I honestly don't know where to start other than saying the baristas need to slow down, relax, and treat customers with respect. As someone who works in the industry and is very familiar with coffee and coffee shops, I was genuinely shocked by how rude and unprofessional the staff was. I ordered a house latte with an extra double shot, which made it a quad shot, and I also paid for extra ice and requested that it be served in a large cup. It wasn't a complicated order. When I saw a drink come up, I politely asked, "Is that mine by any chance?" The barista immediately told me to "hush" and said, "I'm not talking to you." I found that incredibly disrespectful and completely unacceptable. When my drink was finally handed to me, I simply asked if the quad shot had been added since I had paid extra for it. Instead of answering my question, the barista ignored me entirely, and another employee had to respond. The employee, Taleisha Young, who was wearing glasses, was especially rude throughout the interaction. No customer should be spoken to that way, especially when they're simply asking about an order they paid extra to customize. Customer service and professionalism should be a priority, and this experience fell far below that standard. Unfortunately, I will not be returning, and I will be sharing my experience on other review platforms as well. I hope management addresses the behavior of its staff so other customers don't have a similar experience. read more

Stopped by Tatte during my trip to DC for an afternoon matcha, and I totally get why this place is so popular. The cafe itself is huge, absolutely beautiful, and was packed when I visited. They have both indoor and outdoor seating, so it's a great spot whether you're meeting friends or getting some work done. The pastry case also looked incredible, I had such a hard time choosing, and I'll definitely be back to try more. I ordered a matcha, and I really appreciated that it wasn't pre-sweetened. It was creamy, earthy, and let the matcha shine. If you like your matcha a little sweeter, I'd recommend adding their in-house pistachio syrup. The only small downside was that it seemed like they use matcha concentrate that's prepared in advance rather than whisking each drink fresh. It was still good, but I do prefer freshly whisked matcha. Even with that, I'd absolutely come back. Their menu is extensive, everything coming out of the kitchen looked delicious, and the whole space has such a welcoming vibe. Also, take a minute to read the story behind the name "Tatte." Stopped by during a trip to DC. This is a super popular bakery Café. There was a line but I stuck with it as the tables outside were quite full and I figured this must be a good spot. I started out grabbing some overnight oats from their ready-made case trying to do the right thing but then I caught a look at the treats in the case and put the oats back in favor of a sky high treat with vanilla buttercream, pie crust shell and a lime filling. It was really delicious. It was about $10 which was a little expensive but this is DC. I will stop in here again and enjoy something on the outside patio. read more

Visiting DC for the weekend, found this spot on yelp! So many delicious baked goods and coffee options! The pistachio latte was creamy, slightly sweet with small pieces of pistachio in each sip! Delicious! The pistachio croissant was a nice addition if you just can't get enough of pistachio! :-) The cinnamon roll was crispy with a soft center, slightly sweet with the spice of cinnamon. Definitely worth a visit for a quick coffee and baked treat! Egg dishes and sandwiches also looked delicious if you prefer a savory start to the day. Stumbled across this place because it was not far from my hotel and I'm so happy I found it! Really cute cafe, beautiful space, and lots of seating. A great spot for just coffee and a pastry (all of which looked delicious, but I didn't have any on this visit - good reason to come back!) but also for a full meal. I had the traditional shakshuka, which is one of my favorite meals. I consider myself a bit of a "shakshuka connoisseur" and this one did not disappoint. First, the presentation was perfect. Served in a big skillet on a wooden board, topped with parsley, and with three really large slices of a fluffy toasted bread. Absolutely gorgeous. Taste-wise it was perfect. The little bit of cheese was a great twist to my usual shakshukas, and the rest was cooked perfectly, with the eggs properly done IMO. I also had a latte, which was clearly of made from top-notch coffee with a great flower decoration in the foam. The service was quick and friendly, with the cashier even making good conversation that felt organic and not forced at all. Would absolutely return to this wonderful restaurant next time I'm in the area. Update: managed to come back one more time before I left time. This time I got the egg & hole. Another great meal. Really generous portion (forgot to mention that about the shakshuka), making this restaurant also a really great value for healthier food with fresh ingredients. read more

On a frigid evening, we happened upon this City Center location. I've noticed Tatte's popping up in the City & National Landing and I couldn't be more happy. We ordered, then found seats & ensured the number was visible. This place has so much to offer!! I enjoyed having the opportunity to observe the baristas flex their artistic chops within the Coffee Bar. The modern open floor plan & soft white lighting are perfect for working or relaxing with friends. Additionally, the bakery displays small flaky pieces of heaven. The seasonal comfort food and healthy salads prepared in their scratch kitchen deserve more than an honorable mention too. This is my type of place. I think I enjoyed the sausage sandwich more, as the short rib grilled cheese was just alright. I think the sausage breakfast sandwich hit the price point better and it was just simpler. Inside, Tatte is super pretty a good amount of seating. Coffees were tasty and I enjoyed my latte. It's sort of clean up after yourself type of place. I have found myself realizing that DC is just more of coffee and bakery type of place as far as fast food scenes. Overall, Tatte is good. Really creative and solid bakery items with breakfast and cafe items that hit the spot I got a SEC on a roll and the sausage was really flavorful with that spicy edge that separates a good sausage from a great one. After waiting a significant amount of time, the breakfast platter was disgusting. The eggs were cold, the "sausage" had so much seasoning in it that it wasn't even edible in my opinion. Tatte is one of those places that you walk into and you "ooh" and "ahh" and then it's time to order and you have no idea what you want because it all looks so good! We actually went 2 days in a row because of this. The line is long during rush morning hours but it moves fast. The staff is kind and knows their stuff. Day 1: Chai latte. Delish. Vanilla lime krembo which was like a curd topped with fluffy meringue and then dipped it white chocolate which hardened. It was divine! Hot cup of coffee which was just what I needed. Monkey bread was just ok. I should have gone for a croissant, but someone beat me to it and placed an order that took them all. Oh well. Day 2: Water to drink which they have a water station which is helpful. Hot chocolate to drink which was like a hug. Chocolate mousse cake which was delish but WAY too sweet (it's hard to even say that because we love sweets!) House made breakfast plate with two poached eggs, bacon, potato fritter, and toast. Large serving that I couldn't finish. I wish we had time to go back and try the lunch items. There is tons of indoor seating as well which is nice. I used to think that a really good looking pastry meant it would be really yummy but after many visits to pastry shops I am reminded that although the eyes are drawn to what looks beautiful, it's all in the taste. I was disappointed because the pastries I got were stale. The Jerusalem Bagel was stale as well as the Morning Bun. Both were cold when I got it. An immediate sign to me especially when I am there around 7:10am. There was not the crispness that a laminated croissant dough would have. The Jerusalem bagel's texture felt a little too whipped along with staleness. I know times are tough all over but day's old baked goods should be sold at half price and noted. Almost a five, but a few key misses. You order at the counter, find a seat and they bring the food to your table. You can't customize a meal (e.g even though there's bacon, you can't order just a side of bacon.) Therefore, I had to order a breakfast that came with bacon just to get bacon for my son. Not a big deal, just calling it out. The workers are all very friendly. Service is fast and nice. The AC was out while we were here. I don't think that's an always thing, they had fans to keep it bearable in July, but it was on the hot side. The good: the ginger date oat milk latte which is seasonable was delicious. I regretted getting it hot after realizing the AC was out, but it was still great. I don't like my drinks that sweet so I would ask for it to be a tad less sweet next time. The just ok: my son loved his bacon, I was meh on my poached eggs and hashed browns. The sourdough bread was good. I just wished I liked my food more. My other son got a $4 chocolate chip cookie. I thought it was ok, but being that he only ate half and I didn't love it I'd try another pastry next time. The decor is beautiful and they have water out and readily available. It was packed when I went in, which makes sense being downtown and a viral spot? However, the line moved fast and the workers were kind. I think because it was so busy orders got missed, including mine. I was told to wait on the side since my order was to-go and I ended up standing for awhile before a worker asked what I got. My order never went through and the person at the register gasped and said sorry she forgot about me. Other than that, my food and drink were pretty okay, but not where I would come back. I'm a sucker for a decadent pastry and after reading reviews, I was convinced I had to make time to go to Tatte Bakery while in D.C. This location is conveniently located in downtown D.C. and we stopped in after a long day of sight seeing. We ordered a pistachio bar and fruit tart but both were okay. They were kind of dry. I also ordered a chai latte but it just tasted like water downed milk. The bakery is very spacious and lively though. There were so many people inside, but the pastries were disappointing. Great location in City Center near the Metro Center and Gallery Place metros. It's proximity to these and downtown make it a convenient meeting place. Tatte is modern and spacious and overlooks the Christmas tree (during holidays), fountains and farmers market. It's got great coffee, tea, and lattes, friendly staff, and a bakery with delicious treats along with a number of snacks and sandwiches. While busy, it has a lot of space for meeting, working, or getting something to eat or drink. I've been there both during the week and weekend and you had a mix of people working, meeting, or stopping in for their favorite pick me up. read more

I've always been a Tatte fan! Stopped by this location because it was the closest to the convention center. The house latte is my go-to everytime but I typically like it cold. It was chilly that day so I opted for a hot drink instead, which interestingly changed the flavor profile. The halva didnt stand out as much in a hot drink and it became more cardamom-forward. It was still tasty nevertheless! I also got to try the seasonal pumpkin latte. I liked the incorporation of pumpkin puree because it gave it a more authentic flavor but the puree would often fall the bottom of the cup. The espresso and milk part was good and consistent with other lattes I've had at Tatte. For food, the cheese boureka is my go-to but it also depends on how they reheat it. On a separate occasion here, I tried their seasonal shakshouka with mushrooms and bacon. The potato cream sauce was delicious and loved how the bacon flavors were incorporated nicely. The shiitake mushrooms, spinach, herbs, and eggs were all well seasoned and very delicious with their soft and toasted bread slices. All the Tatte locations have the same decor and I liked the clean black/white look with wooden/marble furniture and lots of natural light. Staff were polite and spoke different languages.
