Solid boba place in a cute little shop. I'm used to the Bay Area, where there's a boba place on every corner, but it's hard to find a good spot in DC. I've been here a few times, and I've enjoyed it!! The boba pearls are a really nice texture, and add a nice sweetness to the drink!! I'm usually picky with boba, so I am impressed! I've gotten their Jasmine Milk Tea and Thai Tea, both which are good but I recommend getting it 75% sweetness, especially if you're getting boba with the drinks. The banh mi is delicious and you get a good amount for the price. I got the grilled pork banh mi with everything (including pâté!) and it was really well balanced and tasty. Near the Metro, this place brings tea to a busy neighborhood. They also offer a small selection of buns, including a vegetarian one. I got a fruit tea with a single topping, and it delivered robust flavors and an enormous amount of jellies which were spread throughout by some vigorous shaking before I received it. This is a cute little bubble tea shop. There was parking off the street right outside when we picked up, conveniently as it's a side street off the main street. The door bell was so loud I had to cover my ears - be warned! We got a milk tea with tapioca pearls and salted cheese foam as well as a coffee with salted cheese foam. Both tasted decent. DC Boba is my favorite boba spot in DC! I lived in the Sacramento/Davis area the last 8 years, where there's a boba spot on every corner. So coming to DC I struggled to find a good boba spot. I usually get the jasmine milk tea with boba here, which I recommend if you like jasmine tea. Don't miss out on their Banh Mi sandwiches either. I always get the vegetarian one, and it's delicious! Enjoyed my first experience at DC Boba! Super close to my house, so I expect I'll be a frequent visitor. I tried the Dirty Brown Sugar milk tea with boba and it was very tasty! A good level of sweet without being too overwhelming. My friend got a green tea red bean smoothie and it was also quite tasty. The portion sizes are large and the definitely don't skimp on the boba. The pearls have a nice bite to them (can we say that boba is al dente??) and were quite pleasant. The interior of the space is very sparse -- this is clearly more of a take-and-go establishment versus somewhere you'd want to post up for a while. They have a very large menu -- smoothies, fruit teas, milk teas, Vietnamese coffee, hot tea, and a lot more. They also have a limited selection of snacks: when I was there, the choices were chicken or mungbean bao bun, or a pizza pastry type thing that reminded me of khachapuri. I also saw on their photo slideshow that they do a Dole Whip treat, so you can bet I'll be back to see how it compares to the Disney version! read more

Loving boba, my five-year-old daughter and I stopped in after shopping at nearby Target. After visiting most boba spots in the city, I left disappointed. Here's why: 1) Quality: I ordered the classic boba and it was okay. The server didn't ask how sweet I wanted it despite the menu advertising that you can choose. The result was a too sweet boba that was tough to finish. My daughter didn't love her Oreo milkshake. I loved the inside of the shop, very cute designs and fun stickers, but 8 dollars for boba that wasn't even mixed properly is crazy. I ended up having to throw my Dirty brown milk tea away because it wast mixed properly and I just tbh couldn't take it anymore. With every sip I took I was getting like 90% syrup. This is one of the only boba places in the Columbia heights so I'm actually really disappointed. Also $8 for this is a scam. Service was good though! I mean the bao buns looked pretty good. I was very much not a fan of the Tamarind tea drink. I stopped by this place because its really the only boba place in Columbia Heights along with my friends as we were on our way to dinner. The place itself is very small and cannot accommodate many people. I also thought the drinks were pretty expensive, but that's usually how it goes for most boba places nowadays, but I just didn't like my drink. It wasn't one of the most popular drinks though, so I might go back to try drinks that they are used to making and see if my opinion changes, but for now - 3 stars. read more

DC Boba opened up in the Columbia Heights neighborhood, and offers milk tea, fruit tea, honey hot tea, milkshakes, smoothies, coffee, and even Vietnamese sandwiches and baos. Being the area for work, I was pleasantly surprised that DC Boba popped up so I can get some beverages to go. I ordered from their Signature Milk Tea menu - a Dirty Brown Milk Tea and a Purple Yammy Milky - the drinks are made-to-order, and it does take some time. Honestly, the drinks were pretty underwhelming; the Dirty Brown Milk Tea seemed to be the house's version of a brown sugar milk tea, but it was just overly sweet; the Purple Yammy Milky, which I was pretty excited about, was slightly better. There were generous dabs of the purple yam paste, and it doesn't really dissolve well, even with mixing. Both drinks had an off taste to them, like a milk substitute or another milk alternative was used. The place is small with some limited counter seating, but it seems as if patrons get their items to go. I really liked the boba mural on the wall! Staff was super kind and welcoming! Parking is definitely a pain in the area, as there's limited metered street parking. I Doordashed DC Boba during my last month of surgery recovery. I'd say that the items we ordered were pretty good! I got a Mango Milk Tea, 2 large pork bao bun, 2 chicken bao buns, a char siu bao bun, and a shredded chicken banh mi. I thought that the banh mi was very flavorful, as were the fillings in the buns. The buns themselves could have had more filling tho -- I'd say the ration of bun to filling was a bit off. My milk tea was also delicious, but I think in the future I have to remember to make my sweetness order at 0%, since the boba adds a lot of sweetness to the tea. I would definitely try other things here! read more

I stopped by DC to grab some Mofongo (Dominican food) across the street & notice this place sales Bánh mi sandwiches, so I went and place my order for BBQ type. I was nervous since it's my first time so I always end up ordering something I probably won't like completely. With that in mind, I don't like BBQ and I feel like that's why I didn't like it completely, everything else in the sandwich was delicious. In Spanish we have a phrase for when a pepper is too spicy, we say "Este chile está bien perro" which translates to 'This pepper is a b...' My lips were fighting for their life, LMAO I'm gonna try a veggie only type & the chicken one in my next visits. Also, they had a deal of buy a sandwich and you get a free Ginseng which I gave to my mom and my sis loved it! She's a really, really picky one so I'm taking her there for sure! In addition to that, I order a Wintermelon Milktea w/bobaloved it!!! What can go wrong with Wintermelon? I like the consistency of the boba, not too hard, not to chewy, just right! Solid bubble tea. Won't blow you away, but is pretty good. Got the taro milk tea and the combination banh mi (#1) Taro milk tea had good taro flavor. Boba was decently soft and not too chewy. Banh Mi was very large for the price ($6.50)! Was about a foot long. Baguette comes un-toasted and the meats come around room temp. Flavor wise, the pork belly was tender but pate flavor was pretty strong. I would have liked the pork belly to be warmer, but I did have it 20 min after purchasing, so that could have been it. The space itself was small but cute. Some folding chairs on the side for waiting and one high counter along the window with high chairs. I have been on a quest to find more bubble places in DC and this place has been one of my favorites thus far. This is a cute shop located in Columbia Heights. The photos of their drinks in the store elevate their boba and made me want to try all of their flavors. They have a range of options there from alcohol-free mojitos to egg sea salt coffee to milkshakes to smoothies to classic bubble tea which is a nice and diverse selection. Additionally, there are a lot of fun toppings like lychee popping bubbles. I decided to get the honeydew smoothie with peach popping bubbles and the char siu bun. The honeydew smoothie was refreshing and was better than the honeydew smoothies I had when I lived in NYC Chinatown. It was not too sweet and the texture was smooth enough that I didn't have to suffer to get it down my throat. The peach popping bubbles were bursts of flavors that made every single sip fun also. I am just upset that I couldn't get more drinks to try. As someone who loves char siu, the bun itself was a bit disappointing as there was too much dough to meat ratio, the bun was given cold, and the meat was a little tough. The bbq sauce was good and had a nice slight kick to it. However, given the lack of char siu in the city, I would consider getting that again. Ultimately DC Boba is a fun quick stop to get some bubble tea with friends when traversing the Columbia Heights area. I don't think there is a wrong option from their drink options and you will be pleased with whatever you end up choosing. read more

I love DC Boba! It's so nice to have a boba place in the neighborhood. One thing that I think is really slept on though are their banh mi and pork buns. As a Vietnamese person, I've been wanting a banh mi place top open up in the neighborhood. The pho restaurants have them, but their opens are limited and I feel like DC Boba's sandwiches are so much better. I also love the pork buns because I haven't found any like these that remind me of home--I grew up eating similar ones for breakfast. I got the lemon grass grilled pork Vietnamese sandwich and the cheesy green Thai iced milk tea. I was not a fan of the meat. It wasn't grilled but in a weird wet sauce. The drink was crazy sweet. I asked for 75% sweeten but it needed to be like 10%. They should rename it the Diabetes Milk tea. Not sure if there other drinks are this sweet. read more

You have to pay extra for boba tapioca balls however that's no problem because they give you a whole bunch! Stopped by to get our boba fix after a huge meal. I decided to the the Vietnamese coffee, it was disappointing, and I am used to having very strong cup of coffee with condensed milk. But when it came out I barely tasted the coffee. It wasn't what I expected to taste and look like. The staff where very nice but for $8 it's kind of pricey for the quality of product.
