    Blackout Cake
    Pamela S.

This bakery has my all time favorite chocolate cake, the Blackout! Whenever I visit, I know I will be consuming at least 6 slices during my trip. It is absolutely craveable! The seating and service were good but I can't recommend their Chai latte. It was overly spiced and didn't seem freshly made.

Absolutely magical to be able to walk into this brightly lit bakery at 9pm on a weeknight to pick up a treat, and have a line. The staff moves fast and everyone was thrilled with their food. I got a chocolate canoli and it was decadent. The shell seemed like it had some granulated sugar under the chocolate which was a bit much, but I guess if you're opting for the chocolate covered canoli "a bit much" is the way to go. I want to go back for the carrot cheesecake. The selection is seemingly endless.

So as a mama of three kiddos 6 yrs old and under, there are SO MANY instances of birthday parties, holiday parties, and random celebrations throughout the year. i must commend Mia's Bakery for being the most reliable AND TASTY purveyor of cupcakes for all the celebratory milestones. Their website is easy to use, and they take orders over the phone as well. Beyond being a convenient option, the TASTE is what has me coming back. Every cupcake has been wonderful - flavourful, moist, and with frosting you *actually* want to eat! My kid's teacher even told me some holiday cupcakes i had ordered for the class were "sooo yummy". i've also used Mia's Bakery for cakes annd cupcakes for work and rec'd similar reviews. While they're a bit far from my Flatlands/Marine Park neughborhood, i'm always happy to make the small trek to get delightful cupcakes. One of these days i'll stop in and try some of their other selections. 10 out of 10 recommend!

Mia's Bakery is hands down one of the best bakeries in Brooklyn. Everything here is consistently delicious, from the cakes to the individual dessert slices. I ordered a custom Grinch cake for my holiday Christmas party and it was a huge hit, not only was it adorable, but it tasted amazing too. Super moist, flavorful, and not overly sweet. I also have to shout out their chocolate mousse cake slice because it is absolute perfection. Rich, smooth, and indulgent without being heavy. I crave it regularly. If you're looking for a bakery that delivers both on presentation and flavor, this is the spot. Highly recommend for special occasions or just treating yourself.

Omygoshhh this bakery!! I had the hardest time choosing because everything looked SO delicious! I ended up with the fruit tart and would absolutely order it again. My friend got the chocolate mousse cake and it was unbelievable! I will definitely be back next time I'm in town.

My daughter wanted Creme brûlée for her birthday, so that's what she got! Along with Creme brûlée and tres leches cupcake. The tres leches was hands down my fave cupcake and tres leches I've ever had! Uber eats came through with this one!

Mia's was popping on a Friday night! We did manage to get a table for two and we were served right away despite how hectic it was. We got the berry Napoleon which was amazing the cream was so delicious and the fresh berries inside cut the richness of the cream for the perfect mix. Also tried the crème brûlée cupcake which was amazing cupcake with a gooey inside love!

I needed a late night single bite sweet for desert! This was perfect! It's bakery with a diverse menu. It's a place you can sit down and have coffee and enjoy a piece of cake or just a bite of a cookie. Well decorated and staffed with the friendliest New Yorkers.

Fantastic chocolate cake. A bit too sweet for my taste, but uber decadent and great if you're craving something rich! I liked that the frosting wasn't too dense or oily, and especially enjoyed the thin layer of ganache encapsulating the entire slice. Will definitely be back to try more of their items!

We came here as a recommendation of my friend who was local to the area. Mia's serves up lots of delicious sweets that are perfectly balanced and visually appealing. From cupcakes to pies cakes and more there are so much to choose from. There are also some savory options as well if you're not having a sweet tooth. My friend highly recommended the ham and cheese croissant, but she said they tend to run out fast when they have them. My favorite bites there so far are the tres leches cupcake and creme brûlée cupcake. The cupcakes are not overly sweet and they are the perfect size to have something sweet. The bakery has a counter service to grab and takeout, a drinks counter opposite of that and a back section for dining in. Service has always been good when we have been here. Looking forward to returning soon.

Cuisine: 7 Service: 7 Decor: 7 Value: 7 Overall: 7 Nice little bakery with some decadent cakes, pies, and pastries. Everything was not too sweet and relatively delicious. I would give a nod to the pies over the cakes since Banana Cream Pie and Apple Pie were my favorites. Regardless, I would try other cakes and new items in the future as well.

This place is insane. Very busy, lots of people coming in, but it was smooth sailing when you're there. The team was so nice, and didn't rush anyone. So many options, left with 4 slices of cheesecake for the fam. Had to open mine up in the car, a banana pudding cheesecake, it's dangerous! Will be back!

Mia's is the perfect spot to drop into when craving a sweet treat. I've only been to the Smith Street location in Brooklyn (I believe the OG) so can only speak to that one, but Mia's has everything you could possibly desire from a dessert bakery. I've ordered custom cakes here for friend's birthdays, chocolate cake slice delivery when I was going THROUGH it at home, brought my parents here when they're visiting, popped in for casual date night drop ins as well on a Friday night "in", Mia's is just always the perfect vibe. I love how there's indoor table service as well as an outdoor patio option which are both relaxing and away from the bustle as there's often a long line when coming in to take something to go. Though it does move quickly. For staples - coffee, tea, and hot chocolate here have always been great. I personally love the cakes as they're always rich and hitting the exact spot I need them to and I've tried many of them (chocolate wins). However, the cupcakes are not my fav, they feel a bit dull or old to me. There's often a line inside when ordering to. Truly a neighborhood crown jewel and staple.

They've also got amazing cakes (including a fantastic carrot cake) and a great selection of treats that keep you coming back. What really makes this place special, though, is the owner, Peter. Anyway, I was in Brooklyn with my brother to see a concert and had just finished dinner. We had some time before doors opened so we decided to grab a little ice cream before heading over to the venue. Farmacy was steps away - it all seemed like it was meant to be, so off we went. Farmacy aims to capture the nostalgia of an old fashioned soda shop and ice cream parlor. Immediately upon walking in we were greeted by aesthetics - the tile, fixtures, and decor totally give off that vibe. There are a few tables to sit as well as a large bar area with stools; I also noticed a few tables set up outside as well. The traffic flow is set up so that you order first and then have it served to you after sitting. Browsing the menu, I noticed they have a selection of ice cream scoops, shakes, egg creams, specialty sodas, hot chocolates, and a large variety of sundae creations. Since we were there for ice cream, we decided to split a sundae -specifically the Sir Twix-a-Lot. This was chunks for shortcake tossed in caramel and topped with vanilla ice cream that was coated in a chocolate shell. Overall I thought the sundae was solid - but the combinations of textures weren't my favorite to be honest, mostly with how the shortcake played with the ice cream. It wasn't bad though - the flavors definitely gave the Twix aesthetic. My only other issue with the dish was that because chocolate shell was used, any residue at the bottom was hard so you have to chisel it if you want to savor any last spoonfuls; I guess that comes with the territory. Service was good - everyone was friendly. It wasn't too busy when we were there so we had our selection of seats and our ice cream was ready pretty quickly. Overall, I'm glad I finally tried Brooklyn Farmacy out - they have a large selection so I would definitely return when I'm in the area again.

Seating space (not a lot of it, so I imagine it can get packed on busy times) and bathrooms on premises. Hot chocolate was delicious. We got the spiced dark chocolate and the spices were overwhelming. Get dark chocolate without spices. The extra dollar for marshmallow made the chocolate even sweeter, so it was overwhelming and I wouldn't recommend. But. The extra dollar for whipped cream would be nice because the their homemade whipped cream isn't sweet, so it will just thicken up the drink and give you that extra texture oooomph that you'll appreciate. Torino cafe is basically coffee added to any hot chocolate of your choice. That was tasty with dark chocolate. You definitely tasted the coffee and it was less thick than regular hot chocolate (which was on a thinner, sippier side). You can sample ice cream to make your selection. It's all very sweet, so if you're looking for a less sweet option go with Belgian dark chocolate flavor. For a $18 banana split you get three scoops of ice cream and a caramelized banana. Not a big portion for such hefty price. The tiny addition of toppings didn't make this banana split come together into a cohesive dish. Would get something else next time. Definitely not a good deal. Flavor-wise, I tried the masala chai, black cherry cardamom, and the saffron soft serve. The saffron soft serve reminded me of the leftover milk from ras malai turned into soft serve, which was interesting and nostalgic. The masala chai and cherry cardamom were more subtle than I hoped.
