Nehari and kabob combo
Zarin B.

A billion 5 stars for this spot. I'm from queens NYC so I'm SOO happy to have Ravi near me. I grew up on Pakistani kabobs and naans and was desperately searching for something to fill that void. So far have tried their boneless chicken kabob, ground beef shish kabob, and nehari. Their food is insanely fresh. Both the kabob combo platter and the nehari came with their chole which is probably the best I've ever had. Addicting stuff, would get an extra side of it next time. They also came with rice, salad, and tandoori naan. So much food!! Highly recommend stopping in. I'm excited to try all their daily specials!! Service and ambiance don't matter here because it's all about the food. Get your food to-go if you care that much.

We were in DC for the cherry blossoms and this came up as one of the recommended spots for good food. Husband being a big on kabobs we decided to give it a try. It's a small place for dining but the food makes up for it - trust me. We ordered chicken karahi, chicken tikka kabab, Ravi special kabab, and some samosas. All kababs are served with rice, naan and chickpeas (chhole). The chicken karahi takes a while cos it's made from scratch but trust me it's worth the wait. It was absolutely scrumptious. The chicken was so tender and I've never had a karahi like that and the naans were again made from scratch thereby served hot, they weren't like the usual Indian naans you'd find, but a tad more rustic as a counterpart from Pakistan. The chicken tikka kabob was juicy and did complete justice to all the flavors and spices I know of. Since I don't eat beef, the husband said he was gobsmackingly impressed with the beef kabobs, in his words they were tender, juicy and absolutely heavenly. The chhole were yummy and the samosas were a bang for the buck, they were not the typical Indian samosas I was used to but they were delectable no less. The food was soooo good that the day we were returning back to cleveland we actually ordered takeout for chicken karahi and samosas. TBH I think I still have a couple of samosas in my freezer, don't look at me like I'm loopy they're really good. This place deserves all the rave reviews they have and some more. The next time I'm in and around DC, I'll definitely be visiting Ravi Kabob House for sure.

The food here is exceptional. It's so ridiculously flavorful. I hadn't been here in a while and was excited to see it's as good as I remembered. I got one of the daily specials--a lamb and spinach dish that comes with a bread, chickpea side, rice, and a salad. The salad was just iceberg lettuce and raw onion and wasn't very exciting. But everything else was so, so delicious. Would definitely recommend this place. The menu says cash only, but they do take credit with a 3% surcharge.

One of the greatest place to get Pakistani food in Northern Virginia. Food is great. Amazing taste. I've been coming here for over 20 years. Quality never changes service is always great and friendly place is not more than a little hole in the wall small restaurant it's always pack, but that only goes to show the level of food and service the bacon sometimes you gotta wait a long time to get a table, but it is worth it. Everything is done in the spot cook fresh Bread is amazing. I currently travel from Stafford, Virginia, which is probably 40 miles away whenever I wanna have some good Pakistani food. The kebabs are amazing my favorite dishes. The Lamb shop that has never deviated from its recipe for 20 years. It's always amazing consistently, the other dish we enjoy. Is the chicken karahi he's always been done the same way that taste is amazing. I will highly recommend you guys come give a shot. You will not be disappointed.

Food is, as always, delicious. Love visiting this place on weekends, for nihari or paya or haleem specials.

Chicken Karahi (Landi Kotal style) Special for 2! This dish right here....was amazing! Soooooo goood!!

No-frills restaurant offering kebabs & other Pakistani staples at super-cheap prices. Came here with my coworkers for lunch. At the recommendation of a patron while we scanned the menu, we tried the Chicken Karahi and it was slammin'! The flavors and spices were all there. And, it tastes very authentic! The menu stated portion for two, but the dish can easily appease a party of 3 which we were. The karahi comes with 2 naans which were absolutely delicious....perfect for dipping and slurping up the bits of juicy marinated chicken and sauce. Also, our dishes came with a small side salad and tzatziki (cucumber-dill) like sauce that was a bit on the lack-lister side, but edible and complimented the spiciness of the main dish....which was all about the Chicken Karahi. Overall, great food! My coworkers and I left this place bellies full and half comatose from the delicious eats. We were useless at work to say the least for the rest of the day....and I desperately needed a nap. lol If you're looking for a decent desi place, with authentic Kabobs, Pakistani and Punjabi taste...then this is a place is worth a shot. Ravi Kabob House gets a good star in my book! Can't wait to come back and try some of their other dishes. My only grip is the ordering process. The restaurant has 2 entrances and 2 counters to order on opposite sides. The counter where you order karahi only takes cash, which was weird but the other counter took cash/credit card. Giving it a 4.5 star....1/2 star deduction because of the customer service & confusion in ordering.

Friendly and quick service, but I got the lamb karahi and it was 90% bone and a bit of meat.

The naan was soft and fluffy, and a great complement to the curry Staff and service was friendly; we did request our orders to be free from coriander and cilantro, but items still came topped with the herb; we were able to pick it off, somewhat. There seems to be a constant flow of patrons picking up catering and to-go orders, as well as some deliveries. Providing to-go containers and a brown bag was generous. Having been here few times and bern disappointed, when it is bustling and hard to get table, we…read morewere immensely relieved to find a table and quiet atmosphere for once at this joint of a place. May not look overly tidy nor fancy, but the staff do a great job on overshadowing the ambiance. This time we went for Poori, halwa, channa and accompanied by paki chai. So here is the thing. Throughout DMV, it is hard to find all the above that has the perfect flavor, not to crispy, nor too soft poori. Or channa too spicy, not well cooked or not flavorful. Or the tea just lacks that sting to the taste. After tried many poori halwa serving places Tosso, Niralla Sweets, Cha lounge, Shineys and one Bombay at Tyson's) I can say with certainty, that Ravi Kaboob has the best combo. They even had cashew in the halwa in addition to other dry fruits and the halwa wasn't all about sugar and semolina, but had the good blend so it accompanied well to the chai. Bottom line, if you can see away from the ambiance and just want to have the best poori halwa channa weekend breakfast, this is def place to go! But be sure to call upfront, because even though they are supposed to have it from 1100-4.00 in the weekend, they simply run out way before that time. Probably good to ask them to save your portions and confirm your timely arrival.

PLEASE READ BEFORE GOING:…read more I decided to give this place a try after being recommended their Chapli Kabobs and being told they were the best. I couldn't resist and decided to treat my mom to a dinner on Mother's Day. What we ordered: Chapli kabobs, lamb karahi, chicken biryani, lassi and chai. Food was okay, i honestly think any Pakistani moms' biryani would be better. Chapli kabobs were pretty good but not to die for. And i honestly think you can find better karahi for cheaper. I loved their chai the most out of everything. Total came down to around $120. Plenty of parking is available in the back. But it was completely empty when we walked in around 5pm on a Sunday. This place has ROACHES. When we got our naan for the karahi, it came on a skewer stand that came out of a wooden block. As soon as the waiter set it on the table and left, a baby roach crawled out of the wooden block. I killed it and told the waiter and the only thing he said was "Oh my God" and took it back to the kitchen. No apology or acknowledgment. But there was some yelling heard from the kitchen. We got our new fresh naan on a plate this time. After we got our chai and were relaxing, I look up towards the tv, there is ANOTHER ROACH crawling up. I got the check and just wanted to leave. The bathrooms were clean enough but there was a leak coming from the flush handle in the women's bathroom and there was a bucket underneath for the water to drip. Overall, I would not recommend and would rather try the other Middle Eastern/South Asian restaurants in the area to try.
