Unfortunately, they were sold out when I went but the oatmeal cream cookie quickly erased my disappointment. It's very rare that you can find an oatmeal cookie without raisins and I was amped that they tasted as good as they looked. To wash it down, I ordered the caramel latte. It was the perfect compliment to the sweetness of the cookie. FYI, believe the hot warning on the coffee sleeve, it's definitely a justified warning. Hate to do this... but really disappointed. We are hardcore loyalist. We love Christina, have all her cook books, did all her bake clubs, Many years ago, before I had a gluten allergy, we regularly ordered stuff for mail delivery. But this was our first time going into a store. They keep taking away gluten free items, no more cookies, truffles, chocolate cakes.... We have made countless of her items all gluten free without issue, so idk they don't offer more options. The side by side birthday cake of gluten free vs gluten is really my complaint, looks smaller, a lot less frosting in the layers... and the cake tasted dry... and having made this cake several times and ordered it and ate it over days... it was never dry like this. My non-allergy family got cereal milkshake, something we have dreamed about for years and they said it tastes really stale and salty. Wouldn't order it again. I thought it would feel more magical inside, more pink and sprinkles, lots of color but it was just plain and sad. I got this place delivered and was pretty disappointed in their cookies. I got six flavors and each one was overly sweet, a bit underbaked and not fresh. The cookies are not baked fresh but were prepackaged and came from New York so that's to be expected but for a bakery, I was expecting cookies to be made in house. We also got a slice of strawberry cake and it was okay. Heavy on the icing and not a ton of natural strawberry flavor but the cake itself was good. I've tried the corn cake, confetti cake, and cereal milk ice cream. The confetti cake was delicious, moist, nostalgic, and fun. The corn cake and cereal milk ice cream were good, but in my opinion, didn't quite live up to the hype. Milk Bar is definitely worth visiting at least once, especially if you're a fan of inventive desserts or culinary pop culture. That said, between the premium prices, long lines, and tough competition from other dessert spots, it likely won't become a regular stop for me. read more

Someone named Tiara B handled the order and instead packed only one slice of the cake yet I was charged the full amount. When I called to find out why I didn't get the cake I ordered, the surly woman who answered the phone at MilkBar said "accidents happen" and had no remorse for the mistake they made. I was planning to bring that cake to an important luncheon the next day but instead all I was able to get was a refund. If I wanted the money, I would have never ordered in the first place. I love their strawberry short cakes. It's a seasonal option so only in the summer. I usually get myself one for my birthday. This location actually has parking. It looks blocked but it's not. They have a corn cookie that is surprisingly good. The ambiance was so cute a bubbly! Pink and lots of baking decor. Service - they were extremely helpful. I ordered a cake online and it wasn't delivered in time so they were able to get me the cake I needed. The birthday cake is pretty sweet. I've had the 6" and the 10" cakes. The 10" cake is pretty big. There are a few layers in the cakes as well. I usually get the 6" so that there isn't much left over. I can't be a big back and eat it alone lol. read more

Sooooo upfront... I'm a gluten free reviewer, that holds my five star reviews like a toddler with a Cheerio... they are hard to pry out of my gummy fingers!!! So.... Understand that it takes a perfect mix, every time for me to give up the 5... soooo a 4 from me is high praise. I have been to Milk Bar many times because they are one of the most consistent sources of a gluten-free dessert option, or actually three to be exact. I was hesitant to come here after reading the recent reviews, but we had a great experience! The atmosphere is cool - seems like lots of space to hang out (didn't stay because it was late). As for the ice cream, I'd never been here before, and it's definitely unique. I just wish they had a little more variety of options (they had 4 milk shake options - cereal milk, bday, chocolate bday, and seasonal), but they do have a curated menu - so if you're not picky and want a unique tasting experience, this is a fun spot. So I've wanted to try this place for a while but I elected to take my 12 year old on our mom daughter day. First of all, I just want to say it's SO CUTE. It has parking and it's unmistakable on the corner of 15th and R. The menu is soft serve, cookies, truffles, cakes and their signature milk pie. I haven't tried it, but I'm glad it was just us because it's called milk and they mean it lol. There is nothing dairy free in the place. My daughter wanted truffles so I grabbed some blueberry pie truffles and they were DIVINE then we tried marshmallow and cereal milk ice cream. It's an acquired taste. I'm not sure I was getting there, even with a cornflake topper. Marshmallow jt was, with toasted marshmallow bits on the side. Solid, but not worth the calories imho. My daughter finished the ice cream but said the truffles were really sweet. We took them home and she finished with milk. But oat. I will try the other offerings and maybe amend my review but this is a very niche concept with really unusual offerings. I feel it's a love it or leave it. Right now, I'm a leave it. I love this location! There is parking available on sight and they offer so many different items. Ice cream, cookies, cakes all the sweet treats you could want. I also love that they have a coffee bar. My favorite at the moment is their cereal milk latte which is delicious but not overly sweet. They open later than all the cafes in the area so it's nice to stop in for a warm coffee or hot chocolate especially in the winter months. The service here is also very quick and the employees are extremely friendly. Theres space to sit inside the store but the surrounding area is also nice for walking if you dont want to stay inside. read more

I was first introduced to Milkbar when a friend sent me a surprise birthday treat. I loved it so much that I ordered a few as gifts since they shipped well. I was excited to visit a store and try their cakes in Logan Circle. I ordered a slice and was chatting with the attendant. He then reached into what looked like a storage fridge (read: not display case or visible to give customer) and brought out the slice. I jokingly said: "Oh, please give me a freshly baked slice." He replied that they get their deliveries (from their NYC store) every Wednesday! We were having this conversation on a Sunday afternoon. It was disappointing to learn that they sell days-old cakes at their storefront. What's the point of having a storefront if the plan is to sell cakes that are not fresh or made in-house? Chocolate Most Red Velvet Cake in the Land I wrapped myself up in self love. For Valentine Day, I order the 6 inch multilayered Red Velvet Chocolate Cake from the famed Milk Bar Bakery. They provide a great discount coupon and allowed me to select a delivery date within their ordering window period. It arrived in its own cooler including ice packs, to keep the cake fresh. To further protect the delicious creation it was bubble wrap and then shrink wrap. It taste as fresh as the day it was created. So moist, chocolatey and creamy, with it chocolate and red velvet layers. Everyone loved the cake, I shared it with a friend and she had to almost mentally fight her coworker over the chocolate deliciousness. Would I recommend Milk Bar? Yes, it's great for special occasion or just because bakery place to order, pies, cookies or cakes. I saw Christina on an episode of Chef's Table, and her story was inspiring and her food looked amazing. So when I was planning my trip to DC last summer, and I learned there was a Milk Bar location there, I got really excited. So on the way out, the day closest to my birthday, I stopped in and picked up the order I pre-ordered online, the Milk Bar Sampler. I chose the Sampler, because it had a little bit of everything! A slice of the pie, two three-packs of cake pop truffle balls, and six cookies. Excellent. I mentioned the pre-order, by the way, because I definitely recommend going that route if you come here. They were definitely understaffed, the line out the door did not move at an efficient pace, and I heard that many of the orders at the front of the line were sold out. So, heads up. As for the food itself, the pie was heaven. The Crack Pie (I know the real name) was so soft and unctuous and was just the perfect amount of sweetness. I would recommend getting a whole version of this every time. The truffle balls and the cookies were also good. Less above average than the Pie, but still very good. The second best thing in the sampler was the Compost Cookie (The original sweet and salty kitchen sink cookie, with chocolate chips in a deep vanilla base, plus Milk Bar's five recommended food groups: pretzels, potato chips, graham crackers, coffee, oats, and butterscotch). So if you come, get the whole pie and a six pack of this cookie. Done. Overall, this place was really good. The hype and the marketing probably gets it tons and tons of business. I really enjoyed it, and I will probably come back the next time I'm within 25 miles of another one. read more

genuinely the nastiest ice cream ive ever had. walking in, i'm not sure why the standard flavors of the ice cream isn't advertised on the menu, but i didn't mind asking anyway. They only have 3 flavors cereal milk, chocolate cereal milk, and whatever seasonal flavor is available. I got the cereal milk, which was a horrible mistake. The moment i tasted it, no exaggeration, i immediately threw it back in the trash can before i walked out the building. The flavor is very weird and off putting, i don't even think toppings could save the flavor. The only good thing about the experience was the person who helped me at the counter. We visited Milk Bar Flagship at Logan Circle, and it's a great location with its own private parking lot. Which is great when driving around DC, since parking is very limited. We love the compost cookies, birthday cake truffles, and the Milk Bar signature pie. We always end up spending a good amount of money when we are in the area since this is the closest store to where we live. The service was friendly and efficient. The cashier talked us through our ordering options. The ambiance is bright, trendy, and casual. People are sleeping on the fancy lattes. They're made with housemade flavoring, not mass-produced syrups, so they taste high-quality and unique. The cereal milk iced latte tastes like their flagship soft serve, sweet and slightly salty cornflake milk. The seasonal cookies and cream iced latte tastes mostly like Oreo cream, with only a few sips of cookie, but it tastes like it's made with good ingredients. I've found that the iced lattes showcase the flavors more than the hot ones. I got the chocolate birthday cake shake and I didn't like it. There was nothing "wrong" with it, it just isn't the kind of milkshake I like. Description. The base of the shake tasted like the cereal milk ice cream that milk bar is known for. I thought it would be chocolate ice cream. Then there were rather large chunks of their chocolate birthday cake in the shake. I thought they would be more bite sized so the cake could be sucked up the straw. They were way too large for that. The shake had a LOT of sprinkles in it. So much so that the texture of the shake was majority sprinkle. It did not have a chocolate flavor. It tastes like cereal milk ice cream with very crunchy sprinkles. All that to say, I'm sure it's the perfect shake for someone, but not for me :( ... and it's also incredibly expensive!
