With the sunny and hot weather in NY, ice cream is always a good idea. This little shop serves ice cream, macarons, and drinks from a window. They do have a couple covered benches in front for you to enjoy outdoors. I got a medium gelato cup ($7) with three flavors: pistachio, orange blossom, and strawberry basil. I love how pretty all the flavors were infused together with a refreshing taste. The orange blossom was undetectable though, but still good. Very cute gelato shop that opened in Carroll Gardens. I'm not sure if they've been around long but I only started going there this summer. Loves: + Yummy gelato with interesting flavors like green tea white chocolate, orange blossom... Creamy and delicious gelato worth having every now and then. It was a pretty hot day so we decided to get something sweet and cool. Gelato is always a good idea! We ordered a pint with both mint stracciatella (a natural flavored mint gelato with flakes of dark chocolate) and fior de latte (a sweet creamy flavored gelato). Both flavors were insanely good. Staff were pleasant and service was great. Now you can walk into the shop since it has been renovated instead of just ordering at an open window. I love wandering the serene streets of Carroll Gardens. Dolce, with their delicious gelatos and sorbet, is a perfect example of the many lovely establishments which inhabit this neighborhood. Whether on a long stroll or just popping by on the way to Key Food, grabbing a dessert from Dolce is always a treat. You order at a counter set up just inside the door and they have plenty of outdoor spots to sit at. Mixing and matching flavors is encouraged. Their business hours say they close at 10, but they were still open close to 11- score!! They had cups/cones of gelato for $5-6, a small sundae for $8, even a whole hand-packed pint for only $11! (Maybe I'm just used to New York prices, but that seems cheap compared to other luxury NY ice cream brands). But I knew what I needed, and that was a large sundae. $10 for about half a pint of gelato, 2 macarons, whipped cream and a topping. The three young ladies working that night were really excited to make it. I told them to go nuts and get creative with the flavor combos. The even more friendly owner encouraged us to try all the flavors - there are about 8-10 flavors, and they're all delicious. I ordered a pint from them that I received in a brown bag and placed it on my bike handle and biked home. I had headphones in and didn't notice at all that it broke through the bag at some point. Yum, yum, yum, yum, yum, yummmmmmmmmmmm! This place is great, excellent gelato and sorbet made all in the back of the store. All the gelatos are gluten free, all the sorbets are dairy free, and all the flavors are just delicious. They were kind enough to let us taste almost every flavor. (Helps that we were the only ones in the shop.) I went with half blueberries and cream gelato and half strawberry basil sorbet. It was the perfect combination. Every bite was delightful. Literally every time I had the strawberry basil I stopped and said "shit, that's fresh." So, so tasty. Rest of the people in my party went with fior de latte, which was soft and dreamy sweet milk, cookies and cream, which I think was probably the fior de latte with cookie chunks mixed in, which I personally thought it benefited from, and the serious chocolate, which aptly was seriously chocolatey. I never had it when it was located in Red Hook, but went this past weekend, for the first time, to the Carroll Gardens shop. Oh! My!!! Wow! I got half mint straciatella (chocolate chip) and half espresso straciatella. The flavors were incredible. My son had chocolate and my friend had cookies and cream. I just can't say enough. Texture, flavor...all supreme. My dog stole my son's cone when he was only about three licks in, and he immediately started sobbing. The owner immediately replaced the treat. Minutes later, we were talking and she (the owner) asked if she could take a picture of my son. I said yes, and when he "posed," my dog once again robbed him of his cone. It was hilarious and painful...and replaced again! What a treasure this place is. I haven't yet tried the macarons, but you can bet I will. RUN, to this storefront. read more
