I'm alittle late to give my thoughts but Gabe and George is the duo. I thought I never needed, but have been missing my entire life. They are hilarious while going back-and-forth and entertaining everyone to still take care of the clientele and make drinks immediately most of the time I don't even see them communicate they're just making everything work even though we hear no words it's like a look and they just know how to work with each other. Was taken care of at the bar by Sam, whom has made the take out order experience SO much better, ending up having a cocktail while everything was getting ready and had gotten the chance to meet Kendall, which superseded expectations and double stamped on how well this establishment at this particular location is evidently operating. We couldn't even take our jackets off. I really like this place, but it was miserable most of the meal because it was so cold. But seriously, their breakfast options are amazing... huge fan of the grain bowl, which manages to be healthy and delicious. This is a big feat that so many restaurants manage to really mess up. And if you're not feeling like you give a damn about calories, then you're in luck. Get the homemade pop tarts and be sure to take the 20 seconds to ask about the seasonal one. Took the wife out for a quick brunch while running errands. We were pleasantly surprised that it only took about 5 minutes to get seated for 2 as a walk in. We ordered a peach Bellini and an espresso martini. The drinks were good quality given the typical high DMV prices. For entrees, the wife ordered the Farmer's scramble with the eggs cooked hard. They were very accommodating to this request, and the presentation and flavor was definitely there. For myself, I got the berry ricotta pancakes with a side of bacon. Man, that bacon was so satisfyingly crunchy! The pancakes were soft, pillowy, and the cheese was a welcome addition. We ordered a few of their tarts to go. Ted's has a nice outdoor terrace and nicely appointed dining room. Our sever, Edwin, was great. My mother enjoyed the Bronzino and said it was excellent. She subbed the brussels sprouts for sautéed spinach (which was okay). It comes with fingerling potatoes, which could've been cooked a little more. My dad enjoyed his fish and chips. The fish was good, but the highlight of his meal were the fries and we ALL agree! I had the short rib stroganoff, which was very good. That meat was so tender, you could cut it with a butter knife. My sister ordered it, but sent hers back as she did not care for it at all. She switched to the Bronzino and enjoyed that immensely. Another standout was the order of cornbread. SOOO good. Didn't even need the brown sugar/cinnamon butter that came with it. I'll definitely come again for other menu items. While this is my first review, it's not my first time at Ted's. I've come to this Ted's Bullentin twice now and enjoyed it each time. I feel like the 14th St location is a bit better, but Ballston doesn't disappoint. Especially those jalapeño popper wontons, absolutely delicious. I could eat those as my entire meal. I've also had the steak frites with chimichurri, another great dish. I love Ted's. It's like an old faithful. I've been a few times since my first review. So I ordered dinner online on Saturday evening. I hadn't tried their steak and cheese before so decided to give it a try. I like that their fries are skinny. The steak and cheese comes with cheese, onions, mayo and something else I can't recall but didn't want, and it was easy to omit those items while ordering. But there was no way to request anything else. So after ordering, I called and requested slices of tomato and shredded lettuce be added. It was no issue. After picking up my order I ventured downstairs to the see what was new in the food court. Ended up ordering something and had to wait. So by the time I got home, my Ted's sandwich was no longer hot. I mention this because I think it really affected my perception of it while eating it. It was underwhelming to be honest, so my fault for taking so long. But also, the bread used is too much bread, and the cheese is too sharp for my liking. The fries were good though. But I still love Ted's. read more

Met some old friends here for dinner and had a nice time. It was crowded and lively but the service was pretty good despite the number of diners. The portions were super big...I could have eaten half of my chicken biscuits and been full. I had some sausage gravy on the side and it was pretty good. Up where i live in NYC, we don't have good biscuits or sausage gravy so I was pleased this was so tasty. We had some pop tarts for dessert and they were good but I don't understand why some people are gaga for them. The decor is really nice. Our waiter was great. Food was amazing! I ordered Chicken and waffles, with a side of cheddar grits. Everything was amazing! My sister had the eggs, bacon, cheddar grits, and toast. We really enjoyed our brunch. We actually made reservations the night before online. It looks like they get pretty busy quickly. I've only dined at Ted's Bulletin once before at the 14th St location about 9 or 10 years ago for a brunch date. I recall that the food was rich and indulgent but not particularly crave-able, except for their homemade pop tarts which I would frequently pick up. I was in the Ballston area recently and decided to see what they had to offer for dinner. I ordered the fish and chips and my girlfriend ordered the steak frites along with their Brussels sprouts. The fish could've used more seasoning but was crispy and moist. The flank steak was cooked well but the portion was small compared to the sides that accompanied it. We also ordered slices of their devils food chocolate cake and carrot cake to go, which were decadent. The service was very friendly and attentive. The restaurant felt like a slightly upscale diner. Overall, I would recommend dining here but maybe stick to more of the classic diner dishes and desserts. read more

Have been wanting to try Ted's bulletin forever! Finally got the chance to. Came by with my boyfriend on a Sunday around noon and only had to wait like 5 minutes for a table to free up. The ambiance is like upscale diner vibes - the seating was interesting. There was a giant pillar dividing a big table into a small cozy two-seater and a larger 4 seater on the other end. I got the cinnamon toast crunch latte hot and it was SO good!! Not too sweet and had actual cereal pieces in it. Boyfriend got a Chinese jade green tea (which was just a mug of hot water and a tea bag so maybe not as worth it). We shared the seasonal raspberry rose Ted's tart and I have to say I had low expectations for it but I actually loved it. It was buttery and kinda flaky almost? But the raspberry was delicious. Not too much filling inside it, but it didn't need a ton bc it was already so flavorful. I ordered the huevos rancheros as my entree and my bf got the Norwegian Benedict. We both loved our dishes. Mine had three big tostadas loaded with beans, egg, cheese, salsa, and chorizo pieces. And his had a delicious salad side, with two Benedicts made with a ton of smoked salmon (like they gave so much, super worth it) and Ted's tots as the base. We definitely finished our plates and were perfectly satiated - it was a good amount of food but not so much that we would need to take home leftovers. When the server came by with the check after clearing our plates we asked to pay with inKind and it was super easy and quick to do that. Pro tip: You get 20% cashback if you pay with the app! Birthday Meetup after a Squid Games competition. PARKING: Plenty of garage parking in the Ballston Quarter. Parking with Parkbetter was pretty inexpensive as in I spent about $3 for 3 hours. Even if you overshoot how much time you need, it will prorate the amount automatically when you leave the garage. Just make sure to input your license plate. AMBIANCE: The restaurant was pretty noisy but we luckily were placed in the backroom where it was MUCH quieter. Also in visiting another Ted's Bulletin in DC, the decor was much nicer in this location. SERVICE: Service was exceptional. We had a very personable and attentive server. TED'S TARTS $4 S'more Brown Sugar & Cinnamon Blueberry Cheesecake The running joke is that no one at the table thought it would be pop tarts when it came out. When we think of tarts we were thinking pastries. I did get to try a small piece of the blueberry Cheesecake. It was a little sweet but good TRUFFLE MAC & CHEESE BITES $13 creamy tomato sauce, parmesan, chives These were pretty delicious. Slightly under seasoned but I would still get these again. GRILLED CORN BREAD $7 cinnamon butter, chives This was a nice surprise. I wouldn't consider it cornbread as it was much lighter and not as dense. But the cinnamon butter complemented it well. JALAPEÑO POPPER WONTON $12 cilantro lime ranch, micro cilantro I was worried these were spicy but it was fairly mild. For someone who doesn't eat spicy food, it was a safe option. While I didn't order this, it was stated that they weren't crazy about how it was filled. It was mostly bread and the middle was the filling. Made it feel a little unbalanced. BLACKENED SALMON $28 buttered grits, garlic sautéed spinach, spicy creole crab sauce This item was customized as the grits were swapped out with rice and they got the sauce on the side. I did not order this but it was stated that the salmon was really delicious, a great size and seasoned well. PANCAKE STACK OR THICK-CUT FRENCH TOAST $15 2 eggs*, hash browns add choice of meat +4 Probably the most basic of the bunch. Pretty average. FABLE MUSHROOM GYRO WRAP $18 crispy braised shiitake mushrooms, tomato, cucumber lettuce, feta cheese, harissa, tzatziki, house fries I did not get to try this. But visually it looked like a hearty gyro and it was stated that they enjoyed it. GRILLED SHRIMP TACOS $19.5 marinated shrimp, corn tortilla, shredded cabbage, pico de gallo, cilantro lime sauce, mexican street corn OVERALL: We would return. My family and I just went here for lunch, and it was not a good experience. Most of my complaint is about the service, and the food wasn't good enough to overlook it - I'd probably give the food 3 stars by itself. We arrived and were seated at a large booth with our menus. Then, we waited for someone to take our drink orders, and waited, asked for help, and waited, asked for help, and waited some more. After about 15 minutes, the third person we asked actually helped us and directed a waitress to our table to take our order. She finally brought us some water, and the first salad arrived for our daughter. Alas, no silverware, so we searched for our waitress. We couldn't find her, so asked someone else for help, and waited. This time, after waiting another 5 -10 minutes, the second person we asked (when we'd given up on the first) brought us napkins and silverware. Onto the food (once we were able to eat it): -Steak frites - fine but nothing special; much better version at Mussel Bar down the street. My daughter got the Chipotle reduction on the side, and we were glad she did, as it tasted more like Mexican black beans than anything else. -kids waffle - probably my favorite thing, especially for the very reasonable price, but again nothing special in the way of flavor, and it needed a little salt. Also, the whipped cream needed more sweetness/flavor and the maple syrup was fake. -harvest salad - my wife really liked this one. I didn't try it, but it looked appetizing -patty melt and fries - the melt was OK, but needed more thousand island (couldn't find the waitress to ask for more), and some of my caramelized onions were pretty raw; also, the bread was a little burnt in some places, imparting an unpleasant bitter flavor. Fries were good and crispy. Everything needed more seasoning. Mini chocolate pie - we shared this for dessert. Again, it was just Ok. The chocolate filling was good, but there was far too little of it, and it was not distributed throughout evenly, so some pieces had a lot, while other pieces were all whipped cream.
