Let's start with the gelato. It was creamy and good, but my chocolate gelato was a tad bit too sweet. My husband had bourbon chocolate gelato, and his was less sweet and very delicious. Stopped by here yesterday after ending up on the Brooklyn-bound Governor's Island ferry and landing in unfamiliar Red Hook. I will possibly be back just for this place! Excellent ice cream. Rich, not-too-sweet chocolate, and the lemon sorbet is light and tart and a perfect contrast to the chocolate. Delicious ! Stopped in while on a bike ride and was pleasantly surprised. Had a small gelato. Their small is around 5 dollars. The cup is a good size holds a good amount ! I had half mango sorbet and half cookies and cream. The mango was clearly made with fresh mango which is light refreshing and awesome. Cookies and cream was creamy and delish. Much lighter feeling than most gelato I've had but it was still very good. Left me feeling good They also offer soup espresso and tea. Great place! Definitely something to try, I would probably go to Red Hook just for their ice-cream... You need to try their affogato, one of the best I've ever had (I followed their recommendation to have it with their "flor de leche" flavor). I went there with three friends, we tried 6 different flavors in total and they were all super good!! First-timer!!! Gelato virgin here! I WAS NOT disappointed!! I can't believe this was my first time trying this place down the block from me! (Now I'll probably end up the "Dutchess" or something very soon! They seem to have some unique, rotating flavors, and new surprises! I kept it safe for my maiden experience: one scoop of salted caramel, and one scoop of what I think was called 'Serious Chocolate?' Yum! I especially fell in love with the chocolate (which I believe they always have on hand). It was so rich and tasty! It almost reminded me of chocolate mousse flavor, if it had a little bit of a liqueur hint to it (idea?) as the 2 flavors melted a bit, I swirled them together, and that was also a great idea!! I had gone in after seeing an IG post from them for a special today of Mint Stracciatella (I guess kinda like chocolate chip mint....) I had a taste, and it was good but different. I love everything chocolate/mint. I may hafta go back and try it again. Incredible gelato! Holy cow! I got three pints: the serious chocolate, fior di latte, and strawberry basil sorbetto. SO GOOD! The consistency and flavor were amazing. The wafer cones that are offered with it are special as well. They are much more flavorful then your typical wafer cone and compliment the gelato and sorbetto perfectly. The chocolate was rich and flavorful, the fior di latte tasted like a perfect glass of sweet cold milk and the strawberry basil was a beautiful marriage of sweet and tart with a lovely complexity added from the basil. If your an ice cream lover like myself do yourself a favor and check this place out! Ps. I mixed the fior di latte with some strawberry basil and it was outstanding ! read more

I provided some feedback on Yelp and was immediately messaged by the owner herself, I really appreciated her reaching out. You can tell that customer service is her first priority. I would also advise them that the coffee/espresso prices are too high. I would come here frequently for that sort of thing if they were lower. read more

I was prepared to hate this place after walking inside, choosing my flavor, and then noticing that a small cup of ice cream is $5. The medium cup is only one dollar more which is a much better buy. That being said, the flavors are delicious! We tried spiced pumpkin, hazelnut, and coffee and all three were delicious. Service was very friendly and the gelato overall is some of the better gelato I've had. I was visiting Brooklyn to see some wonderful friends and happened to stop into this fantastic, new gelato shop. I can't say enough good things - the gelato is the best I have had in this country - homemade and bespoke and mouth-watering. I had tastings of chocolate and Tahitian vanilla- both were incredible. Then I ate an entire bowl of blueberry and lemon which were also delicious. The owners are lovely and welcoming, the atmosphere is fun and modern with warmth. There was a constant stream of customers who were happily eating gelato, served with a smile. My friends and family had such a great experience here recently. This cute place just opened on Van Brunt Street, and I'm sure we're going to be regulars. Dolce is cool and modern in design and offers a curated selection of home-made sorbetto and gelato as well as coffee drinks. The owners are incredibly warm and friendly and let us taste several flavors - I loved the white mint and chocolate gelato but settled on two amazing scoops - strawberry and banana gelato. In this awful heat they icy-cool a/c and sublime frozen treats are just what the doctor ordered. I can't wait to see what they offer in the fall and winter. Hot chocolate anybody? Ok I don't know where to start. I'm so glad we have gelato in the neighborhood. I live nearby and this is well needed. But oh what a sad place! Ok positive things first the gelato is absolutely amazing. Creamy and tasty. I had amarena. Wow. Truly delicious But what can I say about the place...this was such an opportunity to make something nice. That big space upfront with those lonely black chairs and tables. That tiny ice chest with the mini bins of gelato... No shakes. Umh through a small door in the back I spotted interesting machines and yes when I asked the nice gentlemen who served me I was told that yes indeed he made all the ice-cream right there! Why not out in a glass wall and show off that amazing kitchen? I would love to see it! The shop has zero atmosphere and feels empty and lonely. So sad. It's almost October and winter is coming. I fear the worst... Better come up with a plan B and start serving some hot chocolate there. read more
