The extra dollar for whipped cream would be nice because the their homemade whipped cream isn't sweet, so it will just thicken up the drink and give you that extra texture oooomph that you'll appreciate. Torino cafe is basically coffee added to any hot chocolate of your choice. That was tasty with dark chocolate. You definitely tasted the coffee and it was less thick than regular hot chocolate (which was on a thinner, sippier side). You can sample ice cream to make your selection. It's all very sweet, so if you're looking for a less sweet option go with Belgian dark chocolate flavor. For a $18 banana split you get three scoops of ice cream and a caramelized banana. Not a big portion for such hefty price. The tiny addition of toppings didn't make this banana split come together into a cohesive dish. Would get something else next time. Definitely not a good deal. Young lovely girls at the cashier were super friendly and accommodating. The not so young gentleman with a mustache who brought our order to the table was very dismissive and rude when we asked him to please bring us a correct order (he carried multiple orders and was harried to be done delivering them and barked something incoherent at us when we asked for help). read more

This is an overdue review, I've been here before but this time I sat down inside as it was a pretty hot day. I knew I wanted to get a couple things but while there I cooled off with a small cup of ice cream. All their ice cream is homemade, and looked delicious. I decided to go with cookies and cream which was full of crumbled cookies made in house. It was SO good, great texture and not over spun. It wasn't too sweet, just enough. Next time, and yes, I will be back, I want to try the caramel or hot fudge on it. The gentlemen helping me at the counter was very nice and helpful. At home, another day I tried the raspberry cayenne bon bon. It was excellent and I usually don't like dark chocolate. I know the combination sounds slightly different but trust me, it was delicious. The selections were actually not that unique considering they have many options. We ended up getting the chocolate cake because so many people were raving about it in the review. The first time I visited The Chocolate Room was about 4 years ago. My friend and I tried their famous chocolate chip almond cake and fell in love!! We made the trek down to Brooklyn from Uptown and decided to go all out so we ordered our slices with a scoop of ice cream on the side! I briefly moved out of state and the cake left such a memorable impression. I'm finally back in the area 4 years later and I HAD to visit The Chocolate Room to see if the cake was just as good as I remembered. Well, it was delicious and well worth the wait!! The texture of the cake is dense but it's also light on the tongue and the cake itself is so moist and flavorful. They serve it warmed up which really elevates everything. I skipped the ice cream this time because the prices went up a considerable amount. The presentation wasn't as picturesque or impressive as the first time I visited (they garnished the plate with chopped almonds and other cute toppings with more caramel sauce). The cake was good but it also didn't blow me away like the first time. Overall I was happy with my decision to go back but I won't be dreaming about this cake like I did the first time haha read more

I really like the Chocolate room, because they sell high-quality food and very tasty chocolate. So 4-5 stars for that. However, today I was blown away by a perverse and surreal experience. I bought 2x3 pieces of cake and naturally assumed that I would be given a 'chunk' of the cake, which I could then cut into 3 pieces, or that 3 (if not 6) pieces would be packed together. Instead, I had to wait forever for some packaging extravaganza to take place, then was shocked to see that each and every piece of cake was packed separately using an insane amount of plastic and paper. I ordered 6 pieces of chocolate cake, not an avalanche of garbage! They could have at least asked me how I wanted things to be packed up. When I expressed my dissatisfaction with the wastefulness, I was told that "this is how we do it", and "there is no other way for us to pack it". The latter is most definitely untrue (see photo). Very disappointed by this. Please at least ask your customers if they really insist on you maximizing garbage production. read more

Now that the weather is apprehensively improving after what feels like years of winter, I have resumed leaving my apartment again and going on walks. With this new life change, I have found myself with a new goal of sorts - leave no stone unturned, or actually no neighborhood business unexplored. I have walked past The Chocolate Room countless times for years, saw many happy people walking in and out of it, but it wasn't until recently that I finally checked it out for myself. What I founds was sweet treats galore! A variety of cake slices, cookies, ice cream, hot chocolate and coffee are all great at the Chocolate Room, but what I have been gravitating to lately is their large selection of truffle (obviously of the candy, not mushroom, variety). Roughly twenty unique flavors to choose from offers for a fun quick treat with a minimum guilt factor. Also, the granola at the Chocolate Room has forever ruined all other granolas for me - it is that good. If you stop by, make sure to walk deeper into the store and check out the cute seating area facing a green outdoor garden. This is the treat destination I did not know I was missing, and now that I have found it, I will be periodically popping into hopefully forever. read more
