Lamb gyro

This place is perfect for lunch and breakfast. Right around the corner from my job. It gets busy but they handle orders very quickly. They have indoor seating as well as outdoor seating. I ordered the lamb gyro and some spicy chips. Great chip and drink selections. Everything you need for a quick lunch!

Loves to cook!

Wonderful experience! Great ingredients. Great flavor! They love what they do! Great way to start the day.

Been here a couple times now and had good experiences. First time was when we got caught in the lunch rush but service was still very quick and efficient. I ordered one of their Turkey based sandwiches which was delicious and filling. They have several options on the menu and allow customizations or dietary accommodations. Recently we stopped here for breakfast and got an egg and cheese sandwich on an everything bagel. Not much seasoning on the egg which made it pretty bland but it was probably one of the cheapest egg and cheese bagels you'll find in DC. It gives off nice local cafe vibes and it's also partially a convenience store for quick snacks and drinks. If you need a quick meal or looking to support a small business this is the place to go!

Cashier guy may not always be the friendliest but I mean you can get a solid sandwich from here and pretty solid pricing. Cute indoor and outdoor seating and also is a small store with snacks and bakery options.

Wrapped up my trip in DC with a visit to Uptowner Cafe. Yummy turkey sandwich, reasonably priced, and friendly service!

Convenient. yummy sandwiches, and friendly service. Will visit again when I'm in DC.

Convenient little deli in the West End. The prices are reasonable for this part of town for a quick and tasty breakfast and lunch. Love the fact they carry refrigerated Just Ice Peach Oolong tea. The cashiers are helpful too!

Amazing how difficult it is to find breakfast before 7am in Washington DC. I guess politicians are not early risers! Regardless, found this place on GrubHub. Never ordered delivery via any service before, but seeing as how my hotel only had a muffin and a moldy orange, I didn't have much of a choice. Ordered the veggie omelette. Came with wheat toast and hashbrowns. The omelette was good, but a bit small. Used to 3 egg omelettes in the heart land, but it will suffice. The hashbrown was like McDonald's, fried but not as crispy. The toast was lightly toasted. I also ordered a hazlenut coffee, just for the fun of it. Adequate. Not great, not bad. Surprisingly warm after a 30 minute drive across town. Not sure what that was all about, but I can't hold that against the store.

Hands down the BEST bacon egg and cheese breakfast sandwich I've had in DC for the past 15 years. It's the bread ( and the butter)

There's something about Washington, D.C. at night -- the air feels thoughtful, almost intentional. The circle was alive but calm, and the simple act of walking without rushing felt like a quiet luxury. The dessert? Perfect. The breeze? Even better. This time we had our baby and I wasn't impressed with the lack of sides or anything to get for her. We asked for two eggs scrambled with cheese but were told we'd have to buy an egg prosciutto sandwich for $11 and tell them we didn't want any of the items. Um, no. The tuna sandwich asked for lettuce and told can't add lettuce. My husband asked for something not on his lamb pita, same story. Oh well. No customization at all, no subs. Makes business easier, but not as attractive for price point for customers. I'll remember to keep it to coffee and pastries from now on. Chicken pita was good, a bit heavy on the parsley but loved the dressing. Tuna sandwich was a hit. Pastries are always good. My pistachio latte was chewy bc it had grainy bits of pistachio in it. Not to my liking. $70 for three sandwiches, two coffees and two cookies.

What keeps me coming back time and time again are their double-fried tostones. The texture and flavor is absolutely insane, and the sauce it comes with is to die for. The staff seemed a bit overburdened trying to keep up with orders and get everything out in time. That said, the young man and woman who prepared my order were kind and very focused on doing their best. I definitely plan to return and give them another try under less hectic conditions. This location is an entire vibe. It's tucked down a painted alley that leads you to a side entrance, which I actually preferred over the front. Parking is what it is at the Wharf, but I recommend parking near the museum and walking over. Once inside, you're met with gorgeous decor and a thoughtfully designed space that feels like a Spanish-style bar set in nature. The tile, the color palette, and the food and drink options all come together beautifully. I ordered the Carrot Cake Con Leche, which came out to about $8 after tax. It was tasty and a great treat after my morning run. It did take about 15 to 20 minutes to receive my order, but given how busy it was, that felt understandable. I'm looking forward to returning and experiencing it at a calmer time.

The service was friendly and quick. The space itself was very clean and simple. It seemed to be a study spot for college students so it was a bit hard to grab a place to sit for a few minutes until somebody left. Definitely worth stopping in, grabbing your coffee, and walking to the waterfront on a quiet morning. That's not exactly how we did it, but I think that's a plan for the next time we return to DC.

Service was great - super friendly and appreciated learning more details on their offerings (ie: the banana Foster's has real banana in it and it is more spice forward than banana - a win in my book). Also learned that they offer classes there! Love that they have I house roasting that you can also see. Ordered the Banana Foster's Iced Latte - however, it wasn't over ice? It was lukewarm. I think if it was over ice it would have been better. We found that strange and that is what knocked it down to 4 stars. The spice level was exactly what I expected based on what was shared upon ordering.

Famous Chef Thomas Reviews: Dolcezza (Washington, DC)…read more The Famous Chef Thomas visited Dolcezza in Washington, DC, expecting a proper café experience, especially at the prices being charged. When a place is asking $4 to $7 for tea or a latte, there is an obligation to deliver something above the level of a bargain counter operation. Instead, the Famous Chef Thomas was handed a tea cup with the tea bag resting on top, wasting valuable brewing time and shifting the work onto the customer like some cheap do-it-yourself setup. That may be understandable at McDonald's for $1.79, but at Dolcezza it is unacceptable. At these prices, the worker should have already put the tea bag in the cup, added the honey, and served a finished product with care. Do not charge premium café prices and then behave like preparation is somehow the customer's responsibility. And to casually tell the customer that the honey is over at the stand only adds insult to laziness. Hospitality is not pointing. Hospitality is serving. What makes it worse is that this place has clearly declined from where it was when it first opened years ago. The standards are slipping, and it shows in more than one way. The table was dirty, and because this visit was early in the morning, that dirt had to be left over from the previous day. That is not a small oversight. That is evidence of poor closeout, poor maintenance, and weak attention to detail. Then came the final insult: too many bugs. The Famous Chef Thomas had to kill them or dodge them just to sit there, which made it impossible to enjoy the experience without feeling like he was in a battle against being bitten. A café cannot expect customers to relax, sip tea, and enjoy themselves while swatting pests away from the table. Dolcezza is charging as if it still deserves a premium reputation, but the service, cleanliness, and overall execution no longer support it. Premium prices require premium standards. The Famous Chef Thomas did not receive them here. The verdict: lazy service, dirty conditions, bugs, and a café experience that has fallen far below its old standard. The Famous Chef Thomas is not impressed
