15-A. Goat Karahi (for 2 Persons)
Varun S.

One of the best spots for kebabs and karahi. We ordered the goat karahi and chicken kebab. There wasn't much waiting, and even though the restaurant isn't too fancy, the food was prepared pretty quickly. Both dishes were delicious and full of flavor. Definitely a great place if you're looking for good, authentic food without the frills.

I pay $60. For two plates of food. One lamb kebab and chicken kabob together. And lamb chop. This is at least the second or third time that I have ordered lamb chops and they were not done. Took a video and have pictures. Totally ridiculous. Definitely no more chances this is my last time ever eaten at this place.

Been coming here since I was little with my dad and the food is always 10/10! The guys that work behind the counter are pumping out the food for everyone and have a hard exterior but they're truly softies if you just ask for what you need! The decor is rustic but is crowded and could definitely be updated but I'm not coming there for a fancy night out. I'm coming for the grilled chicken and naan!

Review for delivery only. I hadn't had Kabob Palace in several years but it was as good as ever. There was a large portion of lean perfectly cooked boneless chicken accompanied by a large fresh salad, chick peas and a large fresh piece of naan. I was hungry and it was still plenty of food for leftovers. This place has been around forever for a reason and I'll be back here again sometime.

Kabob Palace is a national treasure! I lived in DC for 6 years from 2015-2021, and I would come here often. The chickpeas are simply divine (and well-seasoned). The chicken kabobs are smokey and succulent. Even the salad was always crisp and packed with flavor. Nom nom. In addition to the food, the service was always top notch and the restaurant is oozing with character, from the stickers covering the walls to the rich diversity of patrons you'd find in line at the restaurant.

I'm surprised this doesn't have higher reviews. My dinner was some of the best middle Eastern food I've ever had The chicken was perfectly cooked and slightly spicy. Everything was delicious I was skeptical at first but this place will certainly be added to the rotation. It's a crystal city gem

Our family loves Kabob Palace so much. We discovered this 24 hour place during the isolation period and we've gone at least every other week since then. The place is usually pretty busy during dinner hours. The chicken and beef kabob always taste very tender and juicy. The chick peas have a little spice to them. The spinach is flavored very well. Inside dining is an option but the parking lot is a little tight. Recommend visiting!

Beef and chicken special combo

This place really hits the spot. Place was packed on Friday night at 10:30 and food took a while to get to us. We got a boneless chicken plate and a beef and boneless chicken plate. The boneless chicken I have to say is so juicy. Usually when you grill chicken it starts drying out, but none of the pieces even the next day after microwaving felt dry. Really impressive. The lentils over rice and naan felt like carb overload but it was really good. Portion size is pretty big. In hindsight my wife and I should have just got one plate to share. Also love that it's really close to Avis rental

This place is 24/7 and it's known by locals as a staple for food that you can get late night. Walking in, there is a lot going on but don't let it intimidate you. There is a menu that you can glance over to order food. If you like dishes ranging from kabobs to biriyani or curry based dishes, this is a place for you. I got the palace combo 2 which came with kubideh and boneless chicken served with basmati rice and naan. You also get two sides and they scoop a lot for you too! I got chick peas and mixed vegetables. For the price you pay, this is definitely enough to feed two people for it's worth. The food may not look appetizing but it's quick, late night food doesn't discriminate here. If it tastes good, thats all that matters to me. Fortunately it delivers and I can see why it's still a place to go to after so many decades later.

Mango lassi
RIZA L.

We had the kabob plate that cane with the meat, rice, pita bread, salad and another dish that was green and a bit spicy. Both meats were tender and well seasoned and were really good. The pita bread was huge and warm when it came out. Mango lasi was less creamy then what i would expect but was rich in mango taste. The place was small and had a few tables. Its not a fancy place but you go for the food. So you order at the counter, chose your food and you wait as they prepare it.

1. Chicken Kabob (Boneless)

Food was great, but the ambiance is not that great. It's a self service restaurant. it was not busy the day we went

Do they have buffet?

They do not have a buffet. There is an order line and you pick your food when it's ready

Do they have a kids menu?

I haven't seen one, but they're very friendly, I'm sure they can accommodate you if you ask for smaller portions

Do they have any gluten free options?

There are some! There is a chickpea thing that is tasty and this spinach/potato thing that is yummy!

High Protein, Strategic Eating…read more If you are navigating a serious health journey or, like me, currently in the middle of a "Biggest Loser" contest to start the year, Arlington Kabob is a strategic goldmine. Under normal circumstances, I would happily indulge in their fragrant basmati rice and that delicious, fresh-baked tandoori naan. However, staying disciplined requires a different approach, and the team here makes it effortless. The High-Protein Order Hack: I ordered the Chicken Shawarma platter but requested a total carb-swap. I asked to replace the rice and naan entirely with a double portion of vegetables. I went with the chickpeas (channa) and the sautéed spinach. The result is a nutrient-dense, high-protein win. The chicken is lean and perfectly charred, the chickpeas provide steady energy and fiber, and the spinach adds great flavor and micronutrients. The 50% Strategy: Even without the bread, these portions are significant. I ate exactly 50% of this platter for lunch, which provided an estimated 38g of protein and 450 calories. It is the perfect meal for someone who wants to feel satisfied but stay strictly within their caloric and macro goals. Community Inspiration: I have to give credit to local Northern Virginia foodie Mya Yoon. Her social media posts documenting her own health journey and "smart eating" choices inspired me to start looking at local menus through a more intentional lens. Following the modifications she shares online has been a game-changer for my own progress. Service & Vibe: The staff here deserves a specific mention. Despite my request to skip the core staples of their menu (rice and bread), they were helpful and happy to modify the order to meet my goals. It is rare to find a spot that is both a neighborhood staple for comfort food and a reliable partner in a weight-loss journey. Everything was delicious as always. If you are looking to stay on track without sacrificing quality or flavor, this is the place to do it.

We came here for an early lunch, and we ordered: +a Combo Platter for 2 - this came with chicken kofta, beef kofta, and a choice of chicken, lamb, or beef kabob - we went for the beef; for the sides, we went for the potatoes and the lentil soup, and for the rice, we went Quabli style Out of all the meats, we thought the chicken kofta had the best flavor; both the beef kofta and the kabob were just 'okay'; the beef kofta had a more game-y flavor - not sure if they had mixed it up with lamb first; the beef kabob was overcooked and dried out, more on the chewy end, which was not enjoyable. The Quabli-style rice didn't really enhance anything - the carrots were way too soft, and there were hardly any currants, which was disappointing. Potatoes were forgettable, as they were bland; the lentil soup was piping hot, but could have had more lentils - it seemed like just broth with just a spoonful of lentils in it. The white sauce was more dill-heavy and ranch-like which didn't complement the kabobs and the kofta at all. There was complimentary tea for those who dine-in, which was nice, but the tea wasn't steeped well and was too watered down. Staff were friendly, and there's limited parking in the tight strip plaza lot. +chicken kofta +game-y beef kofta +dried-out/overcooked beef kabob +avoid the Quabli style rice +friendly staff +limited parking in lot available

Not sure how difficult it is to attain a reservation, but my friend made one for 3 the day prior to our dinner on a Sunday evening in one of DC's busiest weekends (America's 250th birthday, UFC at the White House, etc.) We were sat outside on the patio. No one in my party had had Afghani food before, but we were all open-minded and adventurous! Together, we shared all of these dishes: STARTERS starters tasting flight: one of each starter - 24 *bolani: afghan flatbread (choose two fillings) pumpkin (v), beef, onion potato *sambosa trio: a crispy phyllo pastry trio of spinach (v, vg), shrimp & beef - 12 *shamee kebab: small patty of minced beef with potatoes, yellow split peas, eggs, spices, served with cucumber mint yogurt, pickled onions & house-cut fries - 15 (gf) *shore-nakhot: chickpea, potato salad in vinegar, garlic & cilantro (cold) - 7 (v, vg, gt) *pakowra: gram batter cauliflower, spinach & potato- 14 (v, vg) AFGHAN DUMPLINGS *mantoo beef: dumplings with ground beef, topped with a yellow split peas & carrots tomato sauce finished with strained garlic yogurt - 4 pcs --16 / 6 pcs - 22 SIGNATURE DISHES gabuli palow: rice pilaf, boneless braised lamb, carrots, & raisins - 35 (gf) veggie - 22 (v) FROM THE GRILL lamb shank: bone-in braised lamb, herbed tomato sauce, basmati rice -- 38 (gf) My favorite dish overall was the gabuli palow. There was something so novel about the sweetness of the carrots paired with raisins in the soft rice and decadent lamb. Just amazing. Overall, Lapis is a culinary adventure with attentive service, chic ambience, and masterfully crafted foods -- worth every penny.

Love the photos on the walls giving that family vibe. Candle lit as the sun went down. Nice vibe. Meh: Shrimp dumplings: 3/5 shrimp in a dumpling. No flavors stood out even with the sauce. Beet salad: 3.5/5 this was an arugula salad with maybe half a beet cut up on top. The description of ingredients were flakes of toppings. I had to request more beets as there were few. I could have had more nuts and cheese, but I just wasn't in the mood to really complain. Chopawn: 3/5 lamb chops, tender but lacking flavor. "Picked" salad on top, not pickled. Just cut up onions and peppers with sumac. Buranee Kadoo: 3/5 also ok. The garlic sour cream sauce needed more tang.

As for the service, there was always someone filling up our waters and our waiter was very nice checking in every now and then. The only downside of the experience is at the end when the waiter was boxing up all the food for us. Very sweet that they do this but when boxing up my partners food, they only boxed up the rice and they got rid of the lamb that he was looking forward to eating more of later. So that was kind of a disappointment for us. I think if we go again, we would request to box our food ourselves since I'm not sure why they decided to get rid of all of his lamb.

Got a combo of chicken kabob and shami kabob along with a side of their borani banjan/eggplant dish. The eggplant was honestly one of my favorite things- it's a must get in my opinion. Homey dish with incredible flavors! Their naan is fresh and pairs well with it. The chicken was good, but I've had better honestly. The shami was a little disappointing as I expected more flavor and it was slightly dry, but good. Their rice was so tasty and I loved the sweetness coming from the carrots an raisins. Of course, the sheeryakh was great- quite a big portion for one person, but I loved the texture. It tastes very similar to the Indian/South Asian/Pakistani ice cream, "Kulfi." CONSTRUCTIVE FEEDBACK: Service needs improvement. The whole time I was there I had to keep looking for waiters to make eye contact with to ask for menu, water, paying, etc. It took about 10 min or more for me to have to call a busy waiter over just to look at the menu- no one came over on their own. Things just took time for a Saturday night- plus they were hosting an event on top of this. Needless to say, I've never had service like this, but the vibe and food made me be not as harsh.
