Gets very crowded if you happen to visit during a major event (fight night, etc.) so be sure to check out their schedule beforehand; we accidentally visited during a fight night and the place was PACKED. Long lines and big crowds around the screens, but there still was ample seating despite all of that. Drinks were okay, and they had some fun activities like corn hole and beer pong for friend groups. This past summer, I found myself visiting the Tysons Biergarten a few times. Once because I had a training session in the area and stopped in to wait out traffic, and on a couple of other occasions I made the painful trek down Route 7 because I have friends who work at one of the many nearby consulting firms, and they seem to like this place. However, you wanna know what Tysons Biergarten really is? It is an attempt to recapture the nostalgia and youth of being your 20's, all while trying to escape the soul crushing reality of being an office drone in the corporate dystopia that is Tyson's Corner. Tysons Biergarten tries so hard to remind people that even if you have to wear an off the rack drab suit, that you can still be cool and hip by hanging out and drinking beer on picnic tables, all while using plastic tokens to pay for drinks - since using cash or credit cards is so early 2000's. There are plenty of other reviews explaining how the token system works, but I am in the majority of reviewers who think it's dumb and gimmicky. The only thing more abhorrent, is the food ordering system...followed closely by the cuisine itself. There seems to be a belief that people only want to interact with kiosks and tablets for services, since talking to a live human to order food is a concept again...from the early 2000's. So walk into the kitchen and then place your order on the tablet hanging on the wall, and wait for the food. Look, I've been to Austria and Switzerland so I have a pretty good idea of what Bavarian cuisine associated with Biergarten's should taste like. The food here, is an insult and not an homage to true European biergartens. The TBG loaded fries are advertised as "fresh fries topped with two different cheese, onions, scallions, and special sauce." Well these fries might be "freshly" defrosted out of a freezer since they were extremely soggy and the special sauce tasted like diluted thousand island. The various sausage platters I've tried aren't terrible, but also nothing special. If you have to order some food, I'd recommend either the jalapeno cheddarwurst or the Kielbasa. Both of these sausages have a familiar flavor to most people, and can be dressed up with some mustard on the side. When I was last here in late August since it was god-awful hot in DC this summer, I was sitting there around 6pm strategically camped under an umbrella for shade, and I watched as legions of folks were walking around with their lanyards from places like CVENT, KPMG, and Booz Allen, just to name a few. I get it. Everyone wants the nice six-figure salary associated with being a H.P.C. (aka Highly Paid Consultant) but not the hours or "golden handcuffs" that accompany that line of work. So in that regard, I give Tysons Biergarten a star for at least TRYING to provide some sort of respite to people after logging a long day at the office. Another star also because after flagging down a bartender at either the upper or downstairs (I recommend the downstairs) bar, the beer selection is actually decent, and at Happy Hour, the prices are really good for Tysons. BTW - forget about parking anywhere near the place. Follow the signs to the parking garage about a 3-5 minute walk away; just remember to bring your parking ticket so it can get validated on your way out. read more

We went to watch a game and it wasn't too bad, nice summer night with not many people on a Thursday night. We sat at the table and the tv kept glitching so we had to move. We had order a beer and wings but the wings were more bones than meat. The fries were not bad and the beer was pretty good. Our second visit, the bar was full and you could barely order a drink. Had been here before over the summer & had a good time, so we came back after a show at Capital One. Got there about 10p. Totally opposite experience. We ordered loaded fries & wings from TBG. Young lady at the register didn't say a word & could care less. One employee just stayed on his phone. After 20 minutes we asked where the food was. This is a huge Biergarten! Not only do they have plenty of patio space, and I mean plenty, but there are three levels inside as well. The main floor is the bar area with several beers on tap. The kitchen is also on this floor and they serve Biergarten food, sausage! There are a few different types to choose from as well as sides to go with it. They also offer some apps for snacking. The top floor has seating and TVs. I didn't venture downstairs but plan to do so next time I come. When you walk in, you go to the host stand to purchase tokens for the beer or food. The tokens are all the same price, about $9, but the beer pours are dependent on how strong the beer is. If it is strong you get a quarter liter pour, and less strong beer get half liter pours. Aside from German beers, there are some others that you could choose. From the ones I've tried they were pretty good. Supposedly they have an extensive bottle beer selection but I did not see nor try it. They also have liquor if for some reason you or someone in your party do not want beer (but that would be just silly!). Great place for happy hour on a warm nice day. Happy hour is only from 3-9pm on the weekdays for certain beers/ciders. I like the set-up outdoors and indoors. There's plenty of space. We were lucky and came when it wasn't busy but I heard it's usually really busy during the summer. Parking is a little annoying but the garage is only like 1-2 minute walk from the place. They validate the parking at least. I actually don't like the token/chip system. It's annoying and some things are not worth the token price. I don't think everything is equal like $8.48. Happy hour drinks are only $5 tho. The German pretzel was good but not amazing. It's not as fluffy/buttery as I like it. The Curry Wurst was pretty good. I really enjoyed that. The sauce was more like a tomato bbq sauce. Almost curry but not exactly. The Black Pepper Meatballs were good too. It's a little more sweet since it's a black pepper cider sauce. Very saucy. A first visit to this place on a Friday night with a close friend of mine. It was totally packed by 6:00 PM! Parking was a total mess right near the restaurant/bar area. Had to drive around to a nearby garage, which frickin' cost $13 after 2 hours or so! Ridiculous! Besides that, you had to purchase tokens, which were like $8+ each and that was the only way to get Beer or Food items... We each tried a couple of different Beers, which were pretty good. The food menu items were alright, nothing too special. Got some sliders with fries and a pretzel. Didn't really like the sliders too much, since it was a bit undercooked and chewy. This is definitely one of the cooler drinking spots in NOVA where you forget that you're surrounded by office buildings. My review is only for the beer since I haven't partaken in the food. You purchase your chips at the entrance (and have the option of adding tip if paying with credit card) and each color is for a different item and all cost $8. The concept here is really neat. You buy chips instead of paying for things outright, then use those chips to order drinks and food. It's pretty nice for standardized pricing at least. I'd potentially mark this place three stars if we were basing it only on drinks and food, but the overall environment is what makes it four stars. If the weather is fine, there is a ton of open space. There are cornholes, a giant connect four, separate bar, and for us parents: a playset. Seriously, there have been times where I've come here as an option because it's one of the ONLY options that are kid-friendly. People: parents want to drink. You are cornering the market on parents who want to drink because you're giving me space where I can drink with other moms while my kids play on the little set. Bonus: it's right next to a metro station. Cons: I wish validated parking were less confusing and inconvenient (the garage entrance is hard to find and there isn't a clear walking path from it to the biergarden). Parking is pretty limited, but convenient if you take the metro here. The bar is a short 1 minute walk from the Greensboro Metro Station. The bar is located at the end of a construction zone surrounded by high rises. It's a little confusing and hectic at first. Show your ID at the front door and purchase tokens near the entrance. Each token is $8.48/each. All tokens are the same value for 1 beer/wine/cocktail/food item. They accept credit card via Square. Don't purchase too many tokens, since you cannot return them. U can always buy more throughout the evening. If you want food, get some red tokens. Every item is a red token. Get a menu and a pencil. Check what you want on the paper menu, and then give the menu and tokens to the kitchen staff... they do not bring you the food, you have to keep going back to check. All the beer was fantastic. I would recommend getting a flight. I got a margarita and it was very good. The downstairs had a nice dimly lit ambiance with plenty of bench seating. I had the Basic Beach Orange Crush (a summer drink) and it was DELICIOUS. It's mixed with FRESH orange juice that you can taste, NOT your cheap Minute Maid OJ Vodka drink. When you order you go to the host stand and purchase your drink and food tokens then take them to the bar or the kitchen. The ordering system was super efficient and on days when it's more busy would make sure things move fast. The only downside to that system is that you pay the same price for all beer or wines even though some are worth more than others. Parking needs to get better!!!!!! Okay now that my complaint is out of the way I can say how great this place is. It is hidden but worth the find. The beers are unique and the glasses the beers come in are really cool. I had the Octoberbest and a fruit beer (cannot remember the name) I also had the pretzel which used a fried batter which was so good. It came with mustard and a cheesy dip to go on the side. Paying is unique because it is done the German way. They give you a followup ticket so you don't have to get it validated at the end, just whenever you buy tokens. Giant Jenga, Cornhole, and Pong tables. Pretty fun. There's an outdoor bar, an inside bar, and then a downstairs bar. Downstairs was pretty empty and had the largest HH drink selection. I think they only had one HH drink option at the upstairs/outdoor bar but I have to doublecheck. FOOD: A friend got the "jumbo wings" but they looked emaciated imo. You order food at the bar and they tell you to come back in 10 minutes to pick it up. DRINKS: The Pale Fire - Human Fly West Coast IPA was delicious - not too hoppy and pretty refreshing for an IPA. It's small actually and shared by 2 other lounges I think. But they validate parking at the garage right across so it works out. You pay for "chips" or poker chips up front before going inside. There are 3 different colored chips and they're good for food, beer/wine, and liquor. A bit pricey of $8 a chip for beer at least. TBG I was waiting for something like this to come out to the NoVA area, the ones that I have been to in DC are smaller and parking sucks in DC.... Came in for a friends birthday back in early September. It was raining and we had such a hard time finding the place at first because there seemed to be a bunch of construction blocking the entrance. The parking is just as bad as everyone says it is. It was a miracle that we found a parking near the entrance after waiting 20 minutes. The first thing you'll notice is the outdoor seating. I wish the weather was nicer so that we could have enjoyed the outdoor games and weather. The way you pay for your beer is to exchange your money for tokens. We gave one to the birthday boy and I enjoyed the Scaldis Peche. It's more on the fruity side so you'll almost forget it's even a beer. There is plenty of seating on the main floor, but we had such a large group, that we took up an entire table downstairs. A bit difficult to find if you aren't careful. There is limited parking so it could be a bit frustrating during happy hour. The decor of the restaurant feels like a local beer garden in Germany. There was live music playing at around 8:30 PM on a Tuesday night. There is also games like jenga and connect four you can play outside if the weather permits. The stools are bit uncomfortable because you cant hang your jacket anywhere and there is no back support. They use a unique chip system where a red chip is used to buy food, a blue chip is used to buy beer/wine, a white chip is used to buy liquor. Each chip cost 8 dollars which you buy in front except the green chip which is 5 dollars and can used be use on draft beer between 3pm-9pm from Monday-Friday. The chips are nonrefundable but they don't expire so you can use them for another time. It's a bit annoying have to wait in another line for food but it takes 5-10 minutes for it come out after ordering through a sheet. I ordered a sausage platter which comes with two sausage and two sides. I picked the bratwurst and the cheddarwurst with the pommes frittes (fries) and barrel cured sauerkraut. Both sausages tasted amazing and I would recommend getting both. I would recommend putting honey mustard with the restaurant variant ketchup and sauerkraut on both sausages. I barely almost finished the platter on a full stomach which definitely worth your money. The fries tasted like standard fries so nothing extraordinary but still solid. My friend let me taste his potato pancakes which is basically a hashbrown but it only comes with 1 As for beer, I ordered Delirum Red with abv 8%. It was red colored so it was little fruity but taste absolutely amazing with the perfect balance of sweet and sour. If you are not with the boys I would order this or for your date. Overall, I would come back again here during Happy Hour in Tysons with friends. Taste: 5/5 -Reccomend getting bratwurst and the cheddarwurst with sauerkraut. I personally love this Biergarten. They have a traditional "chip" system for beer that dates back to Germany and their beer selection is worthy of the name. They have mostly IPAs but I've found a few that I like and their cups are very cute lol. The staff is friendly and fast, the food is good when drinking some beer and the music is fun. A huge issue for me is the parking in this place which is super cramped and the location of the bar isn't the easiest place to find. They validate parking in the covered garage if you purchase a drink which is a bonus. Their happy hour deals aren't anything to make me too happy... but I keep coming back because it's a great spot to hang out with friends, center to a lot of places (including the Greensboro stop that's a few feet away) and they have live bands, trivia nights, corn hole. This is my boyfriend, Jeff's, FAVORITE place to hang out. He loves the excellent German beer selection upstairs and I love the ciders downstairs! We always hang out downstairs where it's much cooler in temperature in the summer. I'm not really a fan of sitting outside because we always have bad luck with people smoking right next to us. I love the cider options available, including what they have alternating on tap. They'll even let you try them beforehand if you're not sure if you'll like it. I also appreciate that you can just buy drinks downstairs versus waiting in those horrible lines for more tokens. Omg, the food!! While the selection could be better, what they have is awesome. I'm weirdly obsessed with the potato pancake and apple sauce. I could live off of that and the ginormous pretzels from here! I always just pick random sausages and don't actually know which is which, but I always enjoy them. I normally don't get them in buns - I like that option! I really wish the location was better. Like others have mentioned, the parking lot is terrible. It's very tight and we end up just ubering most of the time. I do like how they'll validate your parking if you end up parking in the large parking garages nearby though. I also find it cool that the tokens don't expire so if you don't use them, you can bring them back next time! We'll always be back! read more

Pretty cool place to hang out and grab some beers with a group of friends. There is plenty of space indoor and outdoor which is a plus. This biergarten works on a token system which means as soon as you arrive you need to line up to get tokens then go to the bar if you want drinks or head downstairs if want food. This works easily if it isn't packed but if it is, I imagine standing in separate lines can be time consuming. One token is a bit over $8 and that one get you a drink or a food item. The beer selection is decent around 19 beers to choose from. I like how they have backyard games outdoor such as beer pong, corn hole and oversize jenja. It's great for a warm day and if there's sun out. Downside is there are no lights or heat lamps at night. There is a small parking lot in front of the entrance, or you can park by a nearby garage and is free with validation. read more

Definitely a nice bar, the beer was great and the sausages were Amazing!!! Wish they had a baguette bun instead of a hot dog bun (which is not what you would get back in Germany.) Also the "potato salad" was not great and I'd actually love to show you how to make one! Overall great bar but small changes would make it more authentic and germans very happy!! I came here for a friend's birthday. Nothing special here during the winter. This is your average bar with your better than average selection of beer. It also has three floors: the bottom floor with an American theme and beer, the middle floor with long tables and live music, and the top floor overseeing the middle floor. Every floor has a lot of TVs as well. In the summer, this place turns into a backyard party - there's beer pong, large jenga, and cornhole outside of the bar. One thing I do not like about this place is their token system. Maybe it makes ordering more efficient? Who knows? And beer is a bit expensive. I understand it's Tysons and rent is probably high, but who pays $8 for a beer? Tysons Biergarten is not my favorite place to drink, but I will go to meet up with friends who want to drink there. read more
