After a quick visit to DC, this was one of the few places open early on a Friday morning for breakfast. The place was empty, though there were a couple of takeout orders while I was there. This seems to be a family-owned shop with a good variety of breakfast and lunch sandwiches (which can also be ordered during breakfast hours). Since it was early, I went for the Downtown Breakfast and chose bacon (instead of sausage) on sourdough. Everything is freshly made and they use real eggs (made your way) and fresh bacon. While the sandwich was good, I'm giving Bread Me Cafe 3 stars because the coffee was super weak and they use really cheap lids, so I ended up spilling hot coffee on myself and so did two other people with me. Plastic cutlery was also super flimsy and we had forks break while trying to cut breakfast items. read more

I went with Chicken Pesto Panini on ciabatta and milk tea with no bubbles (they ran out..). Inside: Teriyaki chicken, basil pesto, mayo, provolone cheese, red onion, roasted pepper Didn't get the cookie, but sure looked scrumptious! Staff are welcoming and nice. Inside the cafe has some seatings. We lucked out with a large table to accommodate the 6 of us. Could be a smidge cleaner. Overall, I liked it. Good flavor, def a sandwich you would want to eat warm. This place is clean and air conditioned. It has many seatings. I came here because it was raining. I got the Boba and it was honestly really sweet. I don't know how many size they sell but it's really huge $8.25 which is the most expensive boba I ever had in my life. I had to try the sandwich they look pretty good. Everything was simply perfect! First of all I reached out to Bread Me Cafe to ask if they had bagels & they replied. They do have bagels . . . REAL bagels from NY. The Cafe is spacious & bright. They have a wide variety of bagels & spreads. Their menu is also fairly wide with hot & cold sandwiches & they're open until 4:00. Bread Me Cafe is well staffed so the service is speedy/friendly. Was staying in a nearby hotel but wanted a more bakery style local breakfast. This was not it. $22 for a croissant, cup of coffee, and a "veggie scramble" which came out in a paper cup and seemed to have been microwaved. There was no flatware included so had to hunt it down elsewhere in the store. No butter, jam,etc. served with the croissant. Coffee was bottom of the pot. The store has a general untidy appearance and many of the tables hadn't been wiped. Should have gone to Starbucks. read more

Bread Me is such a perfect hidden gem for sandwiches and refreshing bubble tea! The people working there were so friendly and helpful- bearing with my questions and requests. I ordered the chicken pesto on ciabatta and fell in love on the first bite. Think perfectly toasted bread, chicken layered with pesto and roasted veggies! The serving was generous and came out so fast. I also tried the lychee rose tea, which the cashier kindly modified to lower sugar. The major issue is undermanned service, and sometimes you are waiting over 10 minutes to place your order because the person who should be taking your order is preparing other stuff ordered earlier. Overpriced drinks. Decent sandwiches. Baked goods don't have the right ingredient balance and have a chalky texture--avoid. A friend told me the smoothies are good, but I haven't partaken. Found this place on accident while getting lost my first day in DC. So glad I did! The vide is laid back and the people behind the counter were so kind. I ordered a breakfast sandwich which was so simple but so delicious. Their croffle was delicious - there was plenty of cream and the berries added some nice sweetness. Also grab a boba. This has become my favorite place. I live right nearby and I've hit up the cafe at least once a week. The staff are super friendly and easy-going, giving such great neighborhood gem vibes. Everything I've tried on the menu so far has been super tasty, including the PB&J bagel pictured, the breakfast sandwich, turkey cranberry sandwich, and chicken pesto panini. They've only been open for a few weeks with a soft opening menu, and even still, there's variety and tasty options for everyone. I'm also thrilled to have such a great coffee shop nearby; their iced lattes are to die for. And of course, the bubble tea is incredibly good, and under $7 so a great price. Ordered Lavender latte 2 days in a row, first time the lavender was hardly noticeable so on day two I spoke with the staff about adding additional flavoring which lead me to a very lovely convo with the owner whose interest was piqued to trouble shoot my experience as their lavender is typically a punch-ier essence that, if anything, people will request less of. He took the time to build the drink with me and found an issue with the current pump that wasn't dispensing correctly. We went with the normal quantities as it seemed that would be the best place to start and without a doubt the drink was perfect! This is the kind of simple and effective care so many businesses are missing these days to trouble shoot customer feedback. It could have been me with a sweet quick or undiagnosed COVID with weak senses but the owner discovered a pump malfunction that was affecting every customer. He also shared another anecdotal story of a customer sharing a similar experience with a different drink that came out to have a manufacturer issue that was also affecting every customer. My ability to trust the establishment skyrocketed with the owners simple act of caring. We also ordered a hash brown bacon scramble that had an incredible salsa on top. We will be returning any time we can to support Bread Me Cafe! The gentleman who takes orders is also VERY kind and caring and a pleasant to order from! Bread Me Cafe is one of my favorite go-to cafes! The staffs are so nice, and the atmosphere is cozy and cool. I tried Bulgogi Panini with Grape Fruit Ade. The bread was nice and crunchy, the Bulgogi had a good balance of sweet/savory, the portion was generous for the price, and the Ade was so refreshing!! Oh, and I had Croffle for dessert. The Croffle was incredibly delicious, crisp on the outside and fluffy on the inside, with a crackly and caramelized top layer. I want to come back to explore other various options such as baked goods, coffee, bubble teas, mochi, etc. Strongly recommend Bread Me Cafe if you are around that area! read more

Unfortunately my experience here was quite bad. Me and two friends came here for a quick lunch during a convention we were at. We chose a cafe so we could grab something quick and get back to the convention, but unfortunately we were stuck there for about an hour. The person running the cash register took mobile orders for about 20 minutes while we were just waiting in an unmoving line. And when our order was finally taken, I tried ordering a bulgogi panini and then a roast beef panini but they were out of both, so I settled for turkey. Then I ordered a boba milk tea, only to be informed that they were also out of boba. I was a bit frustrated at this point, but was not angry until about 40 more minutes had passed and we were still sitting there waiting for our orders. Even though there were many orders, there were 4 people working so I honestly have no idea what could have taken so long. In addition, I was charged extra for sourdough, even though I was not informed that it was an upcharge. And then, 15 minutes after I ordered, they said they were out of sourdough too! So I was upcharged without even getting the bread I ordered. All in all, I was very disappointed and felt that the staff working was not apologetic or in a hurry at all with all of the waiting and complications. Would not recommend. read more
