Yes they have a great salad/cold bar but for the price I could never justify visiting again for dinner. So when my friend suggested visiting before a concert at Anthem I was annoyed but quickly changed my feeling when she shared the HH menu. $10 yummy specialty cocktails and a nice line-up of apps to purchase to eat alone or share? I was so excited. I order the lamb chop lollipops, you can cut them with a butter knife! It's my favorite. This location has a great patio, service and strong drinks. Incredible Experience - Ask for Eliseo and Matias! We had an absolutely phenomenal lunch at the Fogo de Chão at The Wharf, and it was entirely due to the incredible team work of our server Eliseo and Gaucho chef, Matias. Our server, Eliseo, was incredibly attentive and kept the pace of the meal perfect, but the highlight was our Gaucho chef, Matias. From the moment he arrived at our table, it was clear he was a master of his craft. He cuts every selection so elegantly and treats the meat with real respect. We actually found out why he's so skilled: he used to be the meat chef at Gordon Ramsay's Hell's Kitchen just down the street, where he prepared all the cuts for their famous Beef Wellingtons. That level of expertise really shines through in his work here. Matias took the time to explain cuts of meat to us, and his knowledge of the different meats is top-tier. What impressed us most was his attention to detail--whenever we mentioned we wanted a specific piece charred a bit more, he didn't just say "okay," he took it and charred it for us immediately. I ordered the Gold Rush and my friend ordered a glass of Malbec. He brought just the Malbec. About halfway into dinner I asked him to cancel my drink. My friend ordered a refill on the Malbec and again he forgot. So I asked him if he was going to bring the refill and then proceeded to clear glassware off other tables before bringing the glass of wine. Instead of having 4 drinks on the bill, we only had 2 drinks and it would've only been 1 if I hadn't reminded the server. Also after we turned our cards to red we kept being interrupted and asked if we wanted meat. We also asked for our check which took some time to get and then more time to actually close out delaying us a few minutes past 2 hours. The churrascaria experience offers so many great samplings of meat and while you can access the fruit and salad bar, why would you with all of the delicious chicken, steak, beef, sausage, and other options that just keep on coming. Service was great and this location provided an upscale, but more casual vibe than the downtown location. The restaurant is very modern with large glass windows bringing in natural light and a glimpse of the wharf happenings. They have light Spanish/Portugues music playing. While we preferred the meat options at the downtown location (more options), we appreciated how friendly the staff was, the more laid-back setting, and the location right on the main strip of the wharf at this location. Fogo also offers great discounts such as a birthday discount and kids 6 and under eating free (my daughter is obsessed with both DC locations). We'll be back! read more

Outstanding service, everyone is very friendly and food was delicious! The drinks were on point too. I came here as part of a group of 8 people, dining on New Year's Eve. It was quite crowded and a a popular dining destination for the night, but we had a reservation so our party was sitted immediately. Josue was our server. He did a fantastic job tending to our table. We all went in on the "Full" Churrasco experience, which was roughly $69/person. It was well worth it, besides....When coming here you might as well go big or go home. lol. I've been to several Fogo de Chao locations around the DC area, Philly, and NYC. And, I can say..... everything about this location was top notch and up there with the best of them. The food was delicious and the atmosphere was extremely chill. We started with the salad bar which is included in the meal. The selection of salad items were excellent and everything was fresh and tasty. The veggies and entire spread is a meal in itself. I was also very impressed that the second we turned our food card over to green, the meats arrived at the table one after another. For the most part, the meats were delicious, tender and well-seasoned. We particularly enjoyed the filet mignon, lamb chops and the chicken wrapped in bacon! I had wanted their cheese and honey but couldn't find the guy carrying it so when someone came by I asked for it and the guy immediately came to me. I would have been happier with a variety of warm sides as well. Maybe some were meant to be; not sure. When I asked about tree nut allergies I was told everything was safe. The manager came to advise, but I wish it was in writing. I had nothing to reference or double check and just had to take his word. Luckily, my kiddo didn't have any issue! However, he stuck with basically all meats to be safe. Be sure to review your check. For the younger kiddos in our group we were charged an adult rate. It was an easy fix but should have been caught. It cost me $200 for 2 people to have a drink and eat here, for the price it was underwhelming and 40 mins to get my drink and not seeing any decent cut of meat for an hour is a no go. 1. Reservation: necessary. It is a huge establishment, but given its location at the Wharf, it is packed. 2. Food: not good in a sense that I had to wait 30 mins just for anything to show up, and they keep bringing chicken or sausage.. I don't eat any of those ever. They hold out on the beef and before you know it, it's 1.5 hours and they want you gone. 3. Drink: took 20 mins to order and another 20 before I could get it in my hands. 4. Service: They try to be nice, but if I don't get any food or drink for half an hour and have to ask for the usual items that come to the table such as the bread, cheese etc, it is bad service. All in all, I won't recommend this location. If you are truly craving Fogo, go to Tyson's location, at least they are better. read more

Terrible bar service!! I visited yesterday for happy hour. I really wanted to check out this new location as I love the Wharf and don't come to this area often! Well don't think it's new new now, but it's been under a year. They absolutely need to work on their service! I sat at the bar and was ignored for awhile. I mean at least 20 minutes and it wasn't that busy. The bartender (didn't get her name) eventually came over to bring a menu. I put in for a red blend. Just wine. No cocktail! Should be quick and easy right?! I saw her taking other orders and attending to other patrons. I saw her pour a white wine and had it sitting at the bar. Before she poured it she reached up to get the glass out by putting her pen in to scout it out. I get that it's high and she's short but wow! Then she looks over at me and came over with the white wine that was sitting there that I did not order. She apologized and said it's on her. I let her know that I actually didn't order that. I reminded her of my real order and asked to put in for some sliders. I got my wine but 30 minutes go by and still no food. Did she even put it in? In fact she disappeared for awhile and never said anything. I got the attention of another bartender, Gabriel, to let him know that I wanted to cancel the order of sliders. They were not prepared to handle a table of 20. We had to ask several times for assistance by tje staff. We were never explained the menu options. Echoing others' reviews about really poor bar service here for happy hour. The bar is set up really oddly- it's not one set of seats facing the bar, there are like mini-sections that jut out from the bar, but it makes it really difficult to get the attention of any bartenders (we were in a set of seats with basically our backs to the bar). It took us at least 10-15 minutes just to get someone's attention, and it was really difficult to get a bartender's attention the entire time. This was especially frustrating because the bar was not crowded- there were probably fewer than 10 people there total. We were seated for about an hour and a half, and ordered two rounds of drinks and three small appetizers. The first appetizer came out in about 10 minutes (chicken sliders, which were just okay); the second one took longer, probably another 20-30 minutes (about six pieces of marinated cheese, a small plate but very good); and the third almost never came at all. We had to follow up three times because, even after we had already paid our bill, the third plate still hadn't come out. The first time we asked, we were told it would come out in 5-10 minutes; it took over half an hour after that point. When the plate finally came out, the server who brought it out was clearly annoyed, and the yuca fries we had ordered did not seem to be fully cooked. This was really disappointing. The HH is very reasonably priced, which was nice, but I would not recommend sitting at the bar here. read more

Bar Fogo's All-Day Happy Hour, is its own delightful ritual thanks to a favorite friend who introduced me to this gem in the first place. The Wharf location always seems to have a nice low-key vibe, even when busy. The service is great, the servers friendly. I've been a number of times, and the Happy Hour lineup is strong enough that I hope to try everything eventually... though I keep running back to my favorites because they're THAT good. Enter, the $10 picanha burger. It's simple enough, but this is not your typical happy-hour burger -- this beef is rich, flavorful, and tender in a way that makes you rethink every regular burger you've ever had. I even ate it once without the bun just to taste the meat on its own, and wow!! The polenta fries? Hot, crispy, perfectly seasoned. The lamb lollipops? Unforgettable. Moist, tender, juicy--just hits the spot every single time. And of course, you must try (or ask for) the pão de queijo. These warm, cheesy bites of happiness are reason enough to stop by. At this point, it's not a question of if I'll be going back, it's now a question of when. And the best part is the happy hour is not only every day, it's pretty much everywhere. At this location, our group stayed in the bar area to take advantage of the all day happy hour specials. They had a good variety on the happy hour menu and the drinks and snacks I had were great. The staff was nice, but the wait times to receive some of the food that was ordered were pretty long, nearly an hour for a couple of the items. A manager took those items off of the affected parties' bills to rectify. The all day happy hour is a good draw, especially for the wharf, and the drinks were quite the highlight, I just wouldn't come here if I was on a tight schedule. read more

We watched as all the servers sat by the station talking while we had to fight to get their attention to get service. After being sat down they came by once to refill our waters but never checked in and we had to keep asking for help with the check and menus. Even sitting next to them we had to ask multiple times before they acknowledged us. The food selection is minimal and we sat there hungry our entire meal since it takes 10 min for anyone to come by with meat in a empty restaurant. The cold bar is almost none existent and had food that does not pair that well with steak. I had more salad than I had meat. I paid to be left hungry and offended by this place. Fogo de Chão has brought their love of Brazilian churrasco to the Wharf, DC, opening their newest restaurant at the waterfront. I was so excited to be one of the first to check them out and IT DID NOT DISAPPOINT! The restaurant is beautiful, absolutely stunning. Dinner options were all the prime cuts of meat (lamb, ribeye, filet mignon) and of course the chicken and salmon. We enjoyed the well stocked salad bar and tableside service of signature meats. The salad bar had fresh friits, vegetables and a brown sugar bacon that was to die for! I also enjoyed the rice and black beans as well. I topped mine off with the hot pepper sauce that was on the salad bar as well. To end the night, we had chocolate molten cake and tres leches. I thought the Wharf location would be a great choice for dining, instead of fighting through traffic to return to the downtown DC location. Scenery at the wharf was great, but this restaurant did not come through for my part of 6. I will look at this as a $500 charitable contribution. The drinks were mediocre. The meats were salty, overcooked, or distasteful overall. I appreciated the salad, and the dinner rolls were delicious. Service was surprisingly slow, despite the restaurant not being crowded. Since opening I have only experienced their takeout service. Overall, their takeout operation is good. I've visited midday, during lunch, to very light customer traffic. Granted, I believe Fogo de Chão will always be a dinner restaurant than a lunch, but for a seated restaurant on the SW waterfront, near hotels, and tourists, I found it a bit strange. The inside is very modern contemporary in construction and decor. The bar is also beautiful. The customer service was very friendly. I'll visit again to experience the dinner service. read more

We had a great experience at this Fogo de Chão! Jairo, Dalia, & Luis were super friendly and attentive to us. They always greeted us with a smile and made sure we were taken care of with food, drinks, and clearing our table. This location is beautiful with a great big open dining room. Attire ranged from classy and celebratory (we saw recent grads & prom goers all here) to very casual (some diners were even in athleisure). The vibe is lively and loud, very welcoming all around. The market tables/salad bar items were delicious as were many of the meats that came out. I don't generally eat churrasco and found that many of the meats were over cooked for my taste, even after asking for medium rare. The meats that were medium rare were great! So I think it depends on when you catch them coming by your table. All in all, we had a great experience here and recommend checking out this Fogo. :) read more

My bestie and I came to DC to celebrate my 60th birthday. We had high hopes for our dining experience here but we were in for a let down. After being seated in the 'barish' section I made the mistake of mentioning to our waiter that we would only be dining off the $6 bites menu. I offered to have us move to the bar since we wouldn't be dining off the higher priced menu. He stated he would serve us none the less and we were fine there. That was the last time we spoke to him. He abandoned us there only to be within our eyesights to speak with the hostess. After waiting over 10 minutes (with both of us catching the eye of the hostess AND waiter) we left. My money spends just as well as the diner having the Churrasco Cut experience. PS, our reservations were at 4:30pm so you can imagine how empty a restaurant of that 'caliber' was. So today was opening day at the wharf! We can't miss that! This place is so cute! The aesthetics are just modern and chic. The floor plan is open and it's just so new and clean. I love the extended bars that give you the feel of a high top table. Now we know fogo has an all day happy hour so this is amazing! Went with my girls for happy hour and we had a time. The food is lovely- they enjoyed the lamb sliders. We all enjoyed the chicken sliders and empanadas. Go crazy with the drinks and it's just a great vibe to add to the area! The service is top tier. It's almost like a community server experience because everyone checks in with you even if they're not your server. The meat was delicious and you can easily get full if you don't pace yourself. I do wish that every meat option came to the table or if there was a practice in place where you can remember what you received. We did have to wait a bit because the tables were jam packed, but as soon as we were seated, we got our drink orders in and got to town with the salad bar which was well stocked and had such variety. And the cheesy rolls were so warm and delicious! Being a chain or high end Brazilian steakhouses, we decide to try it out. we learned that this was only the first month that this location had been open. Inside was quite large and expansive with several tables. Couple of tidbits that annoyed me, on the tables were EXTREMELY close together. The second was that there was a small step as you enter, the lighting was not great inside, this combined with the step could cause a safety issue. Food was standard, as long as you were green, the meat kept coming. Decent sized cold bar with several salad options. Service was okay. I ran out of water and waited quite a while for refills.
