Tatte Bakery is a fantastic spot for breakfast, with great coffee, delicious food, and an impressive selection of fresh bakery items. We ordered the lamb hash, avocado toast, pistachio rose latte, and cappuccino. Everything was excellent, but the lamb hash was on another level--absolutely delicious, packed with flavor, and easily the highlight of the meal. The pistachio rose latte was also a lovely pairing, and both coffees were well made. Service was quick and efficient, which is impressive given how busy it gets in the mornings. The space is huge, bright, and bustling with people, creating a lively breakfast atmosphere. They also have a great selection of fresh pastries and baked goods if you're looking for something to grab on the go. Definitely a place I'd return to for that lamb hash alone! read more

I ordered the matcha latte and it was pretty solid. Smooth and not clumpy. The flavor was a bit mellow and wish it was a bit more flavorful. I like how it comes unsweetened though! There are three Tatte Bakeries in DC. This is a review for the branch on I St. Close to our hotel, Tatte was our go to place during our three-day visit. I had breakfast and lunch there twice each for a total of four meals. The locale looks like an old European coffee shop with back and white tiles and wooden fixtures. You order by the display cases then take a number to your table and a server hunts you down with your order. With the exception of one grumpy cashier, the staff was super helpful. The coffee was good, the food better. The breakfast muesli was excellent: muesli and fruit over super thick Greek-style yoghurt. Turkey avocado sandwich was very good. But the star was shakshuka with lamb meatballs. Wow! Very large portion arrives in a hot skillet together with three pieces of challah toast. Hard to imagine a better lunch. read more

There's not much outside seating, and so we just pounced on a few open spots when we found them indoors. - You order at a counter and then they give you a number. - Our food was really good. This place was so good! There was a lot of space to sit and the café itself was really cute inside. I came to this location for breakfast with a few friends. It was a very busy Saturday morning, but service was still good and our food came out in a decent amount of time. I usually opt for savory during breakfast, but I decided to try something sweet. I got the sweet French toast (because they have a savory option as well), and boy, was that the best decision! It had whipped goat cheese with raspberry preservatives, and sliced strawberries and almonds, topped on a brioche slice. I came in after a dr appointment for a pistachio latte and a turkey BLAT. Both were delicious and the sandwich was huge with fresh ingredients and soft bread. I was surprised by the sandwich price, about $13, because usually this would cost a lot more at other places. The sandwich, iced pistachio latte, and a San Pellegrino was about $25 total. For a chain, their menu is large, seasonal, and responsive to what's popular in cafes today so you can always try whats trending right now. I think their point of elevation is that they incorporate a global approach to their ingredient selection. There are a lot of specialty ingredients such as prosciutto, halva, halloumi, labneh, farro, and lamb; along with elevated twists on classic cafe foods like an avocado toast is labeled as an avocado tartine or a grilled cheese with braised short-rib. They have a standard menu and the food is prepped to order. Its a solid choice amongst other chain bakeries. I see that its a reliable spot for a lot of people, especially since a lot of Tatte locations are conveniently located in work hubs. Came in for an afternoon coffee with a friend and tried their iced ginger date latte. It was delicious - just the right amount of ginger and the date pieces were blended to give enough texture without getting it stuck in your teeth or making you choke. We ate at this Tatte Bakery by mistake. I was tired and tapped on this one on the map instead of the one near Farragut Square. We laughed and figured we could try a different location to see if they are the same or not. For the most part, they are the same quality food but the service is definitely different at this location. The staff we encountered were very nice and they were trying so hard to get things right. It wasn't just us that were getting our orders correct from the start, but it wasn't for a lack of effort. It only added a few minutes and a little patience went a long way towards getting it all sorted out. We ended up not getting our drinks and we were given an incorrect pastry. Once we had the right drinks and the correct pastry things were pretty good. My wife has fallen in love with the passion fruit krembo and I agree, it was really good. The breakfast sandwich was great and a nice change from pastries every morning. I really need it and it didn't disappoint. Modern place with wifi so many people were working here, surprised as it was loud with the cooking and talking but people worked well. Modern architecture with subway tiles all around and lights, vaulted ceilings and nice outdoor seating. It was too hot but if cooler I'd do it. Chicken pita was fresh with warm pita. Some chicken was chewey but dressing and veggies with freshly spread. Latte was something different, turmeric can remove other tastes but I wanted to try something new. While service was quick to my table I felt like the lady in the front was rude, anything I asked she nodded her heard yes. What a wonderland of sweet treats. It was so hard to decide what I wanted. The atmosphere in here is hectic but there's a rhyme to the reason. Every staff member is working hunny!! I wouldn't recommend this place to get work done or have a phone combo bc it's loud. I thought the house latte was good but when eating something sweet I wasn't able to fully taste the sweetness in the drink. So next time I will just get sweets or just get the iced latte. I recommend coming here during when college students are leaving for class. Most seats are taken. There are limited outlets. There was a line to order food. At least they bring your meal and coffee to you. The tables are small to eat and put multiple devices on there. It's really nosy in here. I wanted to get the turmeric and honey latte but they ran out of the syrup. I got the pistachio latte which is pretty creamy and you can definitely taste it in there. read more

Decided to meet a friend for breakfast my last morning in DC and I can say we made the right choice by coming to tatte. The bakery itself is well-designed, it puts you in the mind of a French bakery with lots of natural lighting and seating areas both indoors and outdoors. Most of the pastries in the case were French and I didn't know what many of them were, but they looked delicious and the descriptions on the card as well as the menu helped. You place your order at the display case of pastries then they bring your food out to you. I had the breakfast croissant and while it sounds basic, it was actually very delicious. every element of the sandwich was incredibly fresh. The house-made croissant made all the difference and I could've eaten it by itself. My friends had other sandwiches and pastries that I tried a couple bites of, all of them were equally as delicious. This location is conveniently located in the Foggy Bottom neighborhood of DC, which I was staying in so the walk was manageable. Tatte seems to be one of those hypes, and this location further confirms this. All locations serve the same menu of an all-day breakfast, soups, salads, quiche, shakshuka, sandwiches, plates, and bowls. We had a large group order from here, and it was a disaster. I ordered the Short Rib Grilled Cheese, which was described as one of their most popular items - I opted for the sourdough instead of the challah, and it was supposedly filled with braised short rib, aged cheddar, and a horseradish beet relish - the bread was dry, there was hardly any beef, the braised ribs were dried out and had no flavor, not sure where the cheese was, and it seemed to be mostly chopped up beets, as there was no hint of horseradish. The sandwich was poorly prepared with poor ingredients, and this was tossed after having the bite spat out. I also ordered a Cheese Boureka, and this was missing. My other counterparts were missing their sides, their pastries, and/or their breads/rolls that accompanied their entrees. How hard is it to just go through to ensure that all the items are included and accurate? How is this a bakery if the breads are not even right? It seems that these are continuous issues for this place, and they still have not addressed any of it. I've gotten Tatte's lattes before (the honey halva is a must-try) but this was my first time sitting down and eating. They also have a brunch menu on Saturday and Sundays. We ordered the shakshuka and shared it with 2. I wish there was more bread (only got 4 pieces). The egg was cooked perfectly runny and the cheese tasted good with the tomato. I also liked the peppers, and I don't usually like pepper. There is a lottt of tomato. I also really enjoyed the grilled cheese sandwich. I mainly tasted meat not the cheese, so I would recommend if you like that. It definitely wasn't nearly as filling as the shaksuka. Overall, would definitely come back to try some more stuff here! I think this Tatte location is on the newer side. It's very modern, very spacious and probably a spot where a lot of GW students would go to get some studying done since it's on the campus. A few of us stopped by a couple Sundays ago at around 8:30 AM for a quick coffee and pastry stop. Service was a bit slow for the drink (we waited about 20 minutes for 5 drinks). I got a raspberry tea cake (only like 2-3 small bites) for 3.50. Good texture and strong raspberry flavor, but it's small for the price. I also got their lemon, thyme, and espresso spritz for 5.50. I don't think I was the biggest fan of the spritz, but the syrups helped balance the overall drink. Probably would not get the spritz here again and go for a normal latte in the future. I went in for a drink for my ride home, and I'm really proud of myself for leaving with just drinks for my ride home. It was a toss up between the Pistachio Latte and Matcha Latte, and I got both lol. The Pistachio Latte was too sweet for me, but I enjoyed the flavor. I would order it again but with less sweetener.
