Dark Chocolate Chip Cookie Banana Chocolate Chip Loaf
    Cheri S.

So, I got the chocolate banana bread like I normally do and it was devine as per usual. I want to preface my review by saying I expect for things to be a little different because this is New York, there's a bigger audience and rush. My only gripe is that my hometown levain cuts the slices bigger and that makes me feel like I wasted money at this location. Alas, I also tried a cookie for the first time and while good, I will stick to my banana bread. The staff was patient despite the rush. There were a few different options that piqued my interest but it was so crowded, I went with something reliable.

Heard so much about their famous chocolate chip walnut cookie and boy it did not disappoint. Massively oversized cookie loaded with walnuts and gooey chocolate chip. A bit steep at $5.75 per cookie but heck, not every day everyone gets to enjoy a calorie bomb cookie such as this. This Levain is bright, spacious and clean with a cheerful staff.

No line when we were there. Can't go wrong with their chocolate chip walnut cookie (unless you're allergic). It was so crispy and soft and the chocolate was perfectly melty!

First time NY, 2nd time I've been to Levain Bakery. Best cookies I've had all trip and I've had 5 different shops/ bakeries. Joshua was very attentive and helpful. Let us know in advance that there would be. A 6 minute wait for freshly baked white chocolate macadamia cookies. 100% chance of going to Levain any time I'm in NY.

I've been to a lot of bakeries as I have a sweet tooth. I really loved their cookies, business model and friendly customer service. They have several locations in New York and I found one in my visit to Williamsburg, Brooklyn today. Our server was really nice, explained all their cookies, gave some great recommendations and she was on the money. Their story is of two friends back in the 1990's who started baking bread for local restaurants from their bakery on West 74 street in Manhattan. The word "Levain" in French is leavened bread. They were also tri-athletes on the side, they made the chocolate chip walnut cookies to keep their energy up. They made a sample batch and I guess their customers loved them. The rest is history. They can ship anywhere, donate any unsold goods to local charities at the end of each day. They use fresh ingredients, the cookies weigh almost a half pound. They have many other baked goods, have drinks and it's a nice store to take a break at. We had the walnut chocolate chip cookie, the chocolate peanut butter cookie and the rocky road cookie. Everything was very clean, easy checkout and no waiting time when I was there. I highly recommend them and understand the hype.

9/10 experience. The customer service is great! The workers look like they genuinely want to be there and are accommodating. We went in on a crazy busy Friday night and the line went through the door, so we had to wait outside but only for about 5 minutes. The wait was about 10 minutes long altogether, then we had to wait for the cookies themselves as they were baking. The ambiance inside the store itself is cute. I love the trimmings on the walls and ceiling, the light fixtures, the collage of pictures on the wall, color scheme, and cute balloon decorations!! The only complaint I have is that the cookies were not fully baked (or at least they seemed to not be baked). I don't plan on defaming this establishment, but l've had Levain cookies plenty of times before and they seemed to be thoroughly cooked. I understand it was super busy tonight, but the outer parts of the cookies were fine while the center was still quite soft. It almost tasted like straight batter. Overall, we really enjoyed our trip here and will be returning! The prices seem very fair, we only ended up paying $23 for a dark chocolate cookie, chocolate chip cookie, lemon cookie and a whole wheat bread which was huge!

Delicious cookies. The cookies here are thick and cakey. My wife ordered a chocolate chip walnut cookie to share. I had to eaten cookies from Levain before, but never fresh, but that didn't compare to eating one fresh from the bakery all nice and warm and still gooey in the middle. I would definitely come back for more! They are big cookies so one was more than enough for use to share.

Cookies were really good. They were definitely huge, as advertised. They were kind of muffin-esque in my opinion. Very good still, but not necessarily the best cookie ever ever had. Definitely top 5 though! Wasn't disappointed and will try again. The atmosphere was quaint and the server was friendly. They specialize in more than cookies, but I can't really imagine trekking all the way to this location and not getting at least one. We got two!

I stopped in here yesterday afternoon and got an oat milk latte and caramel coconut chocolate chip cookie. I wasn't sure which cookie to get and the woman behind the counter was helpful giving her recommendations. The latte was good and the cookie was great. It's a pretty big and thick cookie, I would definitely get it again. The inside was nice and clean, there's a couple tables and stools to sit.

We ordered one strawberry and one strawberry banana crêpe. They were filled with strawberries and bananas, and the outside was drizzled with glorious Nutella, which is a hazelnut chocolate sauce . The banana and strawberry not so much as to me that didn't really have much of a taste, but maybe that was because the rest of it was super flavorful and over powered the fruit. Having a dessert spot in the neighborhood that is open late night and is serving flavors of our culture is nothing short of a dream come true. Not so great for my weight loss goals, though haha. Thank you, Moose. I came in here, and the place was absolutely buzzing, with groups of people enjoying their late night desserts- a testament to how much we needed this spot to just open and thrive and exist. I don't personally like cream Kenafa so I haven't really tried anything off their menu yet, but the Dubai chocolate crêpe is really calling out my name, and I am just going to bite the bullet and try it one of these days. I did go in to sample their Dubai chocolate. As a chocoholic, I am on a low-key search for the best Dubai chocolate bar in the city. This bar did not disappoint. The filling to chocolate ratio was perfect. However, I do feel that there is an over balance of crispy kanafa in the filling. I think it could use more pistachio cream and be a little on the runnier side. Can't wait to come back and try that crêpe. Until I am able to make that trip back, do stop in and enjoy a sweet treat in this cute little dessert shop. It's also Palestinian owned so you know you are supporting the right people and the right cause while satisfying that sweet tooth craving. What more could a customer ask for?

Anyway, I was in Brooklyn with my brother to see a concert and had just finished dinner. We had some time before doors opened so we decided to grab a little ice cream before heading over to the venue. Farmacy was steps away - it all seemed like it was meant to be, so off we went. Farmacy aims to capture the nostalgia of an old fashioned soda shop and ice cream parlor. Immediately upon walking in we were greeted by aesthetics - the tile, fixtures, and decor totally give off that vibe. There are a few tables to sit as well as a large bar area with stools; I also noticed a few tables set up outside as well. The traffic flow is set up so that you order first and then have it served to you after sitting. Browsing the menu, I noticed they have a selection of ice cream scoops, shakes, egg creams, specialty sodas, hot chocolates, and a large variety of sundae creations. Since we were there for ice cream, we decided to split a sundae -specifically the Sir Twix-a-Lot. This was chunks for shortcake tossed in caramel and topped with vanilla ice cream that was coated in a chocolate shell. Overall I thought the sundae was solid - but the combinations of textures weren't my favorite to be honest, mostly with how the shortcake played with the ice cream. It wasn't bad though - the flavors definitely gave the Twix aesthetic. My only other issue with the dish was that because chocolate shell was used, any residue at the bottom was hard so you have to chisel it if you want to savor any last spoonfuls; I guess that comes with the territory. Service was good - everyone was friendly. It wasn't too busy when we were there so we had our selection of seats and our ice cream was ready pretty quickly. Overall, I'm glad I finally tried Brooklyn Farmacy out - they have a large selection so I would definitely return when I'm in the area again.
