    Matcha latte
    Kristen S.

I ordered the matcha latte and it was pretty solid. Smooth and not clumpy. The flavor was a bit mellow and wish it was a bit more flavorful. I like how it comes unsweetened though! Matcha came out fast and the staff was friendly. There were many baked goods that looked delicious, so I'll definitely be back to try some of those.

There are three Tatte Bakeries in DC. This is a review for the branch on I St. Close to our hotel, Tatte was our go to place during our three-day visit. I had breakfast and lunch there twice each for a total of four meals. The locale looks like an old European coffee shop with back and white tiles and wooden fixtures. You order by the display cases then take a number to your table and a server hunts you down with your order. With the exception of one grumpy cashier, the staff was super helpful. The coffee was good, the food better. The breakfast muesli was excellent: muesli and fruit over super thick Greek-style yoghurt. Turkey avocado sandwich was very good. But the star was shakshuka with lamb meatballs. Wow! Very large portion arrives in a hot skillet together with three pieces of challah toast. Hard to imagine a better lunch.

Food was good as always. I enjoy my pear tart. My order was done in a efficient way. Smooth pick up for lunch. The ambiance was fine.

We were meeting a family member for lunch, who recommended Tatte. Overall, it really hit the spot. Here's what we noticed: - Meeting at noon on a weekday was a little crazy at this location. There's not much outside seating, and so we just pounced on a few open spots when we found them indoors. - You order at a counter and then they give you a number. - Our food was really good. My wife and I split both the Breakfast Croissant and the Smoked Salmon, Avocado, & Egg Sandwich. - You can serve yourself water at a central station. Bottom line: Great lunch place... Made better by the fact that you can get breakfast items all day!

Tatte had quickly become a sprawling gem in the DC area. Boasting 12 locations that are always busy. The menu and bakery items are extensive. The restaurant is a counter service mix where you order at the counter and they bring your food to you with a number system. The bakery items are delicious and include an array of croissants, muffins, cookies, cakes, and other treats. Hot breakfast items include sweet and savory items such as egg breakfasts, and French toast. They offer fresh brewed coffee, specialty hot drinks, and hot chocolate. There is plenty of seating and the option for Indoor or outdoor seating. The ambiance feels like a mix of a French bakery with black and white flooring and friendly staff. I would recommend Tatte as they have a variety of items to choose from.

This place was so good! There was a lot of space to sit and the café itself was really cute inside. I was amazed with the amount of options that they had from baked goods to sandwiches and their drinks. I went with a few of my friends, and we all got a different beverage and everyone really enjoyed theirs. I personally got the Matcha and I think it was really good. The staff was friendly and our service was pretty fast despite having such a long line! Overall, I'm really glad that I came here.

    French toast

I came to this location for breakfast with a few friends. It was a very busy Saturday morning, but service was still good and our food came out in a decent amount of time. I usually opt for savory during breakfast, but I decided to try something sweet. I got the sweet French toast (because they have a savory option as well), and boy, was that the best decision! It had whipped goat cheese with raspberry preservatives, and sliced strawberries and almonds, topped on a brioche slice. It was filling, and my friends all tried a piece and had raving reviews about it. I definitely recommend. For my drink, I ordered the hot ginger date oat milk latte, and that was extremely tasty. I'll love to next try it iced!

    Turkey BLAT
    Gloria M.

I came in after a dr appointment for a pistachio latte and a turkey BLAT. Both were delicious and the sandwich was huge with fresh ingredients and soft bread. I was surprised by the sandwich price, about $13, because usually this would cost a lot more at other places. The sandwich, iced pistachio latte, and a San Pellegrino was about $25 total. The cafe is big and stays busy. There is enough seating to accommodate and the noise level isn't too bad.

A lot of the Tattes in DC are new renovations coming out of the rapid expansion of cafes, so this is no exception. Its going to be that same look and feel in most cafes coming from this market trend. That said, its a clean and nice looking interior. The ceilings are notably high and it's spacious, so it rides that inbetween line of cafe and restaurant considering how sizable their menu is. For a chain, their menu is large, seasonal, and responsive to what's popular in cafes today so you can always try whats trending right now. I think their point of elevation is that they incorporate a global approach to their ingredient selection. There are a lot of specialty ingredients such as prosciutto, halva, halloumi, labneh, farro, and lamb; along with elevated twists on classic cafe foods like an avocado toast is labeled as an avocado tartine or a grilled cheese with braised short-rib. They have a standard menu and the food is prepped to order. Its a solid choice amongst other chain bakeries. I see that its a reliable spot for a lot of people, especially since a lot of Tatte locations are conveniently located in work hubs. Its not always my first choice, but for large parties who need a location to sit or for a quick bite, it will do.

    Passion fruit krembo

We ate at this Tatte Bakery by mistake. I was tired and tapped on this one on the map instead of the one near Farragut Square. We laughed and figured we could try a different location to see if they are the same or not. For the most part, they are the same quality food but the service is definitely different at this location. The staff we encountered were very nice and they were trying so hard to get things right. It wasn't just us that were getting our orders correct from the start, but it wasn't for a lack of effort. It only added a few minutes and a little patience went a long way towards getting it all sorted out. We ended up not getting our drinks and we were given an incorrect pastry. Once we had the right drinks and the correct pastry things were pretty good. My wife has fallen in love with the passion fruit krembo and I agree, it was really good. The breakfast sandwich was great and a nice change from pastries every morning. I really need it and it didn't disappoint. We really enjoyed our visit to this Tatte Bakery & Cafe and would happily come back.

Great breakfast cafe with unique menu items. Loved the bistro/cafe setting, lots of space throughout. Service was professional and friendly, food was ready in good time. Dishes were very good all around, and the coffee was fantastic. Very happy with the visit, will definitely visit again and try other locations!

    Iced Black Sesame Latte
    Sanjana R.

Loved the Iced Black Sesame Latte, it was my first time trying it. It was fairly crowded, and my order took a while to come out. Overall, the cafe is very beautiful, would love to try their food next time. Staff were polite as well!

    Lemon Poppyseed Loaf Cake Slice
    Victoria C.

The establishment boasts bright lighting and a cozy yet professional atmosphere, making it versatile for both relaxed visits and more formal engagements. Whether individuals are studying, interviewing, or simply enjoying their coffee at the bar, the setting accommodates all with ease. The ordering process, while slightly confusing at first--placing an order, receiving a table-placement card, and then having beverages and a cake slice delivered--ultimately functioned smoothly and appeared well-organized. The coffee was solid, and the lemon cake was genuinely delicious. I would gladly return, sit at the coffee bar, relax, and soak in the scene. Thank you.

Unfortunately, the location in DC has permanently closed and we were still very much in the mood for some pastries... my cousin who is French has previously sang the praises of this Lil French pastry shop, so of course I had to give it a try. I am so happy that I did because I truly believe that I have stumbled upon my new favorite pastry shop in the area! Upon walking in the smell of croissants and almonds and sweet, sweet delicacies filled my nostrils. I basically became the human version of Remy from ratatouille inhaling a delicious bouillabaisse simmering on the stove top for hours....seeing colors and flavors so bright and intoxicating I simply had to have it I walked in and my eyes were instantly attracted to so many delicious options from classics like Palmiers and Napoleons to some unique flavor combos I've never tried before combined like raspberry and pistachio. Of course, I decided to grab a little bit of everything to make an accurate assessment as a YELP Elite should!! My favorite hands-down was the Berry Millefuille. The way the pastry crumbled in my mouth with every bite, combined with the tart, fresh raspberries, and thick flavorful custard.... Was worth every penny. Honorable mentions go to the peach rosemary tart, which was so unique with the added botanical of rosemary with some fresh sweet peach slices on top and a very crunchy tart base. We all enjoyed everything we purchased! I also ordered one of their seasonal specialties, the rosemary latte with skim milk and iced. The flavors were so uniquely crafted to where you could taste everything but everything combined together for the perfect sip. The ladies who greeted us at the cash register were so patient, so kind, and so understanding of my excitement and difficulty deciding and they even helped me add on a little chocolate happy birthday rectangle to the pastry I purchased for my husband! Without a doubt, this is only the first of the many times I will visit the establishment. It was so authentic, so delicious and passed all the vibe checks even from the French side of the family. I was told I have to return when they first open to have a fresh croissant and a fresh baguette that is on par with what you would have in Paris. Even the items in the fridge were made in France and were delicious fruit nectars that were very unique- we purchased a passionfruit nectar that didn't even make it past the doors before we had completely inhaled it and purchased a lychee nectar for later. I am so excited to have learned about this establishment and believe me when I say you must run, not walk, to experience it for yourself. Note- The dine in area inside the establishment is limited to a couple small tables. Definitely not equipped for large parties and a couple outdoor seatings right outside.

We snagged seating indoors and soaked in the laid back European vibes. We had our delicious coffees - mercifully served in proper ceramic cups and some sweet treats. Would definitely be back - perhaps in the morning because I hear that the croissants are supposed to be on point!

But maybe that's better for them too. You can order to-go at the window and/or request a spot in the limited spaced dining/bar area. I've only gotten the Sub Club the few times I've gone here but what can I say? its a fail proof staple that is hard to get wrong and that they do very right. I often pair it with one of their drinks, this time being the spicy ginger ale which was solid as well. There's really not much place to dine-in if you're trying to dine and go - I recommend only using the dining area if you're solo, a couple, or part of a small group (at MOST maybe - a hard maybe - on 4 people) and only if you want to use the bar. One couple tried to squeeze in a baby stroller into the bar/dining area. Its really not suitable for things like suitcases or strollers so if you're in that camp maybe try some other spots because that also made a tiny space all the more difficult to navigate. Also, if you have a mobility device, this might not be the best spot for you either. I've never used their restrooms before so can't comment on that one. I still will say it is good for when you want to grab and go - so if you're in that category, and you like moderately priced sandwiches (for this part of town) this might work for you.
