Also if the line is too long for the register, you can order at the kiosk. The lattes here are amazing. Definitely designs can vary depending on your barista, but I've been here a couple of times and one of my favorites is the pistachio latte. Good nutty flavor and love the actual pistachio on top. It was my first time trying this cafe, there's parking around the corner for total wine, but the elevator brings you to the cafe! The service was good, but by the time I got there around 2 pm, most of the pastries were gone and all of the savory items were sold out. I was hoping for more brunch items but had to stick with mochi. The cashier, TL, recommended the white mochi but the green one was herbal and top tier, not too sweet either. Both had red bean inside. We did the coffee omakase experience today as a birthday experience for my husband and absolutely loved it. We did the best of 2025 tasting as well as the Five Frames tasting and it's clear how much thought is put into the tastings. The only thing I found meh about the experience was the food/bite pairings. But overall, this was SO Fun, SO tasty, and I love that the menu is ever changing. Our barista did an amazing job with explaining the drinks, pacing us, and helping us make decisions on drinks. The pride of the shop is a medium/dark house blend: 50% Brazil Cerrado Imperior NY2 17/18 screen Super Clean 50% Colombia Huila Supremo Super Clean I'm not a coffee connoisseur by any means so I can't say how well the beans were roasted or the quality of the espresso but they were sourced well and while I was underwhelmed by the pistachio latte, the final espresso paired well with the corn latte. Pistachio latte - 3/5 - is a syrup used for pistachio flavor in the coffee? It arrived sickly sweet, artificial and overwhelmingly bitter. I struggled to finish it. I booked the coffee omakase (yes, like sushi, but make it caffeine) as a little "new job, new era" treat for myself on a cold, rainy day, and honestly, the timing could not have been better. Sitting inside, warm and cozy, sipping through five thoughtfully crafted drinks while the weather did its gloomy thing outside felt indulgent in the best way. Even though a few of the drinks leaned chilled or cold, it still worked perfectly and actually made me think this would be an incredible summer experience too. The tasting itself is $44 (Best of 2024), and my total came to $61 with tip, which feels like an absolute steal for what you get. This is not just coffee being handed to you. Someone is focused on you, walking you through each drink, checking in, prepping everything fresh, and giving you space to enjoy it. It is attentive without being awkward. I went solo, and the couple next to me had their own barista as well, which really drives home how personal the experience is. Every drink is made right in front of you, and that is half the magic. The bubble espresso literally arrives as a bubble you get to pop yourself. The Ember Pine, which is coffee meets sangria, was a standout, with everything poured tableside, a pine cone lit, and a cinnamon stick smoking. It felt ceremonial, almost ritualistic, in the coolest way. You are not rushing, you are participating. You can switch to decaf at any point, and the final drink comes in a to go cup, which I loved. One thing to know going in is that the space is set up like a fast casual café at first, which briefly threw me off. You order at the front if you are grabbing a drink, but if you are there for the tasting, they seat you at the counter and create a completely different experience. Despite being surrounded by offices and shops, the space feels warm and inviting, like somewhere you are meant to linger. Tried a couple of their seasonal iced fruit teas (sadly I forgot the exact names), and they were excellent--light, refreshing, slightly bubbly, and not overly sweet at all. The fruit flavors were very prominent. Perfect refreshing drinks during the summer. I also had the rolled vanilla cake. The price was very reasonable for the portion, and the cake itself was incredibly soft, melting in your mouth. The sweetness was very mild and gentle, making it easy to enjoy without feeling heavy. The real standout, though, was the hot Premium Ichiban Matcha tea. This was so subtle in a creamy, smooth, early flavor, like a matcha latte, but I did not ask for milk to be added. Other things to note is that space is limited indoors, and the outdoor seating can get windy. It's always busy when I'm here, which i guess is a good sign. I had the most amazing and unique coffee experience here! Me and my friend are both coffee lovers so we decided to book the omakase experience. We were not disappointed. The employee was very nice and walked us through each coffee course. I had the seasonal menu, while my friend had the traditional options. Each course is so unique and we loved all of our drink options. The coffee shop is spacious and bright. You can also just order drinks from their menu. Parking can be challenging during busy times, but there is a parking garage in walking distance and a few spaces in the front of the restaurant. i stopped by gute leute, and right from the start i noticed it had a very upscale feel. from the interior decor to the seating arrangement and overall vibe, everything felt thoughtful, pleasant, and clean. what really blew me away was the menu, it featured such unique combinations that i honestly wanted to try everything. i opted for the maple latte, and it was truly one of the best coffees i've ever had. from the sweet maple cold foam to the perfect ice texture, it was an incredible cup of coffee. i honestly wish i lived closer to this café. the service was also quite quick and reasonable, it was about 5 to 10 minutes to get my drink. just a note: there are plenty of seats inside and bathrooms are available as well. read more

Came for the omakase coffee tasting. It really should not be called a coffee tasting. It was a beverage flight. They start off with you tasting just their espresso (which was delicious!!) and then you enjoy 5 more sweetened beverage. As a typical unsweetened coffee girlie, that was a lot of sugary drinks. But the size was small, it was a fun tasting. We arrived early, and had to wait a while to be seated. I guess the last group ran long? Another couple arrived after we did for the omakase tasting. And somehow got seated before us. That was....less than cool. However, the experience itself was really fun. We went for our anniversary and they threw in some slices of cheesecake. At first we thought they were giving us cheesecake for making us wait 15+min after 6 to be seated. Ha. Our barista was so kind. I wish we had tried both the Best of 2025 AND the omakase experience. You group does not all have to select the same option , and we didn't quite understand that If i had not just purchased two bags of freshly roasted beans earlier in the week, I'd have absolutely left with a bag of their delicious espresso. Was fully expecting the amount of coffee drinks to be too sweet or too heavy, and for me to be having palpitations from all the caffeine. Was pleasantly surprised that everything was very well balanced and although I did feel zooted (well caffeinated), my heart felt pretty good. Each drink was a curated experience. Patiently waited a year for a new omakase menu. Their signature drinks were too citrusy for my taste so I was excited for their 1st anniversary omakase menu. Parking was a breeze at 10am on a weekday, they even gave a $4 discount on the check to cover parking fees. Nieve - such pretty presentation, the coconut milk was yummy and I could've drank the whole thing by itself. After mixing the chocolate sauce and coffee in, it kind of reminded me of hot cocoa on a snowy day. The chocolate sauce was a little thick and grainy. Consuming this was a bit awkward because of the powdered sugar flying around and having to slurp up the berries on top of the drink. Midnight soleil - I was excited for this one the most, I was surprised it was warm! The mango bits were tart and not quite ripe, not sure if that was intended. But the drink was smooth and not acidic. It was less sweet than expected, I enjoyed the flavor pairing. Arctic noir - I admit I was quite full by this drink, which was more like a dessert. They did a great job with the ice cream, it was creamy and had flecks of vanilla bean. The non-alcoholic whiskey syrup smelled exactly like whiskey and was super sweet. I enjoyed the texture of the coffee caviar, similar to lychee jelly. I'm surprised they didn't serve this last since it was the sweetest. I would switch the order of the arctic noir and mojito vin chaud. Mojito vin Chaud - I love mojitos but this tasted more like warm berry juice with a splash of coffee. Supposed to be reminiscent of mulled wine, but the smoked cinnamon stick flavor was not coming out. The combination of mint, watery grape juice, and coffee was neither offensive nor particularly pleasant. I did not finish this drink. By this point I was tweaking very hard on caffeine. Honey grapefruit black tea - love that it came to go. Very pretty color and presentation, but the black tea flavor was weaker than the grapefruit. The sugar/honey tasted a little like aspartame/zero calorie sweetener which I didn't like. Overall, 10/10 for creativity but minus a star for some of the execution and service. Confused why they didn't take away any of my finished drinks, I ended up having an ugly pile of used cups on the side. read more

The coffee omakase at Gute Leute was truly one of the most memorable culinary experiences I've had in the DMV and I can't recommend it enough for coffee lovers looking for something off the beaten path. Gute Leute currently offers two omakase options- the First Anniversary ($42 per person) and the Best of 2024 ($39). The two menus do not have any overlap, so you can have a totally different experience with each. We opted for the First Anniversary menu, which included four prepared drinks, a welcome espresso shot, and a final parting drink you took with you to go. The to-go drink is the only one you have to choose; everything else is pre-set. When you arrive for the experience, there's a bar-like setup just to the right of the counter where you order; our reserved seats were right there. These were unlike any coffee drinks I've ever had before- they reminded me more of cocktails in how they were crafted artistically and the different ingredients used. There are so many different techniques, tastes, and textures employed, and the drinks themselves varied so widely, from a latte-like concoction that came in a martini glass (our favorite, the Midnight Soleil) to a course that included vanilla ice cream with coffee "caviar" and nonalcoholic whiskey-flavored syrup poured over it. We had a dedicated barista who guided us through the whole experience and explained each beverage and its preparation to us as they were made in front of us- it was so cool to see her working and see how the drinks came together. I've honestly never had espresso like this and it was amazing to see how different the profile of each drink was. I thought it was nice that they also offered a last drink to go so you can keep the experience going even after you leave. We ordered one of each, and while both options were great (the Honey Grapefruit Black Tea and the Earl Grey Glow), we loved the Honey Grapefruit Black Tea the most. This was truly such a fun and unique experience that was well worth the price. I personally like the Heavy Lavender Latte but they also have unique specialties like the Crunch Corn Cream Latte and Chestnut Cream Latte. I've tried this place twice after it having been on my list for about a year! First things first, parking either on the street or in the garage (paid- no validation). I wish the space was a bit larger but nice nevertheless- earthy modern? My first time: I got a green tea latte (hot) but I felt like I was getting sleepier- so I got the pink salted caramel latte as well. The pink salted caramel was iced but good- I feel like hot would be good but I think they only do it iced. My second time: I actually ordered a breakfast sandwich and a spinach and cheese bakery item...but after waiting about 10 minutes, I was called up and told they were out of it- they gave us a refund. I was lucky enough to get a reservation to celebrate the Gute Leute one year anniversary Coffee Omakase experience. And this was truly an exceptional experience which I have never had before, and I cannot wait to experience again. Each and every course with the Coffee Omakase has been carefully and skilfully curated to present coffee or espresso in the most unique of ways; not just with its presentation but also with the flavour profiles. There were five courses offered during this experience, and Sarah (the Barista that led the omakase experience) did an exceptional job at not only preparing each coffee course - but also talking us through the thought process behind the concept behind each unique drink. It's extremely difficult for me to decide on which of the five courses was my favourite, because they were literally ALL amazing.
