Came in on a whim looking for matcha. I wasn't greeted by the woman who was behind the register. She honestly didn't even acknowledge me, she appeared to be very focused on her side conversation as I stood there waiting to be serviced. I asked about the drink selection and what they consisted of and she was very short and nonchalant with me very dismissive as if her conversation was more important. I still continued looking at the only visual menu I could find and then googled. She then pointed to a menu and I'm like oh you have a menu with descriptions thanks .... She was kinda snooty and not helpful. The drink I got was blue honestly forgot the name because it was nothing to remember. Tasted bland, cheap and lime water. Waste of 8+$. Overpriced honestly. I also tried a thumbprint cookie it was actually pretty good. But I won't be back don't like how I was treated. The vibe inside is a very BASIC cafe set up nothing spectacular at all. They were playing r&b which was cool. Other than that nothing else to say the Caucasian barista needs to do better with customer service, courtesy and overall providing a warm welcome when people enter. read more

Ordered: Iced Blue Dream (~$7): Pulverized Lotus, Butterfly Pea Flower, Ashwaghandha, Astragalus, Chaga, Cordyceps, Reishi, Rose hip, Lavender, and milk Aya's take: Most High looks like the neighborhood coffee shop that you pop into for a quick drink and head on your way. I wanted something cold & refreshing when the Iced Blue Dream caught my eye. It has a lot of good ingredients in it but the rose hip and lavender are what drew me in. Sadly, those flavors weren't very prominent in my drink. The drink also doesn't have much flavor on its own. It's very subtle and every so slightly sweet. I think if there was an option to have this over espresso or matcha, it would be a game changer. Nonetheless, cool spot and nice drink to sip on during my walk. read more

I'll give you this.. Most High is a cozy place to meet friends for coffee in another favorite part of Brooklyn, Eastern Parkway. I stopped by after bookmarking this place because it is right next door to a favorite Vietnamese shop of mine. I was in the mood for a hot chai on a brisk March afternoon and planned to drink it on my way to the Brooklyn Botanic Garden. I stepped in and ordered it and the server was friendly and prepared my chai. Once completed she served it to me in a to go cup. The presentation of the chai was impressive( sorry, I didn't take a pic). I paid and left to drink it on the way to BBG. First sip... yikes.. all I can say is a burst of cinnamon hit my palate. Where is the Cardamom ? Ginger? Cloves? Their black tea concoction was.. hard to describe.. I don't mind spending money on quality beverages but $7.50 for a non chai is pretty disappointing. Small, cozy coffee shop thats good for popping in with a friend or solo. Its very small so wouldnt consider it a spot to cowork or come with large groups. I found the coffee to be standard, but nothing special. What was delicious, however, was the tahini chocolate chip cookie I had here lol. Price of the cookie I recall was steep. Overall was a a pleasant experience but not sure if I would seek it out. read more

The cafe miel is good--I wanted to try the specialty even though I was concerned it would be too sweet. Luckily it wasn't. It was sweet enough to bring out different flavors in the coffee, but not so sweet it was uncomfortable. There's some counter seating inside and a few small tables outside on the sidewalk. There was no one waiting when I got there, so my coffee was ready very quickly. It's not inexpensive, but it's pretty standard for the area. read more

Decided to try out a new coffee shop in the neighborhood and was not disappointed! the prices were pretty average for the area but the coffee tasted much better than a lot of the other places I've tried nearby. There is a small counter along one of the walls with stools to sit on and just one small table outside with two chairs, so there isn't a ton of seating but the place wasn't super crowded when I came. So far I'm pretty happy with this spot! I've been a few times and I like the Afghani chai here. The service is always very friendly. Aside from drinks, they have a good assortment of pastries. The cheddar biscuit is good, and there's a cookie that even they didn't really know what flavor it was but it's kind of a big mix of a lot of things? This is a neighborhood gem and my new go-to coffee shop- so much so that I sometimes go twice in one day. The owner is so lovely and is also the barista in the mornings (she makes a mean latte with beautiful depth and none of that bitterness). Most mornings, I come in around 8 AM, and there's maybe one other patron before or after me, but on the occasion I swing by later or I send my husband to pick up our afternoon coffee, there are a few people in the cafe working or chatting. We've also picked up whole beans, which the owner roasts down the street at a collective, so you're truly supporting local! We usually make cold brew with freshly ground beans, and I was so surprised at how fruity and rich the cold brew was. Again, no bitterness! Keep it up, Most High! I absolutely loved my experience and vision of this young, female-owned business. The owner was incredibly passionate about her selections and explained the tasting notes of each to the point that I had to return to try other items. Miela was so enthusiastic and friendly and seemed to care more about making her customers happy than turning a profit. I read the review about cultural appropriation and find it to be so one-sided and angry. All terms have many different meanings. Most High also refers to Jesus Christ but I doubt anyone of faith would write such a vicious note. Cultural Inclusiveness begins with kindness, conversation and knowledge. This place has literally become my new go-to ever since a few coffee shops closed down in the area. I have been here a lot of times now and the owner is very accommodating. I dropped some pastries here once and she offered to give me completely new ones for free. Didn't take her up on the offer but I am impressed she gave it out. The owner is trying really hard to give everyone a good experience. Coffee-wise I love the cafe con miel! The honey in it is a great sweetener. Sometimes I just get the normal latte as well and that's pretty good too. Along with the coffee you can buy kombucha and energy based drinks in the fridge near by. Sometimes I will go and grab one to take home for dinner. Overall this a wonderful place. The owner is very friendly and the coffee is high quality! read more

I was first intrigued by the cool design of Most High's storefront. Hip hop music was playing when I entered the cafe and they also had very hip & urban decor inside. I agree with previous review that the aesthetic of this place is definitely inspired by African culture. Most High's menu was rather simple but I usually like the cafes with a small menu because that shows that they are very confident in their products. They also sell their own roasted beans as well as other health related products. My husband opted for a latte with regular milk and the barista was friendly. I'm not a coffee person but when I tried his latte it was very foamy and smooth. My husband who's is a self claimed coffee snob enjoyed his latte very much and said it was the best coffee he had in Prospect Heights. Price was more reasonable than coffee shops on Vanderbilt Avenue. The cafe is located on rather quite and gentrified area of Prospect heights and it's very close to Prospect park. I do think we will be back to try their afghani chai! read more

I'm deeply bothered by this place. I stepped in, excited because I thought this spot, given the name and decor, was a Black owned spot but.... It is NOT Black owned. (I asked the woman who worked there) Why this is important/offensive? Most High is a coffee shop full of crystals and various other Black accoutrements, playing Black music, which is literally placed in a historically very Black (more specifically VERY Jamaican) neighborhood, one which has been heavily gentrified. The name CLEARLY refers to the expression Most High which rastas/Jamaicans/Black Americans use to refer to God. This place is literally appropriating our culture *and religion* and masquerading as a black owned place AND ITS NOT. They literally named and designed this place to trick well meaning people into thinking this is a Black/Brown owned business so we will be more prone to support it, knowing they are not. It's so so so so deeply offensive to me that yet another gentrifying hipster would do this - even after allllllll the 97197509105081 talks on cultural appropriation, gentrification, and culture vulturing - that I had to leave. They truly just don't care and just want to take our money. I truly am blown away by the audacity of the owner to do this so I had to leave. read more

This was a gem of a find for us. After a long afternoon at the Brooklyn Museum, we needed a little pick-me-up, and Most High offered that in spades. On a lark, we tried special of the cafe con miel, and we were taken aback by the artistry of the barista along with the subtle and interesting combination of flavors. We also had a latte which showcased a wonderful texture and care in roasting of the coffee that they use. Would definitely return and would very highly recommend. read more

This is my favorite coffee shop in all of Brooklyn and NYC! The quality of the coffee is the best I've had in NYC, and the service is always on point. It never gets too crowded, which is certainly a plus. I love how the coffee is roasted by the owner, Miela, who is also a barista. It's very rare in NYC to have a place that roasts its own beans and has an owner who is around. I've been a specialty coffee enthusiast for many years and have often been disappointed at many places in NYC that are just pumping customers in and out without any care for coffee or for their clientele.
