A new coffee shop that I'm in love with, near my job. I visit frequently to get a BonTree latte or cardamom latte. It's a very busy cafe because people love to hang inside... it's super cozy to lounge around in. But despite it being busy, the guys working behind the counter work quickly to get you your order. There are some coffee choices that don't have a dairy alternative option so take notice of that and ask questions when you order. They have oat milk and I always get that with my lattes. If I just want straight up espresso than obviously... no need to worry about milk! Lol. I always eye their pastries and bread but I have yet to get others... I've only ever gotten their sabayah here and I love it. Make sure you ask for it warmed up. Their lattes are pretty classic to how Yemeni cafes do it. If you're not used to Yemeni cafes, the coffee is strong and bold; has a great nutty taste to it along with it. All in all, a great place to lounge at but also doubles as a fabulous grab and go spot for coffee and some treats. read more

Got the iced coffee, and I was surprised that it came with milk. The service wasn't super friendly and the drink wasn't standout, but I would try to come back again in the fall/winter, as their selection of hot beverages seemed more interesting than iced ones. I'm a decaf lady...no matter what you say decaf coffee is still coffee...lol. However, today I decided to forego it to try the Golden Milk from this spot. It's seriously my new favorite hot drink! It was just the right amount of sweet and creamy. Who knew oatmilk and turmeric could make a tasty pair I also had the Yemeni eggs, no bread, and a side salad. That was a different type of tasty I didn't know I needed. I imagine I'll be here more often for my new fav drink. read more

This cafe is exactly what this neighborhood needed. I love how late they're open, it really adds a third space for people to hang out at, do work, and relax. The inside has a good amount of seating and even some tables outside as well. The coffee and pastries are great. I especially love the honeycomb bread. A nice spot in the neighbourhood, with a lot of space. I popped in on a Friday afternoon for a drink and snack and to get some work done. The lady who served me was not the friendliest and it did take a little while to get my drink, although I will say it was a very good dirty chai. I also ordered one of their chunky cookies, which was delicious and very filling. My main complaint though was their Wi-Fi. May have just been due to the number of people there but the network kept dropping every 5/10 minutes which was very frustrating. If you are looking for a spot to work from I would not recommend this location. However, if you are looking to grab a coffee with a friend or read a book then this would be a good spot. read more

Love this spot in Prospect Heights! It's open late which is great as there aren't many coffee shops open late in the area. The Yemeni tea and the cookie were delicious. The ambiance is super active and there is plenty of seating available. Would definitely be back. read more

Beautiful, relaxed cafe. Sign outside says "best coffee in the world" and I will say, it's pretty good. The staff is super friendly, their pastries look SCRUMPTIOUS (I can't wait to try one of those chunky cookies one day) and I love that they let me bring my dog in while I order. read more

My first time trying Yemeni coffee and it was so good! I got a Yemeni latte and was surprised that I didn't need to add any sugar or anything. I don't like my coffee too bitter so I normally do have to add sugar but this was perfect, somehow without being sweet. And there was a little spice aftertaste that I was pleasantly surprised by. Also a nice space, people were comfortably able to do work and relax. Overall love it would def make the commute to come again! read more

BonTree has lots of seating, dark blue walls with impressive jaguar mural and is the best for places open late. The Yemeni chai is excellent, I recommend getting that. Big space with a lot of leather booths, chairs and tables, good for meeting up with a lot of people or staying for a while. The savory food is tasty. There are some oddly placed standing tables in front of the counter. If I have one complaint its that the light can be a little harsh. I'd like to come in the daylight sometime. read more

The Yemeni tea is perfect. Those spices with the right ratio of milk? Just so comforting for me. With the a/c on blast during the summer, you can even get the tea hot, while escaping oppressive summer, though they have an iced version, too. Haven't seen their honeycomb bread before, a Yemeni specialty. It combines bites of bread stuffed with cream cheese, great snacking and sharing, in the way HK egg waffles are. Extra plus that the Wi-Fi's fast, and large tables to work off a laptop for a bit. The Arabic music on repeat keeps me from getting distracted by lyrics that I might understand. And with the staff super welcoming, I can't help stay a bit longer and order more. Only thing stopping it from being a 5-star for me is, I wish there were more greens in the dishes, so I can feel balanced in my food choices. (I can hear my doctor chastising me.) My favorite place in the neighborhood! I'm a regular here for coffee, meals, and Anissa's delicious homemade desserts. The atmosphere is always warm and welcoming, even at the busiest times.
