Got to visit while in Arlington for work. Connected with a few local friends that I had not gotten to see in a while. The staff were friendly and the space was well lite and cozy. We sat by the wall of windows which was a bit chilly that day as it was very cold outside, but also provided a nice view out. The food was all very tasty. It's been on my list for long while! They moved from by the Trader Joe's to right below the bueno vida sister restaurant. The Food: I was able to grab at the bar just in time for happy hour. The happy hour is $6 basic cocktails. I did grab the buffalo pork belly which is their take on buffalo wings. They are so flavorful and delicious. You do get a lot for the happy hour price so definitely a steal. I got one of the cocktails off the main menu called the PPP which is bourbon with grapefruit drink. It was very tart and refreshing. It took awhile to get a server attention but I ordered the seafood tagliatelle for $38. It was mussel, shrimp and scallop scampi pasta dish. It was huge and delicious. I had to take some home with me. I wasn't impressed by the dishes especially for the high price tag. The food is good but not anything special. I'm glad I came and to cross it off the list but I won't be back. The Service: It was a Monday night. There were so many servers hanging out by the host stand with a manager. They were actively ignoring customers and in their own world. The main bartender left to get something and I couldn't get any service although there were so many servers actively not trying to engage with me. I understand at the bar, you would get less attention however the restaurant was basically empty with servers looking bored walking around. Anyways, the main restaurant is on the bottom floor and the bueno vida is the top two floors. They have glass windows from floor to ceiling which is nice to watch sunset by the bar. I stopped by The Green Pig Bistro in Clarendon while visiting friends and family, and it was a really enjoyable brunch experience--perfect for catching up with people you haven't seen in a while. We started with the cinnamon roll appetizer, which was just the right amount of sweet without being over the top. For my main, I had the stuffed waffles, which had great flavor, and you could tell everything was made fresh. The only reason I'm giving it four instead of five stars is that the food came out a bit slower than expected, and it did get a little noisy once the brunch rush hit. Be sure to get there earlier on the weekends when they open to avoid being kicked out for existing mid-day reservations. The wife made the decision to finally try it so we drive over. As we enter we can understand the allure as it is nicely decorated and looks the part for a pleasant dining experience. Waitress and hostess are very nice and we are seated quickly. We go on a Sunday afternoon and there are numerous typical brunch offerings. I go with the smoked salmon benedict and add a hashbrown. My dining companions select the stuffed waffle with bacon and cheese topped with eggs and the huevos rancheros. Hmmm...was expecting much more. Everything is just mid. The salmon is a bit on the salty side and the $5 hashbrown may be worse than a McDonalds hashbrown which would only cost you $1. Don't add on a hashbrown here. It is a travesty to have this frozen hashbrown on the menu for $5. Anyway, I won't be back as there are many other brunch options to choose from. Disappointing. read more

I was meeting up with a friend that I haven't seen in awhile and we both chose this place because we liked the menu. It's right in Clarendon and directly across from a parking garage which was a huge perk in my book. We had a great waiter, he seemed to be new but was getting into the groove of things. We had the deviled eggs, shrimp and grits, egg sandwich and sweet stuffed waffles. The deviled eggs were probably the most disappointing. I love eggs in most forms but found them to be a little one-note on flavor. The texture of the mix was smooth but I felt like it should have had a thicker consistency. Very overrated. Went for brunch and they gave us a table that was wobbling so badly our drinks kept spilling. When we moved they fussed at us that we couldn't sit at the next table over because they had reservations. Like eff off and put them at any of the other empty spots. Also, no one ever came. They "fixed" the table and forced us to move back with it still having a pretty substantial wobble. Also know when ordering waffles you are getting ONE WAFFLE. That's it. For like $14 or whatever. What a joke. Barely any fruit on it either. My coffee was also cold, as were my poached eggs -- which by the way came out soft boiled and not truly poached. Came here for a company early holiday party and did not leave super happy. They do have a second floor that could be used for private parties and that was spacious and convenient. Having said that, the service wasn't very good. They messed up the salad on our table and forgot to bring the greens. They just brought the prosciutto separately and kept it on the table. The old Green Pig Bistro was incredibly special to me. I kissed my wife for the first time there on our 2nd date. It was a go-to for special occasions. We had our wedding rehearsal dinner there. It is the first restaurant we brought our daughter to. The food and beverage menu was exciting and challenged us to try new things and we almost always ordered a bunch of appetizers rather than mains out of excitement for variety--though we also looked forward to the plat du jours. Everything felt scratch made--even syrups for the cocktails. It felt hidden and special, and it was 5 stars every time. The current Green Pig Bistro is just a completely different restaurant. With the menu, chef, location, and staff all different they should have gone ahead and changed the name as well. Without the memory of the former iteration to compare it to, it would likely stand alone as an okay place. It's cute and the staff were very attentive and the food was good. But it is no longer special. In comparison to the former location it feels like it took a step towards consolidation and standardization. "If we order from the same beverage distributor as the restaurant I own upstairs too, we can keep our costs down". The menu is smaller and all the favorites are gone. the staff wear name tags. There's a kids menu. But it's in those choices that the place has lost its soul. There's no doubt that running a restaurant is hard and I wish them the very best, but it's no longer an exciting destination for me. My girlfriend was craving ribs, so we found the GPB had ribs and decided to go there. It was a bit later, around 8:35p.m., so they informed us that the kitchen was closing at 9 p.m., but, we were prepared and already had everything ready to order! She got a Angry Orchard and I got a Sam Adams Oktoberfest, had the Maryland Crab Dip for an app and then she got a half rack and me a full rack of ribs. We subbed Garlic Mashed Potatoes and Broccolini instead of coleslaw and hand-cut fries. And then two orders of Two-Layer Cheesecake. Unfortunately, the drinks took about 20 minutes after the waiter noticed we hadn't got them yet. The crab dip came about 10 minutes later. The crab dip was super tasty and decent thickness and the bread was very crisp as well! GF said it was a bit salty, but I didn't think so. The ribs showed up around 10 minutes after the dip. Sadly, we only received regular mashed potatoes and not garlic ones, which would have been better. But the ribs were AMAZING and mixing the broccolini with the crab dip are HIGHLY encouraged! they hit the spot! Cheesecake was pretty darn good as well! All in all, good meal! On top of that, it was 9/11 and active duty and retired military/first responders got their meal FOR FREE, which I didn't realize until after I ordered! I went to brunch a couple weeks ago and we found hairs in the food - not just one plate but multiple of the plates. They addressed it by bringing us new plates and then taking the dessert (cinnamon buns) off of our check. None of the food was appetizing and the cinnamon rolls which I recalled being good were not allowed to proof properly and underbaked. We ended up not eating them after a couple bites. Unfortunately, they need to correct several issues in their food preparation. I will not be going back due to this unfortunate experience. I had not realized that they moved locations and thought I was trying a new restaurant. And then I looked at my previous Yelp review at the old location - LOL. Well the food was still spectacular. My french onion soup was a bit bland compared to how good it was the first visit. And the shrimp and grits were actually too salty this time around. Overall, I thought the Green Pig was great! The food was tasty and the service was good. One issue was that the booth seating was very uncomfortable. Some of the bench seats were very sunken in, and there was even a wire spring popping out from under the bench. I had to ask to be moved to another table because the exposed wire was poking my legs under the table. The second table was wobbly. They need to update their dining furniture. Seating issues aside, the dining experience was good! We ordered the corn bread skillet and crab mac n cheese to start. The corn bread was excellent. I really liked the mac n cheese, but my husband thought it was too soupy of a consistency. I had the Big Italian salad, and it was exquisite! It's a huge salad that's colorful and full of flavor. The cheesy bread on top sealed the deal. The salad was a winner! My husband had the Burrata and prosciutto appetizer for his meal, and he thought it was just okay. My friends had the scallops and the fried chicken special, and I think they both loved their dishes. The fried chicken meal was a lot of food. It looked scrumptious. I have been here numerous times over the years and am never disappointed. This last trip I got the croque madam waffle, which was very interesting and enjoyed a lot. Not sure it would be something I would usually try cause the waffle with savory, but this really worked and everything was cooked really well. Waffle was nice and fluffy and not too heavy. Egg cooked to sunny side up perfection and the sauce was tasty. My mom got the cheddar grits and eggs and was loving how much cheese was on the grits haha. Our waiter was really nice and gave actual opinions when asked about menu items, which I appreciate. Can't stand the response "everything is good", so always enjoy a genuine response! It was tasty but idk if I'd get it again, I feel like experiencing once was enough. Burrata was alright. Food comes out pretty quickly and they have a solid variety of drinks. Salmon Crostini- Cooked salmon shredded with a cream sauce and garlic bread. Salmon was good, I was expecting it to be like lox but it tasted amazing with the garlic bread crostini. 8/10 Lobster Ravioli- A couple large pieces of lobster. A group of friends and I went during happy hour menu which I believe is 4-6pm or 3-5pm. I don't like that you can only order happy hour menu at this time and I think that strongly impacts this review. The service was prompt and friendly. The place was empty which was nice but started filling up after 5pm. The drinks... AMAZING but the food... I feel like this review is and should only be taken into account for the happy hour menu time but the food is sub par and overpriced with small portions. They were out of one of the menu items everyone wanted which was disappointing. If it's drinks and a small bite perfect but if you are hungry and looking to stay awhile I am not too sure about this spot from 4-6pm I recommend the French 75 cocktail if you like something more sweet the pineapple pleasure is second best! read more

It's a shame it's taken me so long to post a review for Green Pig as it's my favorite restaurant in my neighborhood and a staple for anytime we have friends or family in town we want to both wow and provide a multitude of options for. Green Pig has both indoor and outdoor seating and even has a pet friendly patio with the seasonal "yappy hour" that is a neighbor staple! For a date night dinner I love to sit at their "counter" seating to watch the action happening in the kitchen - a chefs table experience! The menu is always evolving based on what's fresh which makes it fun each time we come in. Portions sizes are 10/10 and there is something for everyone on the menu. My personal favorites: -Scallops- my most ordered dish! -cornbread & honey butter as a started -specials fried chicken & ribs (these can turn a bad day to a great one and are the definition of comfort food) -lobster ravioli (or any of their homemade pastas) I was blown away by the generous portions of fresh lobster outside of the ravioli as well as inside. -Pork Chop- a pork chop the size of your forearm complete with delicious sides. -the coleslaw; I don't know what they put in this stuff but it's addictive! -double chocolate cake (whenever they have it you must order it.
