I actually didn't love this as much as i thought i would. I was in Williamsburg after my sugaring appointment, and just so happened to stumble upon this bakery. As a NY'er, we hear about all these coveted places, and i feel like Levain is one of them. I decided to ditch my diet for the moment and grab a cookie to see what the hype was about. The indoor was great. The service was great as well. They moved quickly; we're super nice, and happy. Can't beat that. The ambiance was cool also. It wasn't too busy or too crowded. They had a cool coffee shop vibe. What i didn't know is that 1 cookie was $5! I was absolutely shocked by the price. Very much a whoa moment for me. I ordered the original chocolate chunk cookie. It was a thick cookie, but was it worth $5. I don't think so lol. With inflation and everything else happening, $5 shouldn't seem so steep, but i still feel like wow! Lol. The cookie was warm, and i broke it up so that i didn't completely break my diet. I ate it over a course of 3 days. The first day it was very chewy. Almost had that soft baked underdone flavor. Which i didn't hate. It definitely requires some milk if you ask me... but, the days after, it became a little firmer. Which i also didn't mind. The chocolate was good and rich, but for some reason, it didn't move me. I wasn't completely blown away by it, which is what i was expecting. Overall, i feel like this bakery is hyped. Ooh, this lived up to the hype. We had exceptional service from the staff here and waited for our fresh-made cookies on the patio outside. The cookies were warm and moist, and absolutely massive! Highly recommend the chocolate walnut or two-chip cookie - you can definitely share one between two people. Get a latte or cold milk to accompany your cookie - trust me, it's worth it! Levain Bakery is one of our favorite spots for cookies in NYC and we were so excited to know they opened up a location in Williamsburg which is the closest one to us. We got all 4 flavors of cookies as we always do and they were still delicious, soft inside with crunchy layer. We also got their Coffee Pound Cake, which was puffy with great coffee smell. I had known about this bakery for a long time but I refuse to wait an hour in line. So I was happy to see they opened a location in Brooklyn. I told the cashier I knew about their store and excited about trying their cookies. He was so sweet in giving me recommendations. We got the chocolate cookie, the one with peanut butter and even got the banana bread free! Get it all warmed up and dig in. The cookies are great warmed up. Everything was so decadent and creamy. I definitely want to try all their cookies. They were busy. There was people in and out the entire time. Either picking up or taking orders to go. Understandably so, great cookies! read more

The 4 stars is for their Oatmeal & Raisin cookie. So buttery with a hint of sweetness and the perfect consistency. Their famous double chocolate chip cookie wasn't all that. It had way too much chocolate. The chocolate to dough ratio was way off and I don't like that. The staff, however, helped in my choosing of which cookie to get so that was appreciated. Overall, I do hope in the near future they add some dairy-free cookies to their menu. read more

I love Levain. Ever since I had their cookie almost a decade ago I fell in love. For me, the chocolate walnut is the best cookie on earth (although, I might go as far as to say their raisin scone is even better). I preordered individually wrapped cookies for my wedding (very easy to do for events!) I'm able to order delivery from this location to my apartment, which always makes convenient gifts and treats, A true New York classic! read more

This location is definitely on the bigger end and still had a nice cozy feeling. The staff were super nice and helpful. I do agree that this location might bake the cookies slightly longer than the Manhattan locations but it still tasted good to me. read more

Love Levain and was excited that there was a new location opening up in Williamsburg. Came in on Saturday at 8pm (one hour before closing) and they still had all the cookie flavors. We were hit with that familiar delicious cookie smell and got the dark chocolate PB cookie / chocolate chip walnut (the classic!!). While the staff was super nice, we were disappointed that the cookies were cold. They were not warm at all and were not gooey when we broke them in half. That's not to say the cookie wasn't good, but this isn't the familiar cookie I'm used to from Levain. I was disappointed since my cookie craving wasn't satisfied. Who serves cold cookies!! read more

Glad a Williamsburg location opened up! No more need to travel to the Upper West Side for some cookies. They are a lot less fresh and hot than the UWS ones as the crowds are not as long here so the cookies are less right out of the oven. That being said the cookies are still pretty good even if not fresh out of the oven and it's tasty. read more

Me and my friend stopped in this bakery after a disappointing lunch. The bakery was clean and practiced COVID guidelines. They had a few antibacterial bottles around the bakery. The staff were cool and patient. I've been to this bakery at one-off their uptown locations so I was anticipating our goodies would be yummy. Lol. Prices were reasonable. I ordered the chocolate chip cookie and a slice of banana chocolate chip cake. The cookie was good and hit the spot. Its very sweet and I ate it in a two day period. However, that banana loaf was an "omggg where have you been in my life" kinda taste. It had the right balance of sweetness and was very fulfilling. I ate that loaf in one sitting and was happy I didn't have another one. Lol I'm definitely coming back to this bakery to get another banana loaf and focus on some of those other loaf slices options. Oh Levain, how do I love thee.. My wife is finishing up her haircut and I mentioned I'd like an iced coffee. (Little does she know I have warm cookies in my future..) Waiting outside and on line, I have a young woman saying she's excited to have Levain open in Brooklyn. Have we ever experienced their cookies? I smile and say I have but in reality, I'm an experienced Levain'r. These kids don't know the struggle of walking downstairs in a tiny waiting area filled with flour, all to get an amazing cookie. Now, they can order on Caviar and have them delivered? In my day... This new space is beautiful, it's like the other new location on the Upper West Side. The cookies at either location? Still taste amazing. But choose wisely! Some of the selections may not be your first choice: like chocolate chip walnut (this is my personal favorite) the dark chocolate chip and chocolate peanut butter chip tie for second place in my heart. So there you have it, Levain bakery rolled out a new location in Brooklyn. If you haven't had their warm cookies made from their lovin' oven then it's something you should experience. Rejoice! Levain Bakery has listened to me and millions of others and is now baking up a classic chocolate chip cookie! It's called the Two Chip and as the name suggests, contains both dark and semi-sweet chocolate chips. The Two Chip is generously studded with quality chocolate and sports a gooey middle. Amazingly, the cookies still have that freshly-baked tender feel even after a couple of days.  Levain's newest location, its first in Brooklyn, opened July 1st, and you can tell it opened its doors recently since it's sparkling and shiny. An employee was out front monitoring the number of patrons inside. I am keen on the fact that this Williamsburg location feels massive in comparison to the tight basement-like Upper West Side location. If you don't want cookies, they've also got some other temptations like muffins and such though my visual system was focused only on the cookies. These cookies are hefty (about 6 ounces, $4 each) and are perfect for sharing and impressing friends and family members. All this typing about cookies is leaving me pretty sure I'll be dreaming about Levain tonight! read more

My friend and I was in the neighborhood and we both were craving sweets and so we decided to grab a cookie each to meet our needs. Once inside, the person that greeted us was very friendly and welcoming. We asked a lot of questions and she was great. Told us which one just came out of the oven in case we wanted them cookies hot and which one is the least sweet. In the end we both choose the chocolate with walnuts and shared an oatmeal cookie as well. Taste wise, the chocolate/walnuts was certainly warm and gooey. Though it was way too sweet for my liking and I didn't feel like they put enough walnuts. As for the oatmeal, there were way too many raisins but I guess that can also fall under personal preferences. Overall, I like this shop and the people that works there. This cookie shop was brightly lit and you can see the kitchen in the back. In my mind...that's the best backdrop for any restaurant or eatery can have. Cookie wise it's $5 a pop (yikes) though I can tell they used great quality ingredients so that's justifiable the price and since it's so indulgent, it will only be consider a treat whenever I need to satisfy my diabolic sweet desires. Huge Levain fan! I have been to the Bleecker St and 74th/UWS locations prior to this. We pulled up late Sunday night around 9:30 pm (they close at 10) and were greeted very politely. The cookies were fresh (and still warm!! ) we ordered Two chip and the special Coconut caramel. Realized we needed milk so ordered some to go and were graciously given a large milk that was also very fresh. Headed back home and dug in to what have been the most consistently delicious cookies I have had since I first tried them earlier this year. read more

OMG! What a nice surprise to see Levain pop up on UberEats for delivery in Greenpoint. I literally couldn't resist ordering not one but two slices of their famous Lemon Loaf. It typically sells out quickly at the NoHo location. Also ordered a slice of the Banana Chocolate Chip. Now on to the good part ..the flavor 1. Lemon Loaf: Sadly was a bit lackluster in comparison to the OG and NoHo locations. I didn't get the typical burst of lemony goodness that it's known for, not to mention it was just a tad bit overcooked at the bottom. I couldn't even bring myself to eat the second slice bc it wasn't worth the calorie consumption. 2. Banana Chocolate Chip: It was okay, my boyfriend enjoyed it far more than I did. Not a show stopper that's for sure. Try it if you dare. All in all, I got my hopes up only to be let down. I ended up paying more in service and delivery fees (plus tip, ofc! come on, who do you think i am?) than I did the actual treats which would've been worth it if the taste reigned supreme as per usual. Perhaps this was an off day for them. I'll try again to be sure. read more

My favorite cookie place in the world and a must have when I visit New York. The chocolate chip-walnut cookie and the dark chocolate peanut butter chip cookies are so good it's a shame that you can only get them fresh in NY. The cookie has crispy edges and an ooey gooey slightly undercooked center. Sometimes I pop one (really a portion of one because it's a thick cookie) in the microwave for just a few seconds to get the center warm and melty. I mean yeah, their cookies are undeniably delicious. The chocolate peanut butter is a 10 typically. However, the one I got from this location was a little over-baked. Their cookies are iconic for the crispy outside and gooey inside, but this one didn't live up to that. The fall cookie was also a letdown. I love a good fall flavored dessert, give me all the pumpkin. But there was something off about this. Would not order again. Giving it 3 stars because their other flavors are almost always a hit. The two chip cookie is insane. Next time I'll stick to that one. Like I said, they are delicious, there's no denying that. It's mandatory to get Levain cookies when I'm visiting New York. I remember the first time we ever went to a store a few years ago, one of the Manhattan locations where the line was out the door and down the block. The cookies are worth it and I feel in love with the Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Chip. These are big, dense cookies that many try to imitate, but there's nothing like the original. I love the Williamsburg shop since it's usually not busy at all when I stop by. On our most recent visit, we did see a line form when we were outside and had already gotten our cookies, but it moved quickly. The staff is efficient and the store is clean. There is currently no indoor seating but they have tables outside. The Levain love is real and I'll always return for more. read more

I have been to levain in the past and always make it a stop in New York if i a visiting with friends who have never been. They are popularly known for their cookies and people all over the world post about them. While i do like their cookies, it is not the best cookie i have ever had. I usually get their $5 walnut chocolate chip cookie and it must be eaten fresh. These cookies are quite large and decadent so you definitely should share with someone else. The texture when it is eaten warm is a light crunchy exterior with a soft interior that is more gooey. While their cookies are really good, they are really heavy and once you save it and it cools down, the cookies hardens and the cookie is not crispy and gooey anymore, but has more of the crunchy texture. This is all about personal preference but you should definitely warm it up again so you get that texture. read more
