Finally went to detour coffee and the pistacchio latte is so good. They use pistacchio milk which is different from other ones I've had in the area as I believe the other use whole milk. I also got the falafel smashburger. I felt there was a lot of bun compared to the filling. The food menu was extensive and seem to switch up often so I'll try something else the next time I go but think I'll stick with the pistacchio latte. Space overall was very nice but fills up fast. I went to Detour Coffee Co. and thought it was a good coffee shop overall. The coffee and matcha were both okay, nothing amazing, but definitely solid. It's the kind of place where you can reliably grab a drink and hang out for a bit. There weren't a ton of super comfortable seats, which is something to keep in mind if you're planning to stay a long time. That said, you could still go there to get some work done or catch up with friends. It has a nice, easygoing vibe that works well for both. I'd definitely return to this coffee shop! I ordered a speciality latte, which was on the pricier side at $11.50, but it was really good! First time trying pistachio milk which I thought was a cool offering. I also got the chicken Caesar sandwich and fries, very yummy! Inside the cafe is large, so there's plenty of seating to stay and get work done as well. And I have to shoutout the staff! The service here was great and very quick. This was one of the best London fogs I've ever had. The flavor was so rich and creamy. And you could see the seasonings and lavender flowers on top. The only thing I didn't like was that this place was kind of dirty even after arriving in the morning. The seating and everything was very beat up. So Went Here On A Thursday Evening To Catch Up With a Close Friend Who Discovered This Place Recently. Seeing detour coffee underneath Darna brought back so many memories from darna days. Aaah good times! Anyways back to detour coffee - the cute little Palestinian cafe that offers unique coffee flavors with a middle-eastern twist like the habibi latte made with walnut & date oat milk and the dubai chocolate latte which i will most def get next time because stealing just two sips off my hubs did not do the trick. It was delightful and just the right amount of rich and sweet. We opted for the breakfast burrito filled with Lebanese sausage, veggies, eggs and a bunch of other deliciousness. We also got the sandwich steak lines and that ended up being my favorite - the shredded steak was seasoned with aromatic spices and tasted delicious. I also tasted the maamoul (Palestinian date biscuit) but the sweetness level was soo subtle that it almost came off too plain. It was buttery but could have been sweeter. I easily found a comfy booth to await the food. I got the pumpkin patch latte and it was good. OJ is in the case and bottled. My friend got the empanadas based on them being popular on Yelp. It had a slightly spicy, tasty beef filling and a sweeter dough. We both liked it. He got the fries/potatoes instead of the salad and liked his substitution. I got the avocado toast. Although the coffee shop had a breakfast menu full of interesting options, I went with a more traditional breakfast of bacon, egg, cheese on an everything bagel. I thought my breakfast sandwich with a the side of potatoes really hit the spot, and I have no complaints about the food. Overall, the service was pretty good. Since I was the only person in the coffee shop at the time, all attention was on me. The coffee shop has plenty of seating and probably works well as a workspace. Also, the decor is quite interested with modern and old school fixtures. While I probably would not go out of my way to grab a cup of coffee, it is a great option if you are near George Mason University. read more

I might be a little bias but I love going to detour for the ambience, they have a lot of different events during weekdays for the community. I usually go with friends and we end up just hanging out and playing games. I personally get the mango hibiscus tea everyone I go, with the agave to sweeten it. I love it. I had a habibi chai and an apple turnover-- both were good and I would order them again. I liked the Middle Eastern options on the menu.
