The atmosphere was relaxed, the restaurant was busy without feeling crowded, and both the reservation process and check-in were seamless. One thing that stood out was the hospitality. Because of my wife's food allergies, Austin, the manager, personally stopped by our table to make sure her meal could be prepared safely and that she would be able to fully enjoy her experience. After walking through a few modifications, he ensured everything was handled with care. It was a thoughtful touch that demonstrated genuine concern for the guest experience. The food was excellent, but what made the visit memorable was the people. We ate well, shared plenty of laughs with our server, and genuinely enjoyed our time there. Came here today for lunch with a couple of friends. The place is very open and light (lots of windows), with a modern feel. We each enjoyed our entrees, the weakest being the Ancient Grains Bowl. I really liked the spicy sauce in the Panang Curry. I would have liked a small amount of rice or even pasta to eat with the delicious sauce, but, alas, no. The service was fine. They serve water to the table that isn't chilled, so be prepared for that. And I drink a lot of water, and my glass was empty for a while until the server finally came around to fill it. That being said, once the server got the idea that I drink a lot of water, he did make an effort to check in more often. The wild-caught shrimp was fresh and snappy, the butter lettuce, cucumber, watermelon radish, asian herbs were crisp and flavorful, and the lemongrass almond sauce was delicious. Along with the shrimp bowls we got the Chinese Chicken Salad and Air Fried Chicken Tender Plate with Sweet Potato Chips. All excellent choices!! The salad was fresh, delicious and large portion! The chicken tenders were perfect, and the chips crunchy and tasty. Everything we ordered made my stomach feel so healthy; just good old fresh, healthy eating! We even ended the meal with the flourless chocolate cake. So, sooooo good. The waitress was sweet, helpful and friendly. And, the restaurant itself had a PNW vibe to it! We got started with some refreshers (I got the Bright Eyes and she got the Kale Aid). We tried a seasonal market salad to share, and I loved it. Just enough dressing covered every bit, and it was a great balance of flavors and textures. My entrée ended up being the Chicken Parmesan and wow... that was amazing, from the chicken to the spaghetti squash. I was frankly surprised at the mediocrity of the dinner I just had a True Food Ballston. My entree, the Chicken Parm, was rubbery. The side dish of pasta was unusual. Half was hot, but half was cold. The whole place gave off an air of a joint resting on a prior reputation and now just going through the motions. The food was fine, but given it's high prices, I'm not sure if it's a restaurant I'd come back to anytime soon. They have calorie counts on the menu, which is helpful for those who are looking to track their intake. For me, I don't want to know, lol, because it deters me from ordering what I really want. SEASONAL BURRATA - 16.50 I love burrata, and so do my friends, so this was the perfect appetizer to share. While burrata has a delicate flavor, I love the creaminess and the texture that it provides. They gave us a few slices of grilled bread which went well with the burrata. The bread wasn't toasted really well and I thought it was a bit too soggy, would have preferred a bit of that crunch. The vinaigrette went well with the salad (felt like there was a bit too much) and the greens were fresh and light. LASAGNA BOLOGNESE - 19 We were wondering how a lasagna could possibly be 450 calories, but upon receiving the entree, we understood immediately. It was tasty, don't get me wrong, but it looked and tasted very healthy. The sauce was made mainly out of vegetables and there was a light amount of ricotta or carbs in this dish. It's probably the healthiest lasagna I've eaten and will ever eat. Again, it was fine, but if you want that hearty lasagna that is a guilty pleasure and comfort food at the same time, the lasagna bolognese will not satisfy that. SPINACH & MUSHROOM PIZZA - 18 This was fine. The pizza dough is really thin and kind of floppy, so I needed the help of my fork to pick up each slice (otherwise all the toppings would slide off the dough). The flavors were on the healthier end. The caramelized onions provided a sweet and juicy flavor, and the mushrooms were delicious. The ricotta was minimal, but the bites that did have ricotta were my favorite. Overall, not bad but not amazing. If you want to splurge on a healthy dining experience, True Food Kitchen is a good bet if you're in the Ballston area. read more

My friend asked for a side of ranch and the waitress straight up forgot and then we had to re-remind her...oh and we got charged an extra dollar.
