As time passed, the situation became increasingly uncomfortable and disheartening. It felt as though I was being deliberately overlooked. I could not ignore the possibility that I was being treated differently because of the color of my skin, which made the experience even more painful and isolating. Brooklyn is known for its diversity and inclusivity, which is why this experience felt so out of place.
