Hearty food that is creative and well done! We loved the brussel sprouts as an app and my turkey burger was perfectly cooked. They also served popcorn instead of bread, which was a fun and tasty switch up. Service was fast and friendly. Atmosphere was busy but not loud and very clean. Would recommend!

One of the best places to get shrimp and grits! Flavorful and good texture. Location is nice and can accommodate groups (we had 11 in our group). Street parking is available. Kid friendly

Me and my sister came here for dinner. Started off ok with a really nice hostess seating us and taking your appetizer order. We got the nachos that were sweet and spicy with the fresh jalapeños. I really liked them with the chicken added. After that, it was down hill. We never had a server come back for our order so we had to ask someone who our waiter was so they could take our order. I think they were short staffed but there wasn't any communication going on to make sure people were being taken care of. I ordered lemon pepper wings and a side of fries. I don't recommend. Fries came out warm and wings were over cooked with hardly any lemon pepper on them. If you want to get a nice beer, it's probably a good spot to try but otherwise, I personally would pass.

It's a solid, middle of the (open) road, experience. Free popcorn, plenty of seating, and decent service. The covered patio is excellent whether you're alone or with friends. I've dined with Open Road three times now and I feel comfortable saying it's solidly OK. The portions are fair, the prices are city prices, and the food is good. It's not knock-your-socks-off fantastic. The service could be a little more prompt (the water will be empty for a while). The experience is similar to that of a chain restaurant and that's why I'm a 3. Highlight from this past trip: bruschetta, bruschetta, bruschetta. Absolutely delicious. We ordered mac & cheese and bruschetta for the table and an assortment of burgers, fries, a poboy, and salad. Again, wouldn't discourage anyone from making a visit. There's something on the menu here for everyone.

Good American cuisine. Had the crispy chicken Cobb salad and really enjoyed it. My colleague had the shrimp poboy and it looked really good too. Good lunch spot

I have been here a few times mostly with coworkers for the happy hour for a group meal. Good food and service each time I've visited. It's located right by the Rosslyn Metro station. There's indoor and outdoor seating available and plenty of bar seats if you walk in. It can get busy during happy hour so keep that in mind you are are visiting without a reservation.

Attended with a 25+ group. Friends quoted below who participated. This was a group effort! 4/5 Service was very attentive and managed the large party extremely well. 3/5 Ambiance: generic urban 3/5 Food: Brussel sprouts w blue cheese: good combo of crunch of brussel sprouts and creamy blue cheese. 9/10 4/10 Calamari and peppers: very spicy. Over cooked 6/10 Braised short rib: very tender- but under seasoned. Mashed potatoes and fired onion ring were good. Desserts: over all "To die for" 7/10 Peanut butter pie "silky" "Subtle nuanced flavor" mousse texture. Not heavy 8/10 Bread pudding: surprisingly good. complex flavors. Not too soggy. 9/10 Vodka mojito- amazing. Super fresh. Smooth. Delicious but not too sweet.

Average food. Delicious drinks. Great atmosphere. I had a burger and for some reason all places make them well done (even congratulations) and not medium.other than that food was decent, fries are more a hollow shells and not a full potato fry- if that makes sense? However the drink i had was absolutely delicious, ginger tea and whiskey, it was great. Atmosphere was relaxed and nice, service was great i really can't complain another it. Overall average place not much character. P.S. My ratings are based on whether I believe I could make a better or healthier version at home. If food/drinks/service impress me, I'll be happy to come back. If not the stars reflect that.

decided to try this place for lunch and was greeted with a unique touch--a welcome starter of popcorn. It was an interesting twist, though the water served wasn't up to the mark. For appetizers, we ordered the chicken bites, which turned out to be a highlight. The chicken was incredibly tender, with a perfectly balanced flavor that made it a delight to eat. For the main course, we went with the blackened salmon with spinach. The salmon was cooked to perfection, seasoned with just the right amount of spice to enhance its flavor. However, the spinach felt slightly underwhelming, as it seemed a bit too blanched for my taste. Overall, it was a good experience with a mix of hits and misses. A little improvement on the basics, like water quality, could elevate the experience further.

Loved this place! Such a great date night spot. The aesthetic inside was really cool and they had the lights dimmed down enough to make it feel intimate which I loved. Their selection of beers and drinks were great with so much variety. Menu options looked amazing. Their burgers were amazing, the veggie burger was HANDS DOWN so good!!!! I'm really impressed. We even took leftovers to go and everything heated up so well the next day. Our waiter was very attentive and kind, he was the best. You get free popcorn at the beginning of your meal which was kinda funny but we loved it! Make sure you check out the speak easy they have downstairs! Very cool vibes if you want to go down for a drink after your meal or just see the cool atmosphere.

I've reviewed Open Road before but I had to post again to shout out the braised short rib. Absolutely delicious!

    Short ribs. Were great.

First, the people were super nice. Our server, Lindsay, was great. The food was also delicious. The Peruvian chicken was amazing as was the short rib. And the beers were good and cold.

Swung by after hearing from friends that the burgers here are very good! My friend and I got the Open Road classic burger and the French Onion burger and went halfsies -- the Open Road burger honestly wasn't very flavorful, which was surprising. The French Onion burger however, was flavorful and delicious! The fries on the side were also deliciously crispy and hot. The Jambalaya pasta could have used some more sauce since some of the pasta pieces were dry. Service was pretty friendly, though not as attentive as I thought it would be considering it was pretty empty at the time we swung by. Nonetheless, we had a good experience here and I'll likely be back!

They had a cute outdoor seating space, however it was cold and rainy so we couldn't sit there. We had the fried green tomatoes, snd both got the salmon with two sides of your choice. I got Brussels sprouts and potatoes. She got Mac and cheese and salad. The salmon was perfectly cooked and potatoes were crispy and salty on the outside and creamy potato on the inside. Yum!! We sat there until they were sweeping around our feet and they were very nice about it even then. I rarely close down a place these days, so I was grateful they were accommodating.

The wait wasn't long, and the food came out in a reasonable amount of time. They also offer a Monday-Friday happy hour from 4 PM to 6 PM, which is worth noting. Now that we've covered the positives... I came with my family, as we usually go out to eat on Sundays after church. I ordered the shrimp and grits, my sister had the dark‑meat chicken with fries, that unfortunately had to be switched when they brought her the wrong white meat, chicken and fries. My granddaughter got sausage and grits. There are no pictures of the food because I don't recommend you come here if you're looking for real southern food. I personally won't be back and won't waste storage space on disappointment. The shrimp and grits....the portion was so small, I thought they accidentally brought me the sample plate. It should honestly be listed under "Kids Menu". The menu says it comes with chorizo pork sausage, but instead of sliced pieces like normal restaurants, it was crumbled so tiny I thought it was seasoning dust. When I asked about it, they told me it's "put in very small so you don't know it's there." Well... congratulations. Mission accomplished. You get six shrimp, and they claim the dish is "spicy". Please, the spice level was somewhere between tap water and air. Then there was the chicken dish. I tasted it, and my sister will give you the full breakdown in her own review. The skin had a nice honey flavor, I'll give them that. But once you get past the skin, the chicken was out here playing hide‑and‑seek with the seasoning. Completely bland. The fries were fine, not great, not terrible, just fries. Now, the bathroom: I was unimpressed. When you walk in, there were paper towels on the floor and toilet paper in places it shouldn't be. The handicap stall does have a baby‑changing table and some extra paper towel and tissue supplies, which is helpful. However, the toilet seat covers in the handicap stall need to be replaced, even though the other stall had some available. Overall, the restroom did not feel well‑maintained. Great service can't make up for food and facilities that simply don't deliver. This was a disappointing visit, and I won't be back.

When we made the reservation in advance, we called to ask if happy hour was everywhere or just at the bar; they said everywhere, so we booked a table. Plot twist, it's only at the bar / downstairs :))) We arrived 15 minutes early, so while they got our table ready, we ordered at the bar. 5 stars for the bartender. If I could review her, the host, and the happy hour prices in isolation, I would! They moved us upstairs, we sat down, and immediately saw the menus were different. We asked the gentleman bringing waters about happy hour and he sent the waiter over. The waiter, with about 2% helpfulness, shared that happy hour is only downstairs. I mentioned that we had called in advance to ask. We asked if it would be possible to have that menu or perhaps move. The conversation felt like pulling teeth. He said, with much dismissiveness, it was up to the host downstairs to move and if they had availability and left. (Fair, we move, he doesn't get his tip. An alternative? Give us the happy hour menu, still get your tip. Better yet, just be slightly helpful?) The host downstairs found us a table but shared it was booked at 6:15 so we needed to be in and out. It was no problem because we had arrived before 5 (early, remember?). Although, it took 15 minutes (I timed it!) for anyone to come bring waters or address us as their table. A little hard to operate with urgency when no one takes your order!! I got up, told the host stand, and they sent a server over, and he proceeded to come back all of three times. We also had to flag him down to get our check, while we sat with empty waters that were never once refilled. We had pizza, cod sliders, and half orders of aglio e olio pasta. The cod sliders were more breadding than fish, but the flavor was decent. The pasta was delicious. No five star Italian meal, but it hit the spot and the portion was plentiful. I didn't try the pizza but it was 12 inches, piping hot, and the two eating it couldn't finish it. The food came out quickly and hot. I think we spent under or just about $100 for four folks to have dinner + drinks, so the prices are really solid. Perhaps you get what you pay for though? Both of our male servers seemed annoyed to be dealing with us and mostly unhelpful. Noteworthy mention: there was a female server who was kind enough to bring us a brown paper bag for our to go box. She was running around and her tables seemed well cared for. Disappointed in my experience and the customer service.

A very nice touch to add a stem of Rose for the women. I would say that I gave it a lower star rating not because the food was bad. It was actually delicious, but probably the experience itself. The restaurant felt chaotic, and even though all the tables were not completely packed of course there were flowers everywhere people gathering with grandmother's mother's children, etc We were seated in a two people table and all the top past dishes started to pile up very quickly. Instead of monitoring, the progress of the finished dishes and removing those dishes due to space constraint, the dishes came from the kitchen, almost on top of one another, and at one point I had to hold a dish in my hand in order to make space to put a dish on top of another flatbread pan/dish, making things super chaotic. Also dishes had to be put on top of the menu because in order to order additional food, you need to leave at least one copy of the menu at the table. Overall, again the flavors and taste were good, though I might have had similar dishes from other places, and my partner commented that some of it is actually very close to the Capital One landing at DCA. I would just say that it was more due to the chaos and just the way that all the dishes piled up on top of us we felt like we were we had to eat super quickly so that we could stack dishes ourselves and create room at the table.
