I would have preferred the Lebni toast with ground olives/tapenade instead -- some bites had way too many olives while some had too few. It was an interesting twist on toast. The smoothie was also good but nothing remarkable. I received my food in about 10 minutes, so it was pretty decent service It's a busy place. There were lots of people there and there wasn't any seating available, but I wasn't upset about this because I had to leave quickly. What a spacious, charming cafe to get work done! I arrived on a weekday afternoon and was surprised to see that all the tables were full. My husband ordered a cortado and asked for it to stay. Since the cafe was full, we sat by the window however that quickly filled as well so it cut the coffee experience short. I really like the espresso here, it's bright and thick and satisfying. Good milk options, and there small is actually a small! Yay. Various pastries and some fuller meal options made to order. Friendly, competent staff. It gets very busy here at times, so do us all a favor and look at a menu card before you get to the front of the line (staff are too polite to ask you to step aside, but you can bet a local will speak up). There are lots of small tables in the back (that's also where the bus tray is), and a small counter at the front. My favorite is the loft. There are some wall outlet plugs for charging devices, and people definitely work here, but you can also hang out and chat with friends and not feel like you're in an office. I love this cute cafe! They have great drinks and food. I love the swallow sandwich. It's also great in the summer when you can sit at the tables outside and on the sidewalk - great for people watching. The only reason I give it 4 stars is because the food service is pretty slow. Usually have to wait 15-20 mins to get my food. Not ideal for when I'm in a rush or just want to pick something up. Everyone who works there is also super friendly and nice. read more

Light my fire by the doors was playing as I strolled in. Not a big line at 10am cause of quick, friendly and attentive staff. Double shot of espresso served in a ceramic cup is a must and this place delivered a solid shot! Seems like a "laptop shop". At first I didn't even notice how many people were at the tables because of how many levels this place has. Serving Counter Culture coffee seems to be the move here. Rustic open and airy design with exposed brick and a casual relaxed environment. Plenty of natural light with some tungsten bulbs to warm up the inside. First time coming here but looks like a nice spot for working if you can snag a spot. Plenty of space along the front windows for quick drinkers. I've had this place on my list of cafes to visit for a while. I finally had the opportunity to stop by on Saturday morning after running a few errands in the rain. It was pretty busy with not many tables to sit at but I was able to snag one upstairs in a small loft area that holds 3 tables with a view of the entire front of the cafe. Great area to study or read. There was a bit of a line when I arrived but it moved fairly quickly. I browsed the menu as I waited but decided on getting just an iced coffee with oat milk. I liked that they had a few different kinds of oat milk to choose from. Oatly is the one I always use so I was happy to see that they had it as an option. The barista was nice & very welcoming, he took my order & got it to me quickly. I enjoyed my coffee & was able to get a few things done peacefully while I was there. Literally the best and one of my favorite cafes to work, dine, and play. And by play I mean a coffee date! The cafe is so warm and the staff is amazing. Oh and the food is next level! I wish the matcha latte I ordered was better because this place has very welcoming staff and a really nice and work-friendly seating area. When my friend and I stopped by it was packed with people on laptops, and it seemed like there were some outlets as well. Unfortunately I don't think I'll be coming back despite the seating, because my matcha latte was absolutely awful and so overpriced. I was worried when I saw it being halfheartedly whisked by the barista and sure enough, there were clumps of powder on the bottom and it was essentially green milk. They only put one small spoonful of matcha so even if it were to be evenly mixed I doubt the matcha flavour would have been strong enough. The only pro is that they don't add sugar. At just under $7 total, I'd have been better off just buying a gallon of milk and some green dye at the supermarket. read more

Really good coffee and delicious foods! The interior is really cute--my favorite spot to sit at is the lofted area. It's super cozy, and it's cool to look out across the whole cafe. Their sandwiches and smoothies are also amazing. They're priced pretty affordably, too. I'd also say this is a good cafe to work at. Everyone was looking for the outlet, Cafe has a outlet only along the wall which is good enough for the ppl next to the wall, but Mine (4 outlet) were NONE of them are working, I couldnt charge my phone or using laptop. I had to asking the ppl behind of me to rend me one of the 4 from hers, but only 2 out of 4 working for another outlet. And I saw another "competitor" customer was asking/seeking for actually working outlet. I wish I could say my last experience here was a good one, but I became uncomfortable. As a regular patron of this coffee shop, I have never experienced an aggressive encounter. I was sitting at a table, doing the work I needed to do and minding my own business, when one of the baristas approached me, stating that the table I was at was for people of bigger groups and that I had to move, and that I either needed buy something or leave. The issue was not me having to move seats or to pay, the issue is I did not appreciate the barista's tone with me. When I stated to the barista that I have come to this coffee shop multiple times before and no one ever approached me about needing to pay in order to use the space to work and it was never an issue beforehand, she responded in an aggressive tone saying, "Well, this is a coffee shop." I have no problem following the rules, or learning about unwritten rules I was not aware of, but when I am experiencing micro-aggressions towards me, this is something I do not appreciate and I felt disrespected. It is a shame that this encounter ruined what was a previous, joyous experience for me. read more

Swallow Cafe has probably one of the best matcha lattes I've ever had! I ordered mine with oat milk and sweetened (with honey) and it was so creamy and delicious. I tried to pace myself drinking it - since it was $7 - but it was so delicious! Their coffee is also good but if I'm going to be spending that much on a drink there, I'll definitely be reordering their matcha! Their cafe is really cute and has a unique lay out. After i ate it, in 3 hours i had a full blown chicken poisoning from it for f... 11 hours!!! It was something that i have never experienced before. I've had coffee here several times and I just don't get understand the hype. It is VERY expensive. This is coming from someone who loves expensive coffee and has no problems convincing myself it's worth it. I do appreciate they use counter culture but you can go across the street to key foods and buy an entire bag of counter culture for the price of one latte here. Further, the few times I've been here the lattes have been weird and flavorless. The baristas aren't the friendliest either, so really there is zero draw for me to come here. Cute little spot! I love how industrial Swallow Cafe is and I love the stairs that lead upstairs for a more intimate seating area. Definitely a cozy atmosphere that you can get in this neighborhood. The staff here is really nice and helpful. There is wifi and honestly it was very peaceful when I went, only a few people working. We ordered drinks: cappuccino, iced earl grey tea (my fav!) and iced green tea. All were good. You can also get smoothies and actual food here - the menu looked good. I was a little confused at first thinking I was in Tripoli because that is what's listed on building, but Tripoli is downstairs and Swallow is on the ground floor. A unique and memorable name for such a cute cafe. Did I think of the cute and cuddly species of Swallow birds? of course not! I thought of those times when you don't leave anything behind. Bottom line is I wanted caffeine and this place conveniently drew me in. The decor and aesthetics of the cafe is one to admire. It's was previously a Lebanese restaurant so it still holds a lot of character from the previous occupants. My iced liquid crack, I mean "coffee" was pretty decent but lacked more flavor from the homemade vanilla flavored syrup. The syrup was a unique blend of vanilla, cardamom and cinnamon. It was a unique taste but lacked a little umph. Overall this looks like a nice place to get some work done and take advantage of the free wifi, while enjoying breakfast treats. read more
