    Cookie butter cupcake
    Tra S.

I'm not sure if the whole of DC is on their fall diet or if it's been a slow day for the Cakeroom. She was empty at 5:00pm on a lazy Sunday and still had plenty of everything in the case. We opted for their cookie butter cupcake Andra slice of strawberry cake. The cupcake was definitely SWEET but hey this is America. However, she was also moist and light.

Kids are adaptable but seating on the weekends would be nice!

They need more staff. That's the best way to put it. I get that it might be hard but yeah. Called to place an order for cupcakes and was put on hold for 32 minutes, the guy rushed me through my order, didn't have time to answer questions and they take payment up front so when I had to go inside to get my wallet I was put back on hold, which...fine. My fault anyway, my one memorized card number wasn't gonna cut it smh. Anyhow took my son and his friends for cupcakes after a spy museum hangout and honestly they were DELICIOUS BUT the staff refused to put the cupcake toppers on, there is no seating inside or outside for some reason, whether it was closed for a private event or just because, the ONLY seating is for the diner next door and they have big signs that say Diner Only. I had to balance the box, put the toppers on in their ROPED OFF window seat, and feed the boys on a bench outside which was blessedly unoccupied. Being middle school boys, they were fine, but it was a little much for an overstimulated mom on 4 hours of sleep and adrenaline after 5 hours with 5 middle schoolers. But the boys enjoyed, their cakes and cupcakes are amazing and I WILL order again, but maybe be a smidge more prepared lol.

After spending the afternoon in Penn Quarter, we decided to pop on over to Adams Morgan for some sweet treats. This place is cute and the smell of baked goods hits you as soon as you hit the door. What I had: LEMON LAVENDER CUPCAKE -- delicious frosting, dry cake. I wanted to love this. BROOKIE -- delish! Good balance of crisp crust and soft center. I would go back for another brookie (and maybe a lemon bar) the next time I'm in the area. __ I eat. @f.hux I thrift. @DCthriftish

We stumbled in here during Adams Morgan Day. We ordered the biscoff cheesecake and strawberry cheesecake. Very very tasty. Reasonably priced. The guy taking the order just seemed tired so I'll give him a pass. I'll definitely return and try another cheesecake!

Dear Cake Room, I hope you had a wonderful day. I am writing to express my gratitude for your service and products, but I wanted to inform you that in one of my first and last purchases from your store, I found a hair in a cheesecake I bought on June 6th to celebrate my brother's birthday. I am not upset, I just want to point out that you (apparently) lack something essential: hygiene. Thank you very much.

Ordered a wedding cake tasting box for $25 and I was very disappointed to receive 5 average cupcakes. When placing the order it says you will receive either cupcakes or cake slices, but to receive all cupcakes is disappointing. Especially given that the cupcakes are only $3.50 each, so it would have been cheaper to just go in and order 5 cupcakes. If you are planning on cake tasting, just go in and order the cupcakes they have in shop. Overall, the cupcakes were dry and stale. Would not be surprised if they were two days old. The customer service was amazing, and I appreciated the baker working.

A HUGE German chocolate cake from this establishment was the star of the show at a party I attended last night. AMAZING! I can't decide whether to rush over and visit the shop or avoid it for life. (Grandma! Your foot!) I've heard the carrot cake was amazing, too.

Stumbled in the Cakeroom after an afternoon lunch with friends. This was going to be my final stop for the day. I have passed by this place a few times while in this area but I never stopped in. Wowza this place is gem they had just about everything for someone with a sweet tooth cakes, cupcakes, cookies, cheesecake, bars, lattes and I'm sure a few things that I didn't see. I decided to order a little of this and that. I went for two cookies, a cupcake and a brookie. I also ordered a slice of pumpkin cheesecake for my friend. The cashier was super friendly and helped me make some choices i.e the carrot cupcake. Unfortunately I got home only to realize I wasn't given a brookie. I don't like lemon and I'm very upset that my thing I wanted most didn't make it in my bag. I'm hoping everything else is good. The cake room is really cute and has a great variety I think they have something for everyone.

Very dry and old tasting vanilla cake. Looks like cake was over baked. Really disappointing given the price point. They were not willing to replace when I went back.

    Peanut Butter cheesecake

My daughter and I stopped here unexpectedly after running weekend errands. The line was almost to the door but moved fast. I had the peanut butter cheesecake and it was great. Pleasant decor and clean overall. The cheesecake slices were about $5-6 each which I thought was reasonable.

    Assorted dozen
    Graysen V.

My mom sent these cupcakes for my birthday! The assorted dozen was incredible, with such a diverse range of flavors. They had all the classics like chocolate/chocolate, red velvet, cookies and cream, but also some fun ones like cookie butter and chocolate peanut butter. Cakeroom has equally decadent cake and frosting, which is hard to find. The frosting is rich and velvety, and the cake matches! The cake stayed moist over the several days I had it, which I was incredibly impressed by. Definitely will be asking my mom to order these again next year!!

The folks on this side were very sweet and helpful. When we went over to "Wired" to get our coffees, there were a bunch of *other* treats over there, which nobody told us about, so that was annoying because then we would have ordered way fewer items. So we got a couple more goodies here as well as our iced coffees and a hot cocoa for our kiddo. The folks on this side were unfriendly and uninterested in customer service ("Just checking in on our quiche...?";"Oh, we totally forgot. We'll put it in now."). We weren't impressed with most of our items though some were better than others. Unsurprisingly, the cupcakes were the best; we got the nutella and "unicorn" ones, and both were moist with excellent frostings. We especially appreciated the filling in the nutella. The chocolate chip cookie was terrible--our daughter, a cookie fiend, refused to have another bite of it. We liked the novelty of the "orange dream" shortcake. As for the other stuff, the spicy sausage biscuit was not spicy at all and had the consistency of rubber. The quiche that finally came out was too oily, but we all liked the decadent cinnamon roll. Bit of a mixed bag all around, so we're settling on three stars. We ourselves won't be back, but others might have a better experience on a different day.

Unfortunately, the location in DC has permanently closed and we were still very much in the mood for some pastries... my cousin who is French has previously sang the praises of this Lil French pastry shop, so of course I had to give it a try. I am so happy that I did because I truly believe that I have stumbled upon my new favorite pastry shop in the area! Upon walking in the smell of croissants and almonds and sweet, sweet delicacies filled my nostrils. I basically became the human version of Remy from ratatouille inhaling a delicious bouillabaisse simmering on the stove top for hours....seeing colors and flavors so bright and intoxicating I simply had to have it I walked in and my eyes were instantly attracted to so many delicious options from classics like Palmiers and Napoleons to some unique flavor combos I've never tried before combined like raspberry and pistachio. Of course, I decided to grab a little bit of everything to make an accurate assessment as a YELP Elite should!! My favorite hands-down was the Berry Millefuille. The way the pastry crumbled in my mouth with every bite, combined with the tart, fresh raspberries, and thick flavorful custard.... Was worth every penny. Honorable mentions go to the peach rosemary tart, which was so unique with the added botanical of rosemary with some fresh sweet peach slices on top and a very crunchy tart base. We all enjoyed everything we purchased! I also ordered one of their seasonal specialties, the rosemary latte with skim milk and iced. The flavors were so uniquely crafted to where you could taste everything but everything combined together for the perfect sip. The ladies who greeted us at the cash register were so patient, so kind, and so understanding of my excitement and difficulty deciding and they even helped me add on a little chocolate happy birthday rectangle to the pastry I purchased for my husband! Without a doubt, this is only the first of the many times I will visit the establishment. It was so authentic, so delicious and passed all the vibe checks even from the French side of the family. I was told I have to return when they first open to have a fresh croissant and a fresh baguette that is on par with what you would have in Paris. Even the items in the fridge were made in France and were delicious fruit nectars that were very unique- we purchased a passionfruit nectar that didn't even make it past the doors before we had completely inhaled it and purchased a lychee nectar for later. I am so excited to have learned about this establishment and believe me when I say you must run, not walk, to experience it for yourself.
