortunately, my experience with reservations on-line has been terrible, that needs attention.

Now for dinner - we knew this spot was known for its appetizers so we started with the yellow tail crudi (ricciola), the focaccia with the side burrata, and the broccolini. Each appetizer complemented each other so well - the crudo was fresh with bright flavors, the bread was airy and light and was great with the small burrata, and the broccolini was the star of the show - spicy, charred, and exquisite.
